  • IIS7 integrated mode MVC deploy 404 not found on some actions

    Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, and one form posting via Ajax, other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. One interesting thing is that 1 AJAX action is working. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Admins issued aspnet_regiis.exe -i IIS 7 Any help is appreciated. Thx. EDIT: Noticed one very strange thing. One ajax call works, other ajax call doesn't works as I login, but when I move to ther page and return to that one it starts working ?!     hidden:- does it get transferred to the user side? disabled:- does it get transferred to the user side? what i want is, a aspx page will be having many iframes to display different different pages, there will be many div tags to display css formatted information to understand the what i mean by many:- i have to transfer a complete website with 30 aspx pages into one single page! have simply combined every thing resulting in one extremely huge page my concern is the on local host it works loads fast, but when on online server accessed by numerous people for education purposes, the site ( ONE PAGE ) WILL SLOW DOWN terribly to overcome this i thought of using hidden and disable options. can any one help and possible suggest an improved way of achieving the above yes it sounds silly but this is the requirement thank you

    I'm starting with ASP.NET MVC, and working with NerdDinner as reference. I did the following: Created a new project Added a couple of tables Created LINQ to SQL for them Created a new controller My Models directory now contains MyModel.dbml, under which I have MyModel.designer.cs, that contains classes for models relating to both of my tables (let's call them Categories and Products). Now, under my new controller, I would like to create a strongly typed view. So for example I have the following code in my controller (for my application I must work by name, and the "Name" field is unique): public ActionResult Details(string name) { MyModelDataContext db = new MyModelDataContext(); Product user = db.Products.Single(t => t.Name == name); return View(user); } I would like to create a strongly-typed view. So I right-click the line "return View(user)", and choose "Add View...". I click "Create a strongly-typed view". When I click the dropdown of "View data class", I don't see my models, but only: MyProject.Controllers.AccountMembershipService MyProject.Controllers.FormsAuthenticationService What am I missing?

    This is an interview question from google. I am not able to solve it by myself. Can somebody shed some light? Write a program to print the sequence of keystrokes such that it generates the maximum number of character 'A's. You are allowed to use only 4 keys: A, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Only N keystrokes are allowed. All Ctrl+ characters are considered as one keystroke, so Ctrl+A is one keystroke. For example, the sequence A, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V generates two A's in 4 keystrokes. Ctrl+A is Select All Ctrl+C is Copy Ctrl+V is Paste I did some mathematics. For any N, using x numbers of A's , one Ctrl+A, one Ctrl+C and y Ctrl+V, we can generate max ((N-1)/2)2 number of A's. For some N M, it is better to use as many Ctrl+A's, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V sequences as it doubles the number of A's. The sequence Ctrl+A, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+C will not overwrite the existing selection. It will append the copied selection to selected one.

  • Seperate html pages for each screen in Jquery mobile

    I am newbie to Jquery Mobile, so far what ever examples i searched contains only one html page for whole application, with multipe div tags where each page/screen is defined as div tag with data-role as page with some header and footers optionally. Based on user actions, we are hiding some div's(pages) and showing only expected page. Also, this multi-page template seems to be standard design, as written by some blogs. Are there any other designing ways? what I would like to have is multipe html pages, for ex one for login, one for home, one for contact etc. Other wise it is difficult to understand/code/debug issues, especially people from Java background like me.So, what I want is some kind of MVC design with JQueryMobile, like each view/screen as sepearate html associated with one js (Controller). Can we have multiple html pages in JqueryMobile app? If possible how to pass data/ maintain session between them? Any samples are most welcome. Thanks In Advance. Note: Also I don't want server side includes, may app contains 10 to 15 screens, each page will make a webservice call and fetch some data and map it to UI.

  • What is the way to go to fake my database layer in a unit test?

    Hi, i have a question about unit testing. say i have a controller with one create method which puts a new customer in the database: //code a bit shortened public actionresult Create(Formcollection formcollection){ client c = nwe client(); c.Name = formcollection["name"]; ClientService.Save(c); { Clientservice would call a datalayer object and save it in the database. What i do now is create a database testscript and set my database in a know condition before testing. So when i test this method in the unit test, i know that there must be one more client in the database, and what it's name is. In short: ClientController cc = new ClientController(); cc.Create(new FormCollection (){name="John"}); //i know i had 10 clients before assert.areEqual(11, ClientService.GetNumberOfClients()); //the last inserted one is John assert.areEqual("John", ClientService.GetAllClients()[10].Name); So i've read that unit testing should not be hitting the database, i've setup an IOC for the database classes, but then what? I can create a fake database class, and make it do nothing. But then ofcourse my assertions will not work because if i say GetNumberOfClients() it will alwasy return X because it has no interaction with the fake database class used in the Create Method. I can also create a List of Clients in the fake database class, but as there will be two different instance created (one in the controller action and one in the unit test), they will have no interaction. What is the way to make this unit test work without a database?

Is this the best practice? Do I have to create the separated js file to add event on the return text??     If we have a website with multiple images and videos, I've read that it's best to serve them from other domains so that the browser can simultaneously download a bunch of files, rather than waiting one by one for each file to be downloaded. For example, if we have a website http://example.com/, we might consider serving: Videos from http://video.example.com/ Images from http://images.example.com/ etc. Question: can we achieve the simultaneous downloading by tricking the browser into believing that the files are hosted there, or do they actually need to be at that location? We can, for example, pretend to serve video from http://video.example.com/ when actually it's just a clever htaccess rewrite that ACTUALLY serves from http://example.com/video.php. In this case, the video is being served from the main domain but because we refer it as http://video.example.com/, it may think that it's another domain and thus load files simultaneously, rather than one by one. Is this feasible?

  • Javascript Selectbox refresh necessary in YUI 3, when selecting none?

    Hi all, I'm using YUI 3 to let someone click "Select All" or "Select None" and then have the selectbox select all the items or unselect all of them, respectively. Here's my code: // This selects all Y.on('click',function (e) { selectBoxNode.get("options").each(function () { this.removeAttribute('selected'); this.setAttribute('selected','selected'); }); }, selectAllNode ); // This selects none Y.on('click',function (e) { selectBoxNode.get("options").each(function () { this.setAttribute('selected','false'); this.removeAttribute('selected'); }); selectBoxNode.('selectedIndex',-1); }, selectNoneNode ); selectAllLink, selectNoneLink, and selectBoxNode are self-evident, properly returned Nodes. Update: selectAll works, I had to manually remove the 'selected' attribute for each and re-add it. The selectNoneLink doesn't work: it unselects only the elements that weren't before selected... although DOM inspection shows that the selectedIndex attribute is indeed changed to -1, so maybe it needs a refresh? Any help would be appreciated. If this happens in all frameworks, that would be nice to know as well. Thanks!

  • How to avoid multiple, unused has_many associations when using multiple models for the same entity (

    Hello, I'm looking for a nice, Ruby/Rails-esque solution for something. I'm trying to split up some data using multiple tables, rather than just using one gigantic table. My reasoning is pretty much to try and avoid the performance drop that would come with having a big table. So, rather than have one table called books, I have multiple tables: books1, books2, books3, etc. (I know that I could use a partition, but, for now, I've decided to go the 'multiple tables' route.) Each user has their books placed into a specific table. The actual book table is chosen when the user is created, and all of their books go into the same table. The goal is to try and keep each table pretty much even -- but that's a different issue. One thing I don't particularly want to have is a bunch of unused associations in the User class. Right now, it looks like I'd have to do the following: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :books1, :books2, :books3, :books4, :books5 end class Books1 < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user end class Books2 < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user end First off, for each specific user, only one of the book tables would be usable/applicable, since all of a user's books are stored in the same table. So, only one of the associations would be in use at any time and any other has_many :bookX association that was loaded would be a waste. I don't really know Ruby/Rails does internally with all of those has_many associations though, so maybe it's not so bad. But right now I'm thinking that it's really wasteful, and that there may just be a better, more efficient way of doing this. Is there's some sort of special Ruby/Rails methodology that could be applied here to avoid having to have all of those has_many associations? Also, does anyone have any advice on how to abstract the fact that there's multiple book tables behind a single books model/class?

    Our application needs a simple scheduling mechanism - we can schedule only one visit per room for the same time interval (but one visit can be using one or more rooms).   • why doesn't IE8 refresh textbox right away?(Jquery)

    I have 3 radio buttons and one textbox in my page. These 3 radio controls represent corresponding choice and among them, the third one enables textbox that is disabled by default. If user clicks any one from the first twos after clicking the third, the textbox will be emptied(if user input any) and disabled again. The problem is, in IE, the textbox isn't emptied not until I click back once again on the said textbox. I've used jquery val methods as well as attr but nothing seems to work. You can see my code as follows. The very same code works just fine in Mozilla.   • jQuery e.target bubbling best practice ?

    In my heavy-ajax code, i always bind "click" the body tag & act depending on $(e.target) & using $.fn.hasClass(). However when i click on an anchor that has a </span> tag inside, my $(e.target) equals this node, and not the parent anchor as i would like it to. From now on, i have used this trick (var $t = $(e.target);) : /** bubbling **/ if($t.get(0).tagName !== "A" && $t.get(0).tagName !== "AREA") { $t = $t.parent("a"); if(empty($t)) return true; //else console.log("$t.bubble()", $t); } It feels wrong somehow... Do you have any better implementation ? $.fn.live() does not solve my issue as it still returns the span as the target. Moreover i'm looking for speed (running on atom-based touch devices) & live appeared to be way slower (twice) : http://jsperf.com/bind-vs-click/3 In fact, as @Guffa pointed, using $.fn.live() solves the span bubbling issue as i don't need the event.target anymore. I guess there is no other "right" answer here (using bind).
