    I am trying to install Visual Studio 2012 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine, but installation fails. I tried to install all version (premium, ultimate etc..) but getting below error. Machine is not domain joined and logged in as administrative user. I was using Security Essentials but turn it off before the installation. Installation source is from MSDN. Error log is too big to upload, important portion from the log: [2B6C:2580][2012-09-16T23:06:40]: MUX: ERROR: The type initializer for 'System.Windows.Media.FontFamily' threw an exception.

    I have been reinstalling windows 7 over and over again on an ASUS P5lD2 2Gb Ram 3Ghz P4 because it ultimately looses the contents of "Turn Windows Features On or Off" after I install software like Autocad 2010 & Microsoft Office 2007. I get install errors like 1935 and 1704 on the way tried different fixes at different times (install software in different order to try and isolate problem too). Ultimately I force the software to install after much buggering and end up loosing the contents of "TWFOOO" Should I be installing some older items like .net framework 1.1, 2.0 and visual studio items like vcredist_x86.exe? getting a bit lost because of compounded problems...

    I'm trying to install Visual Studio 2005 in Windows 7. When attempting to start, Windows 7 complains that VS2005 is incompatible with Windows 7 and offers me to search online for a solution. It comes up with a link to VS2005 SP1 for Vista and Windows 7, but when I download it (VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU.exe) and try to run it, it refuses to install saying that The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

  • Visual Studio .NET 2003 on Windows 7 hangs on search

    So I have Visual Studio 2003 running on Windows 7 - yeah I am aware it isn't officially supported - and no, unfortunately I can't change that situation :-( For the most part it works OK but I have a specific problem, that I can't figure out. The application hangs if you do a project wide search (Ctrl - Shift - F) for a string. I have a reasonably powerful machine and all the other heavy tasks like compiling and debugging all work fine. It also works if I restrict the search to the current document (Ctrl - F). I am running it as administrator and VS.NET 2003 SP1 has been applied. The size of the project does not seem to be a problem since a colleague is also experiencing this issue for a single project solution containing 5 pages. I am currently using Windows Search as a work-around and I was wondering if there is something I missed that I should try. PS: I have asked this question on stack overflow as well - but I suspect this might be problem with Windows 7 OS - so I thought I'd cross post it here as well.

  • Visual Studio 10 Disable Find Autocomplete

    When I misspell something in Visual Studio 10's find box (the one that shows in the editor's main window, not the popup window "Find and Replace" window), VS10 autocompletes to that misspelled word whenever I try fixing it. A Ctrl+Z will remove the entire autocompletion, including the last character I typed (which it can case change!). Backspacing and retyping will still autocomplete to the misspelled word. Only a cut and paste seems to work. Is there a way to disable this horrible feature!? This is a picture of the find box that I am talking about:

  • Publish database between two open database connections (Visual Studio 2005)

    I have two data locations, one to a local and one to a remote database. How do I copy the local database schema to the remote? The reason I don't use "Publish to provider" is that I'm not sure that I have all the information necessary to do so. I have the database name, server, username and pass but not "web service address" nor "web service password". I work in Visual Studio 2005. The server is a MSSQL 2005 server. I have tried using the queries but I only get errors doing so.

    I have three days to get a new laptop before I need one that can run Visual Studio 2010. Normally I have two instances open, an instance of SQL Management studio, IIS, and a few web browsers. Who develops regularly on one, what are the specs I should look at targeting? I haven't bought a laptop in 5 years, so I'm way out of touch with where they are at as far as specs go. Thanks. ps.   • Visual Studio 2012 window border leaks onto other screen

    I have several 30" monitors and as a result, I use the Win+Left/Right to tile windows to the left and right side of each screen. I've noticed an annoying feature of Visual Studio 2012 is that it seems to "leak" onto the next screen. I can see a line on the adjacent screen as if the edge of the window is slightly over the border. Anyone else see this? Is it a bug? This is on Windows 7 64 bit. I've never seen this with any other application.

  • Visual Studio 2012 intermittent lockup

    Visual Studio 2012 intermittently locks up on me. I notice that devenv.exe jumps to 50% CPU utilization. The CPU stays at this level for a few minutes and then drops. While its at 50% utilization I can still use the IDE. However, intermittently it stops responding (as though it was performing some sort of background process). It only lasts for a few seconds. Also this happens when debugging. I'm running under Windows 7 and I'm using Telerik controls. I've disabled add-ins and extensions and have had no success. Any ideas would be appreciated? Thanks

  • Debug an Eclipse plugin in a different language?

    I'm trying to debug an Eclipse plug-in when it is running in another language (japanese). The problem I'm encountering is: I can't get the Eclipse debugger to run another Eclipse instance in another language. I've got all my strings externalized to resource bundles ... and, when the plug-in is installed in Eclipse on a machine that has it's default language set to Japanese, it runs OK ... but there are a few problems that I need to resolve. I've tried setting the Eclipse -nl parameter to ja_JP along with '-Duser.language=ja -Duser.country=JP' on the VM arguments, but every time Eclipse is launched, everything is in English. Any suggestions on how I can get the debugger to launch the Eclipse instance in Japanese?

From my perspective, it should just try to pull down hibernate w/o inserting the groupId, but maybe i'm not understanding how i'm supposed to run this command?

  • Blackberry Eclispe plugin and emulator

    So I installed the following installation packages to develop Blackberry apps using the included emulators. I first installed them on a macbook pro, virtualizing windows 7 x86 with vmware. Everything worked fine, I created a quick HelloWorld app and it compiled and fully ran in the emulator. I did no other configuration. So I went to install this on my desktop PC with Windows 7 x64. I installed the exact same items. When I choose to run with the Blackberry Emulator, nothing happens. Any ideas?     I've installed the following Team repository plugins (along with it's dependencies) for Eclipse Helios (using Eclipse updater). MercurialEclipse 1.7.1 Subclipse 1.6.17 Subversive SVN All of these are the latest in Eclipse Marketplace. My problem is when I go to Eclipse "Preferences", under "Team" I only see CVS but under Eclipse Marketplace, I can see that these plugins are installed (it gives me an option to uninstall it). How do I configure my Team repositories to reflect under "Team" in Preferences? Also, there is an update for "Eclipse IDE for Java EE developers, but when I try to update it, the following error occurs: Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
