    I have the following JavaScript JSON array of real estate home objects: var json = { 'homes' : [ { "home_id":"1", "price":"925", "sqft":"1100", "num_of_beds":"2", "num_of_baths":"2.0", }, { "home_id":"2", "price":"1425", "sqft":"1900", "num_of_beds":"4", "num_of_baths":"2.5", }, // ... (more homes) ... ]} var xmlhttp = eval('(' + json + ')'); homes = xmlhttp.homes; What I would like to do is be able to perform a filter on the object to return a subset of "home" objects. For example, I want to be able to filter based on: price, sqft, num_of_beds, and num_of_baths. Question: How can I perform something in javascript like the pseudo-code below: var newArray = homes.filter( price <= 1000 & sqft >= 500 & num_of_beds >=2 & num_of_baths >= 2.5); Note, the syntax does not have to be exactly like above. It has the following stype-attribute: style='z-index: 1; top: 242px; left: 926px; display: none; width: 256px'; As I want another outfit for my list, this doesn't work. Putting in the following attribute has no effect: cssStyle="width:115px!important;" What can I do?

  • Can pydoc/help() hide the documentation for inherited class methods and attributes?

    When declaring a class that inherits from a specific class: class C(dict): added_attribute = 0 the documentation for class C lists all the methods of dict (either through help(C) or pydoc). Is there a way to hide the inherited methods from the automatically generated documentation (the documentation string can refer to the base class, for non-overwritten methods)? or is it impossible? This would be useful: pydoc lists the functions defined in a module after its classes. Thus, when the classes have a very long documentation, a lot of less than useful information is printed before the new functions provided by the module are presented, which makes the documentation harder to exploit (you have to skip all the documentation for the inherited methods until you reach something specific to the module being documented).

  • Can I have different name and id attributes on a form element?

    Hi all, I have a web form with usual elements (first name, last name, etc). The Postback URL is a different website altogether as the form is intented to post lead information to another website. The site that accepts the lead is expecting First Name to come over as "FName", and Last Name to come over as "LName". Is there any way I can set the ID of a textbox to "txtFName", but submit it over the wire as "FName"? I tried changing the name attribute, but at runtime it sets the name = id.

    I want to be able to add an attribute to a HTML element to be able to identify what its referring to. E.g if I have a list of names and a checkbox next to each name, like this: <div id="users"> Bob smith <input type=checkbox /> </div> And when a checkbox is clicked and the event handler function for it is called, I want to be able to identify which user was selected/unselected. Ideally I'm looking for something like this: <input type=checkbox data-userId = "xxx" /> Then when its clicked: function handleClick() { var userId = $(this).attr('data-userId'); } However I'm looking to do this in a way that won't break my HTML validation, and would still be valid HTML and work in all browsers. Any suggestions?

  • I'm very new to C# and reading about attributes, is there a keypress attribute?

    I'm coming from intermediate java level and I wanted to spend some time tonight learning C#, partly because a game I used to play is now free to play (Asheron's Call) and when I used to play I had always wanted to write a plugin for Decal but 10 years ago I didn't know nearly enough to do anything. Anyways most of that won't mean much to anyone, but what I essentially want to do is something along the lines of (psuedo code): [KeyPressEvent("KeyPressed")] private void KeyPressed(object sender, KeyPressEventArgs args) { if (args.KeyPressed == VK_K) { // Do stuff } } If I'm not providing enough information or if my description of what I want to do is a little off base let me know. Most plugins for this are written in VB6, but in the past few years Decal has upgraded to .NET 3.5 support so I can use things up until there; a lot of the VB6 stuff uses event subscriptions (e.g. Core.EchoFilter.ServerDispatch += EchoFilter_ServerDispatch;) My C# vernacular is not up to part, but on that notion I haven't done a whole lot of Java projects that related to events (or Observers as I believe they're referred to as).

    Background: I want to create a custom VB compiler, extending the "original" compiler, to handle my custom compile-time attributes. Question: after I've created my custom compiler and I've got an executable file capable of compiling VB code via the standard command-line interface, how do I integrate this compiler with the Visual Studio IDE? (such that pressing "compile" or "build" will make use of my compiler instead of the default compiler). EDIT: (Correct me if i'm wrong) From the reactions here, I see this question is a bit shocking, so I shall further explain my needs and background: .NET provides us with a great mechanism called Attributes. As far as I understand, making attributes apply their intended behavior upon the attributed element (assembly, module, class, method, etc.) - attributes must be reflected upon. So the real trick here is reflecting and applying behavior at the right spot. Lets take Serialization for example: We decorate a class with the Serializable attribute. We then pass an instance of the class to the formatter's Serialize method. The formatter reflects upon the instance, checking if it has the Serializable attribute, and acting accordingly. Now, if we examine the Synchronization, Flags, Obsolete and CLSCompliant attributes, then the real question is: who reflects upon them? At least in some cases, it has to be the compiler (and/or IDE). Therefore, it seems that if I wish to create custom attributes that change an element's behavior regardless of any specific consumer, i must extend the compiler to reflect upon them at compilation. Of course, these are not my personal insights: the book "Applied .NET Attributes" provides a complete example of creating a custom attribute and a custom C# compiler to reflect upon that attribute at compilation (the example is used to implement "java-style checked exceptions").

  • Cisco ASA Site-to-Site VPN Dropping

    I have three sites, Toronto (1.1.1.1), Mississauga (2.2.2.2) and San Francisco (3.3.3.3). All three sites have ASA 5520. All the sites are connected together with two site-to-site VPN links between each other location. My issue is that the tunnel between Toronto and San Francisco is very unstable, dropping every 40 min to 60 mins. The tunnel between Toronto and Mississauga (which is configured in the same manner) is fine with no drops. I also noticed that my pings with drop but the ASA thinks that the tunnel is still up and running. Here is the configuration of the tunnel.   • How to explain to users the advantages of dumb primary key?

    Primary key attractiveness I have a boss(and also users) that wants primary key to be sophisticated/smart/attractive control number(sort of like Social Security number, or credit card number format) I just padded the primary key(in Views) with zeroes to appease their desire to make the control number sophisticated,smart and attractive. But they wanted it as: first 2 digits as client code, then 4 digits as year year, then last 4 digits as transaction number on that client on a given year, then reset the transaction number of client to 1 when next year flows. Each client's transaction starts with 1. e.g. WM20090001, WM20090002, BB2009001, WM20100001, BB20100001 But as I wanted to make things as simple as possible, I forgo embedding their suggested smartness in primary key, I just keep the primary key auto increments regardless of client and year. But to make it not dull-looking(they really are adamant to make the primary key as smart control number), I made the primary key appears to them smart, on view query, I put the client code and four digit year code on front of the eight-zero padded autoincrement key, i.e. WM200900000001. Sort of slug-like information on autoincremented primary key. Keeping primary key autoincrement regardless of any other information, we are able keep other potential side effects problem when they edit a record, for example, if they made a mistake of entering the transaction on WM, then they edit the client code to BB, if we use smart primary key, the primary keys of WM customer will have gaps in their control number. Or worse yet, instead of letting the control numbers have gaps/holes, the user will request that subsequent records of that gap should shift up to that gap and have their subsequent primary keys re-adjust(decremented). How do you deal with these user requests(reasonable or otherwise)? Do you yield to their request? Or just continue using dumb primary key and explain them the repercussions of having a very smart/sophisticated primary key and educate them the significant advantages of having a dumb primary key?   • Possible to lock attribute write access by Doors User?

    Is it possible to programmatically lock certain attributes based on the user? So certain attributes can be written to by User2 and certain attributes cannot be written to by User2. However, User1 may have write access to all attributes. What is the most efficient way of accomplishing this? I have to worry about not taking up too many computational resources, as I would like this to be able to work on quite large modules.

  • Bad motherboard / controller / HDs?

    On a leased server, I am running into some timing issues with an application that requires precise timing. Server is a Dual Xeon E5410 running on a Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard under CentOs 5.5 x64. The application I am running is timer sensitive and keeps sensing drift whether under load or at idle, but especially under load. I did some investigating with atop and dd and found some mind-blowing numbers. Mind you, I am no Linux guru but something sure seems out of whack. I ran: dd bs=4096 if=/dev/zero of=/bigtestfile to generate disk activity. Regardless whether I wrote it to sda or sdb my DSK value in atop would go over 100%, at one time peaking at 1700%. Again it does not matter if I am writing to sda or sdb.
