  Hi there, I'm looking for a fast SSL socket client basically talks SSL with remote service and I need features like connection pooling/limiting so that my other client calling this ssl socket can basically issue as many as requests and it will handle it peacefully. I looked into openssl s_client, but it says it's only for testing purpose, is there a handy tool avaiable? STunnel seems to be okay, but don't have that connection limiting option I need. Cheers.

• GlassFish will not start when SNMP is enabled

  I have a GlassFish v3 app server running on 64-bit Debian Lenny. Everything is running fine, except I would like to monitor GF's JVM instance with SNMP. However, every time I try to enable it by adding the following <jvm-options> in domain.xml: -Dcom.sun.management.snmp.port=10161 -Dcom.sun.management.snmp.acl.file=/path/to/snmp.acl -Dcom.sun.management.snmp.interface=127.0.0.1 GlassFish refuses to start: $ asadmin start-domain Waiting for DAS to start .Error starting domain: default. The server exited prematurely with exit code 1. Command start-domain failed. $ There is also nothing illuminating (well, really nothing at all) in jvm.log or server.log. Last friday we installed some windows updates. After the reboot tomcat doesnt start with error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap We reduced the parameter -Xmx1024m to -Xmx768m and now tomcat starts. • Web browser being selective about the sites that it will visit.

  I've been trying to help my father-in-law with this problem but haven't been able to get anywhere. Since the weekend the web browsers on his computer (Chrome and Internet Explorer on Windows XP) will only let him get to certain sites - for example, he is able to conduct his online banking but he cannot visit www.bbc.co.uk, www.amazon.co.uk or www.ancestry.com. There is another computer in the house that goes via the same router and this can connect to both, which suggests it is his machine. I tried running a tracert to www.bbc.co.uk and managed to get through, but the web browser hangs with a message that it is waiting for a response. I tried using the WinSockFix tool in case it was anything to do with a recent registry change but that didn't work either. He can't think of anything that he recently did on his machine to cause the problem. Can anyone help?

  I have a small website where some content is displayed within a HTML tag using AJAX. The content is simply taken from another page on the same web site. However, sometimes instead of loading the parsed PHP file, the browser displays a download box instead. I downloaded the file and this is what it looks like a text file mixed with binary or gzipped data.   Hello all, Recently, I could not access the webpage bbc.co.uk anymore, while I can access other websites smoothly. Ar first, I though there may be some problem with my laptop. However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me please? Thank you.

• JBoss thrown error looking up local address when starting

  Hello im installing a fresh Jboss 5.1 in a Centos 5.5 machine. I dont have Apache installed. After that i can run Jboss only from 127.0.0.1:8080 but using localhost:8080 doesnt work. I think its a centos configuration problem but im a total newbye managing ports and maybe firewalls, so what do you think could be the problem?

• How to set up Windows server 2008 to receive email?

  First off apologies, I'm from a medical background not a networking one, but I've got roped into setting up a windows 2008 server. So far web server running, fixed IP address assigned (within a large private network of the National Health Service in the UK if that makes any difference) and the network team have assigned a DNS entry for me which works, so the server can be addressed as nww.myserver.nhs.uk I've only got ports open on the router for 80 and 443 (http and https) at the moment, so presume I need a different port to enable email services. My need is to be able to accept an email to the domain name like [email protected].uk in order to pick up a confirmation mail from an SSL issuer (Comodo) I guess to confirm that I control the domain. After that I don't actually need mail services on the server. I see lots of stuff about setting up SMTP services but thought that was about mail out and re-routing, but how do you get the server to "listen" for mail to the domain (assuming I open port xyz or whatever it is) ?

• sshd running but no PID file

  I'm recently started using monit to monitor the status of sshd on my CentOS 5.4 server. This works fine, but every so often monit reports that sshd is no longer running. This isn't true - I am still able to login to the server via ssh, however I note the following: There is no longer any PID file at /var/run/sshd.pid - after a reboot this file exists. Once it is gone, restarting sshd via service sshd restart does not create the PID file. sudo service sshd status reports openssh-daemon is stopped - again, restarting sshd does not change this, but a reboot does. sudo service sshd stop reports failed, presumably because of the missing PID file. Any idea what is going on? Update sudo netstat -lptun gives the following output relating to port 22 tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 20735/sshd Killing the process with this PID as suggested by @Henry and then starting sshd via service results in service sshd status recognising the process by PID again. Would still like to understand this better. RPM verify suggested by a couple of answerers shows this: sudo rpm -vV openssh openssh-server openssh-clients | grep 'S\.5' S.5....T c /etc/pam.d/sshd S.5....T c /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/pam.d/sshd has the following contents: #%PAM-1.0 auth include system-auth account required pam_nologin.so account include system-auth password include system-auth session optional pam_keyinit.so force revoke session include system-auth #session required pam_loginuid.so Should that last line be commented out? • Nginx redirect one path to another

  I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find a solution that works. A website has switched CMS services, but has the same domain, how do I set up an nginx rewrite for a single page? E.g. Old Page http://sitedomain.co.uk/content/unique-page-name New page http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name Please note, I don't want everything within the content page to be redirected, but literally just the url mentioned above. I have about 9 redirects to set up, non of which fit in a pattern. Thanks! Edit: I found this solution, which seems to be working, except for the fact that it redirects without a slash: if ( $request_filename ~ content/unique-page-name/ ) { rewrite ^ http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name/? permanent; } But this redirects to: http://sitedomain.co.uknew-name/unique-page-name/

• htaccess redirect from wordpress page to a php page

  I have recently had to change a URL on a website (in PHP on Apache). The old URL is: http://content.mywebsite.org.uk/hidden/discounts/ When a user visits the above link. The new URL is: http://www.mywebsite.org.uk/charity_benefits.php I have tried variants of the following (and some others), but its just not working for me. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/hidden/discounts/$ [NC] RewriteRule ^/hidden/discounts/$ /charity_benefits.php [R=302,L,NC] I need the redirect to redirect to www mywebsite.org.uk. (Notice the www! Its important!). So basically, a simple redirect from the old page to the new page. (Which are on different subdomains (OLD: content., NEW: www.) which are hosted on the same server).

  I have setup a virtual host which specifies a default file to load when the URL is called. The problem I have is that I need that default DirectoryIndex file to appear in the URL. So when I go to: www.mysite.co.uk, I want www.mysite.co.uk/app.php to appear in the URL. How can I achieve this using my virtual host configuration within my apache.conf file?
