  • Windows can see Ubuntu Server printer, but can't print to it

    I have an old desktop that I'm trying to set up as a home backup/print server. Backup was trivial, but am having issues getting the printing to work. The printer is connected to the server running Ubuntu Server 9.10 (no gui). If I access the printer via http://hostname:631/printers/, I am able to print a test page, so I know the printer is working; however, I am having no luck from Windows. Windows can see the printer when browsed via \hostname\, but I am unable to connect. Windows says "Windows cannot connect to the printer" without indicating why. Any suggestions?   • Samba with remote LDAP authentication doesn`t see users properly

  • I created a custom (WPF) DataGridBoundColumn and get unexpected behaviour, what am I missing?

    Hi, I am using a DataGrid (from Microsoft.Windows.Controls.DataGrid) to display items on and on this DataGrid I use a custom Column which extends DataGridBoundColumn. I have bound an ObservableCollection to the ItemSource of the DataGrid. Conversation is one of my own custom datatypes which a (among other things) has a boolean called active. I bound this boolean to the DataGrid as follows: DataGridActiveImageColumn test = new DataGridActiveImageColumn(); test.Header = "Active"; Binding binding1 = new Binding("Active"); test.Binding = binding1; ConversationsDataGrid.Columns.Add(test); My custom DataGridBoundColumn DataGridActiveImageColumn overrides the GenerateElement method to let it return an Image depending on whether the conversation it is called for is active or not. However: When there are more entries on the DataGrid then fit at any one time (and vertical scrollbars are added) the behavior with respect to the column for all the conversations is strange. The conversations that are initially loaded are correct, but when I use the scrollbar of the DataGrid conversations that enter the view seems to have a random status (although more inactive than active ones, which corresponds to the actual ratio). When I scroll back up, the active images of the Conversations initially shown (before scrolling) are not correct anymore as well. When I replace my custom DataGridBoundColumn class with (for instance) DataGridCheckBoxColumn it works as intended so my extension of the DataGridBoundColumn class must be incomplete. Personally I think it has something to do with the following: From the MSDN page on the GenerateElement method (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.datagridcolumn.generateelement%28VS.95%29.aspx): Return Value Type: System.Windows. FrameworkElement A new, read-only element that is bound to the column's Binding property value. I do return a new element (the image) but it is not bound to anything. I am not quite sure what I should do. Should I bind the Image to something? To what exactly? And why? (I have been experimenting, but was unsuccessful thus far, hence this post) Thanks in advance.

  • Propel Single Table Inheritance Issue

    I have a table called "talk", which is defined as abstract in my schema.xml file. It generates 4 objects (1 per classkey): Comment, Rating, Review, Checkin It also generates TalkPeer, but I couldn't get it to generate the other 4 peers (CommentPeer, RatingPeer, ReviewPeer, CheckinPeer), so I created them by hand, and made them inherit from TalkPeer.php, which inherits from BaseTalkPeer. I then implemented getOMClass() in each of those peers. The problem is that when I do queries using the 4 peers, they return all 4 types of objects. That is, ReviewPeer will return Visits, Ratings, Comments, AND Reviews. Example: $c = new Criteria(); $c->add(RatingPeer::VALUE, 5, Criteria::GREATER_THAN); $positive_ratings = RatingPeer::doSelect($c); This returns all comments, ratings, reviews, & checkins that have a value 5. ReviewPeer should only return Review objects, and can't figure out how to do this. Do I actually have to go through and change all my criteria to manually specify the classkey? That seems a little pointless, since the Peer name already distinct. I don't want to have to customize each Peer. I should be able to customize JUST the TalkPeer, since they all inherit from it... I just can't figure out how. I tried changing doSelectStmt just in TalkPeer so that it automatically adds the CLASSKEY restriction to the Criteria. It almost works, but I get a: Fatal error: Cannot instantiate abstract class Talk in /models/om/BaseTalkPeer.php on line 503. Line 503 is in BaseTalkPeer::populateObjects(), and is the 3rd line below: $cls = TalkPeer::getOMClass($row, 0); $cls = substr('.'.$cls, strrpos('.'.$cls, '.') + 1); $obj = new $cls(); The docs talked about overriding BaseTalkPeer::populateObject(). I have a feeling that's my problem, but even after reading the source code, I still couldn't figure out how to get it to work.   • Vertical textes inside of table headers with respect of a JavaScript based on SVG library

    I use jqGrid with many columns contains Boolean information, which are displayed as checkboxes inside of table (see http://www.ok-soft-gmbh.com/VerticalHeaders/TestFixedO.htm as an example). To display information more compact I use vertical column headers. It works very well and works in jqGrid in all browsers (see my discussion with Tony Tomov in jqGrid forum http://www.trirand.com/blog/?page_id=393/feature-request/headers-with-vertical-orientation/), but in IE vertical texts looks not nice enough. I was asked from users why the texted displayed so strange. So I think about using a JavaScript based SVG library like SVG Web ( http://code.google.com/p/svgweb/ ) or Raphaël ( http://raphaeljs.com/ ). SVG is very powerful and it is difficult to find a good example is not very easy. I need only display vertical texts (-90 grad, from bottom to up) and use if possible without working in mode of absolute position. So one more times my question: I need have a possibility to display vertical texts (-90 grad rotation) inside of <td> element of table header. I want use a JavaScript based SVG library like SVG Web or Raphaël. The solution must support on IE6. Have somebody a good reference to example which could help me to do this? If somebody post a whole solution of the problem I would be happy. A word search, as defined by Wikipedia, is: A word search, word find, word seek, word sleuth or mystery word puzzle is a word game that is letters of a word in a grid, that usually has a rectangular or square shape. The objective of this puzzle is to find and mark all the words hidden inside the box. The words may be horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Often a list of the hidden words is provided, but more challenging puzzles may let the player figure them out. Many word search puzzles have a theme to which all the hidden words are related. The word searches for this challenge will all be rectangular grids with a list of words to find provided. The words can be written vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Input/Output The user inputs their word search and then inputs a word to be found in their grid. These two inputs are passed to the function that you will be writing.   • WPF: Updating visibility of controls not updating the screen

    I will preface this by stating that I am new to WPF programming and may be making multiple errors. Any insight that can be provided to help me improve in my skills are greatly appreciated. I am working with a WPF application and am looping through a list of objects that contain properties that describe a document that should be built on the fly and automatically printed. I am attempting to display a small grid in the interface that shows the document being built before it is printed. This serves two purposes: one, it allows the user to see work being done by the application. Two, it renders the items on the screen so that I can then have something to actually print since WPF appears to not be able to load an image for printing dynamicaly without displaying it on the screen. In my code, I am setting the various elements in the grid and setting the visibility to visible. However, the UI is not updating and the printed document doesn't look as intended since the image never shows up on the screen. Basically it builds a visual element for a page, prints an XPS version of it and then builds the next page and prints it, etc. Once all pages have been processed, the job is actually sent to the printer. The only purpose of this application is to let the user print these documents so there is not other task that they can do in the application while the documents print. I thought that putting this task in a background thread would help to update the UI but since I am trying to manipulate items directly on the UI thread it would appear that this option won't work for me. What am I doing wrong here and how can I improve the code so that I can get the behavior that I am trying to achieve?

  • How can I anchor a textbox in wpf ?

    I have a window with tabs. On one of the tabs, I have a layout like below. (In fact it is more complicated, I have 4 text boxes in a row, and I have more rows.) How can I make the 3rd textbox have the width of the label + the width of the text box above, that is, to have them properly aligned ? The problem is that WPF widens the 3rd textbox, when I type text into it. Using hardcoded numbers for the sizes defeats the whole purpose of WPF. I could do that way 10 times faster in Windows Forms than in WPF.     Hi, is there a way to configure hibernate3-maven-plugin so that a sequence generator is detected for a primary-key? I'm using a bottom-up approach for hibernate configuration (which means letting hibernate-tools generate the hibernate configuration using a jdbc-connection for you via reverse-engineering on an existing database schema). I've read this, but also this already (those two can be unrelated, but can also leave a hint).     I'm trying to get a UserControl to tab properly and am baffled. The logical tree looks like this. |-Window -Grid -TabControl -TabItem -StackPanel -MyUserControl |-StackPanel -GroupBox -Grid -ComboBox -Textbox1 -Textbox2 Everything works fine, except when the visibility converter for the ComboBox returns Visibility.Collapsed (don't allow user to change database mode), then when textbox1 is selected, instead of being able to tab through the controls in the UserControl, the focus shifts to a button declared at the bottom of the window. Nothing else apart from the controls displayed has TabIndex or FocusManager properties set. I'm banging my head against a brick wall and I must be missing something.   • LinkButtons Created Dynamically in a Repeater Don't Fire ItemCommand Event

    Hi. I've got a repeater that's used to display the output of a dynamic report that takes criteria from webcontrols on the page. Within the repeater's ItemDataBound method I'm adding controls (Linkbuttons for sorting by column values) dynamically to the header of the repeater based on values selected in a checkbox list and at this point setting the CommandArgument and CommandName properties of the linkbuttons. The issue is that when the linkbuttons are clicked they don't fire the ItemCommand event although they are clearly being correctly created and added to the header (there is some additional code to set the cssClass, text etc. and this works as expected.) The first column header in the repeater is set in the markup and the itemcommand event fires correctly on this one only. When the other column headers are clicked the repeater rebinds as programmed, but the columns are not dynamically re-generated.   • DataTrigger inside ControlTemplate doesn't update

    I have a ListBox that is bound to a list of CustomerViewModel-objects, that each has two dependency properties: - Name (string) - Description (string) - IsVisible (bool) (the IsVisible property is True by default and is reversed via the ToggleVisibility Command on the CustomerViewModel) I would like to display the Name and Description to the right of a Border-control, that is has a Transparent background when the IsVisible property is True and Green when the False. My problem is that the DataTrigger part of the code below doesn't work the way I want, because the Setter-part isn't triggered when the IsVisible is changed. What am I doing wrong?   • How to save a large nhibernate collection without causing OutOfMemoryException

    How do I save a large collection with NHibernate which has elements that surpass the amount of memory allowed for the process? I am trying to save a Video object with nhibernate which has a large number of Screenshots (see below for code). Each Screenshot contains a byte[], so after nhibernate tries to save 10,000 or so records at once, an OutOfMemoryException is thrown. Normally I would try to break up the save and flush the session after every 500 or so records, but in this case, I need to save the collection because it automatically saves the SortOrder and VideoId for me (without the Screenshot having to know that it was a part of a Video). What is the best approach given my situation? Is there a way to break up this save without forcing the Screenshot to have knowledge of its parent Video?     I'm fairly new to NHibernate, and I need to ask a couple of questions relating to a very frequent scenario. The following simplified example illustrates the problem. I have two tables named Equipment and Users. Users is a set of system administrators. Equipment is a set of machinery. Tables: Users table has UserId int and LoginName nvarchar(64). Equipment table has EquipId int, EquipType nvarchar(64), UpdatedBy int. Behavior: System administrators can make changes to Equipment, and when they do, the UpdatedBy field of Equipment is "normally" set to their User Id. Users can be deleted at any time. New Equipment items have an UpdatedBy value of null. There's no foreign key constraint on Equipment.UpdatedBy which means: Equipment.UpdatedBy can be null. Equipment.UpdatedBy value can be = existing User.UserId value Equipment.UpdatedBy value can be = non-existent User.UserId value To find Equipment and who last updated the Equipment, I might query like this: select E.EquipId, E.EquipName, U.UserId, U.LoginName from Equipment E left outer join Users U on. E.UpdatedBy = U.UserId Simple enough. So how to do that in NHibernate?     Hi there, I'm working on a SQL CE Database and get into the "Row nor found or changed" exception. The exception only occurs when I try to update. On the first Run after the insert it shows up a MemberChangeConflict which says, that my Column Created_at has in all three values (current, original, database) the same. But in a second attempt it doesn't appear anymore. The DataContext is instanciated on Startup and freed on Exit of my Local(!) Application. I use a sqlmetal generated mapping and code file. In the map I added some Associations and set the timemstamp columns UpdateCheck property to Always while all other have the setting never. The Timestamp Column is marked as isVersion="true", the Id Column as Primary Key. Since I don't dispose the datacontext I expected to be using implicit transaction. When I run the SubmitChanges Method within a TransactionScope. Can anyone tell me how I can update the timestamp within the code ? I know about the Problems one has to deal with if you dispose the datacontext. So I decided not to do this since I use a Single User Local DB Cache File. (I did already use a version where I disposed the datacontext after every usage, but this version had a real bad performance and error rate, so I decided to choose the other variant.)   • JPA IndirectSet changes not reflected in Spring frontend

    I'm having an issue with Spring JPA and IndirectSets. I have two entities, Parent and Child, defined below. I have a Spring form in which I'm trying to create a new Child and link it to an existing Parent, then have everything reflected in the database and in the web interface. What's happening is that it gets put into the database, but the UI doesn't seem to agree. Now, the problem is that when I edit those simple properties from my Spring interface, everything works beautifully. I can persist new entities of these types and they'll appear when using the JPATemplate to do a find on, say, all Parents (getJpaTemplate().find("select p from Parent p")) or on individual entities by ID or another property. The problem I'm running into is that now, I'm trying to create a new Child linked to an existing Parent through a link from the Parent's page. When it gets back to the controller, it goes through and saves it to the underlying database, but the interface never reflects it. Once I restart the app, it's all there and populated appropriately. What can I do to clear this up? I've tried to call extra merges, tried refreshes (which gave a transaction exception), everything short of just writing my own database access code. I've made sure that every class has an appropriate equals() and hashCode(), have full JPA debugging on to see that it's making appropriate SQL calls (it doesn't seem to make any new calls to the Child table) and stepped through in the debugger (it's all in IndirectSets, as expected, and between saving and displaying the Parent the object takes on a new memory address). What's my next step?

If I put my cursor on the con:Day line of the XAML it'll highlight the correctly sized rectangle in the window but I don't see "Mon" on the left side of the rectangle and "1" on the right. What am I doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple but I'll be darned if I'm seeing it. My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The transaction table in my database has a not null constraint on the OrderId foreign key. There is no need for my transaction objects to reference their order object directly (I just need to access the transactions of an order).
