  • Stored Procedure Permissions Problem

    I have migrated a set of SQL 2000 databases to SQL 2008. Most is working well, however I have some stored procedures that scheduled and run by SQL Server Agent jobs that are giving me troubles. Many of the scheduled stored procedures work, but the stored procs that access a database other than the default databases are failing with the following message: Executed as user: XYZ\YadaYada. The server principal: "XYZ\YadaYada" is not able to access the database "MyOtherDatabaseOnSameServer" under the current security context. [SQL STATE 08004](Error 619) The step failed. Obviously, I changed the names to protect the guilty. The account is a user in all of the relavent databases and is a memeber of db_owner, db_datareader, and db_datawriter. When I run these same procedures from a query window in SMS using the same accounts (I have tried many) they work fine. What am I missing?

  • PHP OO vs Procedure with AJAX

    I currently have a AJAX heavy(almost everything) intranet webapp for a business. It is highly modularized(components and modules ala Joomla), with plenty of folders and files. ~ 80-100 different viewing pages (each very unique in it's own sense) on last count and will likely to increase in the near future. I based around the design around commands and screens, the client request a command and sends the required data and receives the data that is displayed via javascript on the screen. That said, there are generally two types of files, a display files with html, javascript, and a little php for templating. And also a php backend file with a single switch statement with actions such as, save, update and delete and maybe other function. There is very little code reuse. Recently, I have been adding an server sided undo function that requires me to reuse some code. So, I took the chance to try out OOP but I notice that some functions are so simple, that creating a class, retrieving all the data then update all the related rows on the database seems like overkill for a simple action as speed is quite critical. Also I noticed there is only one class in an entire file. So, what if the entire php is a class. So, between creating a class and methods, and using global variables and functions. Which is faster?

  • Standard procedure for confirming email for a web app

    Hi! I have created a web app that is almost finished. I need it to confirm new emails. I just want to know if the these are the right procedures for that, because I'm not familiar with this. I create a new table called "confirmEmails" with only one column with uniqueId. A unique Id is created with PHP: uniqueid() which is created directly after a user hit the submit button. And the php script stores it on the table. An email is sent together with a link www.domain.com/confirmEmail.php?uniqueId=kushfpuhrufhufhfhuhfheriufhehu. I have an another php script called confirmEmail.php that gets the value if uniqueId through the link with $_GET['uniqueId'];(maybe I shall use post instead her). And now it stores the new email in table called user Is it right procedures? Pls give me some feedback!

In spTest's body sp_trace_generateevent is called. sp_trace_generateevent requires alter trace permissions and I don't want user to have it. So I would like user to be able to execute spTest.     I am creating a scoring application which is dependent upon what a user selects at the beginning menu. Example: If a user clicks 18, I want it to base itself off 18 holes of golf. If a user clicks 9, I want it to base itself off 9 holes of golf. Is it better to create a separate class for the code for 9 holes, and then another for 18 holes and then launch whichever depending on what the user selects? Or should I keep everything in 1 file and use a global variable to define different parameters? Still very new to android programming (or programming in general) so not sure of the proper "etiquette" if you will... Also what would be the pro's and con's of doing it either way? (If any) Thanks in advance!

    I need to write a sproc which performs some INSERTs on a table, and compile a list of "statuses" for each row based on how well the INSERT went. Each row will be inserted within a loop, the loop iterates over a cursor that supplies some values for the INSERT statement. What I need to return is a resultset which looks like this: FIELDS_FROM_ROW_BEING_INSERTED.., STATUS VARCHAR2 The STATUS is determined by how the INSERT went. For instance, if the INSERT caused a DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX exception indicating there was a duplicate row, I'd set the STATUS to "Dupe". If all went well, I'd set it to "SUCCESS" and proceed to the next row. By the end of it all, I'd have a resultset of N rows, where N is the number of insert statements performed and each row contains some identifying info for the row being inserted, along with the "STATUS" of the insertion Since there is no table in my DB to store the values I'd like to pass back to the user, I'm wondering how I can return the info back? Temporary table? Seems in Oracle temporary tables are "global", not sure I would want a global table, are there any temporary tables that get dropped after a session is done?

    Hi all, the business logic in my application requires me to insert a row in table X when a row is inserted in table Y. Furthermore, it should only do it between specific times(which I have to query another table for). I have considered running a script every 5 minutes or so to check this, but I stumbled upon triggers and figured this might be a better way to do it. But I find the syntax for procedures a little bewildering and I keep getting an error I have no idea how to fix.     Hi, I am not sure the correct terminology for the process that I am trying to describe. I don't even know which platform is underlying the technique. If you understand my description, please give the link to the site(s) and or the keyword name of the process. I think it is done by AJAX, but I am not certain. I use php as the backend code, I just need to find a way to dynamically display the results. Please give suggestions. I forgot the name of the sites that use this, and my link history expired. TIA Description: The page would have a search form and options. After the user submits, the search is initiated, and the results appear inside the dedicated result area. The page does not refresh, just the info inside the result area. The display area will show 20 (or whatever) results (lines). There will be next, and previous buttons. If you hit next, the next set of results will display. I am writing a code that generates 20 results for each display. There is no set number of results, so the results might have a start/first page, but do not have an end page. Each time the user hits 'next', the program would generate/load new results. It would also store previous results, so that when a user hits 'prev', the previous results can instantly come up. What techniques/program are theses?

I remember that in the past I did something like this but today this query is returning nothing, no error, no data, just nothing... the query is something like this: SELECT field1, @variableX:=field2 FROM table WHERE (SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=0)0 AND (SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=4)=0; I also tried this query but it didnt work (also it gaves no error): SELECT field1, @variableX:=field2, @variableY:=(SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=0), @variableZ:=(SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=4) FROM table WHERE @variableY0 AND @variableZ=0; As you can see, what Im trying to do in the 1st query is use a variable in the conditions; in the 2nd query Im trying to create some variables and evaluate them in the conditions. There are 30 coders working for this project. Everone adds, deletes, and changes procedures, table columns etc. We need a program to store our database scripts like visual studio's team foundation server. See the change history of script file. Everyone must access that program and be able to put their scripts. Recover previous versions of script file. Execute these scripts over a selected database. Compare databases by procedures (not only by name, by content of procedure), functions, table columns, packages etc. I am searching a program like that. Which one do you suggest me?
