  • Model Validation for record creation in rails

    - by Elliot
    Hey Guys, Lets say the model for books is: created_at user_id (int) author_id (int) genre_id (int) pages (int) I want to let people change the "created_at" field upon record creation. I also want to make sure that a record can't have the exact same created_at, user_id, and author_id as any other record (i.e. each needs its own date). Whats the best to perform this type of validation, and how should I go about doing it? Best, Elliot

  • CSS rgba Background Color Validation

    - by SHiNKiROU
    I found a weird CSS validation result: when rgba() is used to background, it does not validate, however, the workaround is rgba() for background-color. Why that rule exists? Is it a validator's bug? Try to validate the following there, and you can see the result: div { background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); } and div { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); }

  • Should we have Browser Side Validation

    - by Raju
    For a back office application which is going to be used in house and users trained to use it, does it make sense to have browser side validation. After training users will seldom make mistakes. These mistakes would get caught at the server side. Also bearing in mind that the bandwidth availability is a lesser concern I feel we should avoid browser side validations. This will save the effort of maintaining the same functionality at two places.

    - by Sriyani Rathnayaka
    I added a word counter to a my form's textarea... it is something like this... <div> <label>About you:</label> <textarea id="qualification" class="textarea hint_needed" rows="4" cols="30" ></textarea> <span class="hint">explain about you</span> <script type="text/javascript"> $("textarea").textareaCounter(); </script> </div> My problem is when I add textaracounter() like this my validation hint is not working.. when I remover the counter function validation hint is working... this is the jquery for hint message.. $(".hint").css({ "display":"none" }); $("input.hint_needed, select.hint_needed, textarea.hint_needed, radio.hint_needed").on("mouseenter", function() { $(this).next(".hint").css({ "display":"inline" }); }).on("mouseleave", function() { $(this).next(".hint").css({ "display":"none" }); }); this is for the word counter..   • App Engine Django Form Uniqueness Validation?

    - by GeekTantra
    Is there a simpler way to use uniqueness validation with Django Forms in AppEngine? I understand that performance would be problem if we keep an uniqueness constraint but since the amount of data being added is very small performance is not a big concern, rather development time is a concern here. Any help is appreciated.

    Recently I saw this document that specify how great is Caliburn(Not really it compares it to the micro framework, and thats enough).
