• Conceptually how does load-balancing on the EJB tier work in Glassfish/any ejb container

  I am wondering conceptually how load-balancing works on the EJB-level (not web session replication) with Java EE containers like Glassfish. From what I have gleaned your remote interface is a proxy that delegates your call to one of many servers you may have in an environment. If things fail are they supposed to be able to "finish" on another server? I want to understand the basic theory behind this load balancing, why is it better than a bunch of servers all running a plain web application with session affinity on a load-balancer?

  Hi Everyone I just need to know what's the difference between sql providers SQLOLEDB and SQLNCLI. I have one scenario where one SSIS package should fail. Now when I use SQLNCLI provider in the connection string the package terminates by throwing the error as expected. However when I use SQLOLEDB provider, the package behaves abnormally by ending successfully without throwing any error? Can someone shed some light on this scenario? Thanks.

• How to fix "containing working copy admin area is missing" in SVN ?

  I deleted manually a directory I just added, offline, in my repository. I can't restore the directory. Any attempt to do an update or a commit will fail with : "blabla/.svn" containing working copy admin area is missing. I understand why, but is there anyway to fix this. I don't want to checkout the entire repo and add my changes to it manually, it would take hours.

  Hi, I developed a page using the latest prototype and scriptaculous versions and after cleaning it up thoroughly, the only browser where my scripts work is ... chrome! Some things don't work at all with ie7(eg BlindUp), and some validations fail with ie8 and firefox 3.5. Any success stories to contradict this ? (Any tips will be appreciated).

  I have played/worked with many different programming languages and Dylan is still one of my favorites. My question is why did Dylan fail when Objective-C, Ruby and even Scheme have had more success? Was Dylans performance that much worse than Objective-C that Apple went with it or was purely for social/political reasons.   UPDATE (3/8/2010) I installed Xdebug and have it tracing my code. I have installed everything the same way on a local server and it works fine. To say I am at a complete loss would be putting it lightly. *NOTE: I ran make test and it returned FAIL on every test. I never ran this on my working machine to see if it reports the same errors. Any idea why make test would report FAIL but make doesn't report any error? I've installed the Oracle Instantclient with no reported errors along with the OCI8 PECL package and at a loss. Whenever I try to open a connection with oci_connect, it halts my entire PHP script. EXAMPLE: <?php ini_set ("display_errors", "1"); error_reporting(E_ALL); echo "before"; $conn = oci_connect("username", "password", "host"); echo "after"; ?> Returns a complete blank page. The module is loaded (seen in phpinfo) and everything installed with no errors. I am at a complete loss. CentOS: 5.4 Apache: 2.2.3 PHP: 5.3.1 InstantClient: 11.2 oci8: 1.4.1 Any thoughts? • Share functions between Crystal Reports without Crystal Reports Server?

Without Crystal Reports Server, is there a way to share functions between reports so that they do not need to be duplicated? I understand I could do this with a user function library but I would prefer not to port all of the crystal functions to UFL. Using Crystal Reports 2008.

  I have included Zend_Form_Element_Hash into a form multiplecheckbox form. I have jQuery set to fire off an AJAX request when a checkbox is clicked, I pass the token with this AJAX request. The first AJAX request works great, but the subsequent ones fail. I suspect it may be once the token has been validated it is then removed from the session (hop = 1). What would be your plan of attack for securing a form with Zend Framework Hash yet using AJAX to complete some of these requests?

Would it be effective to do (2) INSERTS instead of one ... one to the target shard, and another to a secondary shard which could be accessed should the primary shard not respond? • Tomcat 6.0 doesn't set Cookies in webkit based browsers on localhost

  I'm working on a website that runs on Tomcat 6.0 at localhost:8080. Interestingly enough, Tomcat seems to only be able to set cookies on Firefox. Opera and WebKit based browsers (Chrome, WinSafari) seem to fail. Is this a known issue and is there a solution?
