• Good way to deal with comma seperated values in oracle

  I am getting passed comma seperated values to a stored procedure in oracle. I want to treat these values as a table so that I can use them in a query like: select * from tabl_a where column_b in (<csv values passed in>) What is the best way to do this in 11g? Right now we are looping through these one by one and inserting them into a gtt which I think is ineffecient. Any pointers?

  I'm making a tool to track calls to house/senate reps, and I have 2 tables of importance here: reps rep_id rep_name # and more info comments rep_id status # enum about result of contact comment I want to query for all reps joining the most recent associated comments and in some cases joining comments of a specific status, but there might not be any comments associated with that rep yet.   Hello everyone, I am using Linq-to-Sql for a C# application and am currently working on some stored procedures. The application is for a newspaper, and a sample stored procedure is the following: ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.Articles_GetArticlesByPublication @publicationDate date AS SELECT * FROM Articles WHERE Articles.PublicationDate=@publicationDate Anyway, this query gets all of the articles where the publication date is equal to the argument (publicationDate). How can I alter this so that the argument can handle multiple publication dates? Also, I'd prefer not to use "BETWEEN," rather, I want to pick and choose dates.

  I have recently installed Team Explorer on one of my machines that has Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed. But know whenever I click a work item or trying to open a team query I get the following error: Could not load type 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.WorkItemTypeDeniedOrNotExistException' from assembly 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' I even repaired the installation of Team Explorer 2008 but it does not solve my problem. Does anybody know how can I get rid of this error? Thanks.

  Hi, Can I use Linq-to-xml to persist my object state without having to use/know Xpath & XSD Syntax? ie. really looking for simple but flexible way to persist a graph of object data (e.g. have say 2 or 3 classes with associations) - if Linq-to-xml were as simple as saying "persist this graph to XML", and then you could also query it via Linq, or load it into memory again/change/then re-save to the xml file.

  Does anyone knows if removing the field names from an INSERT query results in some performance improvements? I mean is this: INSERT INTO table1 VALUES (value1, value2, ...) faster for DB to be accomplished rather than doing this: INSERT INTO table1 (field1, field2, ...) VALUES (value1, value2, ...) ? I know it might be probably a meaningless performance difference, but just to know.

  I have a large table (300 million lines) that I would like to dump to a csv - I need to do some processing that cannot be done with SQL. Right now I am using Squirrel as a client, and it does not apparently deal very well with large datasets - at least as far as I can tell from my own (limited) experience. If I run the query on the actual host, will it use less memory? Thanks for any help.

  I have a simple model named Foo. Foo has two columns, bar and foobar. Doing a simple Foo.find_by_bar("a") is returning nil. There is a record in the table where bar contains a. Also, what's even more troubling, is I don't see the query even happening in the development log. A simple Foo.find(1) works though.

  I am trying to read the Excel Named range using OLEDB using the below code "Select * from [MyNamedRange1]" everything works fine only when the source excel sheet is not opened if it is open then i am not able to read the range names using OLEDB it simply hangs Where as i am able to execute the query "Select * from [Sheet1$]" even if the workbook is open or closed... Any work arounds for reading the range by OLEDB only i dont want to go for interop... I have too many ranges defined in the excel file

  I would like to perform a SQL XML insert (on MSSQL), and in this case I need to insert a list of files into the DB (this is simple enough). However, there's an auto generated PK column (ID), and I need the ID for each newly created filename without performing a 2nd query. Is this possible? I guess it doesn't matter if the result is/isn't XML, but the input certainly has to be.

  I've found out the hard way that my website can be hacked by passing a query string parameter that has many ../s to access files outside of the website directory, and then screw with the website. Is there a way, perhaps through the php.ini, to not allow file includes outside of a certain root directory?
