• How to write a SQL query for numerous conditions with lots of fields in ASP.NET

  Hi all I have a ASP.NET site. There is a table in the SQL Server with more than 30 fields. I need make a page on which there are many filters to query data from database based on the filters you select or input. One filter for one fields in the database. The filter would be dropdown list, textbox,checkbox or listbox. If you do not choose one filter, it means select all for this field. So there are lots of combination for these fields. • IPv6 parsing in C

  I wanted to know how i can parse an IPv6 address in 'C' and convert it to a 128 bit value? So a hex address like 1:22:333:aaaa:b:c:d:e:f needs to be converted to its 128 bit equivalent binary. The problem is the IP address could be of the type ::2 and its variant since they are valid IPv6 address. The input is from the keyboard and hence is in ASCII format. Any suggestions or pointers will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  Windows provides encoding conversion functions ("MultiByteToWideChar" and "WideCharToMultiByte") which are capable of UTF-8 to/from UTF-16 conversions, among other things. But I've seen people offer home-grown 30 to 40 line functions that claim also to perform UTF-8 / UTF-16 encoding conversions. My question is, how reliable are such tiny converters? Can such a tiny amount of code handle problems such as converting a UTF-16 surrogate pair (such as ) into a UTF-8 single four byte sequence (rather than making the mistake of converting into a pair of three byte sequences)? Can they correctly spot "unpaired" surrogate input, and provide an error? In short, are such tiny converters mere toys, or can they be taken seriously? For that matter, why does unicode.org seemingly offer no advice on an algorithm for accomplishing such conversions?

• django-haystack ordering - How do I handle this?

  Hi there, I'm using django-haystack for a search page on my site. I'm basically done, but not quite happy with the ordering and not quite sure how haystack decides how to order everything. I know I can over-ride the SearchQuerySet by using order_by but that over-rides it entirely. Let's say I want to force the search to order by in stock (BooleanField), so that the products that are in stock show up on top, but then do everything else as it normally would. How do I do that? I tried doing order_by('-in_stock', 'content') figure content was what it used by default but it produces very different results from if I just leave it to do its own ordering. Thanks for any input on this matter!

  Hello guys, I hope I can explain this right I have two input fields that require a price to be entered into them in order for donation to go through and submit. The problem that I am having is that I would like the validation process check to see if one of the two fields has a value if so then proceed to submit. If both fields are empty then alert. • Possible apache/mysql/php wrapper?

  I was tasked with writing a smallish program for data input and manipulation. My language of choice happens to be PHP. I have written out the program/site it all works fine is easily portable and everything but have one question. Is there anyway to wrap up apache/mysql/php into a bundle of one exe? I know of MoWes Portable and other options but I am looking to basically wrap everything up into a single exe without much fuss to the end user. My target users are very low on the computer savvy scale. I am trying to avoid a batch file for launching and don't really want them able to shutdown one part on accident and not another (IE shut off mysql but leave apache on).

• Added tagging to existing model, now how does its admin work?

  I wanted to add a StackOverflow-style tag input to a blog model of mine. This is a model that has a lot of data already in it. class BlogPost(models.Model): # my blog fields try: tagging.register(BlogPost) except tagging.AlreadyRegistered: pass I thought that was all I needed so I went through my old database of blog posts (this is a newly ported blog) and copied the tags in. It worked and I could display tags and filter by tag. However, I just wrote a new BlogPost and realise there's no tag field there. Reading the documentation (coincidentally, dry enough to be used as an antiperspirant), I found the TagField. Thinking this would just be a manager-style layer over the existing tagging register, I added it. It complained about there not being a Tag column. I'd rather not denormalise on tags just to satisfy create an interface for inputting them. Is there a TagManager class that I can just set on the model? tags = TagManager() # or somesuch

  Input Server - files of type jpg,tif, raw,png, mov come in via FTP Each file needs to be watermarked, if applicable, and meta data added to the file Then each file needs to be moved to an orders directory where an order file is generated and then packaged as zip file and moved to processing server. The file names are of [orderid_userid_guid].[jpg|tif|mov|png...] As I expect the volume to grow I dont want to work on one file at a time and move it through the work flow. I would prefer multi threaded/asynchronous if possible..

  Hi. Based on a php app we've tried to developp our own webapp in vbscript. All is working well. The camera starts, etc.. The problem we're left with is the following: the flash API is streaming the content of the video to a webpage, this page saves the photo as a jpg. • Good piece of software that can manage the creation of complex web forms, including reporting, etc?

  I have some clients who are requesting for some of their reasonably complex paper-based forms to be converted in to web forms. There's straight Q&A text input stuff, there's questions based around checkboxes, radio boxes, select boxes, maybe the occasional attached image, there's data that has to be entered in a tabular fashion, etc. I am deciding whether I should build a "platform" with properly normalised tables to store all types of form data. But before that, I thought I had better check and see if there is anything like that already on the market. I am looking for a product that can: * Easily create web forms of all types * Store all data in a database * Extensive reporting capability I have had a bit of a look around but there's not a whole lot I can see. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

• Ruby as a scripting language for web server

  Is it possible to use Ruby as a scripting language with a HTTP server ? I'd like to be able to simply put some Ruby files in a web directory and be able to execute them from my browser - just like I did with PHP. I have absolutely nothing against frameworks such as RoR, but I was told that I should first learn Ruby and only then move on with higher level frameworks. Of course, I could write some Ruby scripts and run them in the console, but I would prefer getting the input/output from my browser :) Is that possible at all ? Otherwise, how hard would it be for me to build a quick and simple web framework ?

• Spring - MVC - Sanitize URL before redisplaying to the user

  In my application , a HTTP GET request URL to the application with script tag is getting redisplayed as it is although it fails the authorization. Example: http://www.example.com/welcome<script>alert("hi")</script> The issue is sanitizing external input entered directly into address bar by modifying existing GET URL. Spring redisplays the submitted URL as it is. Though the script does not get executed in the browser(FF), is there anyway to strip the URL of these values before displaying it back to the user Reference: Spring MVC application filtering HTML in URL - Is this a security issue?

  notice that on google maps you can input the address any way you like. as long as it is a valid address...google maps will read it. In some ruby book I had seen code snippet for something like this, but with phone numbers. Any ideas how this could be done for addresses? in language of your choice. EDIT: i dont care about a "valid" address. I just want to parse an address. so that 123 fake street, WA, 34223 would be an address and so will 123 fake street WA 34223

  I am trying to embed binary blobs into an exe file. I am using mingw gcc. I make the object file like this: ld -r -b binary -o binary.o input.txt I then look objdump output to get the symbols: objdump -x binary.o And it gives symbols named: _binary_input_txt_start _binary_input_txt_end _binary_input_txt_size I then try and access them in my C program: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> extern char _binary_input_txt_start[]; int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { char *p; p = _binary_input_txt_start; return 0; } Then I compile like this: gcc -o test.exe test.c binary.o But I always get: undefined reference to _binary_input_txt_start Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Right now, this renders as a set of buttons. I'd like to render it as a table, with each row clickable in the same way (ie, using the 'post' method, so that only the haml file has to be edited without touching the rest of the files). Ideally, I'd also like to be able to sort the table by name, time, or comments, but that might be getting ahead of myself. So how can I change this list of buttons into a table with clickable rows?

  I use the tab key to indent my python code in Vim, but whenever I copy and paste a block Vim replaces every tab with 4 spaces, which raises an IndentationError I tried setting :set paste as suggested in related questions but it makes no difference Other sites suggest pasting 'tabless' code and using the visual editor to re-indent, but this is asking for trouble when it comes to large blocks Are there any settings I can apply to vim to maintain tabs on copy/paste?   Hello, I reading some old ScottGu's blogs on Linq2SQL. Now I'm doing the SPROC part. I'd like to know what's the exact meaning of @variable. See this from ScottGu's Blog ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.GetCustomersDetails ( @customerID nchar(5), @companyName nvarchar(40) output ) AS SELECT @companyName = CompanyName FROM Customers WHERE CustomerID = @customerID SELECT * FROM Orders WHERE CustomerID = @customerID ORDER BY OrderID I'm kind of lost as, so far, I've though of anything preceded by a '@' as a placeholder for user input. But, in the example above, it looks like '@companyName' is used as a regular variable like in C# for instance (SELECT @companyName = ...). But, @companyName is not known yet. So, what the true nature a something preceded by a '@' like above? a vriable? a simple placeholder to accommodate user entered value? Thanks for helping
