• WCF Client - Best Practise

  I just wanted to hear your Opinion about a WCF Client implementation. I have an Server that provides several services like SecurityManager. This service is defined in the Interface ISecurityManager and implemented in the Class SecurityManager. So far everything is fine. On the Client side I want to implement the services calls via a seperated Class. My question is whether I do this also in an SecurityManager Class which implements the same ISecurityManager Interface? What is here the best practise? Thanks.

I require to call service for Window Application and i am using below code to open service Host, using (ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost( typeof(class1), new Uri[] { new Uri("net.pipe://localhost") }) ) { } & Then we have clinet Console application to connect to serviceHost. Problem is, When i create service/Client application Using Conslole Application both are working fine. But if i call servide code form Window application to connect to console client it gives Error for Binding Error like("No End Point/Address found to test") Can any one help me to run service from C# window application ? • What should i expect on an online C++ test

I just got a call back from an employer and he advised me i have made it through to the next round of interviews and would have to take an online C++ test through IKM (http://www.ikmnet.com/). Has anyone here got any advise as to what type of questions this test will ask, or has anyone got advise about what i should do a brush up on to do the best i could on this test. • WCF contract mismatch problem

  Hi there, I have a client console app talking to a WCF service and I get the following error: "The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error." I think it's becuase of a contract mismatch but i can't figure out why. The service runs just fine by itself and the 2 parts were working together until i added the impersonation code. Can anyone see what is wrong? • WCF errors in VS 2010/.Net 4 using sample publish/subscribe app from IDesign website

  I am attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign). The application is an example of a publish/subscribe 'traffic-light' application that requires using VS 2010/.Net 4. This is my first attempt at using anything other than VS 2008/Net 3.5. • Strange WCF Error - IIS hosted - context being aborted

  I have a WCF service that does some document conversions and returns the document to the caller. When developing locally on my local dev server, the service is hosted on ASP.NET Development server, a console application invokes the operation and executes within seconds. When I host the service in IIS via a .svc file, two of the documents work correctly, the third one bombs out, it begins to construct the word document using the OpenXml Sdk, but then just dies. I think this has something to do with IIS, but I cannot put my finger on it. There are a total of three types of documents I generate. In a nutshell this is how it works SQL 2005 DB/IBM DB2 - WCF Service written by other developer to expose data. This service only has one endpoint using basicHttpBinding My Service invokes his service, gets the relevant data, uses the Open Xml Sdk to generate a Microsoft Word Document, saves it on a server and returns the path to the user. The word documents are no bigger than 100KB. I am also using basicHttpBinding although I have tried wsHttpBinding with the same results. What is amazing is how fast it is locally, and even more that two of the documents generate just fine, its the third document type that refuses to work. To the error message: An error occured while receiving the HTTP Response to http://myservername.mydomain.inc/MyService/Service.Svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP Protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the server shutting down). See server logs for more details. I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what is going on, I have tried everything, including changing the maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferSize, maxBufferPoolSize, etc etc to large values, I even included: <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="120"/> To see maybe if IIS was choking because of that. Programatically the service does nothing special, it just constructs the word documents from the data using the Open Xml Sdk and like I said, locally all 3 documents work when invoked via a console app running locally on the asp.net dev server, i.e. http://localhost:3332/myService.svc When I host it on IIS and I try to get a Windows Forms application to invoke it, I get the error. I know you will ask for logs, so yes I have logging enabled on my Host. And there is no error in the logs, I am logging everything. Basically I invoke two service operations written by another developer. MyOperation calls - HisOperation1 and then HisOperation2, both of those calls give me complex types. I am going to look at his code tomorrow, because he is using LINQ2SQL and there may be some funny business going on there. He is using a variety of collections etc, but the fact that I can run the exact same document, lets call it "Document 3" within seconds when the service is being hosted locally on ASP WebDev Server is what is most odd, why would it run on scaled down Cassini and blow up on IIS? From the log it seems, after calling HisOperation1 and HisOperation2 the service just goes into la-la land dies, there is a application pool (w3wp.exe) error in the Windows Event Log. Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.3311, stamp 49c5225e, debug? 0, fault address 0x00015dfa. It's classified as .NET 2.0 Runtime error. Any help is appreciated, the lack of sleep is getting to me. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

• Enteprise Library Exception Handling for WCF Fault Contracts - CLIENT SIDE

  I have a Windows Service which communicates with WCF services. The WCF services are all fault shielded and generate custom UserFaultContracts and ServiceFaultContracts. No problems there. In the Windows Service I am using EntLib for exception handling and logging. This is where I am unglued. And I hate becoming unglued. The fault is captured and logged...but I can't get the details of the fault.   I have a WCF service which is hosted on IIS6 on a Win2003 SP2 machine. The WCF service is hosting correctly and is visible over HTTP giving the usual "To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service" message. However accessing the .svc?WSDL link causes the connection to be reset. It works fine through the local dev server in VS2008 but fails after deployment. For further information, the targeted machine does not have a firewall (it's on the internal network) and the logs show the site thinks it's fine with 200 OK responses. I've also tried updating the endpoint with the full URL to my service however it still makes no difference. I have looked into some of the other options - creating a separate WSDL manually and exposing it through the metadata properties (really don't want to do that due to the maintenance issues). • How to prepare for a Java test?

  Ok so in two days I have a test for my dream job (well it's an internship, but still!) and for quite some time now I've been reading the SCJP Guide book in order to prepare myself. BUT seeing how slow my reading speed is I guess finding a website with some "java essentials" or "standard java test questions" and going through it in those 2 days would be a better idea. Don't misunderstand me, I do have java experience and it's "only" an internship, but we all know how programming tests look like and how tricky they can be. So are there any online resources you could recommend me? I know 2 days is not much, but well I was informed bout the test 1-2days ago.

• GlassFish Starting Up Java SE Client - No Initial Context Exception

  Hi I have developed a java se client that calls some session beans on a glassfish server. I connect to the bean remote interface like this. context = new InitialContext(); em = (ICrudService) context.lookup("java:global/BackITServer/CrudServiceImpl"); This works fine from inside eclipse (gf-client on build path). When I export my project as a runnable jar and call it on the console with java -jar BackItClient.jar I get a NoInitialContextException. MMMM. I would very much appreciate some help. • How to create a persistent connection using AS3 Sockets for a chat client

  I want to create a chat client in flash/flex for a chat server,something like a MUD/MOO client but I'm unable to create a persistent connection . I've been using the AS3 Socket class,but I'm getting disconnected from the server side,soon after the connection is made but the client still shows the 'connected' property as true .The server is asynchronous and was written in python using asyncore/asynchat, it works fine with most open source MOO/MUD clients . I tried connecting my program to a simple synchronous echo server,here both read and write worked fine with no disconnections from either side . So my question is how do I make a persistent connection with the server?

I would like to detect whether n2 was deleted using n1 pointer test. But this test results in exception. Is there any way how to determine whether the object was deleted (or was not deleted) using n1 pointer ? Thanks for your help.

  Hello, We currently have a WCF Service that works over https. But we want to change it to make it work over just http. • JUnit 4 test suite problems

  Hi, i have a problem with some JUnit 4 tests that i run with a test suite. If i run the tests individually they work with no problems but when run in a suite most of them, 90% of the test methods, fail with errors. What i noticed is that always the first tests works fine but the rest are failing. Another thing is that a few of the tests the methods are not executed in the right order (the reflection does not work as aspected - or it does because the retrieval of the methods is not necessarily in the created order). This usually happens if there is more than one test with methods that have the same name. I tried to debug some of the tests and it seems that from a line to the next the value of some attributes gets null. Does anyone know what is the problem, or if the behavior is "normal"? • REST WCF service locks thread when called using AJAX in an ASP.Net site

  I have a WCF REST service consumed in an ASP.Net site, from a page, using AJAX. I want to be able to call methods from my service async, which means I will have callback handlers in my javascript code and when the methods finish, the output will be updated. The methods should run in different threads, because each method will take different time to complete their task I have the code semi-working, but something strange is happening because the first time I execute the code after compiling, it works, running each call in a different threads but subsequent calls blocs the service, in such a way that each method call has to wait until the last call ends in order to execute the next one. And they are running on the same thread. • Reusing my PagedList object on WCF

  The problem: I have a custom collection PagedList<T> that is being returned from my WCF service as PagedListOfEntitySearchResultW_SH0Zpu5 when T is EntitySearchResult object. I want to reuse this PagedList<T> type between the application and the service. My scenario: I've created a PagedList<T> type that inherits from List<T>. This type is on a separated assembly that is referenced on both application and WCF service. I'm using the /reference option on the scvutil to enable the type reusing. I also don't want any arrays returned so I also use the /collection to map to the generic List type. • boost test case for function taking user input

  I have a function that takes in user input via std::cin: std::getline(std::cin, in); and creates a corresponding data structure by matching it with a regular expression. The function then returns this data structure. I'm using boost.test and I want to create a unit test to check that the output data type is correct given some inputs. However I don't know how to go about it since the input isn't passed as an argument to the function. EDIT: Is there a simple way to create a boost test case that feeds the function a string via standard input?

  I use my main laptop and old SunRay thin client hardware at my office.I set up Synergy for keyboard/mouse/clipboard sharing and I thought I hit this issue.  Bug #3002 - Mouse Pointer Invisible on Client PC - SynergyRDP and a thin client setup I found this workaround. Turning "Display pointer trails" on somehow made mymouse appear on thin client side.  This may or may not work in different kind of Oracle VDI setup or other vendors' thin client.
