  • Sign out of messenger on Windows 8

    I just installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Just going through the default procedure, I let it use my Xbox Live account to create a user. When I then went and turned on my Xbox, it now notified me that I was logged into Messenger in two locations. I went back to Windows 8, and turned my Live account into a local account on that machine. But when I then turned the Xbox again, I got the same message. Is there a way to just 'sign out of messenger' on Windows 8? Or is there a location to even see where I am signed in at?

  • Ubuntu Server on live Internet

    I just installed Ubuntu Server 12.04 in an office machine with openSSH, DNS and LAMP Server. I also made the IP static and I can access the server in my office premises easily, but when I try to access my server from my home it is not working. I know I have to make some changes and need to install some firewall (I had just gone through with a couple of posts) but I guess an expert advise will save my time here.

  • Adding new virtual disks to a Windows host in ESX “live”

    Building on my previous question about RHEL, how do you add get the guest OS to recognize that you've added new drives to it without a reboot? I have Windows 2003, XP, and 2008 guests running on ESX 4. I've added new virtual disks to the VM, but have not figured-out how to get the guest to recognize them without a reboot. Is this possible? If so, how?

  • Website is live but ping times out

    I have a client's website that is running on GoDaddy hosting and started behaving very strange recently. The site is up and running but when I try to ping it I get time out. The problem is PayPal doesn't work also Google Webmaster reported the site is down. The client spoke with support and they said there is no firewall or any other traffic filter on their side. The site itself is PHP. Any ideas are welcome. I've tried to send test IPN from PayPal to the payment URL and got: IPN delivery failed. Unable to connect to the specified URL. Please verify the URL and try again. Which makes me think that the website/server is inaccessible in some specific cases. The site URL is http://www.flavourly.com P.S.: I tried to ping it from different machines, ISPs and OS

  • jQuery .live fireing multiple times!

    Greetings Guru's, This is a little hard to explain, but I'll give it a shot. I have a quick question regarding to the .live() function in JQuery. I'm going to simplify the example here. I have a page "index.php" that has a container "#display_files_container" which is populated with anchor links that are generated dynamically by a different page "process.php". The links are loaded into that same <div> when those links are selected based on the attributes of that link. See Examples: INDEX.PHP <html> <head><title>index.php</title> <!-- this function below loads process.php and passes it the dirid variable via post. I then use this post variable inside of process.php to pull other links from the database --> <script language="text/javascript"> $('.directory').live("click", function() { $('#display_files_container').load('plugins/project_files/process.php', {dirid: $(this).attr('dirid')}); }); </script> </head> <?php /*This code initial populates the link array so we have the first links populated before the users clicks for the first time*/ some code to fetch the $current_directory_list array from the database initially.... >? <body> <div id='display_files_container'> <?php /*Cycle through the array and echo out all the links which have been pulled from DB*/ for($i=0;$i<$current_directory_count;$i++) { echo "<a href='#' class='directory' dirid='".$current_directory_list[$i]['id']." "</a> "; } ?> </div> </body> </html> PROCESS.PHP this file includes code to populate the $current_directory_list[] array from the database based on the post variable "$_POST['dirid']" that was sent from the .click() method in index.php. It then echo's the results out and we display them in the #display_files_container container. When you click on those links the process repeats. This works..... you can click though the directory tree and it loads the new links every time. However, it seems to want to .load() the process.php file many times over for one click. The number of times process.php is loaded seems to increase the more the links are clicked. So for example you can click on a link and firebug reports that process.php was loaded 23 times..... Eventually I would imagine I would record a stackoverflow. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Are there any ways that I can assure that .live() loads the process.php file only once?   • Unit test with live data

    Hey, I have googled this a little and didn't really find the answer I needed. I am working on a webpage in C# with MSSQL and LINQ for a customer. I want the users to be able to send messages to each other. So what I do is that I unit test this with live data. The problem is that I now depend on having at least 2 users who I know the ID of. Furthermore I have to clean up after my self. This leads to rather large unit tests that test alot in one test. Lets say I would like to update a user. That would mean that I would have to ceate the user, update it, and then delete it. This a lot of assertions in one unit test and if it fails with updating i have to manually delete it. If I would do it any other way, without live data, I would not fore sure be able to know that the data was present in the database after updating etc. What is the proper way to do this without having a test that tests a lot of functuality by it self?

  • Bi-directional view model syncing with "live" collections and properties (MVVM)

    I am getting my knickers in a twist recently about View Models (VM). Just like this guy I have come to the conclusion that the collections I need to expose on my VM typically contain a different type to the collections exposed on my business objects. Hence there must be a bi-directional mapping or transformation between these two types. (Just to complicate things, on my project this data is "Live" such that as soon as you change a property it gets transmitted to other computers) I can just about cope with that concept, using a framework like Truss, although I suspect there will be a nasty surprise somewhere within. Not only must objects be transformed but a synchronization between these two collections is required. (Just to complicate things I can think of cases where the VM collection might be a subset or union of business object collections, not simply a 1:1 synchronization). I can see how to do a one-way "live" sync, using a replicating ObservableCollection or something like CLINQ. The problem then becomes: What is the best way to create/delete items? Bi-directinal sync does not seem to be on the cards - I have found no such examples, and the only class that supports anything remotely like that is the ListCollectionView. Would bi-directional sync even be a sensible way to add back into the business object collection? All the samples I have seen never seem to tackle anything this "complex". So my question is: How do you solve this? Is there some technique to update the model collections from the VM? What is the best general approach to this?

    Hi all, I am writing a web app with asp.net, c# and jquery. Most of the time I'm writing dynamic html to the browser and using different web services to get the content needed. My call to the service: function WriteProducts(currentIndex, selectedCategoryId, callback) { var d = new Date(); MyAppServices.GetProducts(selectedCategoryId, currentIndex, 8, d.getTime().toString(), callback, function func() { alert('failure'); }); } The request usually gets translated to this (using firebug I monitored it): http://localhost:8080/MyApp/MyAppServices.svc/GetProducts?categoryId=0&fromIndex=0&toIndex=8&randomNumber=%221271800014441%22 The problem starts when part of the html controls dynamically rendered need to respond to click events. This is when I start using jquery's live method: $('.filter').live('click', function(event) { WriteProducts(0, selectedCategoryId, PopulateDivs); }); Now from some reason, the request passed to the server becomes this: http://localhost:8080/MyApp/MyAppServices.svc/GetProducts?categoryId=**%2217%22**&fromIndex=0&toIndex=8&randomNumber=%221271799783355%22 where did these %22 come from? If I take them out, the request passes successfully. I have no idea who inserted these %22, but they are causing havoc here! Guys, do you perhaps have a clue?

  • Good tools for keeping the content in test/staging/live environments synchronized

    I'm looking for recommendations on automated folder synchronization tools to keep the content in our three environments synchronized automatically. Specifically, we have several applications where a user can upload content (via a File Upload page or a similar mechanism), such as images, pdf files, word documents, etc. In the past, we had the user doing this to our live server, and as a result, our test and staging servers had to be manually synchronized. Going forward, we will have them upload content to the staging server, and we would like some software to automatically copy the files off to the test and live servers EITHER on a scheduled basis OR as the files get uploaded. I was planning on writing my own component, and either set it up as a scheduled task, or use a FileSystemWatcher, but it occurred to me that this has probably already been done, and I might be better off with some sort of synchronization tool that already exists. On our web site, there are a limited number of folders that we want to keep synchronized. In these folders, it is an all or nothing - we want to make sure the folders are EXACT duplicates. This should make it fairly straightforward, and I would think that any software that can synchronize folders would be OK, except that we also would like the software to log changes. (This rules out simple BATCH files.) So I'm curious, if you have a similar environment, how did you solve the challenge of keeping everything synchronized. Are you aware of a tool that is reliable, and will meet our needs? If not, do you have a recommendation for something that will come close, or better yet, an open source solution where we can get the code and modify it as needed? (preferably .NET). Added Also, I DID google this first, but there are so many options, I am interested mostly in knowing what actually works well vs what they SAY works, which is why I'm asking here.

  • Outgoing Emails (Git Patches) Blocked by Windows Live

    Just recently I dove into the VideoLAN open source project. This was my first time using git, and when sending in my first patch (using git send-email --to [email protected] patches), I was sent the following message from my computer's local mail in the terminal (I'm on OSX 10.6 by the way): Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. We generally do not accept email from dynamic IP's as they are not typically used to deliver unauthenticated SMTP e-mail to an Internet mail server. http:/www.spamhaus.org maintains lists of dynamic and residential IP addresses. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Email/network admins, please visit http://postmaster.live.com for email delivery information and support They must think I'm a spammer. I have a dynamic IP and my ISP (Charter) won't let me get a static one, so I tried editing git preferences: git config --global user.email "[email protected]" to my gmail account. However I got the exact same message again. My guess is that it has something to do with the native mail's preferences, but I have no idea how to access them or modify them. Anybody have any ideas for solving this? Thanks!

    I want to rewrite TCP/IP streams. Ettercap's etterfilter command lets you perform simple live replacements of TCP/IP data based on fixed strings or regexes. The rewriting should occur at the transport layer (Layer 4) as it does in this example, instead of a lower layer packet-based approach. Thanks!

So simplified I have something like: #!/usr/bin/env node process.cd('/Users') When I then run this command like ./bin/nodefile it exits but stays in the same directory it started in. I have also tried shelljs, What is the best way to do this? I understand it's working but it's just in a separate process. Thanks.

    I am using will_paginate to successfully page through records. I am also using AJAX live search via jQuery to update my results div. No problem so far. The issue I have is when trying to paginate through those live search results. I simply get "Page is loading..." with no div update.   • jQuery Drag And Drop Using Live Events

    Hello. I have an application with a long list that changes frequently, and I need this the items of this list to be draggable. I've been using the jQuery UI draggable plugin, but it is slow to add to 400+ list items, and has to be re-added every time new list items are added. Does anyone know of a plugin similar to the jQuery UI draggable plugin that uses jQuery 1.3's .live() events? This would solve both problems. Thanks!
