    I'm looking for a good example of reading and writing to the Windows Registry using VB6. Yes, I know there are lots of mediocre examples. I spent an hour googling and testing. Some were incredibly complex, others had only some of the functions, and almost none of it had been vetted in any way (voted on).     Lets say I have two MySQL databases with some complex table structures. Neither database has the same table name. Lets say these tables contain no rows (they do but I could truncate the tables, the data is not important right now, just testing stuff). Lets say I need these 2 databases merged into one. For instance: DB1: cities states DB2: index subindex posts I want to end up with a single DB that contains: cities states index subindex posts Is this possible?

  • Not able to create a datasource registration with WAMP MysQL 5.0 in DBArtisan

    I try in a test version of DBArtisan to set up a datasource and register both servere as localhost, database to use, my username and password, but, when testing the connection, I get message that connection failed. Hooking up from eg. Delphi and other utilities run nicely. But not DBArtisan, Is MySQL 5.0 not supported yet ?? Or is it WAMP that is the culprit naming the service wampmysqld insted of just mysqld ??

  • Problem migrating membershipProvider functionality from mvc1 to mvc2

    I am migrating a web app in mvc1 to mvc2. When it came down to migrating my MembershipProvider authentication I keep getting errors that MembershipProvider and MembershipCreateStatus type cannot be found. I do have the reference to System.Web which to my understanding includes the Security reference, but when I examine the the object, those types do not appear. I am just getting familiar with mvc2, if anyone has any input on this it would be extremely appreciated.

  • Remove all user's cookies/sessions when password is reset

    I'm interested in improving security of my TurboGears 2.2 application so that when user changes his password, it logs him out from all sessions and he must login again. When user changes password on browser 1, he must relogin on browser 2, too. Experiments show that this is not the case, especially if browser 2 had "remember me" enabled. It's standard quickstarted app using repoze.who. It seems maybe I need to change AuthTktCookiePlugin, but don't see a way to do it without much rewiring.

The application needs Domain Name, Admin User ID, Admin Password in order to work out with Impersonation class for executing some piece of code with admin privileges. The Admin will also change the Password every 90 days. Due to security reasons, i cannot maintain the admin credentials in my app.config file. What else would be best idea ?

  • Hadoop write directory

    Simple question but reading through documentation and configuration I can't quite seem to figure it out. How do I A) know where hadoop is writing to on the local disk and B) change that For initial testing I setup HDFS on a 20gb linux VM - to it we've added a 500gb networked drive for moving towards prototyping the full system. So now how do I point HDFS at that drive, or do I simply move the home directory/install with some slight change in setup and restart the process?
