• Java & Maven generating -and using- my own archetype

  Hello again! I have been busy in my project creating a webapp (in struts) that manages maven, using maven-2.2.1-uber.jar link text. The problem comes when the boss says it has to use some archetypes the company has created (so no predefined archetypes for you naughty boy!). So ok, I use the -DarchetypeRepository option (with ServletWrapper I get my complete web direction, becouse the repository will be inside the app), and the log seems to find it, but then the build fails -miserably- with this little text 'Build Failure - The defined artifact is not an archetype' as simple as that. Of course I have a lot of INFO lines that say abslutily nothig related. I have read the maven definitive guide searching for some kind of help, but it has been disapointing at best. My thoughts are thatmaybe I am missing in somewhere of all the folders tree some xml that actually sais maven that my pom.xml is an archetype not a project. But I really, really, can't find anything on the net or in the manuals that explains easy-handed how the archetype:generate (with special parameters) works and where I have to put every folder and/or file. So just to say my thoughts aloud (and hopefully you understand what I am trying to ask): I have a template where I do some xml changes (variables, etc...), then I have to call maen and do an archetype:generate with a variable project. The problem seems to be that my actual confuguration doesn't like what I am doing. After the generation of the archetype, witch luckly will create some directory trees and leave me a POM.xml somewhere I still have to do some variable changes and more xml manage stuff, so it whould be very kind from maven to don't destroy anything in this process. Any ideas why this maven-thing is not happly-ever-after asuming that my archetype is defintly an archetype? Allthought I think the code is ok, it could be wrong, as I am using maven-ubber and I call the actual CSMavenCli.main(String[, ClassWorld), I don't think it is the case this time. • 'memcache-client' problem - app can't load the gem

  Hi all - i'm trying to get memcached and the Interlock plugin working with a new rails app. The weird thing is that they both work fine in another app on the same machine and i can't figure out the difference that's stopping this app. The new app is rails 2.3.4 and the old one is 2.2.2 in case that's a factor. When the app starts, i get a warning from interlock: `install_memcached':Interlock::ConfigurationError: 'memcache-client' client requested but not installed. Try 'sudo gem install memcache-client'. Now, i have memcache-client installed: $> gem list | grep memcache memcache-client (1.7.8) The gem is in /var/lib/gems/1.8, which is in my GEM_PATH variable. On a bit of further investigation, the above error is raised by interlock when it refers to the MemCache class, which doesn't exist and so raises an 'anonymous module' error. So, ultimately, the problem is that MemCache isn't loaded. I have a memcached.yml in my config folder (below) however. • PerformancePoint dashboard permissions problem in MOSS

  I have a PerformancePoint dashboard running in MOSS 2007 portal. The dashboard consists of one SSRS 2005 report, running in SharePoint Integrated mode. NT Authority\Authenticated Users have read permissions to the report library containing the SSRS report, the dashboard, and the report library containing the dashboard. Users that attempt to access the dashboard receive the following error message: The permissions granted to user 'DOMAIN\firstname.lastname' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Users that then click on the direct link to the report in MOSS will see the report with no problem. Subsequent visits to the dashboard show the report with no problem. The report is using a data source that is located one folder up from the report location. The report has been updated to point to the correct shared data source after deployment. Both the report and the data source have been published. The data source is using stored credentials, with a domain service account that has been set to Use as Windows credentials. This service account is serving other reports in other areas with no problem. Edit: Ok, I've gotten a lot more information on this problem. The request is never actually being made to the data source. The user comes in to the dashboard and requests a report for the first time using their kerberos token identifying themselves. The report looks in the Report Server database and finds that they are not listed in the users table and generates this rsAccessDenied error. Once they view the report directly their name is in this table and they never have the problem again. Unfortunately, removing the user from the Users table in the RS database doesn't actually cause this error to happen again. Everything I've read says that when you run a Report Server in MOSS integrated mode all your permissions are handled at the MOSS report library level, and all Auth users have permissions to the report library, as stated earlier. Any ideas?

• FileNotFoundException when reading .xml file to parse

  I'm writing a program in Java where I read in data from an XML file and parse it. The file is imported into a folder named "Resources" in the src directory of my project. I'm using Eclipse. When I run the program, I get the following error: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /Users/thechiman/Dropbox/introcs/PSU SOC Crawler/resources/majors_xml_db.xml (No such file or directory) at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:106) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:66) ... • Missing chars in JpGraph

  I have a web site that runs on Windows and uses cp1252 (aka Win-1252) so it can display Spanish characters. The app generates some plots with JpGraph 2.3. These plots use the Tahoma Open Type font family to display text labels. Strings are provided in ANSI (i.e., cp1252) and font files support cp1252 (actually, the *.ttf files were copied from the system's font folder). It's been working fine in several setups from PHP/5.2.6 to PHP/5.3.0. Problems started when I ran the app under PHP/5.3.1: all non-ASCII are replaced by the hollow rectangle that represents missing or unknown chars. JpGraph's documentation is not very precise about how it expects international chars. Apparently, text is handled internally by the imagettftext() function, which expects UTF-8. However, encoding everything as UTF-8 breaks the app in all the systems. Where ANSI used to work fine, I get wrong characters (Ê instead of Ú). Where I got missing chars, now I get a PHP error: Warning: imagettftext(): any2eucjp(): something happen Do you have any clue about what changed in GD2 from PHP/5.3.0 to 5.3.1 that could be affecting the rendering on non-ASCII chars? How am I expected to feed JpGraph with strings in the Win-1252 charset?

• More issues with IntelliJ 9.0.1 "Hello World" in Scala - Predef version 5.0 vs 4.1

  Any ideas what could cause this? Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar I tried both versions 2.7.6 and 2.8 RC1 of scala-*.jar, the result was the same. JDK is 1.6.u20. UPDATE Today uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. • How can I render a list of objects using DisplayFor but from the controller in ASP.NET MVC?

  Here's the scenaio, I have an Employee object and a Company object which has a list of employees. I have Company.aspx which inherits from ViewPage<Company>. In Company.aspx I call Html.DisplayFor(m => m.Employees). I have an Employee.ascx partial view which inherits from ViewUserControl<Employee in my DisplayTemplates folder. Everything works fine and Company.aspx renders the Employee.ascx partial for each employee. Now I have two additional methods on my controller called GetEmployees and GetEmployee(Id). In the GetEmployee(Id) action I want to return the markup to display this one employee, and in GetEmployees() I want to render the markup to display all the employees (these two action methods will be called via AJAX). In the GetEmployee action I call return PartialView("DisplayTemplates\Employee", employee) This works, although I'd prefer something like return PartialViewFor(employee) which would determine the view name by convention. Anwyay, my question is how should I implement the GetEmployees() action? I don't want to create any more views, because frankly, I don't see why I should have to. I've tried the following which fails miserably :) return Content(New HtmlHelper<IList<Of DebtDto>>(null, null).DisplayFor(m => debts)); However if I could create an instance of an HtmlHelper object in my controller, I suppose I could get it to work, but it feels wrong. Any ideas? Have i missed something obvious?

• Trying to use a authlogic-connect as a plugin in place of gem - Server doesn't start

  I am trying to use Authlogic-connect as a plugin in Rails 3 in place of a gem. I have made an entry in the gemfile as gem "authlogic-connect", :require => "authlogic-connect", :path => "localgems" Now when I run the bundle install, it runs fine. When I try to start the server i get the error Could not find gem 'authlogic-connect (>= 0, runtime)' in source at localgems. Source does not contain any versions of 'authlogic-connect (>= 0, runtime)' Try running `bundle install`. I have placed the unzipped Gem renamed as authlogic-connect in the localgems folder. what is the problem? • Versioning SharePoint binary Workflow ASPX task forms

  Hello. As noted by some developers, workflow versioning is somekind of headache in SharePoint. I`m wondering is there a way I can version my aspx forms? For sure, i can version code behind assemblies, but if markup changes for any of my files in LAYOUTS folder? Is there versioning available for files or do i have to choose new filename for my form? Sorry, i should have been more specific. Yes, i have files under version control (i can restore previous versions etc), but i`m not talking about this kind of version control. But by deploying new Workflow Version, i must not delete old one, because it is still running on many items in SharePoint, but rather , as noted in previous links, deploy new one so i don't break execution of workflows. But workflows will still break if i don't preserve old aspx forms used by users to interact with workflows. So i must ensure that Assemblies with old version numbers used by old workflow exists (this one is ok, i just changed assembly version number and deployed to GAC) I must ensure that old workflow still uses old aspx form used users to interact with workflow, but new workflow version should use new aspx form with more options (how to do this?).

• Publish Maven artifacts on FTP with Hudson FTP Publisher Plugin

  I'm building a number of artefacts (zip files for different environments: test, dev) using the maven-assembly-plugin using a specialized Maven profile. These artefacts I want to copy/collect on on a FTP server keeping the version (01.07.10.16.Wed-1626) as a folder, so I need to copy from test/build/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ to ftp://my-ftp-server:21/projects/myserver-1.7/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ The layout for the Maven output is this: target/ build/ 01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-dev.zip my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-test.zip For copying the artefacts I'm using FTP Publisher Plugin but it seams I miss something since that even the build is OK and the artefacts are build without problem but the job is finishing without copying the artefacts, and in the console there is no log info about copying the artefacts My FTP publisher config (FTP repository hosts) is: Hostname: my-ftp-server Port: 21 Timeout: 10000 Root Repository Path: projects User Name: my-user Password: my-pass My Hudson job FTP publisher config (Publish artifacts to FTP) is: FTP site: my-ftp-server Files to upload Source: target/build/** Destination: myserver-1.7 1: There is any log to check if there are any FTP copy errors ? 2: There is any problem with the file pattern (source) or with the dest ?

• Nested URLs and Rewrite rules in Apache2

  Hi, I need some help with rewrite rules and nested URLs. I am using TikiWiki for my website and am in the process of setting up SE friendly URLs for my projects. Specifically, I have the following rewrite rule for www.example.com/projects to point to a page that lists out all the projects hosted in example. RewriteRule ^Projects$ articles?type=Project [L] This works fine. Now, I would like to point www.example.com/projects/project1 to point to a specific project. I have this rewrite rule RewriteRule ^(Projects/Project1)$ tiki-read_article.php?articleId=6 This works, but partially. The content is all rendered as text but the theme - images/ css etc all go for a toss - the page is completely in text. I understand that this happens 'cause the relative paths in the theme/ css/ images all refer to Projects as the base folder instead of the root of the website. I don't want to touch the CMS portion - change the theme/ css/ image paths in the files, more for reasons of upgradability. Can someone help me understand and write a rule so that the above nested URL works? Regards, Radha

• "import numpy" tries to load my own package

  I have a python (2.7) project containing my own packages util and operator (and so forth). I read about relative imports, but perhaps I didn't understand. I have the following directory structure: top-dir/ util/__init__.py (empty) util/ua.py util/ub.py operator/__init__.py ... test/test1.py The test1.py file contains #!/usr/bin/env python2 from __future__ import absolute_import # removing this line dosn't change anything. It's default functionality in python2.7 I guess import numpy as np It's fine when I execute test1.py inside the test/ folder.   i have two projects in visual studio. One is the console project while other is regular c# project. In the regular c# project, i have added config file(i.e. Test.config) with log4net section. • Why user control with code behind file doesn't want to compile under MVC2?

  I have user control in my MVC2 app placed in the Content folder (it's not supposed to be a view, just reusable part of the app). Am I missing something? How to change it (what is the alternative) in MVC2 ? p.s. Intellisense sees lb_text with no problem. I've tried with different controls with the same outcome.

• SL 3 navigation not working!

  Hey Guys I converted all my existing Silverlight app UserControls to Pages so I could use the Navigation Framework. Anyway so I created a UserControl called MyFrame, which would host all the pages. In my App.xaml.cs I have the following to make sure that MyFrame is loaded when the App loads: private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { this.RootVisual = new MyFrame(); } My UriMapper class resides in App.xaml and looks like the following: <navcore:UriMapper x:Key="uriMapper"> <navcore:UriMapping Uri="Login" MappedUri="Login.xaml"> </navcore:UriMapper> Within my 'MyFrame' class, I have the following <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <HyperlinkButton Tag="Login" Content="Login" Click="HyperlinkButton_Click" /> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <navigation:Frame x:Name="ContentFrame" Style="{StaticResource ContentFrameStyle}" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> And within the callback for my HyperlinkButton's event handler, I have the following: private void HyperlinkButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { ContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri((sender as HyperlinkButton).Tag.ToString(), UriKind.Relative)); } The Login.xaml file is in my root folder (right under Project). This navigation does not seem to work! The exception I get reads like so: Navigation is only supported to relative URIs that are fragments, or begin with '/', or which contain ';component/'. Parameter name: uri The Login page does not load. There is no problem with Login.xaml as when I set this.RootVisual = new Login(); the page loads just fine. I also tried setting the NavigateUri attribute of the HyperlinkButton to "Login." No cigar. I'll appreciate any help! Thanks a lot in advance

• Setting Access-Control-Allow-Origin in Dreamhost possible?

  Just wanted a confirmation for this: Firefox currently doesn't play well for picking custom fonts through a sub-domain via the font-face tag. Other browsers do this without any problems. A little research showed up saying that i am required to set the Access-Control-Allow-Origin as is shown in the link here: http://pastie.org/653265 Essentially i have my blog at kaushikgopal.com/blog and i was trying to access fonts that within this blog that are available at font.kaushikgopal.com. I tried changing the same in my .htaccess file but couldn't resolve the issue.(I placed a .htaccess file within the font sub-domain folder and directly pasted code from the above pastie link). I submitted a ticket to dreamhost asking for assistance and they were helpful in clearly stating "We do not support Access-Control-Allow-Origin on shared hosting servers". So i didn't go the sub-domain route for fonts. But i'm a little curious, has anyone tried this (with a dreamhost hosting account would be helpful)? Just want to confirm what the tech-support guy suggested is accurate and there's no other way. Thanks. • Link Maven OSGi to Maven NetBeans Platform Project

  I am using NetBeans 6.9 Beta and I would like to accomplish the following: Set up a project representing the main application using Maven (for instance "Maven Project", "Maven NetBeans Application") Ideally, the project should only contain the necessary libraries to run in Apache Felix (I would like to be able to right-click the project and select "Run in Felix") I do not want that the project contains all the NetBean Platform APIs I would prefer to implement the modules using OSGi. For instance "Maven OSGi Bundle", "Maven NetBeans Module" + OSGi These are the problems, which I have at the moment: The standard Maven archetype ("Maven NetBeans Application") seems always to select all APIs and I have not found a way to deselect APIs - in normal NetBeans Platform Applications that can be accomplished by going to the project properties and deselected the platform modules) - I guess it has something to do with the NetBeans repository (http://bits.netbeans.org/maven2)? Do I have to create another repository? When creating normal "NetBeans Module" with OSGi support, the modules contain both NetBeans Module and OSGi meta data, which is nice. But the "Maven NetBeans Modules" have only NetBeans meta data and the Maven OSGi Bundles have only OSGi meta data). I figured out how to add modules to the project by using project / new and then placing the modules in the Maven project folder. However, I do not quite know yet how I could link to modules from other locations (NetBeans uses Maven modules, which have to be in the same directory as the project?).   In my application there are two folders one for a rails application and another for a ruby application. In the ruby folder I have created a ruby file in which I have written code to access some model which is present in the rails application using active resource. • Unknown Exception on trying to initialize the web service stub created by Axis C++

  Hi, I am trying out the sample calculator program given in the folder of axis c++. I am mainly interested in the client side. So I used the wsdl to create the stubs and my main is pretty much the same as given in the sample. However on executing the call Calculator ws (endpoint) I get an unknown exception "First-chance exception at 0x7c0024b9 in CalculatorClient.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000. First-chance exception at 0x7c812afb in CalculatorClient.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: [rethrow] at memory location 0x00000000.. Unhandled exception at 0x7c0024b9 in CalculatorClient.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000." and the exception causing code is Calculator::Calculator(const char* pchEndpointUri, AXIS_PROTOCOL_TYPE eProtocol) :Stub(pchEndpointUri, eProtocol) { } I had earlier tried to run a a webservice using Axis C++ but had received the same error. At that time my web service was a java ws on WAS. Then I later tried the calculator client (but this time I did not have any server hosting the ws as I just wanted to check if the Client could initialize). Is the problem caused due to the web service not being hosted on Apache in C++ (though I highly doubt it). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Harsha

• Red Box is not working

  Hi , I have install the Red box plugin by using the following command script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/ambroseplugins/redbox . It installed successfully. and again ran the following command the following location /myapp/vendor/plugin/redbox/rake update_scripts . It shows me the following output (in /myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox) rake aborted! private method `copy' called for File:Class /home/myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox/Rakefile:28 (See full trace by running task with --trace) I don't know How to solve this ... Then i understand that "rake update_scripts" copying the Js and Css file only. so i manually copied the Redbox.js & redbox.css files into the respective places under /public folder I include the follwoing into my application.html.erb <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'redbox' % <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults % <%= javascript_include_tag 'redbox' % It included in the page successfully. The following is my view code : <%= link_to_remote_redbox('Red_box', :url = {:action= 'log'} ,:method ='get') % The popup box doesn't appear. I have no clue what is the exact error. Is that any Jquery clash? Please help me

  Although I have seen dozens of forum questions relating to "Could not load type", none of the advice in them seemed to apply to my situation. I wrote a new web application using aspx.net VB 2005. It is tiny, with just 2 pages, 1 of which has no code-behind. It runs aok in the IDE but when I installed it on my pc (and also when installed on the production server), and tried to run it this error came up: Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. • How to suppress quotes in Powershell commands to executables

  Is there any way to supress the enclosing quotation marks around each command-line argument that powershell likes to generate and then pass to external executables for command line arguments that have spaces in them? Here's the situation: One way to unpack many installers is a command of the form: msiexec /a <packagename> /qn TARGETDIR="<path to folder with spaces>" Trying to execute this from powershell has proven quite difficult. Powershell likes to enclose parameters with spaces in double-quotes. The following lines: msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn 'TARGETDIR="c:\some path"' msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn $('TARGETDIR="c:\some path"') $td = '"c:\some path"' msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn TARGETDIR=$td All result in the following command line (as reported by the Win32 GetCommandLine() api): "msiexec" /a somepackage.msi /qn "TARGETDIR="c:\some path"" This command line: msiexec /a somepackage.msi TARGETDIR="c:\some path" /qn results in "msiexec" /a fooinstaller.msi "TARGETDIR=c:\some path" /qn It seems that Powershell likes to enclose the results of expressions meant to represent one argument in quotation marks when passing them to external executables. This works fine for most executables. However, MsiExec is very specific about the quoting rules it wants and won't accept any of the command lines Powershell generates for paths have have spaces in them. Is there any way to suppress this behavior?

• What are the limitations of the .NET Assembly format?

  We just ran into an interesting issue that I've not experienced before. We have a large scale production ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 Web App Project in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 which gets compiled and deployed using a Website Deployment Project. Everything has worked fine for the last year, until after a check-in yesterday the app started critically failing with BadImageFormatException. The check-in in question doesn't change anything particularly special and the errors are coming from areas of the app not even changed. Using Reflector we inspected the offending methods to find that there were garbage strings in the code (which Reflector humorously interpreted as Chinese characters). We have consistently reproduced this on several machines so it does not appear to be hardware related. Further inspection showed that those garbage strings did not exist in the Assemblies used as inputs to aspnet_merge.exe during deployment. Web Deployment Project Output Assemblies Properties: Merge all outputs to a single assembly Merge each individual folder output to its own assembly Merge all pages and control outputs to a single assembly Create a separate assembly for each page and control output In the web deployment project properties if we set the merge options to the first option ("Merge all outputs to a single assembly") we experience the issue, yet all of the other options work perfectly! So my question: does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a size-limit to aspnet_merge.exe's capabilities (the resulting merged DLL is around 19.3 MB)? Are there any other known issues with merging the output of WAPs? I would love it if any Assembly format / aspnet_merge gurus know about any such limitations like this. Seems to me like a 25MB Assembly, while big, isn't outrageous. Less disk to hit if it is all pregen'd stuff.

• Apache Tomcat under Windows: Changing webapps default directory

  I am deploying my Java application with Ant. Unfortunately my test deployment on the local machine doesn't work because of Vista. The Program Files directionaries are protected and i don't want to start Ant or Eclipse as an Admin. So i had the idea to move my webapps folder to a workspace subfolder, so i can use relative paths in Ant as well. The solutions seems to be to modify the Host element in the server.xml. With Linux it isn't such a deal: <Host name="localhost" appBase="/path/to/webapps" unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> But with Windows i don't get it right. I tried every possible combinations i could imagine, like: C://Users//maerch//Workspaces//Tomcat6.0_webapps C:/Users/maerch/Workspaces/Tomcat6.0_webapps C:\Users\maerch\Workspaces\Tomcat6.0_webapps C:\\Users\\maerch\\Workspaces\\Tomcat6.0_webapps C://Users//maerch//Workspaces//Tomcat6.0_webapps\\ C:/Users/maerch/Workspaces/Tomcat6.0_webapps/ C:\Users\maerch\Workspaces\Tomcat6.0_webapps\ C:\\Users\\maerch\\Workspaces\\Tomcat6.0_webapps\\ The path is also correct, but it doesn't work. There are also no error messages in the log files neither the browser shows a 404 message or anything else. Just a white page without title and so on. Can anyone help?

• Basic site analytics doesn't tally with Google data

  After being stumped by an earlier quesiton: SO google-analytics-domain-data-without-filtering I've been experimenting with a very basic analytics system of my own. MySQL table: hit_id, subsite_id, timestamp, ip, url The subsite_id let's me drill down to a folder (as explained in the previous question). I can now get the following metrics: Page Views - Grouped by subsite_id and date Unique Page Views - Grouped by subsite_id, date, url, IP (not nesecarily how Google does it!) The usual "most visited page", "likely time to visit" etc etc. I've now compared my data to that in Google Analytics and found that Google has lower values each metric. Ie, my own setup is counting more hits than Google. So I've started discounting IP's from various web crawlers, Google, Yahoo & Dotbot so far. Short Questions: Is it worth me collating a list of all major crawlers to discount, is any list likely to change regularly? Are there any other obvious filters that Google will be applying to GA data? What other data would you collect that might be of use further down the line? What variables does Google use to work out entrance search keywords to a site? The data is only going to used internally for our own "subsite ranking system", but I would like to show my users some basic data (page views, most popular pages etc) for their reference.
