• MySQL Workbench 5.2.43 GA released

  The MySQL developer tools team announces the availability of version 5.2.43 of the MySQL Workbench GUI tool. This version contains various fixes and minor enhancements and includes 53 resolved bugs. With this version, Fedora 15 packages are replaced with Fedora 17. Also, Gatekeeper in Mac OS X Mountain Lion is now properly handled. • IIS: redirect everything to another URL, except for one Directory

  I have an IIS server (IIS 6, Win 2003) that hosts the site http://www.foo.com. I want any request to http://foo.com (no matter what path/filename is used) to redirect to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html UNLESS the request is for http://www.foo.com/specialdir, in which case the HTML files in the local directory specialdir should be used. The problem I have is once the redirect is set it also affects /specialdir - even if I right click on that directory and select "content should come from ... local directory" that change does not take effect, and the directory still shows as redirecting to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html. The same thing happens if I try to set individual files to load from the local system instead of redirecting - IIS gives no error, but the change does not take effect and the files still show as being redirected. How can I set specialdir to override the redirection to the new URL?

  I have an asp.net mvc "edit" page which allows the user to make edits to the parent entity, and then also "create" child entities on the same page. One for Customer "edit" Http Posts, and the other for CustomerOrder "create" Http Posts. In the view page, I load the CustomerOrder "create" form in using: <div id="CustomerOrderCreate"> @Html.Partial("Vendor/_CustomerOrderCreatePartial", Model.CustomerOrderCreateViewModel) </div> The CustomerOrder html form action posts to a different controller HttpPost ActionResult than the Customer "edit" Action Result. My concern is this, on the CustomerOrder controller, in the HttpPost ActionResult [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(CustomerOrderCreateViewModel vm) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { return [What Do I Return Here] } ...[Persist to database code]... } I don't know what to return if the model state isn't valid. Right now it's not a problem, because jquery unobtrusive validation handles validation on the client. But what if I need more complex validation (ie: the server needs to handle the validation).

• Is it okay to showcase templates/layouts recreated in different codes in a portfolio?

  I have several different templates/layouts, both simple and complex. I recreated these templates multiple times, just using different codes. (Say, a complex one was originally made in only HTML and CSS, I recreated it using HTML, Javascript, CSS, then again with a HTML and PHP concoction, and etc.) I wanted to showcase my work and skills by doing this, but I don't know if it would be okay for that all to go into a resumé/portfolio. This is why: Freelancing Does potential business really care about how their site is made, as long as it looks and functions to their liking? (As in, should I just only show the one example of each template/layout and not the multiple recreations?) Potential Hire However, if a potential employer were to stumble across my resumé/portfolio, would having the multiple recreations do any good for a career outlook? (As in, this potential employer is a company where I could be working on a team to create/develop sites and not be freelancing; would a lack of skill-shining turn this employer away because I didn't set myself apart and show that I'm not just like every other budding web designer?) Those two issues have me wondering if it is okay to have a resumé/portfolio combined for this specific reason. Or does something like this not matter to potential business (as a freelancer) because they wouldn't care either way as long as it looks and functions to their liking and therefore it is okay to showcase the recreations with the originals?

One in "frontend" subnet and one in "backend" subnet. I can't see how do that.   Before patching scuttle or semanticscuttle I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of a lighter-weight/faster system to tag bookmarks and vote on them? LAMP is fine. Ideally, I should be allowed to interfere with the database directly. My actual problem is I want to administer roughly 80m bookmarks, tag them, vote on them (it's just 10 users accessing the system), but here's the thing: All of those bookmarks will change their descriptions (and title lines) at least once a day. Both systems support the del.icio.us API but my LAMP stack is unable to cope with the load.

• How to force or redirect to SSL in nginx?

  I have a signup page on a subdomain like: https://signup.mysite.com It should only be accessible via HTTPS but I'm worried people might somehow stumble upon it via HTTP and get a 404. My html/server block in nginx looks like this: html { server { listen 443; server_name signup.mysite.com; ssl on; ssl_certificate /path/to/my/cert; ssl_certificate_key /path/to/my/key; ssl_session_timeout 30m; location / { root /path/to/my/rails/app/public; index index.html; passenger_enabled on; } } } What can I add so that people who go to http://signup.mysite.com get redirected to https://signup.mysite.com ? • Have you Been Missing the 'About This Record' Functionality on the Customer Form...?

  Do you have fond memories of the 'Help -> About This Record'  functionality that used to be available in the old Customer form - when it was a form, and not a java html screen?  Back in Release 11i, we had the ability to identify when the customer record had last been updated and by whom.  When some forms were replaced by Java HTML screens, you could identify some of this information via the 'About this Page' hyperlink at the bottom left hand corner of the HTML page.  You could enable this by enabling the FND: Diagnostics profile option, but many customers found this had an adverse effect on performance and additionally was not user-friendly.   Our customers tell us that this feature was widely used to identify owner/update information in many business processes, including auditing, customer entry/update, research and testing.  There have been various efforts to revert this feature by customising java pages, but this was not fully successful in some cases.  Oracle Support is happy to announce that this functionality has now been included in the Customer screens in Release 12.2 onwards.   You will be able to query the record history at customer level, at site level, at site address levels and for all tabs relating to the customer. Simply click on the 'Record History' icon, available in the Record History column on a summary screen, or via the same icon on the individual detail screen to display the following information: Last Updated Date: Last Updated By Creation Date Created By Last Update Login

  Many of my blog posts (from http://techwayz.com) ranked on 1st or the 2nd page of Google search results . After i changed my WordPress theme , rankings of those posts dropped dramatically .I had accidentally kept the theme's inbuilt SEO modules enabled along with the yoast plugin . Now , i've disabled the theme's inbuilt SEO modules . When checked the html of one of my posts with the theme's inbuilt SEO modules enabled , i discovered duplicate meta description tags in which one tag had the blogs description and the other tag had the posts description.Was it the reason for the drop in rankings or there are some other reasons? Please help -Pramod

  I need to print a pdf by opening it in a new window. I've looked at tutorials for days, but nothing is working. • URL is generating a /#!/splash-page

  My site for some reason is generating a shebang - /#!/splash-page on the URL. For example when I type www.modernvintage1005.com, the browser returns www.modernvintage1005.com/#!/splash-page and every subsequent page is /#!/about, /#!/contact, and so forth. There's absolutely nothing on the Google about this. There is a lot of rewrite help to eliminate .index.php from the home page, but that's it. How do I rewrite it to just say domain.com and domain.com/about.html, etc.?   I am trying to use Selenium RC but i keep getting this error whenever i start the server. "HTML suite exception seen: java.lang.RuntimeException: sessionId 7643 doesn't exist; perhaps this session w as already stopped?" The command I use is java -jar C:\selenium-remote-control-1.0.3\selenium-server-1.0.3\selenium-server.jar -multiwindow -htmlSuite "*iexplore" "https://user1.apps.com/" "C:\TEMP\Selenium Tests\TestSuite1.html" "C:\TEMP\Selenium Tests\results.html" However with the same command if I change *iexplore to *firefox then it works. • What's a good tool for checking from my own machine that my server is up?

  I'm looking for a good tool (web site or not) that I can use to do a simple check whether my web server is accessible from outside LAN (it's serving in a non-standard port). To give some context, I've gone through this problem: can't access my ip from outside. Even the tools I've found are not really working. • Non-dynamic CMS [closed]

  Some of the web sites I visit every day (news, sports, etc..), although the content changes very often (several times per day), the URLs always have .html extension, what makes me thing that the content has been generated once, and then published as a static page, rather than generated in every call, or even cached in memory. For example, the fictitious site "mysports.com" have a "futbol.html" page, and then yesterday Messi gets injured and they have another thing to put in that page, then I presume they post the new item in their CMS system, and automatically a publishing action is triggered aftewards that recreates "futbol.html" in a CDN with the new item and probably discard the oldest one. Then the ETag changes and clients will get the new page if they try to access it. (the site is fictitious but this is what I believe happened yesterday in the sports site I read) This would fit in the CQRS approach, and I presume they have a huge performance. I know lots of CMS (WP, Drupal, BlogEngine.net, DNN, etc...), but I have never seen any able of doing this, or at least, I was not aware this feautre. How are called those distributed CMS? Which are the most well known? Cheers.

• Is there a program to manage movies and TV shows that supports mp4 tags?

  I'm looking for a media manager that will display and play movies and TV shows and will read data included in mp4 and m4v files. So far I've looked at XBMC, Moovida and Boxee and all of these seem to keep their own separate database or XML files for reading and storing tag information. I also looked at Banshee because of this answer, but it didn't read my tags. Banshee is also geared towards music videos instead of actual movies and TV shows. So I'm looking for software that Displays and plays movies and TV Shows Reads mp4 and m4v tags Preferably something with bulk import (i.e., I don't want to add 1,000 items to a new library) Bonus if it also has a tag editor Bonus if it's an XBMC extension

As you can see I have a button1 on my form. When I click it I want it to display to me the structure of the table I selected in my treeview (a treeview node). Not too many details, just the name of the columns in my table, type of columns, primary keys. I've tried to follow many tutorials but I can t seem to manage it.

• Is it possible to view Facebook news feeds page by page rather than loading it all as I scroll?

  If you want to scroll through your Facebook news feed (be it on the main feed, your personal feed, or in groups) to older parts, you have to scroll to the bottom, wait for the ajax load of the next part of the feed, and repeat. The problem with this is that, if you're scrolling down very far, the HTML document just gets bigger and bigger until your browser starts to die due to the overload of resources brought on by added HTML, text, and even images. This pretty much sets a limit to how far back you can scroll. Clicking on months and years on your personal feed has the same effect of cumulatively adding feed segments to the HTML document. I notice that this month/year feature is not available on the main feed and for groups. If there were a way to literally page through the feed so that only a single page's worth of feed data is loaded at a time, that would make scrolling through it much more doable.

• Windows Phone 7, taking the mobile out of mobile

  I’ll start off this blog entry with a little background which is necessary for you to understand my situation. I moved from to the UK to Germany about three years ago and while I can converse in German, English is still very much my first language and the language I want my content delivered in. I happily purchased a HTC HD7 when WP7 was released here in Germany thinking foolishly that Microsoft really would get internationalization and localization as it’s at the heart of their business and developer products. Overall I’m very happy with my WP7, the camera sucks but that’s more HTC’s fault that Microsoft, but other than that it’s a very promising platform. My problems started when I purchased my first app. Initially everything appeared to be fine and things were as smooth as things had been with my previous free applications, however about a month after I received an email from Zune informing me that the credit card that they had registered against my account had expired. No problem I foolishly thought; I’ll simply add a new one. I don’t want to bore you with the details of what I’ve been through other than to take the low-lights: trying numerous websites, posts on Microsoft Answers and a tweet to Microsoft Support all to no avail. Today somebody suggested that I call the Xbox support line in the UK as they had solved their billing problems this way. So I called up the Xbox support line since I hadn’t resolved the problem using the Zune portal to resolve my problem with my WP7 (anybody else thinks Microsoft might need some consolidation here). After being on the phone with a very friendly representative in Ireland I was informed that because my British credit card has a billing address in Germany they are unable to accept it as a credit card. Because my Live ID and Zune Tag are registered in the UK they cannot take my card. Their solution is that I have to create a new Zune Tag that has its locale in Germany and then associate it with my phone. Now, first thing I go to register for a Zune Tag with a German locale it very kindly switches into German for me, nothing quite like reading a EULA in a language you’re not fluent in. I’ve no idea how this will affect the apps that are available to me in the app store, and I’m pretty sure it means that all my Xbox live achievements will become history. And what if I was to move to say France at some point do I have to go through all this again? At the end of the day I’m trying to set something up so I can give them my money and they’re making it VERY difficult for me. Could you imagine walking into a book store when you were on holiday and being told by the clerk that they couldn’t take your credit card because you came from another country?

  I'm running Apache on a Windows machine for local testing and I'm new to it. Currently, if I navigate to localhost/ in a web browser, it will display an index.html page if one exists. Otherwise, it will display the directory listing. How can I make it so that navigating to a root directory will display more than index.html? What I need is so that if either: index.html, index.htm, or index.php exist, it will navigate to one of those. How can I disable showing directory roots? I would like it to return a 403 Forbidden error if no index page exists.

• GCM: onMessage() from GCMIntentService is never called [migrated]

  I am implementing GCM (Google Cloud Messaging- PUSH Notifications) in my application. I have followed all the steps given in GCM tutorial from developer.android.com My application's build target is pointing to Goolge API 8 (Android 2.2 version). I am able to get the register ID from GCM successfully, and I am passing this ID to my application server. So the registration step is performed successfully. Now when my application server sends a PUSH message to my device, the server gets the message as SUCCESS=1 FAILURE=0, etc., i.e. Server is sending message successfully, but my device never receives the message. After searching alot about this, I came to know that GCM pushes messages on port number 5228, 5229 or 5230. Initially, my device and laptop was restricted for some websites, but then I was granted all the permissions to access all websites, so I guess these port numbers are open for my device. So my question is: I never receive any PUSH message from GCM. My onMessage() from GCMIntenService class is never called. What could be the reason? (do all these step in VWD or VS 13 whatever you use for work) inside the tag of  system.web.webPages.razor you will find the tag  namespaces which contain too many namespace which shown in intellisense when you work in Views inside your Visual studio.   now  add line like this   <add namespace="MyCustomDll" /> MyCustomDll is a namespace that came from library that I want to use in my views.
