    Hello guys, As a .net developer main c#, I want to know what would be the best approach for me to develop Phone application that runs on major phones. Just to let you know Iphone is out of the question because of the costs that are involved, not ready to buy Mac book. I want something I can develop within Windows operating system, Android could have been the best option but it does not integrated well with .net. Any idea please ? Terry

  • em vs px... for mobile browsers...

    For desktop browser all modern browser uses Zoom functionality so we can use PX but if same site can be seen on mobile then would px not be good for zooming in mobile browsers. or use of px is also fine for mobile browsers. even if we don't care for IE 6 , should we use em in place of px still if we are not making different site for mobile, same site will be seen on both desktop and mobile phones (iphone, blackberry, windows mobile, opera mini, android etc?

  • Drawing an NSAttributedString into a non-rectangular CGPath?

    I generate a rather complex NSAttributedString in my iOS 3.2 application (iPad), including formatting options of type CTParagraphStyleSetting, in particular with values for kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierMinimumLineHeight and kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierParagraphSpacing. When I try to draw this attributed string into a non-rectangular CGPath, Core Text draws it but without the line spacing defined; that is, all text appears crammed in paragraphs without line spacing. Needless to say, it does not look as pretty as if the CGPath was simply defined using a single call to CGPathAddRect()! Is there any setting I can specify (to my CTFramesetterRef or to the CTFrameRef associated to the culprit CGPath) to avoid losing all line height information? Thanks!

  • Orientation change event in Browser on Palm webOS

    I'm working on a web application where I'm trying to capture when the user rotates the screen. Fundamentally, I want to know if the user is browsing in portrait mode or landscape mode. The iPhone/iPad and Android browsers send a resize event when the screen orientation changes. Unfortunately, the browser in webOS doesn't seem to send that notification. Any advice on how to detect in the browser any changes in orientation on Palm webOS? Thanks.

    I'm overlaying the mapview and using RegexKitLite. I couldn't make it work. I've downloaded .m and .h files and added to the project. Also I tried, adding libicucore.dylib or libicucore.A.dlib or adding -licucore to other compiler flags field.     There might have been a restriction on originating (making) calls (voice or data) from mobile phones without an explicit user permission i.e. a window would pop-up, asking the user to press 'Yes'/approve or 'No'/cancel for a call attempt made by a software application on that cellphone/mobile. There seems though to exist API for making calls, voice calls and data calls, on various embedded OS like WM, Symbian and Android. Do they require a user button-press then?

  • Web page width on LG mobile phone

    Hi I'm trying to develop a site for mobile phones. At the moment it seems to work on iphone and android htc desire and an n95. When I try it on an LG renoir instead of the page fitting the width of the screen the page displays at least twice as wide as it should meaning you can scroll left and right. Has anyone come across this before, or knows how to stop it. Warm regards

  • Continual crashing in MKMapView annotationContainer:viewForAnnotation

    I've looked at other reports on this, and none seems to apply. Our app is being crippled by frequent (but not reliably reproducible) crashes like this: Reports of this turn up a lot on the Web, but many seem to go unsolved. I'm not doing anything crazy, just showing the user position and one marker on the map. I followed the examples I could find, and I've looked at the code for goofs but can't find any. Here's how my MapView delegate handles viewForAnnotation: The crash appears to be associated with a change in the user's location, but once the user-location marker is added, I don't mess with it. When I need to refresh the one other map marker, I skip the user marker when removing the other one: The delegate is the controller for the whole screen, so it's not being deallocated; the crash occurs while the screen is up. Not that it matters, but the map display looks like this: Any guesses or insight would be much appreciated! This is on iOS 5.0.1.

  • python modules difference: .c/.h vs. .py

    I'm very new to python, as i'm embedding it (in form of a static lib) in an ios project. It's not possible for me to dynamically load python modules, so i would like to compile my modules along with python. For modules shipped with the python source this works (by modifying setup.py or Module/Setup), but when i downloaded a third party module i noticed, i don't fully understand the mechanism. The modules shipped with python come with a .c file in the Modules dir as well as a .py file in the Lib dir. My third party module just comes with .py files. 1.Why do those modules have different file extensions? 2.How to integrate a module coming with .py files in an embedded python version? Obviously pasting them in Modules/Setup does require some .c files. 3.Do these .c files have something to do with the Python C-Api? I guess i'm missing something essential :) Help is much appreciated.

  • Can an iPhone/iPod Touch application open a port for remote communication without jailbreaking?

    I'm researching remote control testing for an app that'll be installed on the new iPod Touch and can't tell for certain from everything that I've read whether or not an installed app can or can't open any ports for remote test instructions (that's a mouthful : ) We created something like this for the Android using adb port forwarding and telnet, and it worked really well. Is there any chance something similar could be done on an iPhone or iPod without jailbreaking??

    Recently Google introduced an SDK for application usage tracking on mobile devices (Google Analytics for Mobile Apps). Unfortunately, it seems that it only supports IPhone and Android devices. Do you have any idea if this framework can somehow be used from Windows Mobile / Compact Framework applications or if Google is planning to release an SDK for WM? BTW, I don't mean a WM application for browsing through GA server reports, but an SDK for tracking your mobile app's usage.

I launch this avd with -debug-all parameter and debuger write "could not handle (sym=61, mod=0, str=EQUAL) KEY [0x00d, down]". OS - Windows Vista. Last version Java platform, SDK, Eclipse.     DTrace is impressive, powerful tracing system originally from Solaris, but it is ported to FreeBSD and Mac OSX. DTrace uses a high-level language called D not unlike AWK or C. Here is an example: io:::start /pid == $1/ { printf("file %s offset %d size %d block %llu\n", args[2]->fi_pathname, args[2]->fi_offset, args[0]->b_bcount, args[0]->b_blkno); } Using the command line sudo dtrace -q -s <name>.d <pid> all IOs originated from that process are logged. My question is if and how it is possible to call custom C functions from a DTrace script to do advanced operations with that tracing data during the tracing itself.
