• my server suddenly crashes every 2 days or so. Programmer has no idea, please help find the cause, here is the top

  Every couple of days my server suddenly crashes and I must request hardware reset at data center to get it back running. Today I came back to my shell and saw the server was dead and "top" was running on it, and see below for the "top" right before the crash. I opened /var/log/messages and scrolled to the reboot time and see nothing, no errors prior to the hard reboot. (I checked in /etc/syslog.conf and I see "*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none /var/log/messages" , isn't this good enough to log all problems?) Usually when I look at the top, the swap is never used up like this! I also don't know why mysqld is at 323% cpu (server only runs drupal and its never slow or overloaded). Solver is my application. I don't know whats that 'sh' doing and 'dovecot' doing. • ZeroDowntime deployment of configuration in Tomcat 7

  looking at the things which can be done with the Parallel deployments in Tomcat 7, I wonder how new or changed configuration could be provided to these various versions of the application. In a nutshell - what parallel deployment offers is that pushing a new version of a war file to the webapps dir (with filenames like "App##01.war, "App##02.war") and ever user with a new session will get the newer version, all others stay with the old version. So how could one provide different or additional configuration (properties) to the various versions? Cheers.

• Ubuntu hardware wireless switch has no effect after suspend and 13.10 upgrade

This is, I am mostly interested to loading different PATH directories when logging as bash, depending on the different Linux nodes I log into? For example, if I log into bash in machine abc-01, I would like to have a given .bashrc loaded, but when I log into abc-02, that uses the same /home/username directory, I would like to use a different .bashrc. How can I go about doing that?

  I've a bonding on two interfaces. I'd like to monitor wether they are connected to different switches (the switches have hostnames). ethX should be connected to switchX and ethY to switchY. Currently I'm checking this with following command: tcpdump -vv -s0 -i ethX ether host 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cc After a minute it prints out the hostname (and much more information) from the switch. They mention Vistumbler, which only works on PC's. Is there a similar tool I can use to measure wireless interference on a Mac? • Getting SEC to only monitor latest version of a log file?

The basic setup is pretty straightforward, the problem I'm having is that we want to monitor a log file whose name contains the date(php-2012-10-01.log for instance). How can I tell SEC to only monitor the latest version of the file(and of course switch to the newest log file every day at midnight) I could do something like create a latest version of the file that links to the latest version and run a cron job at midnight to update the link, but I am looking for a more elegant solution

• GWT Query fails second time -only.

  HI, I have a visualization function in GWT which calls for two instances of the same panels - two queries. Now, suppose one url is A and the other url is B. Here, I am facing an issue in that if A is called first, then both A and B works. If B is called first, then only B works, A - times out. If I call both times A, only the first time A works, second time it times out. If I call B twice, it works both times without a hitch. Even though the error comes at timed out, it actually is not timing out - in FF status bar, it shows till - transferring data from A, and then it gets stuck. This doesnt even show up in the first time query. The only difference between A and B is that B returns very fast, while A returns comparitively slow. So, my rules are : DST start the second sunday of March at 2am DST end the first sunday of november at 2am In 2012 (now) this give us the march 11 at 2am and November 4 at 2am You can see my test dates are set properly!!! If i put 2012-11-04 00:59:59, the test pass! This 1 hour gap just puzzle me... can anyone explain this behavior? Oh, btw, if anyone could elaborate on the : est.setStartRule(Calendar.MARCH, 8, -Calendar.SUNDAY, 2 * 60 * 60 * 1000); Why 8 means second week of march... and the -SUNDAY. • Why does calling IEnumerable<string>.Count() create an additional assembly dependency ?

  Assume this chain of dll references Tests.dll >> Automation.dll >> White.Core.dll with the following line of code in Tests.dll, where everything builds result.MissingPaths Now when I change this to result.MissingPaths.Count() I get the following build error for Tests.dll "White.UIItem is not defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to White.Core.dll." And I don't want to do that because it breaks my layering. Here is the type definition for result, which is in Automation.dll public class HasResult { public HasResult(IEnumerable<string> missingPaths ) { MissingPaths = missingPaths; } public IEnumerable<string> MissingPaths { get; set; } public bool AllExist { get { return !MissingPaths.Any(); } } } Down the call chain the input param to this ctor is created via (The TreeNode class is in White.Core.dll) assetPaths.Where(assetPath => !FindTreeNodeUsingCache(treeHandle, assetPath)); Why does this dependency leak when calling Count() on IEnumerable ? I then suspected that lazy evaluation was causing this (for some reason) - so I slotted in an ToArray() in the above line but didn't work. Update 2011 01 07: Curiouser and Curiouser! it won't build until I add a White.Core reference. So I add a reference and build it (in order to find the elusive dependency source). Open it up in Reflector and the only references listed are Automation, mscorlib, System.core and NUnit. So the compiler threw away the White reference as it was not needed. ILDASM also confirms that there is no White AssemblyRef entry. Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this thing (primarily for 'now I wanna know why' reasons)? What are the chances that this is an VS2010/MSBuild bug? Update 2011 01 07 #2 As per Shimmy's suggestion, tried calling the method explcitly as an extension method Enumerable.Count(result.MissingPaths) and it stops cribbing (not sure why). However I moved some code around after that and now I'm getting the same issue at a different location using IEnumerable - this time reading and filtering lines out of a file on disk (totally unrelated to White). Seems like it's a 'symptom-fix'. var lines = File.ReadLines(aFilePath).ToArray(); once again, if I remove the ToArray() it compiles again - it seems that any method that causes the enumerable to be evaluated (ToArray, Count, ToList, etc.) causes this. Let me try and get a working tiny-app to demo this issue... Update 2011 01 07 #3 Phew! More information.. It turns out the problem is just in one source file - this file is LINQ-phobic. Any call to an Enumerable extension method has to be explicitly called out.
