• icefaces datatable component

  I have two datatable in two different jspx page but when I call one then i try to call other old one still display what is the problem there. from the old page only datatable is display no other component are displayed. • OpenNETCF Signature control question

  I am using the Signature control in OpenNETCF. It works great for most everything I need. However, I need a way invert the signature and load it back in. It has a call to get the "bytes" for the signature (GetSignatureEx()). It returns a byte[] of the signature. This signature can then be loaded back in with LoadSignatureEx(). I can't seem to figure out the system for these bytes. I thought they may be coordinates, but it does not seem so now. If anyone out there knows a way to invert the signature and load it back in, I would be grateful to hear it.

• linq2sql - where to enlist transaction (repository or bll)?

  My app uses a business layer which calls a repository which uses linq to sql. I have an Item class that has an enum type property and an ItemDetail property. I need to implement a delete method that: (1) always delete the Item (2) if the item.type is XYZ and the ItemDetail is not null, delete the ItemDetail as well. My question is where should this logic be housed? If I have it in my business logic which I would prefer, this involves two separate repository calls, each of which uses a separate datacontext. I would have to wrap both calls is a System.Transaction which (in sql 2005) get promoted to a distributed transaction which is not ideal. I can move it all to a single repository call and the transaction will be handled implicitly by the datacontext but feel that this is really business logic so does not belong in the repository. Problem here is the xwriter.WriteElementString will escape all "<" and "" symbols with &lt and &gt. I have checked MSDN to see if there is a way to disable it, but have not found an answer. Is there a way to disable the auto-escape features?

• Alternative Input Device(Midi) doesn't prevent Screen Saver in Winforms application

  I have developed a c# winforms application whereby the user is providing input via a midi connected device. The user will go for long periods without using the keyboard or mouse. When I receive a midi message is there anything I can do to "tell" the system that this counts as user activity (ie key press). I don't want the screen saver or time lockouts to occur, if they are actively using the midi device. I think my request is different than other requests I've seen because they want to disable screen savers for the life of their application whereby I just want midi input I receive to count as user interactivity. Is there something I can call when I receive midi input to signify to the system user activity?

• C# Conditional Operator Not a Statement?

  I have a simple little code fragment that is frustrating me: HashSet<long> groupUIDs = new HashSet<long>(); groupUIDs.Add(uid)? unique++ : dupes++; At compile time, it generates the error: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement HashSet.Add is documented to return a bool, so the ternary (?) operator should work, and this looks like a completely legitimate way to track the number of unique and duplicate items I add to a hash-set. When I reformat it as a if-then-else, it works fine. Can anyone explain the error, and if there is a way to do this as a simple ternary operator?

  Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble with a Windows Service webbrowser object. It's attempting to load in values of username and password to a site but keeps failing and throwing the following error: System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid. at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.IHTMLDocument2.GetLocation() at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.get_Document() at MyWindowsService.MyDataProcessor.login() The code that I'm using to make this call is: MyWebBrowser.Document.All["Login"].SetAttribute("Value", username); MyWebBrowser.Document.All["Password"].SetAttribute("Value", password); MyWebBrowser.Document.All["submit"].InvokeMember("Click"); Any ideas as to why it keeps failing? • Breaking changes in .NET 4.0

  There is a lot of information about new features and classes in new 4.0 however there are also changes that may affect esixting applications, for example Timespan now implements IFormattable and old string.Format() with invalid options will throw exception instead of calling simple ToString(). However, CLR team provides a nice feature to enable behaviour from previous version with configuration setting - TimeSpan_LegacyFormatMode . CLR Inside Out Access to events inside the class where they are declared using += or -= will lead to call add/remove generated accessors that return void. Some code wan't even compile in 4.0. Chris Burrows Blog CAS is deprecated and to enable it one still need to use special setting in configuration - NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy So I wonder what are other changes and is it possible to find at least preliminary list of changes that will or may break existing functionality with release of .NET 4.0 ?

• jsonp is not firing beforeSend?

  Hi All, I am working on a project to call a webservice from different domain using $.ajax with dataType set to jsonp. $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: testService.asmx, async: true, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "jsonp", beforeSend: function (XMLHttpRequest) { alert('Before Send'); //Nothing happnes }, success: function (response) { alert('Success'); //this was fired }, complete: function (XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { alert('After Send'); //this was fired } }); The problem is I have a ...loading animation which I want to display while the web service request is being processed. I tried using "beforeSend:" to show the loading animation but it seems like "beforeSend" is not getting fired. The animation works fine when the app is on the same domain (using jsonp) but when I move the app into a different server, everything works except "beforeSend" is not getting called. So users will not be able to see the loading animation. Is there any workaround for this?

  Hello, I need to InterOp Win32 code (unmanaged Win32 DLL's and Exe) completely with .NET. I need to call Win32 unmanaged code(DLL exported functions) at runtime i.e (knowing the types of data types in Win32 signatures and need to pass data according to that type at runtime). This is 100% possible in case of COM. You can convert COM unmanaged code to managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe and use now reflection API to work with those managed types(actual were unmanaged types now converted managed using tlbimp). But same functionality I need to get in terms of Win32(i.e) in .NET framework. How?? I know MS provided Export table reading API ..but I couldn't find exact API for InterOp of Win32 unmanaged code Regards

• WebSharingAppDemo-CEProviderEndToEnd Queries peerProvider for NeedsScope before any files are batche

  I'm building an application based on the WebSharingAppDemo-CEProviderEndToEnd. When I deploy the server portion on a server, the code gives the error "The path is not valid. Check the directory for the database." during the call to NeedsScope() in the CeWebSyncService.cs file. Obviously the server can't access the client's sdf but what is supposed to happen to make this work? The app uses batching to send the data and the batches have to be marshalled across to the temp directory but this problem is occurring before any files have been batched over. There is nothing for the server to look at to determine whether the peerProivider needs scope. • PresentModalViewController problem.

  I have a new view controller on the iPhone which I call using the following line of code: [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:NO]; This works great if animation is on, but I am looking to have an instant switch. The problem is when I set animation to NO, the whole view shifts 20px to the right (it is always in landscape mode) as if there is a status bar but in portrait mode!? In this example the yellow space is the new view controller. I've tried this in a new project and the same thing happens. It may be a bug but does anyone have a fix? Thanks

  I am doing profiling of my Java application and found some interesting statistics for a jdbc PreparedStatement call: Given below is the environment details: Database: Sybase SQL Anywhere 10.0.1 Driver: com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver connection pool: c3p0 JRE: 1.6.0_05 The code in question is given below: try { ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setDouble(...); rs = ps.executeQuery(); ...... return xyz; } finally { try { if (rs != null) rs.close(); if (ps != null) ps.close(); } catch (SQLException sqlEx) { } } From JProfiler stats, I find that this particular resultspace.close() statement alone takes a large amount of time. It varies from 25 ms to 320s while for other code blocks which are of identical in nature, i find that this takes close to 20 microseconds. Just to be sure, I ran this performance test multiple times and confirmed this data. I am puzzled by this behaviour - Thoughts?

I'm using this to declare a function in Cython coming from cinterf.h header: cdef extern from 'cinterf.h': int xsb_init_string(char* p_xsb_path) The declaration in the C header file is: DllExport extern int call_conv xsb_init_string(char *); both DllExport and call_conv are macros defined elsewhere, and resolve to GCC compiler directives. do I have to use those as well inside cdef to fully match the declaration? When I call xsb_init_string() as: xsb_init_string('some string') The python interpreter gives me: 'ImportError: ./py_ext.so: undefined symbol: xsb_init_string' Am I declaring the xsb_init_string() signature properly, inside cdef?

• how to parse jquery ajax xhtml response?

  Sorry if this has been posted many times. But I've tried many variations and it still doesn't work. The HTML comes back from the jquery AJAX call fine and I am trying to remove the header and footers from the response using: // none of these work for me $("#content", data); $("#content", $(data)); $(data).find("#content").html() I've breakpoint the response to verify the #content exists by inspected $(data) and using alert to print out the data's text. I've also try using "body" or "a" as selectors, but it always come back as undefined. I've read in this post that you can't pull in the full XHTML document: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1050333/jquery-ajax-parse-response-text. But I can't find the answer's quote anymore, maybe it's outdated? Has anyone ran into this problem? Many thanks, Steve

I have this code so far, which I believe will properly implement the slice but whenever I do a call like v[4] where v is a vector python returns an error about not having enough parameters.   I'm trying to create a ggplot2 plot with the legend beneath the plot. The ggplot2 book says on p 112 "The position and justification of legends are controlled by the theme setting legend.position, and the value can be right, left, top, bottom, none (no legend), or a numeric position". The following code works (since "right" it is the default), and it also works with "none" as the legend position, but "left", "top", "bottom", all fail with "Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_setviewport", pvp, TRUE) : Non-finite location and/or size for viewport" library(ggplot2) (myDat <- data.frame(cbind(VarX=10:1, VarY=runif(10)), Descrip=sample(LETTERS[1:3], 10, replace=TRUE))) qplot(VarX,VarY, data=myDat, shape=Descrip) + opts(legend.position="right") What am I doing wrong? • EMail Signing (Outlook) Using Smartcard Minidriver [Windows]

  Hi I'm developing a Smart card Minidriver and I'm trying to Sign an Email using Outlook 2007. I have implemented all of the necessary functions in the minidriver. I'm able to create a "Smartcard User" certificate and save it and it's private key on the smartcard (using Microsoft Certificate Services via the Minidriver). When I try to sign an EMail via Outlook I'm getting Error Message (Internal Error), the last call to the minidriver is for ReadFile with "cmapfile" When I try to sign an EMail via Outlook with a difference non-smartcard certificate it's work fine. When I try to sign a Data using CryptoAPI (based on Windows SDK Sample) it's working fine. I'm using Windows 7. someone got any idea how to debug this issue? I tried to enable the CAPI2 eventlog, it don't give me any good information.
