• How do I setup a Master Page with ASP.net?

  Hi there, I'm normally a ColdFusion developer, but I'm having to work on a new site using some ASP.net hosting only, so forgive me if my questions seem very trivial. For numerous reasons, the website will be relatively static in the sense that it will mainly be using includes etc...that's about as complex as it will get with this. Now, I heard about the ability to set a master in ASP.net. Would anyone please be able to explain to me in a step process on how to do this? I have of course been searching for some time now on this topic but most results yield little help or no help at all since the search terms are slightly ambiguous. It would be nice to have this functionality for the long run. Any help or advice would be great. Many thanks. Michael.

  I am familiar with MVC/MVP though my question is simple, I'm about to program a simple Instant Messaging software when the engine and communication part is an open API. so my software will have about 3 forms, a splash screen with login details, the options form and a main form with all the functionality like: Friends List, Send message, Received messages (tabbed), search user, etc. In UI perspective, its important for the GUI to be in 1 form in my application. So my question is, for the only complicated form that I'm going to have, is it necessary to implement an MVP design pattern or in this case its better to just go straight forward and put all the logic in 1 place? • Serial port determinism

  This seems like a simple question, but it is difficult to search for. I need to interface with a device over the serial port. In the event my program (or another) does not finish writing a command to the device, how do I ensure the next run of the program can successfully send a command? Example: The foo program runs and begins writing "A_VERY_LONG_COMMAND" The user terminates the program, but the program has only written, "A_VERY" The user runs the program again, and the command is resent. Except, the device sees "A_VERYA_VERY_LONG_COMMAND," which isn't what we want. Is there any way to make this more deterministic? Serial port programming feels very out-of-control due to issues like this.

  I am just beginning design work on a problem that I'm sure has been solved before. In a web based application, I need to: a) present a map b) place a set of points (map-pins) on the map c) allow the user at his browser to draw a simple closed curve on the map with his mouse d) send the path of that curve back to the server e) on the server, select from the set of points those that are within the closed curve. What are the best API's to use for this problem? (I know I can and will do more research with Google, but I'm figuring there is probably someone who has done this that can give me some pointers to narrow my search space.) Thanks.

  I'm trying to update Eclipse 5.3.1 (on Gentoo Linux) from the Galileo Discovery Site and I get this error message: Network connection problems encountered during search. Unable to access "http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo". Error accessing site stream. [Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd] Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd Error accessing site stream. • Compiling PAR for Perl under Windows

  I've downloaded PAR from http://par.perl.org/wiki/Main_Page and compiled it after reading the README file. I've used dmake-4.12-20090907 instead of nmake ('cause 1.5 does not work) from http://search.cpan.org/dist/dmake/. No problems during the installing proccess (repeating the install proccess doesn't help farther, no warnings, just less text output), but there is no pp.exe or something similar.   I have been reading some django tutorial and it seems like all the view functions have to go in a file called "views.py" and all the models go in "models.py". I fear that I might end up with a lot of view functions in my view.py file and the same is the case with models.py. Is my understanding of django apps correct? Django apps lets us separate common functionality into different apps and keep the file size of views and models to a minimum? For example: My project can contain an app for recipes (create, update, view, and search) and a friend app, the comments app, and so on. Can I still move some of my view functions to a different file? So I only have the CRUD in one single file?

  We're using Oracle 10g application server and deployed the Web service and trying to deploy the web service client. Server is working fine i.e.; marshalling is working fine. We're getting the output from the service properly but the search client is not unmarshalling (parsing) the response received. We're using all the tags under same name space so there is no name space problem. Different collections would exists in the XSD. Has anyone faced similar kind of issue?   I've had some problems under the IDE that were fixed with unsettings and disabling Global menu and the Overlay Scrollbars. I've reported the problem in Lazarus' Mantis: #0021465, #0021467. There is also this bug report talking a bit more about it: #0019266 Their solution was to use unsettings to turn off Global Menu and Overlay Scrollbars. I've had a quick search about the problem and there's an open bug report at Launchpad: overlay scrolling is broken in lazarus. So, is the problem related to "lib overlay scrollbar"? If it is, is there a solution via code, to avoid turning off both the Global Menu and Overlay Scrollbars? If NOT, is there anyone taking notice and fixing the issue? Many thanks, Gus

• Very slow remote page load performance in QtWebKit (Windows)

  I get very slow load times on QtWebKit on Windows 7, through ADSL. I am using the Qt Demo Browser, on a Core2 Quad, 64 bit Windows 7, 4GB ram, 2gb processor. through a VPN. Simplest example: google search page takes ~18 seconds to load, compared to 2.5 on Chrome (cash cleared). On larger pages, with scripts etc. it is worse. I tried Qt 4.6 and also the Qt 4.7 beta, but don't see any difference. I see the same results with Arora browser. Are there any settings, or patches that can be applied to fix this? Thanks

I do something like this ....sys.columns c... c.precision, c.scale, c.is_nullable as isnullable, c.default_object_id as columndefault, c.is_computed as iscomputed, but for default value i get the id..something like 454545454 but i want to get the value "xxxx".   I need help getting git extensions to run with msysgit. I have had bad luck with extensions git-tfs and git-fetchall, in both cases it is the same problem. The addon will require a file to be placed where git can find it (git-tfs.exe and git-fetchall.sh). I understand this to mean the files need to be in a directory that is in the 'PATH' environment variable. In both cases I get stuck at this point: $ git-diffall bash: git-diffall: command not found When I run echo %PATH% from a regular command shell, it shows my path variable includes the directories where git-diffall and git-tfs are. How can I debug this, or am I missing something? Is there a way within msysgit to verify the command search path is what I expect?

• System.Diaganostics.Process.Id Isn't the Same Process Id Shown in Task Manger. Why?

  I'm using c#'s System.Diagnostic.Process object. One of its properties is Id. The Id this produces is not the same as the PID, shown in Windows Task Manager. Why is this? You see, once this process is started. It launches two other unmanaged processes, for which I can't explicitly get IDs for by object property references. I have to search through all processes to find them by process name via System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses(). I'm trying to find a reliable way to kill this process and all associated processes by PID, the one that shows in Task Manager. Is there a better way? I can't just kill all processes with the associated process names, because that might kill other instances of those processes that have nothing to do with my program.

  I've got a flex component which works pretty well but unfortunately turns into a disaster once used in a datagroup item renderer of about 40-50 items. Essentially it uses bitmapdata to take screenshot of a fully-rendered webpage in mx:HTML (this version of webkit rocks btw, miles better than flex 3).   I finally found how to make an exe project in Netbeans, so a jar file and execute it from the DESKTOP. The only problem I have ocurred is that after I open the jar file and login with my username and password the button icons are not shown, if I put a string it appears but if I put the image it doesn't appear. However I was wondering if there was a way to leverage the standard min/max functions of: Array.max = function(array) { return Math.max.apply(Math, array); }; Array.min = function(array) { return Math.min.apply(Math, array); }; So I can search across an array of objects of say: function Vector(x, y, z) { this.x = x; this.y = y; this.z = z; } var ArrayVector = [ /* lots of data */ ]; var min_x = ArrayVector.x.min(); // or var max_y = ArrayVector["y"].max(); Currently I have to loop through the array and compare the object values manually and craft each one to the particular need of the loop. A more general purpose way would be nice (if slightly slower).

  Hi, I am trying to compile facebook library for my iphone application. But I am getting this error. error: FBConnect/FBConnect.h: No such file or directory I have added the location of the folder in header search paths and yet it is not compiling. This is the path that I have added- /Users/nishant/Downloads/facebook-facebook-iphone-sdk-1059eb6/src. I even tried the copy files to destination folder option, but that also did not work. I know this is a very simple step, but I am getting frustrated, because I have tried this like 20-30 times. Any help.
