    I have a little problem: slideHelpers.total = 4 for (i=1;i <= slideHelpers.total; i++) { $('<a href="#">' + i + '</a>').bind('click', function(){ alert('go to the ' + i + ' slide')}).appendTo('.slideaccess') } the alert gives out 5 what is logic, because when the function click triggers i is actually 5. But i would like to have the same i as in my <a> tag. What is the best way to handle this? I could put i in the data() of the <a> tag for example but i am sure there is a easier way.

    I'm debugging a web application. Javasript in one window create one object and use it as argument to invoke global method in another window. Pseudo code is like below. var obj = new Foo(); anotherWin.bar(obj); In anotherWin, the argument is stored in global variable. var g_obj; function bar(obj) { g_obj = obj; ... } When other function tries to reference g_obj.Id, it throws exception "Cannot evaluate expression". This happens in IE8.0.7600.16385 on Windows 7. In Visual Studio debugger, when this exception happens, the g_obj shows as {...} It looks all its properties are lost. Perhaps the root reason is the object is created in one window but only referenced in another window. The object might be garbage-collected at any time. Is there any way to work around this?

    I'm trying to retrieve data from a php file named return that just contains <?php echo 'here is a string'; ?> I'm doing this through an html file containing <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.min.js"></script> <script> var x; $.get("return.php", function(data){ x = data; }) function showAlert() {alert(x);} $(document).ready(function(){ alert(x); }); </script> </head> <body> <input type = "button" value = "Click here" onClick="showAlert();"> </body> </html> When the button is clicked it retrieves and displays the code fine, but on the $(document).ready thing, it displays "undefined" instead of the data in return.php. Any solutions? Thanks.

  • jQuery AJAX request (Rails 3) gets redirected and returns empty message body!

    I'm trying to do a manual jQuery AJAX request the following way: $("#user_plan_id").change(function() { $("#plan_container").load('/plans/' + this.value); }); I have the "rails.js" file included in my header, and a "<%= csrf_meta_tag %". I see from my log that the request IS getting to the server (although without the authenticity token... does rails.js even do this?), but the response is a 302 (Found) rather than 200, and no data actually gets rendered. Any ideas? Edit: I now see that the first request redirects, and the proper partial gets rendered on the redirect. However, the 2nd response's body (on the client-side) is still empty. I'm guessing jQuery uses the first response and doesn't have a listener set up for the redirect. How do I get around this? Also, another note: the page doing the requesting is an HTTPS page. Here is what my log says: Started GET "/plans/221168073" for 127.0.0.1 at Tue Jun 15 01:24:06 -0400 2010 Processing by PlansController#show as HTML Parameters: {"id"=>"221168073"} DEPRECATION WARNING: Using #request_uri is deprecated.     I'm trying to use a regular expression to capture the contents of all option values inside an HTML select element For example, in: <select name="test"> <option value="blah">one</option> <option value="mehh">two</option> <option value="rawr">three</option> </select> I'd like to capture one two and three into an array. My current code is var pages = responseDetails.responseText.match(/<select name="page" .+?>(?:\s*<option .+?>([^<]+)<\/option>)+\s*<\/select>/); for (var c = 0; c<pages.length; c++) { alert(pages[c]); } But it only captures the last value, in this case, "three".
