    I am trying to access the YouTube API with the Zend libraries that I have included like this (the full path to the Zend library is components/lib/Zend/Gdata.php): //Include Zend Gdata set_include_path('components/lib'); include("Zend/Gdata.php"); I now try to use the framework thus: //Access video data via Zend library $yt = new Zend_Gdata_YouTube(); However when running the script it returns: Fatal error: Class 'Zend_Gdata_YouTube' not found in E:\inetpub\students\fit3060\20712510\ass2\results.php on line 48 I think I have not included the Zend library properly or declared the include path correctly?

  • Do you have to use zf tool when creating controller, model, action etc... in zend framework

    I am using zend framework 1.10. I use the zf tool to create controllers, actions and everything else. It is handy, but I am now seeing that when it modifies existing controller files to add new actions it realigns my code and removes some function closing brackets. I then see all these errors in eclipse. I see that everytime i issue a zf command it modifies the .zfproject file. Is this file critical at all? I want to be able to create whatever I want by myself without the zf tool and worrying about that .zfproject file.

  • Different database for Membership and our web data or use just one?

    Is better to keep our Membership stuff on the DefaultConnection and create another connection (another database) for our data? Or just one database for all? If I have a MyAppContext and I want migrations for that context, It seems that I cannot have migrations for UserContext (In other words, I can just migrate one context) So, having two different databases I can migrate or the users (maybe membership migration is weird) or the web data. Or, I can mix the UserContext and MyAppContext in one UserAndAppContext and migrate all in one place, but this mixing also seems weird. What's the normal way to do this, one or two databases and what should be migrated?

  • Why should I use List<T> over IEnumerable<T>?

    In my ASP.net MVC4 web application I use IEnumerables, trying to follow the mantra to program to the interface, not the implementation. Return IEnumerable(Of Student) vs Return New List(Of Student) People are telling me to use List and not IEnumerable, because lists force the query to be executed and IEumerable does not. Is this really best practice? Is there any alternative? I feel strange using concrete objects where an interface could be used. Is my strange feeling justified?

    I have a created a simple doctrine2/zend skeleton project and am trying to get unit testing working with zend studio. The tests work perfectly through the PHPunit CLI but I just can't get them to work in zend studio.   • Where to put default-servlet-handler in Spring MVC configuration

    In my web.xml, the default servlet mapping, i.e. /, is mapped to Spring dispatcher. In my Spring dispatcher configuration, I have DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping, ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping and AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter which allows me to map url to controllers either by its class name or its @Requestmapping annotation. However, there are some static resources under the web root which I also want spring dispatcher to serve using default servlet. According to Spring documentation, this can be done using <mvc:default-servlet-handler/> tag. In the configuration below, there are 4 candidate locations that I marked which are possible to insert this tag. Inserting the tag in different location causes the dispatcher to behave differently as following : Case 1 : If I insert it at location 1, the dispatcher will no longer be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name but it will be serving the static content normally. Cas 2, 3 : It will be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name as well as serving the static content if other mapping cannot be done successfully. Case 4 : It will not be able to serve the static contents.     When running the MVC 2 Areas example that has a Blog Area and Blog Controller the URL looks like this: http://localhost:50526/Blog/Blog/ShowRecent in the format: RootUrl / AreaName / ControllerName / ActionName Having just discovered MVC Areas, it seem like a great way to organise code, ie create an Area for each section, which in my case each section has its own controller. This means that each AreaName = ControllerName. The effect of this is the double AreaName/ControllerName path in the Url eg /Blog/Blog/ above Not having a complete clear understanding of routing, how could I setup routing to not show the AreaName?

As far as I can tell: Controller: deals with routing requests View: deals with presentation of data Model: looks a whole lot like a Data Access layer Where does the Business Logic go? Take a large enterprise application with: Several different sources of data (WCF, WebServices and ADO) tied together in a data access layer (useing multiple different DTOs). A lot business logic segmented over several dlls. What is an appropriate way for an MVC web application to sit on top of this (in terms of code and project structure)? The example I have seen where everything just goes in the Model folder don't seem like they are appropriate for very large applications. Thanks for any advice!

  • Executing logic before save or validation with EF Code-First Models

    I'm still getting accustomed to EF Code First, having spent years working with the Ruby ORM, ActiveRecord. ActiveRecord used to have all sorts of callbacks like before_validation and before_save, where it was possible to modify the object before it would be sent off to the data layer. I am wondering if there is an equivalent technique in EF Code First object modeling. I know how to set object members at the time of instantiation, of course, (to set default values and so forth) but sometimes you need to intervene at different moments in the object lifecycle. To use a slightly contrived example, say I have a join table linking Authors and Plays, represented with a corresponding Authoring object: public class Authoring { public int ID { get; set; } [Required] public int Position { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Play Play { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Author Author { get; set; } } where Position represents a zero-indexed ordering of the Authors associated to a given Play. (You might have a single "South Pacific" Play with two authors: a "Rodgers" author with a Position 0 and a "Hammerstein" author with a Position 1.) Let's say I wanted to create a method that, before saving away an Authoring record, it checked to see if there were any existing authors for the Play to which it was associated. If no, it set the Position to 0. If yes, it would find set the Position of the highest value associated with that Play and increment by one. Where would I implement such logic within an EF code first model layer? And, in other cases, what if I wanted to massage data in code before it is checked for validation errors? Basically, I'm looking for an equivalent to the Rails lifecycle hooks mentioned above, or some way to fake it at least. :)

  • ZF-Autoloader not working in UnitTests on Ubuntu

    i got a problem regarding Unit-testing a Zend-Framework application under Ubuntu 12.04. The project-structure is a default zend application whereas the models are defined as the following ./application ./models ./DbTable ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_DbTable_ProjectStatus) ./Mappers ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_Mapper_ProjectStatus) ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_ProjectStatus) The Problem here is with the Zend-specific autoloading. The naming convention here appears that the folder Mappers loads all classes with _Mapper but not _Mappers. This is some internal Zend behavior which is fine so far. On my windows machine the phpunit runs without any Problems, trying to initiate all those classes. On my Ubuntu machine however with jenkins running on it, phpunit fails to find the appropriate classes giving me the following error Fatal error: Class 'Application_Model_Mapper_ProjectStatus' not found in /var/lib/jenkins/jobs/PAM/workspace/tests/application/models/Mapper/ProjectStatusTest.php on line 39 The error appears to really be that the Zend-Autoloader doesn't load from the ubuntu machine, but i can't figure out how or why this works. The question remains of why this is. I think i've double checked every point of contact with the zend autoloading stuff, but i just can't figure this out. I'll paste the - from my point of view relevant snippets - and hope someone of you has any insight to this. Using the standard MVC 2 view engine, I would like to have an editor that shows real time changes in the browser. If I re-arrange div elements containing standard HTML and some server side components, I would like the browser to update without a manual refresh. Are there any tools that are currently available that would meet that requirement?

For instance, in the service layer code sample there is a method public IEnumerable<Contact> ListContacts() { return _repository.ListContacts(); } If instead you wanted a IEnumerable, should it go in the service layer, or is there somewhere else that is the "correct" place? Perhaps more appropriately, if you have a separate viewmodel for each view associated with ContactController, should ContactManagerService have a separate method to return each viewmodel? If the service layer is not the proper place, where should viewmodel objects be initialized for use by the controller?

    When I load the homepage of a ZF site I get a message saying "Invalid controller specified (error)" where "error" seems to be the name of the controller.     All, I am working on a Zend Framework based web application. We keep encountering out of memory errors on our dev server: Allowed memory size of XXXX bytes exhausted (tried YYYY... We keep increasing memory_limit in php.ini, but it is now up over 1000 megs. What is a normal memory_limit value? What are the usual suspects in php/Zend for running out of memory? We are using the Propel ORM. Thanks for all of the help! Update I cannot reproduce this error in my windows environment. If I set memory_limit low (say 16M), I get the same error, but the "tried to allocate" amount is always something reasonable. For example: (tried to allocate 13344 bytes) If I set the memory very low on the (Fedora 9) server (such as 16M), I get the same thing. consistent, reasonable out of memory errors. However, even when the memory limit is set very high on our server (128M, for example), maybe once a week, I will get an crazy huge memory error: (tried to allocate 1846026201 bytes). I don't know if that might shed any more light onto what is going on. We are using propel 1.5. It sounds like the actual release is going to come out later this month, but it doesn't look like anyone else is having this problem with it anyway. I don't know that Propel is the problem. We are using Zend Server with php 5.2 on the Linux box, and 5.3 locally. Any more ideas? I have a ticket out to get Xdebug installed on the Linux box. Thanks, -rep

How can I do this? Ex: //Error thrown by the code.     Hi, I'm creating a library component for other developers on my team using PHP and Zend. This component needs to be able to take as input a date (string) and another string telling it the format of that date. Looking through the Zend documentation and examples, I thought I found the solution - $dateObject = Zend_Date('13.04.2006', array('date_format' => 'dd.MM.yyyy')); this line, however, throws an error - call to undefined function. So instead I tried this - $dt = Zend_Locale_Format::getDate('13.04.2006', array('date_format' => 'dd.MM.yyyy')); This gets the job done, but throws an error if a date that is entered isn't valid. The docs make it look like you can use the isDate() function to check validity - Zend_Date::isDate('13.04.2006', array('date_format' => 'dd.MM.yyyy')) but this line always returns false. So my questions - Am I going about this the right way? If not, is there a better way to handle this via Zend or straight PHP? If I do use Zend_Locale_Format::getDate(), do I need to worry about a locale being set elsewhere and changing the results of the call? I'm locked into PHP 5.2.6 on windows, btw... so 5.3+ functions & strptime() are out.

    Hello everyone, Lately I had to reinstall my development site on my ubuntu machine since my system crashed after an os update. 4 days later my site is still not running as it should. Whenever i do an action which has in it an action on a database, it stops working.   • Scheduler with Asp Mvc

    Hi, I want to use a Scheduler like Telerik Scheduler in my Mvc project. The problem is that the Scheduler is a Asp.Net WebForm control. For this reason, I must create a WebForm page in my Mvc project to put the Scheduler control. When I show the page, it work fine to render the layout of the control but if I try to interact with it; click for change date, change to day view to week view, the control don't change. I know that postback doesn't work in mvc project but does it work in a WebForm page in a Mvc project? If it doesn't work, it is the reason why when I try to interact with the control, the control don't respond. I think it's because the postback don't work and the Scheduler use 100 % Databinding where when I change date, the postback don't contain any data that I have changed and for this reason, the control can't change is layout. Have you any ideas about postback with WebForm in mvc project? What type of design can I adopt? (Two differents projets: One for my Scheduler with WebForm and another for all the rest of my website in Mvc project) Any other control easily to use with Scheduler? Tips and tricks when needing both WebForm control and Mvc control in Mvc project? Thank you very much.
