• How to Implement Project Type "Copy", "Move", "Rename", and "Delete"

  You've followed the NetBeans Project Type Tutorial and now you'd like to let the user copy, move, rename, and delete the projects conforming to your project type. When they right-click a project, they should see the relevant menu items and those menu items should provide dialogs for user interaction, followed by event handling code to deal with the current operation. Right now, at the end of the tutorial, the "Copy" and "Delete" menu items are present but disabled, while the "Move" and "Rename" menu items are absent: The NetBeans Project API provides a built-in mechanism out of the box that you can leverage for project-level "Copy", "Move", "Rename", and "Delete" actions. All the functionality is there for you to use, while all that you need to do is a bit of enablement and configuration, which is described below. If you were to run the application right now, all the Actions we're interested in would be enabled (if they are visible, as described in step 4 below) but when you invoke any of them you'd get an error message because each of the DefaultProjectOperations above looks in the Lookup of the Project for the presence of an implementation of a class for handling the operation. That's what we're going to do in the next step. Provide Implementations of Project Operations. For each of our operations, the NetBeans Project API lets you implement classes to handle the operation. The dialogs for interacting with the project are provided by the NetBeans project system, but what happens with the folders and files during the operation can be influenced via the operations. Below are the simplest possible implementations, i.e., here we assume we want nothing special to happen. When you run the application, you should see this: Let's now try out the various actions: Copy. When you invoke the Copy action, you'll see the dialog below. Provide a new project name and location and then the copy action is performed when the Copy button is clicked below: The message you see above, in red, might not be relevant to your project type. When you right-click the application and choose Branding, you can find the string in the Resource Bundles tab, as shown below: However, note that the message will be shown in red, no matter what the text is, hence you can really only put something like a warning message there. If you have no text at all, it will also look odd.If the project has subprojects, the copy operation will not automatically copy the subprojects. Take a look here and here for similar more complex scenarios. Move. When you invoke the Move action, the dialog below is shown: Rename. The Rename Project dialog below is shown when you invoke the Rename action: I tried it and both the display name and the folder on disk are changed. Delete. When you invoke the Delete action, you'll see this dialog: The checkbox is not checkable, in the default scenario, and when the dialog above is confirmed, the project is simply closed, i.e., the node hierarchy is removed from the application. • WTSQuerySessionInformation returning empty strings

  I've written a program which should query the Terminal Services API and print out some state information about the sessions running on a terminal services box. I'm using the WTSQuerySessionInformation function to do this and it's returning some data but most of the data seems to be missing... Does anyone know why?   I overused hashSets but it was slow, then changed to Stacks, speed boost-up. Poly's reply uses Collections.emptyList() as immutable list, cutting out excess null-checkers. No Collections.emptyStack(). Combining the words stack and immutability, from the last experiences, gets "immutable stack" (probably not related to functional prog). Java Api 5 for list interface shows that Stack is an implementing class for list and arraylist, here. The java.coccurrent pkg does not have any immutable Stack data structure. The first hinted of misusing stack. The lack of immutabily in the last and poly's book recommendation leads way to list. • XSL testing empty strings with <xsl:if> and sorting

  I am having trouble with a template that has to check 3 different nodes and if they are not empty, print the data I am using for each node then doing the output but it is not printing anything. It is like the test returns zero. I have selected the parent node of each node i want to check the length on as the template match but it still doesn't work. • How to export SSIS to Microsoft Excel without additional software?

  This question is long winded because I have been updating the question over a very long time trying to get SSIS to properly export Excel data. I managed to solve this issue, although not correctly. Aside from someone providing a correct answer, the solution listed in this question is not terrible. The only answer I found was to create a single row named range wide enough for my columns. In the named range put sample data and hide it. SSIS appends the data and reads metadata from the single row (that is close enough for it to drop stuff in it). The data takes the format of the hidden single row. This allows headers, etc. WOW what a pain in the butt. It will take over 450 days of exports to recover the time lost. However, I still love SSIS and will continue to use it because it is still way better than Filemaker LOL. My next attempt will be doing the same thing in the report server. Original question notes: If you are in Sql Server Integrations Services designer and want to export data to an Excel file starting on something other than the first line, lets say the forth line, how do you specify this? I tried going in to the Excel Destination of the Data Flow, changed the AccessMode to OpenRowSet from Variable, then set the variable to "YPlatters$A4:I20000" This fails saying it cannot find the sheet. The sheet is called YPlatters. I thought you could specify (Sheet$)(Starting Cell):(Ending Cell)? Update Apparently in Excel you can select a set of cells and name them with the name box. This allows you to select the name instead of the sheet without the $ dollar sign. Oddly enough, whatever the range you specify, it appends the data to the next row after the range. Oddly, as you add data, it increases the named selection's row count. Another odd thing is the data takes the format of the last line of the range specified. My header rows are bold. If I specify a range that ends with the header row, the data appends to the row below, and makes all the entries bold. if you specify one row lower, it puts a blank line between the header row and the data, but the data is not bold. Another update No matter what I try, SSIS samples the "first row" of the file and sets the metadata according to what it finds. However, if you have sample data that has a value of zero but is formatted as the first row, it treats that column as text and inserts numeric values with a single quote in front ('123.34). I also tried headers that do not reflect the data types of the columns. I tried changing the metadata of the Excel destination, but it always changes it back when I run the project, then fails saying it will truncate data. If I tell it to ignore errors, it imports everything except that column. Several days of several hours a piece later... Another update I tried every combination. A mostly working example is to create the named range starting with the column headers. Format your column headers as you want the data to look as the data takes on this format. In my example, these exist from A4 to E4, which is my defined range. SSIS appends to the row after the defined range, so defining A4 to E68 appends the rows starting at A69. You define the Connection as having the first row contains the field names. It takes on the metadata of the header row, oddly, not the second row, and it guesses at the data type, not the formatted data type of the column, i.e., headers are text, so all my metadata is text. If your headers are bold, so is all of your data. I even tried making a sample data row without success... I don't think anyone actually uses Excel with the default MS SSIS export. If you could define the "insert range" (A5 to E5) with no header row and format those columns (currency, not bold, etc.) without it skipping a row in Excel, this would be very helpful. From what I gather, noone uses SSIS to export Excel without a third party connection manager. Any ideas on how to set this up properly so that data is formatted correctly, i.e., the metadata read from Excel is proper to the real data, and formatting inherits from the first row of data, not the headers in Excel? One last update (July 17, 2009) I got this to work very well. One thing I added to Excel was the IMEX=1 in the Excel connection string: "Excel 8.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1". This forces Excel (I think) to look at all rows to see what kind of data is in it. Generally, this does not drop information, say for instance if you have a zip code then about 9 rows down you have a zip+4, Excel without this blanks that field entirely without error. With IMEX=1, it recognizes that Zip is actually a character field instead of numeric. And of course, one more update (August 27, 2009) The IMEX=1 will succeed importing data with missing contents in the first 8 rows, but it will fail exporting data where no data exists. So, have it on your import connection string, but not your export Excel connection string. I have to say, after so much fiddling, it works pretty well.

In fact, it's just a Sequence with a Receive and [currently] a custom Activity called InvokeActivity. Get to that in a bit. Receive Activity accepts a custom type, [DataContract] public class Workflow { [DataMember] public string Xaml { get; set; } } which contains a string whose contents are to be interpreted as Xaml. You can see the VB expression that then converts this Xaml to an Activity and passes it on. Now this second bit, the custom InvokeActivity is where I have questions. First question: 1) given an arbitrary task, provided at runtime [as described above] is it possible to kick off this Activity using Activities that ship with WF4RC, out of the box? Unfortunately, however, this fails. When I attempt to schedule said Activity, the runtime returns with the following exception The provided activity was not part of this workflow definition when its metadata was being processed. The problematic activity named 'DynamicActivity' was provided by the activity named 'InvokeActivity'. Right, so the "dynamic" Activity provided at runtime is not a member of InvokeActivitys metadata. Googled and came across this. Couldn't sort out how to specify an InArgument<Activity> to metadata cache, so my second question is, naturally, how does one address this issue? Is it ill advised to use context.ScheduleActivity (...) in this manner? Eventually, I would like to tap into WF's tracking and possibly persistance facilities. So my third and final question is, in terms of what I would like to do [ie kick off arbitrary workflows inbound from client applications] is this the preferred method? • ASP.NET MVC & Silverlight development - on Ubuntu

  I recently moved my working environment from Windows 7 to Ubuntu, and enjoy this every minute of my working day. My work is currently to develop ASP.NET MVC and Silverlight applications. Thus, important Windows stuff is being still run in VirtualBox (such as IIS, MSSQL, Silverlight 3, and legacy COM stuff). For now, I use Visual Studio under VirtualBox as editor/IDE/debugger. But since I prefer Ubuntu fonts and UI much more I'd like to move at least editor (and better IDE) to native Ubuntu. Things I have already done: I store project files in my home folder and run Visual Studio from \vboxsvr share. With few tricks for ASP.NET it works. I use svn on Ubuntu. I test my ASP.NET MVC site using FireFox/FireBug on Ubuntu. What I need on Ubuntu: SQL client to manage MSSQL. I mostly need querying, but I would miss SQL intellisense support. I enjoy command-line svn a lot, but there're times when it's not enough (e.g. view files / check diffs / selectively commit at the sames time) so I wonder if there're any addons - I don't mean replacement for svn, just addons for rare cases like above. I wonder if there're editors that can provide some C# intellisense. Yes I know about MonoDevelop, but will it provide intellisense without compiling (since I'm going to compile remotely in Win box)? And pretty big topic, what's the best way (editor/IDE) to do "folder-based" development? What I mean: The project is /trunk. Everything is there. I don't want to manually add files to project or like that. The project is the folder and files down there. Main task is to edit files of course. I need a quick way to open / search for files in the project. Like in Resharper, I can click Ctrl-Shift-T (IIRC) and just type file name, a list of matching files in the project folder and below is shown. For example, gedit has file tree browser, but I can't quickly type XYZ to find all XYZ files there; moreover it doesn't automatically switch focus to/from editor; so it's more mouse-oriented; I need 100% keyboard way. I need syntax highlighting for C#/HTML/JS. Most importantly, I need HTML tags autocompletion. I can live without it, but I'll be sorry. I need to run compilation remotely (via ssh I think, invoking NAnt script which does MSBuild) and grab results such as errors and warnings, and I'd prefer to quickly go to error line/file. In short, I need to edit/search/open/svn/compile/run files in some folder. Looks like a case for command-line, but imaging I'm in /trunk and want to open file.cs inside /trunk/foo/bar/boo/far, I wouldn't want to type all this path even with bash autocompletion help. I'd prefer to enter :open file.cs, and maybe then select from list of file.cs and file1.cs. Well, maybe I'll add more soon. Actually, I don't have exact requirements; for example, I don't even know if I need to ask for IDE or editor; or should it have svn support integrated or I need to use it from console; do people work with files from console (search/commit/delete/etc) and open editor from there, or they work from editor/IDE and manage files (search/commit/delete) from there? What's better? I have a feeling that vim might have everything I need. I'd like to confirm that, before I spend a lot of time learning it. No I don't want Emacs. Any other IDE? I like Eclipse, but is it good for such stuff? And after all, do you feel like it's a good way to go? I enjoy Ubuntu, enjoy learning new stuff, and Ubuntu + Windows in VirtualBox actually runs faster than Windows7 on my mahcine, but maybe I need to keep development (editor/files management/etc) in Windows/VirtualBox only, leaving other stuff for Ubuntu?

• WPF - List View Row Index and Validation

  Hi, I have a ListView with TextBoxes in second column. I want to validate that my text box does not contain a number if the third column(data_type) is "Text". I am unable to do the validation. I tried a few approaches. In one approach I try to handle the MouseDown event and am trying to get the Row number so that I can get the data_type value of that row. I want to us this value in the Validate method. I have been struggling for a week now. • Remote EJB lookup issue with WebSphere 6.1

  I've seen this question asked before, but I've tried various solutions proposed, to no avail. Essentially, I have two EJB enterprise applications, that need to communicate with one another. The first is a web application, the second is a search server - they are located on different development servers, not in the same node, cell, or JVM, although they are on the same physical box. I'm doing the JNDI lookup via IIOP, and the URL I am using is as follows: iiop://searchserver:2819 In my hosts file, I've set searchserver to 127.0.0.1. The ports for my search server are bound to this hostname too. However, when the web app (that uses Spring btw) attempts to lookup the search EJB, it fails with the following error. This is driving me nuts, surely this kind of comms between the servers should be fairly simple to get working. I've checked the ports and they are correct. I note that the exception says the initial context is H00723Node03Cell/nodes/H00723Node03/servers/server1, name: ejb/com/hmv/dataaccess/ejb/hmvsearch/HMVSearchHome. This is the web apps server NOT the search server. Is this correct? How can I get Spring to use the right context? • Silverlight Chat WrapPanel Crash / Bug

  I've been given the task to create a simple Silverlight chat box for two people. My control must adhere to the following requirements Scrollable Text must wrap if it's too long When a new item / message is added it must scroll that item into view Now I've successfully made a usercontrol to meet these requirements, but I've run into a possible bug / crash that I can't for the life of me fix. I'm looking for either a fix to the bug, or a different approach to creating a scrollable chat control. Here's the code I've been using. The Item (as layed out in the XAML) is a simple 2 column grid. One column for the username, and one column for the message. Now the "items" that I add to the ListBox is a custom class. It has three properties (Player, ForeColor, and Message) that I using binding on within my XAML Player is a string of the current user to display. ForeColor is just a foreground color preference. It helps distinguish the difference between messages. Message is a WrapPanel. I programmatically break the supplied string on the white space for each word. FireBug returns a ManagedRuntimeError #4004 with a XamlParseException. I'm soo close to having this control work, I can taste it! Any thoughts on what I should do or change? Is there a better approach than the one I've taken? Thanks in advance. UPDATE I've found an alternative solution using a ScrollViewer and an ItemsControl instead of a ListBox control. Like I want to be at least half the time programming otherwise my skills will never improve since I will never be programming in teams and stuff. At the same time I have no experience in the industry so on the other side I am thinking just go for it and then maybe a year later try to get a full programming job(provided that I got the job). • Am I going about this the right way?

  Hey Guys, I'm starting a WPF project, and just finished the base of the UI, it seems very convoluted though, so I'm not sure if I've gone around laying it out in the right way. I don't want to get to start developing the back-end and realise that I've done the front wrong, and make life harder for myself. Coming from a background of <DIV's and CSS to style this is a lot different, and really want to get it right from the start. Essentially it's a one week calendar (7 days, Mon-Sunday, defaulting to the current week.) Which will eventually link up to a DB and if I have an appointment for something on this day it will show it in the relevant day. I've opted for a Grid rather than ListView because of the way it will work I will not be binding the results to a collection or anything along those lines. Rather I will be filling out a Combo box within the canvas for each day (yet to be placed in the code) for each event and on selection it will show me further details. • Advice on my jQuery Ajax Function

  So on my site, a user can post a comment on 2 things: a user's profile and an app. The code works fine in PHP but we decided to add Ajax to make it more stylish. The comment just fades into the page and works fine. I decided I wanted to make a function so that I wouldn't have to manage 2 (or more) blocks of codes in different files. So, some problems: When I hit the button the page refreshes. What fixed this was taking the return false from the function and putting it into the button click. Any way to keep it in the function and have the same effect? But my real question is this: Can any coders out there that are familiar to jQuery tell me techniques, coding practices, or ways to write my code more efficiently/elegantly? I've done a lot of work in PHP but I know that echoing the date may not be the most efficient way to get the date and time. So any tips that can really help me streamline this function and also make me better with writing jQuery are very welcome!

• Windows 2008 RenderFarm Service: CreateProcessAsUser "Session 0 Isolation" and OpenGL

  Hello, I have a legacy Windows server service and (spawned) application that works fine in XP-64 and W2K3, but fails on W2K8. I believe it is because of the new "Session 0 isolation " feature. (Note: As a StackOverflow newbie I'm being limited to one link in this post, so you'll need to scroll to bottom to lookup the links for '' items)* Consequently, I'm looking for code samples/security settings mojo that let you create a new process from a windows service for Windows 2008 Server such that I can restore (and possibly surpass) the previous behavior. I need a solution that: Creates the new process in a non-zero session to get around session-0 isolation restrictions (no access to graphics hardware from session 0) - the official MS line on this is: Because Session 0 is no longer a user session, services that are running in Session 0 do not have access to the video driver. This means that any attempt that a service makes to render graphics fails. Querying the display resolution and color depth in Session 0 reports the correct results for the system up to a maximum of 1920x1200 at 32 bits per pixel. The new process gets a windows station/desktop (e.g. winsta0/default) that can be used to create windows DCs. I've found a solution (that launches OK in an interactive session) for this here: *(Starting an Interactive Client Process in C++ - 2) The windows DC, when used as the basis for an *(OpenGL DescribePixelFormat enumeration - 3), is able to find and use the hardware-accelerated format (on a system appropriately equipped with OpenGL hardware.) Note that our current solution works OK on XP-64 and W2K3, except if a terminal services session is running (VNC works fine.) A solution that also allowed the process to work (i.e. run with OpenGL hardware acceleration even when a terminal services session is open) would be fanastic, although not required. I'm stuck at item #1 currently, and although there are some similar postings that discuss this (like *(this -4), and *(this - 5) - they are not suitable solutions, as there is no guarantee of a user session logged in already to "take" a session id from, nor am I running from a LocalSystem account (I'm running from a domain account for the service, for which I can adjust the privileges of, within reason, although I'd prefer to not have to escalate priorities to include SeTcbPrivileges.) For instance - here's a stub that I think should work, but always returns an error 1314 on the SetTokenInformation call (even though the AdjustTokenPrivileges returned no errors) I've used some alternate strategies involving "LogonUser" as well (instead of opening the existing process token), but I can't seem to swap out the session id. I'm also dubious about using the WTSActiveConsoleSessionId in all cases (for instance, if no interactive user is logged in) - although a quick test of the service running with no sessions logged in seemed to return a reasonable session value (1). Its working when i tried to refresh only topics but it doesnt works when tried to refresh topics and page-links. ie. topics table's refreshing, and 'pagelinks' disappearing, i thought pure cannot reach - read second template node. By the way, i tested their code, first message box show up all of nodes - includes 'pagelinks' node, but second one - in function only show up topic rows. Its look like a bug. Anyone knows how can i solve this? ps. I'm using latest version of pure. Thanks. • XHTML / CSS help?

  Basically on GunChester my project I have an few pixel wide gap between #login_top (top image holder) and the 3 CSS col's below, #login_left, #login_centre and #login_right so that my first question why? and how can I fix this, this is in FF, Chrome and IE. Secondly the BG image seems to be overlaying twice as in its stretched at the top then the full picture does display as it should. I did have it working but when trying to fix the pixel gap I must of messed something up but no idea what, so it is now going pear shape, lease help with both these situations :)? • Does RVM "failover" to another ruby instance on error?

  Have a strange problem in that I have a Rake task that seems to be using multiple versions of Ruby. When one fails, it seems to try another one. Details MacBook running 10.6.5 rvm 1.1.0 Rubies: 1.8.7-p302, ree-1.8.7-2010.02, ruby-1.9.2-p0 Rake 0.8.7 Gem 1.3.7 Veewee (provisioning Virtual Machines using Opcode.com, Vagrant and Chef) I'm not entirely sure the specific details of the error matter, but since it might be an issue with Veewee itself. So, what I'm trying to do is build a new box base on a veewee definition. The command fails with an error about a missing method- but what's interesting is how it fails. Errors I managed to figure out that if I only have one Ruby installed with RVM, it just fails. If I have more than one Ruby install, it fails at the same place, but execution seems to continue in another interpreter. Here are two different clipped console outputs. I've clipped them for size. • Hung JVM consuming 100% CPU

  We have a JAVA server running on Sun JRE 6u20 on Linux 32-bit (CentOS). We use the Server Hotspot with CMS collector with the following options (I've only provided the relevant ones): -Xmx896m -Xss128k -XX:NewSize=384M -XX:MaxPermSize=96m -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC Sometimes, after running for a while, the JVM seems to slip into a hung state, whereby even though we don't make any requests to the application, the CPU continues to spin at 100% (we have 8 logical CPUs, so it looks like only one CPU does the spinning). In this state the JVM doesn't respond to SIGHUP signals (kill -3) and we can't connect to it normally with jstack. We CAN connect with "jstack -F", but the output is dodgy (we can see lots of NullPointerExceptions from JStack apparently because it wasn't able to 'walk' some stacks). So the "jstack -F" output seems to be useless. We have checked the memory usage on the box, there seems to be enough memory available and the system is not swapping. Has anyone come across such a situation? Does it look like a JVM bug? UPDATE I've obtained some more information about this problem (it happened again on a server that has been running for more than 7 days). When the JVM entered the "hung" state it stayed like that for 2 hours until the server was manually restarted. We have obtained a core dump of the process and the gc log. We tried to get a heap dump as well, but "jmap" failed. We tried to use jmap -F but then only a 4Mb file was written before the program aborted with an exception (something about the a memory location not being accessible). So far I think the most interesting information comes from the gc log. The fact that the server stayed in the hung state for 2 hours (probably trying to GC and compact the old generation) seems quite strange to me. Also, the gc log stops suddenly with that message and nothing else gets printed any more, probably because the VM Thread gets into some sort of infinite loop (or something that takes 2+ hours).

  hi, i am very new in android development as well as in java. i had developed an application that gets an image url from a site and wanted to download it into the device and later on i would like to enable users to set it as wallpapers. however, i am met a problem when assigning onclick event to a button. Once i uncomment the line in red, it will pop up a box stating that the application was stopped unexpectedly.
