• Classic ASP - Email form with attached file - please help

  Hi Guys, Ive got abit of a problem ive got an email web form that send the input to an email address but what I now need is a file input field were the user can also send an image as an attachment. So contact name, logo (attachment). Ive been told in order to send the attachment it needs to be saved in a folder on my hosting before it can be sent. Ive spoken to the hosting company and they dont have anything in place to make this easier such as aspupload. • In browser trusted application Silverlight 5

  With the new Silverlight 5, we can now have a In-Browser elevated-trust application. However, I'm experiencing some problems to deploy the application. When I am testing the application from Visual Studio, everything works fine because it automatically gives every right if the website is hosted on the local machine (localhost, 127.0.0.1). I saw on MSDN that I have to follow 3 steps to make it work on any website: Signed the XAP - I did it following the Microsoft tutorial Install the Trusted publishers certificate store - I did it too following the Microsoft Tutorial Adding a Registry key with the value : AllowElevatedTrustAppsInBrowser. The third step is the one I am the most unsure about. Do we need to add this registry key on the local machine or on the server ? Is there any automatic function in silverlight to add this key or its better to make a batchfile? Even with those 3 steps, the application is still not working when called from another url than localhost. Does anybody has successfully implemented a In-browser elevated-trust application? • How can I work around WinXP using ports 1025-5000 as ephemeral?

  If you create a TCP client socket with port 0 instead of a non-zero port, then the operating system chooses any free ephemeral port for you. Most OSes choose ephemeral ports from the IANA dynamic port range of 49152-65535. However in Windows Server 2003 and earlier (including XP) Microsoft used ports 1025-5000 as the ephemeral range, according to their bind() documentation. I run multiple Java services on the same hardware. On rare occasions, this range collides with well-known ports that I use for other services (e.g. port 4160 for Jini discovery). While rare, this has caused real problems. Is there any easy way to tell Windows or Java to use a different port range for client sockets? Microsoft's docs indicate that I can change the high end of that range via the MaxUserPort TcpIP registry setting, but I see no way to change the low end. Update: I've made some progress on this. It looks like Microsoft has a concept of reserved ports that are exceptions to the ephemeral port range. There's a registry setting that lets you change this permanently and apparently there must be an API to do the same thing because there's a data structure that holds high/low values for reserved port ranges, but I can't find the actual function call anywhere... The registry solution may work, but now I'm fixated on this API.

  What is the Best practice of dynamic changing password for this scenario? The scenario is: There are three web apps using ASP.NET. App1 checks the passwords of app2/app3 to authenticate the identity, and if app2/app3 is authenticated then app1 is allowed to receive information from App2 and App3. And app1 has to change the passwords of app2/app3 every two hour for security reason. Is it possible that there is a way to implement this scenario without app1 saving the passwords of app2/app3 for security reason? Or is there any best practice for dynamic changing password scenario?

• Super user powers in development environment?

  Is it too much to ask for when I ask the IT department to give my development team an environment where we can use whatever software that we can download without having to have security check those tools? Of course, the software can be checked by security before deploying to Test, and the development environment can be on a VLAN that is not accessible from outside. This would greatly aid us by allowing us to use whatever open-source testing tools that we want. I'm asking because we have such tight restrictions on the software approval process, and I hear of other teams that have an environment where they can configure their local server however they want and they can use whatever tools they want. What's the norm out there? Thank you for any comments!

• WPF WebBrowser, unable to run Javascript and applet in Popups windows

  Hello All, I have a desktop application that has a control with a WebBrowser control inside. Everything works fine except with Siebel CMR popups. When it opens a new popup , Siebel tries to load an applet in the popup window but it doesn't work , it works fine in the main browser. This works perfectly with IE also. It seems to be related to some security setting but i am quite lost. Does anyone know if there is any way to modify or check the security when a new popup is opened? Thanks in advance! Fede

• ReportServer 2005 Custom Assembly Error

  We have a reportserver on sql server 2005, it has previously been working on computer X which we are replacing with a computer Y. Computer X only had one default sql instance as our test environment, machine Y is a new machine with 2 sql instances, Y\TEST and Y\DEV. Both machines run Windows Server 2003 and Both have Sql Server 2005 installed together with Report Server We have not currently done any work on the DEV instance, just on the TEST instance. The reportserver is installed for TEST. SSRS previously worked as intended on X machine, and on Y\TEST its working for reports not using any custom code. However for some of the reports we are loading a custom assembly Localization. This assembly currently exists in following folders on server: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin Also in rssrvpolicy.config, the entry for Report_Expressions_Default_Permissions has been changed from Execution to FullTrust (Although this was not necessary on the machine X). When attempting to upload the rdl files through the web interface, we get the following errors: Error while loading code module: ‘Localization, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e302ddd55ecd694a’. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Localization, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e302ddd55ecd694a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (rsErrorLoadingCodeModule) Get Online Help There is an error on line 14 of custom code: [BC30451] Name 'Localization' is not declared. • Setting processor affinity on CSC.exe launched by CoreCompile MSBuild Task

  I am wondering if there is simple way to ensure that when a c# project is compiled the CSC.exe launched inherits the parent processor affinity settings, or perhaps of a way where by i can supply this. I have been trying to accomplish this by launching a bat file from vs.net cmd prompt like start /affinity 01 custombuild.cmd and inside my custombuild.cmd i have @echo off msbuild Libraries.sln /t:rebuild /p:Configuration=Release;platform=x64 /m:1 :END The command line call to Csc.exe this generates looks like the following C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Csc.exe ... ignoring the rest for brevity. What i 'd like to see is the CSC.exe to inherit the processor affinity or a simple way to be able to override how csc.exe call is generated so i can make it into a start /affinity 01 C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Csc.exe ... ignoring the rest for brevity. I also noticed that CoreCompile target is defined in Microsoft.CSharp.targets, should i be considering overriding MSBuildToolsPath variable so i can sneak in my own version. This feels rather hacky. Any help would be much appreciated.

  I have been loading an assembly via Assembly.LoadFrom(@"path"); and then doing Type t = asm.GetType("Test.Test"); test = Activator.CreateInstance(t, new Object[] { ... }); and it was working fine, but now I moved the dll I am getting the following System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --- System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissons.SecurityPermission, etc .. For the sake of brevity it seems the demand was for an PermissionSet that allowed ControlAppDomain and it's not getting it. My question is how can I create this permissionset and pass it to the instance or assembly? I've been googling for hours to no avail.

• Intermittent SQL Server ODBC Timeout expired

  We have a bunch of VB6 applications that access two different database servers (both 32-bit windows 2003, one SQL Server 2000, one SQL Server 2005). About every ten minutes or so, we are getting a few errors: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]ConnectionRead() This is happening on more than a dozen different computers at random times. We also have IP phones that all run through the same network and those are not having any problems. We can also VNC into a users computer and reproduce the error they were getting, but VNC still continues to work. Email also works. It just seems to be an ODBC connection to SQL Server that causes the issue. The errors happen for both of our SQL Servers. We have scoured google, but haven't been able to come up with a solution. Is there anything we can try to diagnose the problem? Is there any fix out there?

Now I want to use masm/link to assemble an executable from the generated .asm listing.   Hi Guys, I need to build a scalable single sign-on mechanism for multiple sites. Scenario: Central web application to register/manage account (Server in Europe) Several web applications that need to authenticate against my user database (Servers in US/Europe/Pacific region) I am using MySQL as database backend. The options I came up with are either replicating the user database across all servers (data security?) or allowing the servers to directly connect to my MySQL instance by explicitly allowing connections from their IPs in my.cnf (high load? single point of failure?). What would be the best way to provide a scalable and low-latency single sign-on for all web applications? In terms of data security would it be a good idea to replicate the user database across all web applications? Note: All web applications provide an API which users can use to embed widgets into their own websites. These widgets work through a token auth mechanism which will again need to authenticate against my user database.

• Weird splitter behaviour when moving it

  My demo app displays two rectangles which should fill whole browser's screen. There is a vertical splitter between them. This looks like a basic scenario but I have no idea how to implement this in xaml. I cannot force this to fill whole screen and when moving splitter then whole screen grows. • Excel data connection - remove header row?

  The excel spreadsheet is connecting to SQL server 2005 using the connection string below: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=True;Initial Catalog=XXXXXX;Data Source=XXXXXX;Extended Properties="HDR=No";Use Procedure for Prepare=1;Auto Translate=True;Packet Size=4096;Workstation ID=XXXXXX;Use Encryption for Data=False;Tag with column collation when possible=False It then pulls data from a view into Excel. The business user wants this information without a header row. This will allow her to review then save as a "headless" csv in SAGE file format. I attempted to alter the connection string by adding HDR=No but that hasn't worked. Additionally, I can't delete the header row. Deleting the content replaces the column names with "Column 1" etc. Any ideas appreciated!

But i am getting lot of Syntax errors Is there any problems in the way which i followed.If i commented the line define MANIFEST_RESOURCE_ID 1 MANIFEST_RESOURCE_ID RT_MANIFEST "myproject.exe.manifest" which added in Myproject.h for adding values in .rc file there willnot any error other than this general error c1010070: Failed to load and parse the manifest. • Convert ASP.NET membership system to secure password storage

  I have a potential client that set up their website and membership system in ASP.NET 3.5. When their developer set up the system, it seems he turned off the security/hashing aspect of password storage and everything is stored in the clear. Is there a process to reinstall/change the secure password storage of ASP.NET membership without changing all of the passwords in the database? The client is worried that they'll lose their customers if they all have to go through a massive password change. I've always installed with security on by default, thus I don't know the effect of a switchover. Is there a way to convert the entire system to a secure password system without major effects on the users?

• Import-Pssession is not importing cmdlets when used in a custom module

  I have a PowerShell script/function that works great when I use it in my PowerShell profile or manually copy/paste the function in the PowerShell window. I'm trying to make the function accessible to other members of my team as a module. I want to have the module stored in a central place so we can all add it to our PSModulePath. Here is a copy of the basic function: Function Connect-O365{ $o365cred = Get-Credential [email protected] $session365 = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://ps.outlook.com/powershell/ -Credential $o365cred -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection Import-PSSession $session365 -AllowClobber } If I save this function in my PowerShell profile it works fine. I can dot source a *.ps1 script with this function in it and it works as well. The issue is when I save the function as a *.psm1 PowerShell script module. The function runs fine but none of the exported commands from the Import-PSSession are available. I think this may have something to do with the module scope. I'm looking for suggestions on how to get around this.   Hi I've been working on a project in Netbeans. Now I'd like to submit it and allow the markers to compile it with a script. However, I get the NoClassDefFoundError when I try to run via the command line. Even when setting the classpath to the current directory manually. javac Main.java works fine then calling java -classpath . Main gives: java -classpath .   The only way I found so far is System.Drawing.Bitmap.GetPixel(), but Microsoft has warnings for System.Drawing that are making me wonder if this is the "old way" to do it. Are there any alternatives? Here's what Microsoft says about the System.Drawing namespace. I also noticed that the System.Drawing assembly was not automatically added to the references when I created a new WPF project. System.Drawing Namespace The System.Drawing namespace provides access to GDI+ basic graphics functionality. More advanced functionality is provided in the System.Drawing.Drawing2D, System.Drawing.Imaging, and System.Drawing.Text namespaces. The Graphics class provides methods for drawing to the display device. Classes such as Rectangle and Point encapsulate GDI+ primitives. The Pen class is used to draw lines and curves, while classes derived from the abstract class Brush are used to fill the interiors of shapes. Caution Classes within the System.Drawing namespace are not supported for use within a Windows or ASP.NET service.
