  • how to create a auto-incremented attribute in xcode managed object model

    Hey, what i want to do is to make a int that will be the ID of the entity and auto increment itself whenever a new entity is added (just like a SQL identity property). Is this possible? i tried using indexed (checked on attribute) however there is no description to what indexed even does. EDIT: I am adding annotations to a map, when you click the pin the annotationview with a chevron shows up. Now when you click this button i would like to load an associated picture. However the only way i know how to link the picture to this button is to give the picture a unique id, and then set the button.tag to this id and then load based on the button.tag.

  • Get PropertyInfo from property instead of name

    Say, for example, I've got this simple class: public class MyClass { public String MyProperty { get; set; } } The way to get the PropertyInfo for MyProperty would be: typeof(MyClass).GetProperty("MyProperty"); This sucks! Why? Easy: it will break as soon as I change the Name of the Property, it needs a lot of dedicated tests to find every location where a property is used like this, refactoring and usage trees are unable to find these kinds of access. Ain't there any way to properly access a property? Something, that is validated on compile time? I'd love a command like this: propertyof(MyClass.MyProperty);

  • Truncating a table referenced by a foreign key

    Hey, We have two tables in a SQL Server 2005 database, A and B.There is a service which truncates table A every day. Recently, a foreign key constraint was added to table B, referencing table A. As a result, it isn't possible truncating table A anymore, even if table B is empty. Is there any workaround to get the same result as truncating table A? I've already tried the approach below but the identity wasn't reset. DBCC CHECKIDENT (TABLENAME, RESEED, 0) PS. before anyone points this as a duplicate, the different thing here is that I'm not allowed to drop constraints, nor creating any.

  • Python: Best practice for including a version number in an app?

    I have a PyQt application that reads and writes data files. I am including a 'version number' in each file written. This is a simple number similar to: 1.2 or something (major and minor versions). I am doing this so that I can change the format of these data files in future versions and then still correctly parse them simply by checking to see what the version is inside the file. My question is what is the best practice for keeping this number stored inside the app itself. I.e. do I just hard-code the app version number into the class that is responsible for reading and writing files? Or should I have some sort of object/variable stored at the top-level of the app and somehow access it from the class responsible for reading and writing these files. If the latter, how do I store it and how do I access it? Thanks.

  • Is there a way to use a dictionary or xml in the Application Settings?

    I have to store a complex type in the application settings. I thought that storing it as XML would work best. The problem is I don't know how store XML. I prefer to store it as a managed XML rather than using just a string of raw XML having to parse it on each access. I managed to set the Type column of the setting to XDocument, but I was unable to set its value. Is there a way to use XDocument or XML in application settings? Update I found a way, simply by editing the .settings file with the xml editor. I changed it to a custom serializable dictionary, but I get the following error when I try to access the setting-property (I set it to a serialized representation of the default value). The property 'Setting' could not be created from it's default value. Error message: There is an error in XML document (1, 41). Any ideas will be appreciated.

  • Missing something with Reader monad - passing the damn thing around everywhere

    Learning Haskell, managing syntax, have a rough grasp of what monads etc are about but I'm clearly missing something. In main I can read my config file, and supply it as runReader (somefunc) myEnv just fine. But somefunc doesn't need access to the myEnv the reader supplies, nor do the next couple in the chain. The function that needs something from myEnv is a tiny leaf function. So - how do I get access to the environment in a function without tagging all the intervening functions as (Reader Env)? That can't be right because otherwise you'd just pass myEnv around in the first place. And passing unused parameters through multiple levels of functions is just ugly (isn't it?). There are plenty of examples I can find on the net but they all seem to have only one level between runReader and accessing the environment.

    What is the best/secure way to backup a mysql database on windows server (2008)? I have "MySQL Administrator" but that requires that you save passwords for backup project. I'm not keen on doing as anyone gaining access to the server would then have easy access to the database. Can you do anything similar to SQL Server like using Windows authentication. If not what is the most secure (and practical) way of backups. Lastly, what are the privileges needed to backup a database? I have created a single user just for this task. Please advise.

    I need to obtain an access_token as an App, not as an admin or user. This is so that I can post/comment/like in a the style of "[ app name ] has commented on your post". The problem is that when I attempt to get an access token (which I do successfully), I'm getting one that is for me (the admin) because I'm logged in when I attempt to call: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize?client_id=[app id]&redirect_uri=[url]&scope=publish_stream,offline_access&type=user_agent&display=popup What is the process for getting an non-expiring access token AS an app, rather than an admin?     Is there any safe way to detect, on a web page, client side (JS), whether user has an Google/Yahoo/Live/? account? I know about some suspicious ways to do this by styling visited links and then sneaking on computed style attribute, but it's more of a hack, Mozilla and maybe other are planning to crack down on this, as it might be abused. But I need this to allow users more integration with their identity providers, like: Have a Google account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Google Contacts API Have an Yahoo account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Yahoo Contacts API none of the above? show no link I don't want to provide all these options to all visitors, would be nice if I can detect the account, and provide integration only in that case.

    I need some help with priviligies in centos I have a file in home/admin/public_html/generate.php that I want to do some file copy with using php copy function When I set the file to chown admin:admin generate.php I can access the file but I cannot execute the php copy command because I don't have the proper rights. When I set the file to root:root generate.php I cant access the file beacuse its under admin user folder home/admin/public_html/generate.php how do I solve please, thankful for any help. Bottom line is that I want my generate.php which is owned by admin:admin to be able to copy files from sources outside its home dir and to other home dirs I am using CENTOS

    In my knowledge, the RESTful WCF still has ".svc" in its URL. For example, if the service interface is like [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/Value/{value}")] string GetDataStr(string value); The access URI is like "http://machinename/Service.svc/Value/2". In my understanding, part of REST advantage is that it can hide the implementation details. A RESTful URI like "http://machinename/Service/value/2" can be implemented by any RESTful framework, but a "http://machinename/Service.svc/value/2" exposes its implementation is WCF. How can I remove this ".svc" host in the access URI?

  • Using locks inside a loop

There are many threads iterating this loop and based on the key they are looking for, a lazy instance is created and returned. lazyObject should not be created more that one time. Although Lazy class is for doing so and despite of the used lock, under high threading I have more than one instance created (I track this with a Interlocked.Increment on a volatile shared int and log it somewhere). The problem is I don't have access to definition of Lazy and MEF defines how the Lazy class create objects. My questions: 1) Why the lock doesn't work ? 2) Should I use an array of locks instead of one lock for performance improvement ?

    Last night I came up to sometihng intersting while designing my new project that brought me to ask this qustion here. My project is supposed to follow Table Gateway pattern using tradional ADO.Net datasets for data access. I don't want to write plain queries in my data-access classes. So I came up with an idea of writing a parser kindaa api that exposes objects and methods to generate queries on the move based on my domain objects. Later I want this api to hook up to my Business objects and provide Typed SQL generator api right on the business object instances. Any idea or references how can I do this ? This seems very wide to start with that I'm compelled take your opinions here. Does there anything already exists that can do this ?

  • How to use rvm (ruby version manager) with root account?

    The whole point of rvm is to be able to install multiple rubies and access them from a user account. What do you do when you need to access any of those rubies from root? Or use gems installed in one of those rvms? Is there an elegant (or even hackish) way to use these I haven't considered? My guess is that I should just add it to my PATH, but I'm curious if anyone has come up with a better idea. I'd rather not install rvm just for the root account and duplicate everything.

I have a Nib with a view that has a class identity set to TestView In my view controller, I use the following code: CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320,240); TestView *myTest = [[TestView alloc] initWithFrame:myRect]; [self.view addSubview:myTest]; I have a NSLog in the TestView class's initWithFrame that fires when the above code is executed, but the view doesn't appear in the view controllers view.     Ok Ive figured out how to do a screen capture of my desktop using Windows Media Encoder 9 + SDK and saving it as a movie on my hardrive. But now I want to take my project further and stream a realtime screen capture of my desktop . The idea is that users accessing my asp.net website will be able to view whatever Im doing on my desktop in real time via the video streaming from my computer. I really dont need the source code just the best strategy, procedure and server requirements.How will users access the streaming video on my website? Will it work on my godaddy shared hosting account or at what point will I need an upgrade? Will I be saving the stream to a file on the server for users to access or is there a way to stream directly ? I just need someone to point me in the right direction...

AllPrinting: Provides full access to all printers. The documentation is really sparse, and I wondered if anyone can tell me more about the SafePrinting option. What does the documentation mean when it says "Provides printing only from a restricted dialog box." I have no idea what this means. Can anyone shed any light? This subject is touched in the MS certification 70-505: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Application Development and so I'm keen to find out more.

    Is it possible to create a modifiable string literal in C++? For example: char* foo[] = { "foo", "foo" }; char* afoo = foo[0]; afoo[2] = 'g'; // access violation This produces an access violation because the "foo"s are allocated in read only memory (.rdata section I believe). Is there any way to force the "foo"s into writable memory (.data section)? Even via a pragma would be acceptable! (Visual Studio compiler) I know I can do strdup and a number of other things to get around the problem, but I want to know specifically if I can do as I have asked. :)
