  • How do you create a Google Maps-esque drop down dialog?

    - by Daniel Lew
In the Google Maps application, when you open the menu and click on "Directions", it pops up a dialog that is unique to Google Maps. It keeps the MapView in the background, but displays the search dialog from the top (or bottom, if you're on an old version of Android). I was curious if anyone knew how they achieved this effect. I'm willing to create a custom Dialog, but it seems that Dialogs are designed to pop into the middle of the screen (any other types of dialogs are denied permission as system dialogs). What trick is Google Maps using?

  • Building Website With Video Upload Feature - Possible Implementations?!

    - by Goober
Hello! Currently I have a static html/css website that I want to build a backend onto in order to upload high quality videos to the site. I'm not entirely sure how I might go about doing this.......suggestions for implementations, language to use etc. would be greatly appreciated. I have no constraints aside from of course, spending millions of pounds......I plan to do this myself too.

  • How to read and save data from text file with variable number of columns in a Matrix in Matlab

    - by khan
    I have a text file with integer values. each row contains information about specific object. But unfortunately each row has different number of column. because of which when i try to use file_content = load('txtfile.txt'); it gives me error message that previous number of columns does not match. i also tried to use fgetl, fscanf, etc function but was unsuccessful. Can anybody give me a piece of code, or help me how to read a txt file and save in matrix in matlab. Three sample rows are given below. 1 1 1 1 1 95 17 54 111 92 17 54 111 92 17 54 111 92 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 54 109 92 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 17 58 111 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 1 1 1 2 96 185 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 15 56 109 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 54 107 92 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 54 109 92 15 54 109 92 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 1 1 1 3 186 245 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 56 109 94 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 15 58 109 96 13 58 107 96 13 56 107 94 13 56 107 94 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 56 107 94 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 13 60 107 98 13 58 107 96 13 58 107 96 15 58 109 96 13 58 107 96 As you can see the rows doesn't have equal number of columns. So how can i read and save it in a Matrix. Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated. Thanks

  • How can I tell if a closed path contains a given point?

    - by Tom Seago
In Android, I have a Path object which I happen to know defines a closed path, and I need to figure out if a given point is contained within the path. What I was hoping for was something along the lines of path.contains(int x, int y) but that doesn't seem to exist. The specific reason I'm looking for this is because I have a collection of shapes on screen defined as paths, and I want to figure out which one the user clicked on. If there is a better way to be approaching this such as using different UI elements rather than doing it "the hard way" myself, I'm open to suggestions. I'm open to writing an algorithm myself if I have to, but that means different research I guess.

  • Seamlessly use large background images on webpages

    - by Ben Shelock
I want to have huge background images on my site but without giving the user a hard time downloading them and the site looking ugly as the background loads. They would be no bigger than 1920 X 1080 in size, however it's hard to say in terms of kilobytes/megabytes. What are my options here and which are most effective? I'm not too bothered about bandwidth, just want to user to think everything looks nice ;)

  • Warning generated by UIButton setting code

    - by Spider-Paddy
    I have a for loop setting the background images on buttons, basically the buttons are thumbnail previews of different items & can't be set statically, however the code gives an warning because it runs through all the UIViews but then calls setBackgroundImage which does not apply to all views. The warning is an irritation, I understand what it's complaining about, how can I get rid of it? (I don't want to turn off the warning, I want to fix the problem) // For loop to set button images for (UIView *subview in [self.view subviews]) // Loop through all subviews { // Look for the tagged buttons, only the 8 tagged buttons & within array bounds if((subview.tag >= 1) && (subview.tag <= 8) && (subview.tag < totalBundles)) { // Retrieve item in array at position matching button tag (array is 0 indexed) NSDictionary *bundlesDataItem = [bundlesDataSource objectAtIndex:(subview.tag - 1)]; // Set button background to thumbnail of current bundle NSString *picAddress = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://some.thing.com/data/images/%@/%@", [bundlesDataItem objectForKey:@"Nr"], [bundlesDataItem objectForKey:@"Thumb"]]; NSURL *picURL = [NSURL URLWithString:picAddress]; NSData *picData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:picURL]; // Warning is generated here [subview setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageWithData:picData] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } }

  • Can Somebody Explain this java code

    - by dubbeat
    Hi, I'm just starting out on android and my java is verry rusty. I can't remember ever seeing a function nested in another function like this before. Could somebody explain to me exactly what final does and explain why you would nest a function in another like this? private final Handler handler = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(final Message msg) { Log.v(Constants.LOGTAG, " " + ReviewList.CLASSTAG + " worker thread done, setup ReviewAdapter"); progressDialog.dismiss(); if ((reviews == null) || (reviews.size() == 0)) { empty.setText("No Data"); } else { reviewAdapter = new ReviewAdapter(ReviewList.this, reviews); setListAdapter(reviewAdapter); } } };

  • Detecting Markers Using OpenCV

    - by Hamza Yerlikaya
I am trying to detect various objects containing colored markers, so a red blue green marker identifies object A, and a red blue red marker identifies object B. My problem is I can't use template matching cause objects can be rotated, currently I am thinking about check for each color then find the object by checking the distance between colors but it seems inefficient, so my question is there a better way to do this?

  • How to move something from a virtual dpad on-screen

    - by Kriegalex
Hello everyone, I've started a little game, and so far I'm moving a little guy with onKeyDown() and the DPAD from Android Emulator. Now what I want to do is to add 4 buttons on the screen (like in a GAMEBOY emulator for example) and these buttons should move my little guy. With a clickListener and onClick() (or touchListener and onTouch()), it's ok for one move but how to do if I want that my little guy continues moving when I stay clicked on the button ??? Buttons are enough or should I make a 4 arrows soft keyboard or anything else ?? Thanks

  • Loading images from Facebook in Flash Builder

    - by wannax
Hi, I'm doing a Facebook App where I'd like to pull out all the possible images from a user's album. What I'm trying to do at the moment is a fql query so that i can find all the images that belong to that specific user. it goes something like that: protected function loadFromFacebook(event:MouseEvent):void { var fql:String = "select src_small from photo where owner = me()"; Facebook.fqlQuery(fql, handleGetPhotosResponse); } private function handleGetPhotosResponse(event:Object, fail:Object):void { if (event != null){ facebookPhotos = new ArrayCollection(event as Array); } } I store this images in an array collection but I don't know how to proceed after that. How can I load those images into, say, a Tile List or a Loader? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

  • Java: BufferedImage from raw BMP file format data

    - by Victor
Hello there. I've got BMP file's raw pixels table in byte[], it's structure is: (b g r) (b g r) ... (b g r) padding ... (b g r) (b g r) ... (b g r) padding Where r, g, b are byte each, padding is to round row length up to a multiple of 4 bytes. So, how can I create new BufferedImage from this raw data without copying, just using this raw data? I took a look at creating BufferedImage from DataBuffer, but I just didn't get it. Unfortunately ImageIO is not allowed in my situation.

  • Recording audio from many source/microphones

    - by user657429
I'm curious if it's possible to record audio from many sources and if not, what's the limitation. Many current devices have two internal microphones (basically for noise reduction). On top of that it's possible to plug additional external one using audiojack. You can as well have another audio stream via bluetooth headset. You are allowed to specify AudioSource in android but is it possible to do recording from many sources at the same time? I'm also interested how the situation look like on the iOS devices.

  • question about asynchronous http

    - by rantravee
Hi , I just want to check if I understood well the way asynchronous Http request work on Android. Suppose I make such a request and set a ResponseHandler<String> responseHandler to handle the response. By doing this is it possible to have the UI thread blocked waiting for the response ? The implication being that the code in the function: public String handleResponse(HttpResponse response) is also executed on the UI thread or is there silently spawned a thread that waits for the response and calls the handleResponse(HttpResponse response) function when the response arrives ?

  • I have to make a simple app that connects devices in a network, but I have no idea of how to this

    - by Gabriel Casado
I want to write an App for android that has only one ListView. The App will constantly search for anything (mobile devices, desktops, etc.) that is connected in the wifi network. The problem is, I have no idea how to do this. What do I need to study? I comprehend I'd need to use a Thread or a Runnable to constantly search for those devices. Also I know very little about TCP, UDP or any internet protocols. So, can someone give me a basis of what I need to learn to develop this App?

  • Changing Pushpin Text Color

    - by Yawus
I'm attempting to display data through the text of a Pushpin object. However, the text color defaults to white which is nigh-invisible when the backdrop is a road-style MapView. Looking through the API, paying especially close attention to PushpinOptions, I couldn't find anything that manipulated text color. Considering that this seems to a fairly basic feature, I'm a little confused as to why it doesn't exist or at least is really hard to find. Am I missing something or does Bing Maps for Android really not let you change the default text color for a Pushpin object?
