    if anyone can help with with I would be grateful. At the moment it works if I manually input the data and tell it what to display, but I what to do is - Allow users to enter amounts to deposit and withdraw using overloaded implementations of the methods makeDeposit and makeWithdrawal. I have tried many things, and can not get it to work, if anyone can help, I would be grateful if anyone can, thanks again Program.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace Tut9 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Account myAcc = new Account(); myAcc.makeDeposit(10000); myAcc.showBalance(); Console.WriteLine("Attempting to withdraw £" + 90); myAcc.makeWithdrawal(90); myAcc.showBalance(); myAcc.giveOverdraft(50); myAcc.showBalance(); Account student = new Account(30, -100); student.giveOverdraft(-500); } } } Account.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace Tut9 { class Account { ////Need to know the balance & ovedraft private int balance; private int overdraft; ////Constructor public Account() { balance = 0; overdraft = 0; } public Account(int initial) { balance = initial; } public Account(int intial, int over) { balance = intial; overdraft = over; } public void giveOverdraft(int amount) { overdraft = amount; } ////Method to display the balance & overdraft public void showBalance() { Console.WriteLine("The balance is now £" + balance); if (overdraft != 0) { Console.WriteLine("You have an overdraft of £" + overdraft); } } ////Method to make a withdrawl public void makeWithdrawal(int y) { balance = balance - y; Console.WriteLine("Withdrew £" + y); } ////Method to make deposit public void makeDeposit(int x) { balance = balance + x; Console.WriteLine("Desposited £" + x); } } }

  • Constructor for an immutable struct

    - by Danvil
    Consider the following simple immutable struct: struct Stash { public int X { get; private set; } public Stash(int _x) { X = _x; } } This is not working, because the compiler wants me to initialize the "backing field" before I can access the property. How can I solve this?

  • Does grails support logging from the src/java classes?

    - by rainyday
    I have a grails app (v 1.1.2) the logging is working fine from the groovy classes, but I can't get it to work from within a java source... I have a class in package com.mforms.devices., it imports apache log4j, defines the logger as follows private final org.apache.log4j.Logger loggy = Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()); then refer to it later by doing loggy.error("...") my Config.groovy has the following log4j = { error 'com.mforms' root { error 'stdout', 'file' additivity = true } } What am I doing wrong?!?!

  • Linking a Text Box to a variable?

    - by cam
    I would like to have direct access to the text inside a textbox on another form, so I added a public variable _txt to a form and added an event like so: private void richTextBox1_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { _txt = richTextBox1.Text; } But the form is loaded like this: public FrmTextChild(string text) { InitializeComponent(); _txt = text; richTextBox1.Text = _txt; Text = "Untitled.txt"; } Is there a better way to directly link the two?

  • C/C++ Struct vs Class

    - by m00st
    After finishing my C++ class it seemed to me the structs/classes are virtually identical except with a few minor differences. I've never programmed in C before; but I do know that it has structs. In C is it possible to inherit other structs and set a modifier of public/private? If you can do this in regular C why in the world do we need C++? What makes classes different from a struct?

  • Access specifier's and classes and objects?

    - by TimothyTech
    Alright, im trying to understand this, so a class is simply creating a template for an object. class Bow { int arrows; }; and an object is simply creating a specific item using the class template. Bow::Bow(arrows) { arrows = 20; } also another question, public specifiers are used to make data members avaible in objects and private specifiers are used to make data memebers only avaialble inside the class?

  • Do I have to put parent::__construct($config) in my CakePHP data source?

    - by Angel S. Moreno
    Is there a good reason to put parent::__construct($config) in the construct of a CakePHP data source I am developing? I see it being used in some of the data sources found in https://github.com/cakephp/datasources/blob/master/models/datasources/amazon_associates_source.php but not sure why. I could just do private $_config = array(); function construct($config){ $this->_config = $config; } and access my $config the same way.

  • Struct inside a class

    - by Balakrishnan
    I have a class definition of the form class X { public: //class functions private: A_type *A; //other class variables }; and struct A_type is defined as struct A_type { string s1,s2,s3; }; Inside the constructor, I allocate appropriate memory for A and try A[0].s1="somestring"; It shows segmentation fault. Is this kind of declaration invalid, or am I missing something

  • Is it a bad programming practise to have "Public" members inside an "Internal" class?

    - by Amby
    I mean, won;t it be more specific and appropriate if i "only" keep "protected","internal" and "private" members (field,method,property,event) in a class which is declared as "internal" ? I have seen this practice ( having "public" members in an "internal" class) in various code so just wanted to know is it a bad practice or does it has some benefit or advantage. [Only concerned about C#] Thanks for your interest.
