  I am on Ubuntu, Apache 2.2 Installed the fcgi via apt-get then removed it via apt-get remove. Installed mod-ruby configuration I added to Apache: LoadModule ruby_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_ruby.so RubyRequire apache/ruby-run <Directory /var/www> Options +ExecCGI </Directory> <Files *.rb> SetHandler ruby-object RubyHandler Apache::RubyRun.instance </Files> <Files *.rbx> SetHandler ruby-object RubyHandler Apache::RubyRun.instance </Files> I have a file in the www direcoty with puts 'baba' I have other files in that directory, all accessible via Apache. Test file has been chmod 777 In the browser I get 403. • Can't Connect To Local Mysql Using IP Address, but CAN connect from remote server

  Here's an interesting one that does not seem to fall into any of the mysql connection issues I've read about or searched for: On an Ubuntu 12.04 box I had some system updates waiting to install, and I took care of that this evening. After the install, I started seeing some errors in my syslog complaining about a particular php script that could no longer connect to the mysql instance on the box. Here is the specific error: PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.0.40' (4) Now, the server's IP address is 192.168.0.40, and I've checked to make sure that I have mysql listening on 0.0.0.0 so that I can connect using either "localhost" or "192.168.0.40". Here's where things get odd: From the local machine, if I try the following: mysql -uroot -p -h192.168.0.40 I get this error: ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.0.40' (110) I've checked, and error 110 indicates an OS timeout, and error 2003 is the mysql generic "can't connect" error. This indicates that it is not permissions with the user. However, if I do the same thing from a remote machine (say, from 192.168.0.30), I log right in with no problems. Futher, other scripts on the local machine that connect to mysql using "localhost" for the host rather than "192.168.0.40" connect with no problems. Also, I can connect via the mysql socket with no problems both from the command line and php scripts. So, this feels like a networking issue of some kind on the local box, but there are no iptables rules on this box (it is firewalled externally) and I can't figure out what else may be causing this. This problematic script worked perfectly prior to the latest system update. For now, I'll simply change the script to connect via localhost, but I'd really like to know why it broke for 2 reasons: There may be other scripts that connect using 192.168.0.40 that don't run very often which are now broken. Auditing them all will take more time than I feel like devoting at the moment. I'm curious, and want to know why it broke so I can fix it correctly. Any help?

• How do I use a self encrypting drive?

  I recently purchased a Micron RealSSD c400 self encrypting drive, and I am having a few issues when trying to get it recognized by my laptop (HP Elitebook 8440p running Windows 7 x64; also tried on a custom-built desktop). When I try to initialize the drive from disk management, I get a CRC error; also, when attempting to partition it from Windows setup, the program can't create the partitions. I also tried with UBCD, nothing. I assume this is due to drive security, but I haven't been able to find much information about this online; do I need a management software or something? I'm completely stumped here. EDIT As requested, when I try partitioning the device from Windows setup I get a 0x80300024 error; when I try initializing it from disk management, I get a "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" message, and the event log shows the following under System: Source: VDS Basic Provider, message: unexpected failure. error code 490@01010004 (2x) Source: Virtual Disk Service, message: VDS fails to write boot code on a disk during clean operation. Error code: 80070001@02070008 (1x) Source: Disk, message: The device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 has a bad block (2x) The security logs show nothing related. Also, when attempting to configure it from UBCD (utility: HDAT2), I get an error along the lines of "can't edit partition information" or something to that tune.

  How install ImageMagic 6.6.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) Problem that lucid have old ImageMagic version(6.5.2) Its very important because me need work with SVG grafics, In my local pc I have ubuntu 11.04 and ImageMagic 6.6.2 and all work fine, In server I have 6.5... and I have problem. Reinstall ubuntu to 11.* this is no solution. I tried change /etc/apt/source.list from ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) to list from ubuntu 11.04 (natty) and update ImageMagic. After this action I have ImageMagic 6.6.2 (I looked phpinfo()) but ImageMagick is not work now. • Karmic iptables missing kernel moduyles on OpenVZ container

  After an unsuccessful p2v migration of my Ubuntu server to an OpenVZ container which I am stack with I thought I would give a try to a reinstall based on a clean OpenVZ template for Ubuntu 9.10 (from the OpenVZ wiki) When I try to load my iptables rules on the VM machine I've been getting errors which I believe are related to kernel modules not being loaded on the VM from the /vz/XXX.conf template model. I've been testing with a few post I've found but I was stack with the error: WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/. FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve/modules.dep: No such file or directory iptables-restore v1.4.4: iptables-restore: unable to initialize table 'raw' Error occurred at line: 2 Try `iptables-restore -h' or 'iptables-restore --help' for more information. I read about the template not loading all iptables modules so I added modules to the XXX.conf of the VZ virtual machine like this: IPTABLES="ip_tables iptable_filter iptable_mangle ipt_limit ipt_multiport ipt_tos ipt_TOS ipt_REJECT ipt_TCPMSS ipt_tcpmss ipt_ttl ipt_LOG ipt_length ip_conntrack ip_conntrack_ftp ip_conntrack_irc ipt_conntrack ipt_state ipt_helper iptable_nat ip_nat_ftp ip_nat_irc" As the error remained I read that I should build dependencies again on the virtual machine: depmod -a but this returned an error: WARNING: Couldn't open directory /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve: No such file or directory FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve/modules.dep.temp for writing: No such file or directory So I read again about creating the directory empty and redoing "depmod -a" it. I've heard that on the CentOS template there are no issues with this, so I understand is to do with VM config. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have some reporting services reports that talk to Analysis Services and at times they fail with the following error: An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for dataset 'AccountManagerAccountManager'. The connection cannot be used while an XmlReader object is open. This occurs sometimes when I change selections in the filter. It also occurs when the machine has been under heavy load and then will consistently error until SSAS is restarted. • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. • Windows 7 hangs while loading desktop

  I am facing a weird problem. My computer hangs while loading the desktop, and only the background shows up; no icons or bars load. If I power the system on and off about 4-6 times, I may be able to use it normally. The desktop loads normally after rebooting or in safe mode; this only occurs when I start the system normally. I've tried several things to fix it, such as removing all start-up items, but it still doesn't solve the problem. What should I do? • How to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6?

  Trying to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6 (mac mini server). But I'm missing the mysql headers apparently. Since mysql is already part of OS X Server 10.6, I would like to NOT install anything else (no fink or darwin ports installs), just whatever's needed to get DBD::mysql installed and working. Do you know how I could do that? Do I have to install the headers somewhere? And if so, where? (again: I don't want to install another version of mysql on the box, want to use the version it came with). Is there a way to install DBD::mysql without compiling any C files?   I have a shared hosting server with high traffic. I have a lightweight apache mod_proxy for static content that from time to time has a "504 proxy error" problem proxing to apache/mod_php. Error log says: error reading status line from remote server 127.0.0.1:8080 Error reading from remote server returned by / This is what the apache documentation says about it. proxy-initial-not-pooled If this variable is set no pooled connection will be reused if the client connection is an initial connection. This avoids the "proxy: error reading status line from remote server" error message caused by the race condition that the backend server closed the pooled connection after the connection check by the proxy and before data sent by the proxy reached the backend. It has to be kept in mind that setting this variable downgrades performance, especially with HTTP/1.0 clients. I am really concerned about this downgrade in performance therefore I started to look at nginx immediately. I am new to nginx and time is crucial right now, I can't afford to waste days to study it just to find out there is the same race condition issue. Is nginx affected by this connection pool race condition? Thanks

  I am practicing virtualhost configuration. In my /var/www directory I have created 3 directories called test1, test2 and test3 each of which has a simple index.php script in it. I have enabled the site(the symlink appears in sites-enabled) and I have restarted apache. However, when I visit localhost/test1, I get a 404 Error. My error log show the following message: [Wed Oct 23 06:22:52 2013] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/test1/test1 I don't know why I get the double test1/test1 in the error logs. • Exchange 2010 Hub cannot deliver to Exchange 2007 Hub - "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication"

  We have an existing Exchange 2007 server in Site A (exch07). I've installed an Exchange 2010 server in Site B (exch10). Both servers have the CAS, Mailbox and Hub roles. Messages sent via SMTP on exch10 which are destined for mailboxes on exch07 are queued with the "Last Error" reported in Queue Viewer as '451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts.' I've found that some people have resolved this by creating new Receive Connectors which are scoped specifically to apply to connections from the remote hub/s, but I have had no luck doing this. Specifically I created new receive connectors on both servers with the following settings: Remote IP = IP/s of remote server Authentication = "Transport Layer Security (TLS)" and "Exchange Server authentication" Permission Groups = "Exchange servers" and "Legacy Exchange Servers" This made no difference, I see the same error message. What am I missing? Update: We noticed that the Application log had this error message from MSExchangeTransportService: Microsoft Exchange could not find a certificate that contains the domain name exch07.domain.local in the personal store on the local computer. Therefore, it is unable to support the STARTTLS SMTP verb for the connector exch10 with a FQDN parameter of exch07.domain.local. If the connector's FQDN is not specified, the computer's FQDN is used. Verify the connector configuration and the installed certificates to make sure that there is a certificate with a domain name for that FQDN. If this certificate exists, run Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services SMTP to make sure that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service has access to the certificate key. It turns out that the default self-signed certificate was no longer enabled for the SMTP service for some reason. After enabling the self-signed certificate for SMTP, we no longer get the error in the event logs, but delivery is still failing with the same error message. Update 2: I put a mailbox on exch10 and attempted to deliver a message via SMTP on exch07 and I get the same error.

• Karmic iptables missing kernel moduyles on OpenVZ container

  After an unsuccessful p2v migration of my Ubuntu server to an OpenVZ container which I am stack with I thought I would give a try to a reinstall based on a clean OpenVZ template for Ubuntu 9.10 (from the OpenVZ wiki) When I try to load my iptables rules on the VM machine I've been getting errors which I believe are related to kernel modules not being loaded on the VM from the /vz/XXX.conf template model. I've been testing with a few post I've found but I was stack with the error: WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/. FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve/modules.dep: No such file or directory iptables-restore v1.4.4: iptables-restore: unable to initialize table 'raw' Error occurred at line: 2 Try `iptables-restore -h' or 'iptables-restore --help' for more information. I read about the template not loading all iptables modules so I added modules to the XXX.conf of the VZ virtual machine like this: IPTABLES="ip_tables iptable_filter iptable_mangle ipt_limit ipt_multiport ipt_tos ipt_TOS ipt_REJECT ipt_TCPMSS ipt_tcpmss ipt_ttl ipt_LOG ipt_length ip_conntrack ip_conntrack_ftp ip_conntrack_irc ipt_conntrack ipt_state ipt_helper iptable_nat ip_nat_ftp ip_nat_irc" As the error remained I read that I should build dependencies again on the virtual machine: depmod -a but this returned an error: WARNING: Couldn't open directory /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve: No such file or directory FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.24-10-pve/modules.dep.temp for writing: No such file or directory So I read again about creating the directory empty and redoing "depmod -a" it. I understand that iptables rules have to be different on the VM machine and perhaps some of the rules we are trying to apply (from our physical server) are not compatible but these are just source IP and destination port checks that I would like to be able to have available . I've heard that on the CentOS template there are no issues with this, so I understand is to do with VM config. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Cannot connect to Solaris Server when Oracle GoldenGate process uses the port

  I'm trying to test the Oracle goldengate to replicate data between two databases on the same server. So I installed two databases and two goldengate homes in the same machine. The goldengate processes are started from each home and they are responsible for the replication : Process from home 1 configured on port 7809 & process for home 2 configured on port 7810. For a successful replication, processes started from goldengate home 1 should communicate with processes started from goldengate home 2. But for some reasons, this is not happening. The goldengate log file has the following error : OGG-01223 Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, exthrr.prm: TCP/IP error 131 (Connection reset by peer). "Googling" for this error, it said that the connection occurred but the host terminated it. Tried to telnet the machine with the used port and it gave the following error: bash-3.00$ telnet 10.10.3.124 7810 Trying 10.10.3.124... Connected to 10.10.3.124. Escape character is '^]'. Connection to 10.10.3.124 closed by foreign host. Here the communication occurs but for only around 3 seconds then it is closed by the host, which is the same explanation of the above error in the goldengate log file. I tried to change the port but still the same error. The problem is happening only when the goldengate process is using the port. When other process is using the same port, I can telnet successfully.

• How to recover the plesk database?

  When I try to launch the Plesk administration page of you server I get the following error: ERROR: PleskMainDBException MySQL query failed: MySQL server has gone away The MySQL Server is working well. Although it seems that the plesk database is somehow corrupt and any action on this database results in a restart of the mysql process, so even queries to other databases on the same MySQL server will be lost. If I try to connect to the plesk database using phpMyAdmin, I can only see the number of tables, the database had originally. But I am not able to open the tables listing. As soon as I try it, the mysql process crashes again. Trying to connect to the database using ssh works. I can even run a SELECT statement against any table an get a result. I don't know if it is an plesk error or an error of the psa database or even the MySQL server. Can you give me any tips on how to recover the plesk system. Should I try to repair the Plesk installation before. And if so, how can I do it and will all my settings get lost doing it? EDIT: Trying to dump the database, I get the following error: mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when using LOCK TABLES

• dovecot/postfix: can send & receive via webmin, however squirrel mail and outlook fail to connect

  I have just finished setting up dovecot and postfix on my server (centos 5.5/apache) earlier today. So far I've been able to get email working through webmin (can send/receive to and from external domains). However, attempting to telnet xxx.xxx.xx.xxx 110 returns the following errors: Connected to xxx.xxx.xx.xxx. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. USER mailtest +OK PASS ********* +OK Logged in. -ERR [IN-USE] Couldn't open INBOX: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. [2011-02-11 22:55:48] Connection closed by foreign host. Which further logs the following error dovecot: Feb 11 21:32:48 Info: pop3-login: Login: user=, method=PLAIN, rip=::ffff:xxx.xxx.xx.xxx, lip=::ffff:xxx.xxx.xx.xxx, TLS dovecot: Feb 11 21:32:48 Error: POP3(mailtest): stat(/home/mailtest/MailDir/cur) failed: Permission denied dovecot: Feb 11 21:32:48 Error: POP3(mailtest): stat(/home/mailtest/MailDir/cur) failed: Permission denied dovecot: Feb 11 21:32:48 Error: POP3(mailtest): Couldn't open INBOX: Internal error occurred. I've pretty much exhausted every resource, and tried every suggestion for my dovecot.conf file, but so far nothing seems to work :( I feel like it may be a permissions/ownership issue, but i'm lost as to specifics.

(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) Unable to open the physical file "E:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\ftrow_Go3D_catalog.ndf". Operating system error 2: "2(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)". Database 'Go3D_Retailer' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details. ALTER DATABASE statement failed. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5120) Background to this error I've been trying to move my destination logshipping database to another physical server for analysis purposes. Because I do not have domain keys and active directory set up, I had to hack my process by using the same username/password for both the source and destination servers to get the process to work. Following that, I used this guy's solution to move the destination database to another server. However, this error occurs when I try to bring the database back online. I don't have an E drive on my server and I have no idea why it's trying to open a file from E drive. I have over a 100gb left on my hard disk so it's definitely not a space issue. This sounds like a bug... Any ideas?

• Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio causing system freeze

  I'm experiencing very slow response from MSSMS and it causes other applications to slow down. Specially Skype crashes after few seconds from opening MSSMS, showing an error called "Disk I/O Error". I'm regularly using few applications (Sublime text, MS Word, Firefox, Outlook, Skype and one or two other apps) simultaneously. The system works fine when MSSMS is not in use! But as soon as MSSMS is opened, all the apps start to freeze (MSSMS also responds very slow). This problem has been there for about a week now (I haven't installed any apps or haven't made any changes to the system during that time). -- System Specifications -- Processor: Core i3 (3.1 GHz) RAM: 4 GB OS: Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) Free space in C drive: ~ 100 GB MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio version - 10.50.1600.1 I've tried to find a reason for this but there are no helpful information in the web! There are some solutions suggested (in forums and in Skype Support pages) for the Skypes' "Disk I/O Error", all of which I tried but does not solve the problem. Has anyone faced the same senario? (and hopefully) knows a solution? Systems Log I don't have much knowledge in interpreting the System Log, but I think the Critical and Warnings are not helpful. But there are lots of Error logs which might be useful. In source Kernal-General there are few similar errors saying "An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably.The Registry could not flush hive (file): <some file>" In source atapi also there are few similar errors -- "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0." (all errors has occurred in 'IdePort0') In Application Error, there are several errors logged, and following is the latest one. Both the Errors which has occurred today is similar (to this one). As it is from Ssms.exe, I guess this is relevant to the cause of problem. But as I said above I can't understand what it means!
