I've read lots about using local storage for android but how would I connect to an SQL database online to send and get data?
For example, if I was making a game and wanted to create a worldwide high score table, how would I store that online and make sure it was only available to that app?
Thanks, Jon
Hello,

Hi
Is Entity Framework worth moving to for a new small app? About 10 tables and a WinForms app.
ie the alternative being DataTables/DataRows or Linq-to-SQL
I am trying to alter a table so That I can add a foreign key constraint in mysql database:
ALTER TABLE `Question` ADD CONSTRAINT `FK_question` FOREIGN KEY (`QuestionId`)
REFERENCES `Image_Question` (`QuestionId`) ON DELETE CASCADE ;
Problem is that it is giving me this error:
1452 - Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (mobile_app.
'#sql-4517_15241', CONSTRAINT FK_question FOREIGN KEY
(QuestionId) REFERENCES Image_Question (QuestionId) ON DELETE
CASCADE)
What does this error actually mean and what are the possible solutions I might have to undertake in order to fix this?
I'm in a situation where I want to add the equivalent of the sql statement
SET QUERY_GOVERNOR_COST_LIMIT
to my query I created with linq to entities.
How would I go about that?
What is the fastest and most stable non-sql database to store big data and process thousands requests during the day (it's for traffic exchange service)? I've found Kdb+ and Berkeley DB. Are they good? Are there other options?
Planning to buy a laptop(reasonable budget).
I want to know the basic requirement to run VS2010 and SQL Server 2008 smoothly with Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4 in Windows 7 Home.
Can Pentium Processor do the job?
If not please Suggest me.
Thank you.
Hi!
I have got model Team and I've got (i.e.) team = Team.first :offset => 20. Now I need to get number of position of my team in db table.
I can do it in ruby:
Team.all.index team #=> 20
But I am sure that I can write it on SQL and it will be less expensive for me with big tables.
I am looking forward to move all the logic (which is implemented as manipulating Entity Framework 4 objects) to a server side. It looks going to be simple (thanks to the application structure) and beneficial (as all I have is one oldy laptop as a client and one tough server which runs SQL Server 2008, and building a separate service for the logic can just introduce more latency if compared to doing it inside the database).
So how do I correctly use Entities Framework inside a CLR stored procedure and make it using a host-server-provided SqlContext?
I am running unit tests and when I try to insert data in the database and getting it right after, I don't get anything (I have tried with DataAdapter and DataReader).
However when I put a 3 seconds sleep (even with 1 second it doesn't work...) between the insert and the select I get the result.
In SQL Server Profiler I can see the execution, the insert is well done and is completed about 10 miliseconds before the select begins.
I can't find out where this comes
I have
byte[] a = HashEncrypt("a");
with
public byte[] HashEncrypt(string password)
{
SHA512Managed sha = new SHA512Managed();
byte[] hash = sha.ComputeHash(UnicodeEncoding.Unicode.GetBytes(password));
return hash;
}
I want to save byte[] a to my database. My database field is a varbinary(64). I'm using SQL Server 2008. I want to know the insert query with C# code.
I am using ADO.NET
I am using SQL Server 2000. I have a database with n number of tables in it. I have configured a maintenance plan. If I enable integrity check and run the plan, I am not able to enter any data through VC++/ADO.
Is there anything I have to check?
We have a requirement to log IP address information of all users who use a certain web application based on JEE 5. What would be an appropriate sql data type for storing IPv4 or IPv6 addressses in the following supported databases (h2, mysql, oracle). There is also a need to filter activity from certain IP addresses. Should I just treat the representation as a string field (say varchar(32) to hold ipv4, ipv6 addresses)
Hi
How Can I Import Data From a Table in Sql Server CE To Excel?
I Try This From Excel But I Can Not Find an Item for This In Excel
Please Help Me To This
So i have a SQL table setup as such
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `points` (
`id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`lat` float(10,6) NOT NULL,
`lng` float(10,6) NOT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
) ENGINE=MyISAM;
And im inserting stuff like
INSERT INTO `points` (`lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('89.123456','-12.123456');
Gives me a row with lat and lng being 89.123459 and -12.123455
Whats up?
Hi,
I am getting the following error: Invalid authorization specification
I've narrowed down the error to my connection string. I have verified the server name, database, user & password are correct. Here is the string:
"Provider=SQLOLEDB;Server=xxxxx.db.12345.hostedresource.com;Database=foo;UID=fooUser;PWD=fooPW"
The SQL server is hosted on Godaddy so I don't have access to its settings.
Please help, I've scoured the internet for a solution!
We have some JPA entity classes which are currently under development and wouldn't want them as part of the testing cycle. We tried commenting out the relevant entity classes in META-INF\persistence.xml but the hbm2ddl reverse engineering tool still seems to generate SQL for those entities. How do I tell my code to ignore these classes? Are there any annotations for these or should I have to comment out the @Entity annotation along with my changes in persistence.xml file.
The answer to another SO question was to use this SQL query:
SELECT o.Id, o.attrib1, o.attrib2 FROM table1 o
JOIN (
SELECT DISTINCT Id FROM table1, table2, table3 WHERE ...
) T1
ON o.id = T1.Id
Now I wonder how I can use this statement together with the keyword FOR UPDATE. If I simply append it to the query, Oracle will tell me:
ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view
Do I have to modify the query or is there a trick to do this with Oracle?
With MySql the statement works fine.
There's a table like this one
______________________
| id | title | order |
|----------------------|
| 1 | test1 | 1 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 2 | test2 | 2 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 3 | test3 | 3 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 4 | test4 | 4 |
'----------------------'
when i introduce in my mysql shell a single update to a row
$sql UPDATE `table` SET order=1 WHERE id=3;
And then procedure or method resamples order column in the before update lower values to get its order renewed like this
______________________
| id | title | order |
|----------------------|
| 1 | test1 | 2 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 2 | test2 | 3 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 3 | test3 | 1 |
|-----|--------|-------|
| 4 | test4 | 4 |
'----------------------'
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Need to create a php file so I can send data to an sql server and get data from the server. There must also be a json support because I am doing this for an iphone app. Could you please help me and give me a source code example.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone use the PL/SQL Web Toolkit at all? We use it for internal reporting where I work.
However, does anyone have any experiences of it for producing client-facing websites? General advantages/disadvantages compared to other web languages, such as JSP, PHP etc
