• Multiple possible jsp views for a request

  I'm looking to offer the user some way of changing how a single page looks based on some pre-defined jsps. i.e. Two or more jsp's contain similar information, and would be backed by a single controller method. The controller would decide which view to return. Is there a common way of achieving this? At the moment I have some administration screens where I control a list of possible views. The user can then choose which one to see from a drop-down. My current issue is that I don't know how to confirm (at the admin screen) that the view is valid. Is there a way of asking spring for all possible views so I can filter them and resent a drop-down on the admin screen rather than a free text field? If not is there a way of asking spring if a single view is valid? All these views will reside under a common directory, so it would probably be possible to scan recursively from that point and build a list of possible views. This goes beyond simply changing the css, since the page content might be different despite being backed by the same model.

• Running a small IPTV station

  I'm looking to run an iptv station for my dorm. I know I can serve multicast so that's not a problem. The station will serve out podcasts and other cc licensed content. The target endpoint is xbmc- a media center. So far I know that I need to serve an rtp stream over udp that's streaming an mpeg-4 avc main or high profile with aac ( or ac3 ?) audio. I've had some luck using vlc with vlm to stream but it seems limited. What are my other options?  Everything has to run on Linux- hopefully open source. How can I use playlists and not live streams? What are my software options?

  We are putting out a call for abstracts to present at the Fall 2010 Silverlight Connections conference in Las Vegas, Nov 1-4, 2010. The due date for submissions is April 26, 2010. • Getting the alternative to the 200-Line Linux Kernel patch to work

  Apparently, there is a comparable alternative to the 200-line kernel patch that involves no kernel upgrade. It is presented here and discussed here. However, I am not sure if webupd8's solution (under the section "Use it in Ubuntu") on Ubuntu actually works or not. In particular, one commenter on ./ is saying he's getting an error message. Could anyone post the "correct" method that actually works? Suggested solution: Based on the comments I've read so far, the following seems to work. • Add a new folder to each subfolder

  I have main a folder say E:\donuts and there are hundreds of folders inside it. e.g. E:\donuts\yellow\ E:\donuts\green\ ... E:\donuts\blue\ I want to create a new folder in each subfolder simply using some DOS command. Something like this. E:\donuts\yellow\big E:\donuts\green\big and so on. How can I achieve this? Also, would to be possible move the content of each subfolder into the corresponding big folder? For instance all the files and folders in E:\donuts\yellow\ should move to E:\donuts\yellow\big and so on.

• Having issues with flickering output to TV from Windows 7 laptop

  I cannot tell why this is happening. I cannot get a pattern as to when it happens. Sometimes, I watch entire Hulu content without any interruptions. Other times, it happens 2-3 times in a span of 3 minutes. Then it stops for 10-15 minutes. Lenovo T410s Integrated graphics: Intel HD Graphics (Driver=8.15.10.2253, Video BIOS=2026.1) TV is a Zenith (does not happen with other laptop so doubt it's TV) TV connected to laptop using HDMI-to-DVI cable (previously was connected directly via DVI but I bought a new cable and it's still happening) Anyone could help me troubleshoot this? I'd greatly appreciate it. If you need more information, I'll be glad to provide it.

"html5" might include all the html5 standard tags, but your tags names wouldn't have to be based on their HTML counter-parts at all if you didn't want to. The "extratags" library for example might add an extra tag, called "jsinclude" which gets replaced with something like <script type="text/javascript" src="@content"></script> Tags can be optionally be followed by an opening brace. They will automatically be closed as the closing brace. If no brace is used, they will be closed after taking on element. Variables are prefixed with the @ symbol. They may be used inside double-quoted strings. I think I'll use single-quotes to indicate "no variable substitution" like PHP does. Filter functions can be applied to variables like @variable|filter. Arguments can be passed to the filter @variable|filter:@arg1,arg2="y" Attributes can be passed to tags by including them in (), like p(class="classname"). Some questions: Which symbol should I use to prefix variables? @ (like Razor), $ (like PHP), or something else? Should the @ symbol be necessary in "for" and "if" statements? It's kind of implied that those are variables. Tags and controls (like if,for) presently have the exact same syntax. Should I do something to differentiate the two? If so, what? Do you like the attribute syntax? (round brackets) I'll add more questions in a few minutes, once I get some feedback.

  Yesterday my friend Vinod Kumar wrote excellent blog post on SQL Server 2012: Using SEQUENCE. I personally enjoyed reading the content on this subject. While I was reading the blog post, I thought of very simple new puzzle. Let us see if we can try to solve it and learn a bit more about Sequence. Here is the script, which I executed. USE TempDB GO -- Create sequence CREATE SEQUENCE dbo.SequenceID AS BIGINT START WITH 3 INCREMENT BY 1 MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 5 CYCLE NO CACHE; GO -- Following will return 3 SELECT next value FOR dbo.SequenceID; -- Following will return 4 SELECT next value FOR dbo.SequenceID; -- Following will return 5 SELECT next value FOR dbo.SequenceID; -- Following will return which number SELECT next value FOR dbo.SequenceID; -- Clean up DROP SEQUENCE dbo.SequenceID; GO Above script gave me following resultset. 3 is the starting value and 5 is the maximum value. Once Sequence reaches to maximum value what happens? and WHY? Bonus question: If you use UNION between 2 SELECT statement which uses UNION, it also throws an error. What is the reason behind it? • How to create art assets for a 3d avatar editor

  I am currently prototyping an idea for an iPhone game. I'd like to create an avatar editor inside the game so that the player can create a 3d avatar face and modify certain features (using slider controls), such as nose shape, eye color, mouth size, etc. This has been done in several games, but what I'm looking to do would be fairly cartoon-ish/caricature-ish, similar to the Mii editor on the Nintendo Wii (http://www.myavatareditor.com/). I'd also like the final result to have the ability to use some canned animations, such as simple speech animations, smiling, frowning, etc. I am not an artist, so I would be unable to create these assets, but what kind of effort is required for an artist to create the 3d models necessary for this type of game? Also what mechanism would be required to tweak the face's characteristics? Would you use bones or morph targets? How would the final result be animated? Would facial animation use bones or morph targets? I've seen several tools that do this sort of thing too, such as FacialStudio. Are there any facial generation tools out there you'd recommend for generating some base content for this game, or should I just hire an artist to do this type of work. Thanks!

• IIS7 rejecting POST requests with 400 error.

  I have a web application that is supposed to handle post requests from SAP. This has been working fine at other customers with win2k3 systems (IIS6) and win2k8 (IIS7) systems. However, on this specific customer's site, IIS responds with a 400 response, without calling my aspx page. In fact, I don't even see it appear in the w3c log for the virtual directory. I do see the request using Network Monitor, so I know no firewalls and the like are eating the request, and as far as I can tell, all of the fields of the request are valid (there is "content-length", it looks correct (this is a sending of a 28K tiff file - which isn't MIME encoded, curiously enough now that I think of it...) Ideas?

• Why does integrity check fail for the 12.04.1 Alternate ISO?

  I have followed various recommendations from the Ubuntu Documentation to create a bootable Ubuntu USB flash drive using the 12.04.1 Alternate install ISO-file for 64-bit PC. But the integrity test of the USB stick has failed and I do not see why. These are the steps I have made: Download of the 12.04.1 Alternate install ISO-file for 64-bit PC (ubuntu-12.04.1-alternate-amd64.iso) from http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04.1/, as well as the MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 hash files and related PGP signatures Verification of the data integrity of the ISO-file using the MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 hash files, after having verified the hash files using the related PGP signature files (see e.g. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToSHA256SUM and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VerifyIsoHowto) Creation of a bootable USB stick using Ubuntu's Startup Disk Creator program (see http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-ubuntu) Boot of my computer using the newly made 12.04.1 Alternate install on USB stick Selection of the option "Check disc for defects" (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck) Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 went without any problem or error messages. However, step 5 ended with an error message entitled "Integrity test failed" and with the following content: The ./install/netboot/ubuntu-installer/amd64/pxelinux.cfg/default file failed the MD5 checksum verification. Your CD-ROM or this file may have been corrupted. I have experienced the same (might only be similar since I have no exact notes) error message in previous attempts using the 12.04 (i.e. not the maintenance release) Alternate install ISO-file. I have in these cases tried to install anyway and have so far not experienced any problems to my knowledge. Is failed integrity check described above a serious error? What is the solution? Or can it be ignored without further problems?

Ms. Kennedy, Intellectual Property Attorney with an active litigation, trademark and copyright practice, presented: How Google, Wal-Mart & Apple Make their Millions – The Secret Ingredient: Intellectual Property This topic initiated great interest and the meeting room at Microsoft Ft. Lauderdale filled up to the last seat. Most Architects, Engineers, and MBA’s are not aware about Intellectual Property, Basic Patent, Trademark, or legal issues related to the web. After clarifying the basic definitions, Ms. Kennedy explained in detail how intellectual property issues could make or break a company. Members had the opportunity at the end of the presentation to ask questions, discuss legal problems, and several members shared their experiences related to Intellectual Property and other IT related issues. If you want to protect your ideas and intellectual property, you have to be aware of the implications and need to take the right steps in order to protect them. All Chapter Members agreed that it was an outstanding and lively presentation. Ms. Kennedy presented high quality content and made participants aware of legal IT issues. • Writing your own Makefile for OpenBSD ports

  I have an OpenBSD box running Python 2.6. I want to install py-setuptools, but that package is built against 2.5. I was curious as to what the Makefile for py-setuptools [Someone with rep, fix me please][http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/devel/py-setuptools/Makefile?rev=1.13;content-type=text%2Fx-cvsweb-markup ] looks like, to see if it mentioned anything about Python 2.5 as a dependency. I did not find anything version-dependent. I typed make install in /usr/ports/devel/py-setuptools on a whim, and it blew up because of failed missing Python 2.5 dependency. That is expected. My question is, How do I modify the Makefile to build against Python 2.6 ? I came across this in the man pages [please fix me][http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=port-modules&sektion=5&arch=&apropos=0&manpath=OpenBSD+4.6#CORE+MODULES] , but I am still clueless how to specify what version to build against. Also, I dont see anything that actually installs the egg.

  I don't expect all these questions to be answered right away. Gradually over time is fine. Also, I guess the answers would differ depending on the language, so I'm looking for information related to the English/en-US versions only (I believe there is an en-GB version as well?) The Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant allows one to create USB/DVD (ISO) media: Is the media customised per-PC in any way, or are copies created on different PCs with different base OSes (XP/Vista/7) exactly the same? If the ISOs are not customised, are they exactly the same content-wise as the Upgrade DVDs available for purchase?
