• How to do logout functionality in C# smart device application?

  I am developng Smart device application in C#. It is a window application. In this application I am using Login form to authenticate the users. Only authenticated users can login into the system. In this application I am calling java web services which resides on another machine. I am passing mobile number & password from mu application's login form to the java web services. The java web services returns the userid after successful authentication. I made this userid static so that it can be used frequently with other web services. I using statc variables in this application so that they can be used at application level. After deploying the application I can see that emulator provides the close button with multiplicaton symbol. In this way I can close my form as well as application. But I want to provde one logout link in my application. Can I provide logout functionality in C# window application ? If yes, how to do that ? Please make sure that all the functions of .net framework does not work with .net compact framwork? Can you provide me the code or link through which can resolve the above issue ?

Therefore I'm expecting the buffer to be one or the other, however I seem to only be returning 0 or equivalent. Does the code above look like it will return what I expect or should my variable types be different? The conversion using "atoi" may be an issue. Any thought would be much appreciated.

I need a way to find quotes in my data (quotes aren't there every time) and place a "/" character in front of them. Example response text (wrong): {"rows":[{"id":"ABC123","length":"5""}, {"id":"DEF456","length":"1.35""}, {"id":"HIJ789","length":"36.25""}]} I would need to escape the " so my response should be: {"rows":[{"id":"ABC123","length":"5\""}, {"id":"DEF456","length":"1.35\""}, {"id":"HIJ789","length":"36.25\""}]} Also, I'm pretty new to C# (coding in general really) so if something else in my code looks silly let me know.

• Ruby and duck typing: design by contract impossible?

  Method signature in Java: public List<String> getFilesIn(List<File> directories) similar one in ruby def get_files_in(directories) In the case of Java, the type system gives me information about what the method expects and delivers. In Ruby's case, I have no clue what I'm supposed to pass in, or what I'll expect to receive. In Java, the object must formally implement the interface. In Ruby, the object being passed in must respond to whatever methods are called in the method defined here. This seems highly problematic: Even with 100% accurate, up-to-date documentation, the Ruby code has to essentially expose its implementation, breaking encapsulation. "OO purity" aside, this would seem to be a maintenance nightmare. The Ruby code gives me no clue what's being returned; I would have to essentially experiment, or read the code to find out what methods the returned object would respond to. Not looking to debate static typing vs duck typing, but looking to understand how you maintain a production system where you have almost no ability to design by contract. Update No one has really addressed the exposure of a method's internal implementation via documentation that this approach requires. Since there are no interfaces, if I'm not expecting a particular type, don't I have to itemize every method I might call so that the caller knows what can be passed in? Or is this just an edge case that doesn't really come up?

  Good day...! In the code behind (upload.aspx) I have an event that returns the number of bytes being streamed; and as I debug it, it works fine. I wanted to reflect the numbers returned from the eventHandler on a progress bar and this is where I got lost. I tried using jQuery's .ajax() function. this is how I implemented it: In the EventHandler in my code behind I added this code to call the .ajax() function: Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "UpdateProgress", "<script type='text/javascript'>updateProgress();</script>"); My plan is whenever the eventHandler function changes the values of bytes being streamed it calls the javascript function "updateProgress()" The .ajax() function "UpdateProgress()" is as: function updateProgress() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "upload.aspx/GetData", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", async: true, success: function (msg) { $("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value", msg.d); } }); } I made sure that the function GetData() is [System.Web.Services.WebMethod] and that it is static as well. so the workflow of what I am trying to implement is as: - Click On Upload button - The Behind code starts executing and EventHandler triggers - The EventHandler calls .ajax() function - The .ajax() function retrieves the bytes being streamed and updates progress bar. When I ran the code; all runs well except that the .ajax() is only executed when upload is finished (and progress bar also updates only when finished upload); even though I call .ajax() function every time in the eventHandler function as reflected above... Now, if I goto the following url, i get a 404... http://whatever/Home/MissingActionMethod So there's no ActionMethod called MissingActionMethod in the HomeController. So, does this mean, if i goto the 1st route defined, above .. and fail to find an action .. do I then come back and try the second route? rinse-repeat? Or once i match a route, i then try and execute that route .. and if i fail (ie, find the action is missing) .. then .. bad luck? boomski? cheers!

• Django apache-wsgi configuration problem

  Hi, I am trying to get my Django project running on the production server. I setup the environment using pip, so it is identical to the development environment where everything is running fine. The only difference is that I don't use virtualenv on production, because this project is the only one that is going to run on production. Also on production, there is an Nginx reverse proxy to serve static content, and passes dynamic requests to Apache2. The Apache wsgi file is as follows: import sys, os sys.path.append('/home/project/src') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'settings' import django.core.handlers.wsgi application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler() When I access the server, I get an import error: ImproperlyConfigured: Error importing middleware middleware: "cannot import name UserProfile" Which refers to the middleware.py under src/ folder which is referred by the settings. But I can import both the middleware and the UserProfile class from within ./manage.py shell prompt. It seems like a problem with paths in wsgi file but I cannot see what. The directory structure is: /home/project /home/project/src (which contains the settings.py, middleware.py and app folders) /home/apache/apache.wsgi Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, oMat

  Hi, I'm really stuck on how to go about programming this. I need to draw a circle within a JFrame with a radius and points around the circumference. i can mathematically calculate how to find the coordinates of the point around the edge but i cant seem to be able to program the circle. I am currently using a Ellipse2D method but that doesn't seem to work and doesn't return a radius, as under my understanding, it doesn't draw the circle from the center rather from a starting coordinate using a height and width. I was wondering how could I pass a value to a Java Method using ANT. Non of these classes have Main methods and will not have any main. Due to this I was unable to use it as a java system properties. • Memory usage in Flash / Flex / AS3

  I'm having some trouble with memory management in a flash app. Memory usage grows quite a bit, and I've tracked it down to the way I load assets. I embed several raster images in a class Embedded, like this [Embed(source="/home/gabriel/text_hard.jpg")] public static var ASSET_text_hard_DOT_jpg : Class; I then instance the assets this way var pClass : Class = Embedded[sResource] as Class; return new pClass() as Bitmap; At this point, memory usage goes up, which is perfectly normal. However, nulling all the references to the object doesn't free the memory. Based on this behavior, looks like the flash player is creating an instance of the class the first time I request it, but never ever releases it - not without references, calling System.gc(), doing the double LocalConnection trick, or calling dispose() on the BitmapData objects. Of course, this is very undesirable - memory usage would grow until everything in the SWFs is instanced, regardless of whether I stopped using some asset long ago. Is my analysis correct? Can anything be done to fix this?

• Custom UITableviewcell, CGGradient still shows when cell is selected?

  I'm using a custom tableview cell (like Tweetie's fast scrolling) i've added a gradient to the context, which looks really nice, but when I select the cell, the gradient is still visible. It should be quick It should handle large strings (I have some scripts that are 10mb in size for example) The hardest part (that the above code currently does not do) is to take quoted text into account Currently the following SQL will incorrectly get split: var batch = QueryBatch.Parse(@"-- issue... insert into table (name, desc) values('foo', 'if the go is on a line by itself we have a problem...')"); Assert.That(batch.Queries.Count, Is.EqualTo(1), "This fails for now..."); I have thought about a token based parser that tracks the state of the open closed quotes but am not sure if Regex will do it. Any ideas!?

  Hello, I have installed Oracle XE on my Development machine and it is working fine. Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database. I tried it too, but it always shows me an error on my TEST machine to connect database to the Development Machine using ASP.Net.
