• OSS4 on Debian Squeeze

  Hi, I am trying to get OSS4 to work on a Debian Squeeze 64 bit machine with an usb sound adapter. There is no sound from this adapter at the present, although it worked just before on the previous installation.   I'm looking for a hard drive, and some of the conditions are listed as "New Pull" or "System Pull". I figure the System Pull means "taken from a computer and now sold separately" but what does New Pull mean? Does this mean it was assembled and never used? Or maybe it has been freshly pulled from a used machine?

• Silverlight DataStateBehavior, initial value not used

  Hi, I am trying to use the Silverlight DataStateBehavior, it works fine in most cases where I click a button which sets say a 'Selected' Property in the view model to either false or true. The DataStateBehavior then tells the VisualStateManager to go to the relevant state. Like this: <Button...> <i:Interaction.Behaviors> <id:DataStateBehavior Binding="{Binding Selected}" Value="True" TrueState="SelectedVisualState" FalseState="DeselectedVisualState"/> </i:Interaction.Behaviors> </Button> The above works fine. What I am trying to do though is to get it to set the correct state when the application loads, if I were to set the 'Selected' property on the view model to true by default I wouldn't see any changes in the UI until I clicked the button to change the viewmodel property.   I am trying to add an "KeyPress" event in a textbox (WinForm) this.textBox1.KeyPress += new System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventHandler(CheckKeys); and here's inside the 'CheckKeys': private void CheckKeys(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs e) { if (e.KeyChar == (char)13) { // Enter is pressed - do something } } The idea here is that once a textbox is in focus and the 'Enter' button was pressed, something will happen... However, my machine cannot find the 'KeyPress' event. Is there something wrong with my codes?   The full error is as follows: The type 'System.Windows.Forms.Control' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. and it points at the very first statement (an Debug.Assert line) in the very first class in a library project that doesn't need System.Windows.Forms (or so I thought). I know how to solve it: add the mentioned reference. But how do I find out what library is causing this error, or better, what part of the code triggers using the WinForms library? Normally, you can add libraries that reference others, but you only need to add references to these others when they're actually used. EDIT: Alternative solution This or similar problems can also be resolved using the Binding Log Viewer Fuslogvw.exe from Microsoft's Framework Tools. It shows all attempts and successes of assemblies your application binds to.

  I was writing a console driver for linux and I came across the tty interface that I need to set up for this driver. I got confused as to how tty drivers are bound with low-level drivers. Many times the root file system already contains a lot of tty devices. I am wondering how low-level devices can bind to one of the existing tty nodes on the root file system. For example, /dev/tty7 : Node on the root file system. How does a low-level device driver connect with this node? Or should that low-level device define a completely new tty device?

  I’ve just enabled config transformations on a .NET 3.5 project in VS2010 RC after watching Scott Hanselman’s video on web deployment. Unfortunately every time I go to publish I now get the following error: The "TransformXml" task failed unexpectedly.   I've tried wrapping my <system.web> with <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> like this <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> <system.web>...</system.web> </location> But VS 2010 Web Developer Express keeps saying "The 'InheritInChildApplications' attribute is not allowed" and when I run my web app there's an error: "HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid." Config Error Unrecognized attribute 'InheritInChildApplications'. I've seen some smartguys all over the Internet discussing this and how it is working for them but there's much larger number of people here at SO and other places that did not get this to work. • Problem during RIA authentication

  Hi I've built an authentication service in RIA that inherits from DomainService and IAuthenticate. The problem is following: When LoginOperation fails (loginOperation.LoginSuccess is false) due to wrong credentials, everything is ok and it is reported to the user. However, when login succeeds, I get throw a really weird exception: {System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client.DomainOperationException: Load operation failed for query 'Login'. Value cannot be null. Parameter name: validationErrors --- System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: validationErrors at System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client.QueryCompletedResult..ctor(IEnumerable1 entities, IEnumerable1 includedEntities, Int32 totalCount, IEnumerable`1 validationErrors) I don't really understand this. What is IEnumerable validationErrors, where does it appear and why does it have to be != null ? This started happening after I ported my authentication services from Nhibernate to Entity Framework. I've even tried googling this exception and apparently I'm the only one with this problem so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I've created a Wcf Service to back a Ajax page (.Net 3.5). It's hosted in IIS 6.1 Integrated Pipeline. (The rest of Autofac is setup correctly for Web Forms integration). Everything works fine and dandy with the normal Wcf pipeline.   We have to run a process from a windows service and get a screenshot from it. We tried the BitBlt and PrintWindow Win32 calls, but both give blank (black) bitmaps. If we run our code from a normal user process, it works just fine. Is this something that is even possible? Or could there be another method to try? Things we tried: Windows service running as Local System, runs process as Local System - screenshot fails Windows service running as Administrator, runs process as Administrator - screenshot fails. Windows application running as user XYZ, runs a process as XYZ - screenshot works with both BitBlt or PrintWindow. Tried checking "Allow service to interact with desktop" from Local System We also noticed that PrintWindow works better for our case, it works if the window is behind another window. For other requirements, both the parent and child processes must be under the same user. We can't really use impersonation from one process to another.
