    before answer me plz thinking about the futures of these kind of program and answer me plz. I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file? IF your answer is I must use the first way follow this part plz: do u have any Idea for how I parse the output?because for example the result of a table is so confusing...[i can handle & program it but I really need someone experience,because the important things to me learn how such software work so nice and with quick response?] All of the has different style in output...     Hi, I am having trouble parsing self closing XML tags using SAX. I am trying to extract the link tag from the Google Base API.I am having reasonable success in parsing regular tags.   • Ajax request not receiving xml from Django

    I have a Django server which handles requests to a URL which will return some HTML for use in an image gallery. I can navigate to the URL and the browser will display the HTML that is returned, but I can't get that same HTML by doing an AJAX call (using jQuery) to the same URL. This is the view that generates the response: def gallery_images(request, gallery_name): return render_to_response('galleryimages.html', {'images': get_images_of_gallery(gallery_name)}, mimetype='text/xml') This is the 'galleryimages.html' template: {% for image in images %} <div id="{{image.name}}big"> <div class="actualImage" style="background-image:url({{image.image.name}});"> <h1>{{image.caption|safe}}</h1> </div> </div> {% endfor %} This is the jQuery call I am making: $("#allImages").load("http://localhost:8000/galleryimages/Web"); However, this loads nothing into my #allImages div. I've used firebug and ran jQuery's Ajax method .get("http://localhost:8000/galleryimages/Web") and firebug says that the response text is completely empty.     I have these 3 queries: SELECT title, year, MovieGenres(m.mid) genres, MovieDirectors(m.mid) directors, MovieWriters(m.mid) writers, synopsis, poster_url FROM movies m WHERE m.mid = 1; SELECT AVG(rating) FROM movie_ratings WHERE mid = 1; SELECT COUNT(rating) FROM movie_ratings WHERE mid = 1; And I need to join them into a single query. I was able to do it like this: SELECT title, year, MovieGenres(m.mid) genres, MovieDirectors(m.mid) directors, MovieWriters(m.mid) writers, synopsis, poster_url, AVG(rating) average, COUNT(rating) count FROM movies m INNER JOIN movie_ratings mr ON m.mid = mr.mid WHERE m.mid = 1 GROUP BY title, year, MovieGenres(m.mid), MovieDirectors(m.mid), MovieWriters(m.mid), synopsis, poster_url; But I don't really like that "huge" GROUP BY, is there a simpler way to do it?

Wouldn't it became nasty if my xml elements are many level deep? Is there a workaround where I can read the element in ns1 namespace without knowing whether a prefix is defined?

  • Ubuntu on Oracle VirtualBox: Shared folders

    I looked at this question, but it didn't help. I'm running Windows 7 as a host with Ubuntu 10.10 as a guest with VBox 4.0. I want to have a shared directory between the two. I have installed Guest Additions. I went to the VBox control panel in Windows, added a Shared Folder (sharename Shared_Folder), and chose "Auto Mount". A directory named "sf_Shared_Folder" appeared in /media on Ubuntu, but when I put files in that directory from an OS, I can't see them on the other one. I then tried to create a directory without automounting (sharename collectivefiles), and to run the following command: foo@foo-VirtualBox:~$ sudo mount -t vboxsf collectivefiles FileShare /sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: No such device What is causing this error? I rebooted both the VM and VBox itself, but I'm still observing this.

    PS: My bad, there was not an error. I forgot to upload the latest version to the server... I have multimedias and images table. I save images in multimedias table with their images table id numbers. Then whenever I need image's url, with a simple function I get it from images table. The problem I am having is when I try to display image's url inside ImageURL, it just does not happen.     Say you've got the following query on 9i: SELECT /*+ USE_HASH(t2 t3) */ * FROM table1 t1 -- this has lots of rows LEFT JOIN table2 t2 ON t1.col1 = t2.col1 AND t1.col2 = t2.col2 LEFT JOIN table3 t3 ON t1.col1 = t3.col1 AND t1.col2 = t3.col2 Due to 9i not having RIGHT OUTER HASH JOIN, it needs to hash table1 for both joins. Does it re-hash table1 between joining t2 and t3 (even though it's using the same join columns), or does it keep the same hash information for both joins?

    I have a huge Excel spreadsheet containing telephone calling rates to a number of different countries. The format of the columns is: Country, RateLocality, Prefixes, Rate, Wholesale e.g. Afganistan, Default, 93;930;931;9321;9322;9323;9324;9325;9326;9327;9328;9329;9331;9332;9333;9334;9335;9336;9337;9338;9339;9341;9342;9343;9344;9345;9346;9347;9348;9349;9351;9352;9353;9354;9355;9356;9357;9358;9359;9361;9362;9363;9364;9365;9366;9367;9368;9369;9371;9372;9373;9374;9376;938;939; $ 1.023, $0.455 These rates change every so often and I need to get them into another system that can import them using CSV. The eventual format is: LD PREPEND CODE ie. 00 or 011,CountryCode,Area Code,Comment,Connect Cost,Included Seconds,Per Minute Cost,Pricelist,Increment So to convert that above line I'd have 00,"Afganistan",93,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 00,"Afganistan",931,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 ... 00,"Afganistan",939,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 Where 00, 60 and 10 are hard coded and merged with the other data from excel. How can I export this data into the required format given that I need to reformat it as it goes. Should I export to XML and use XSLT or some other process to massage the data into CSV? If that is the case, how do I do it simply and quickly.

Something like that //b[text()="5"]/.. but with check of all children's tags. Please note that number of children tags can be different from node to node. It's possible with only xpath query? thanks

    I have to serialize several objects inheriting from WebControl for database storage. These include several unecessary (to me) properties that I would prefer to omit from serialization. For example BackColor, BorderColor, etc. Here is an example of an XML serialization of one of my controls inheriting from WebControl. <Control xsi:type="SerializePanel"> <ID>grCont</ID> <Controls /> <BackColor /> <BorderColor /> <BorderWidth /> <CssClass>grActVid bwText</CssClass> <ForeColor /> <Height /> <Width /> ... </Control> I have been trying to create a common base class for my controls that inherits from WebControl and uses the "xxxSpecified" trick to selectively choose not to serialize certain properties. For example to ignore an empty BorderColor property, I'd expect [XmlIgnore] public bool BorderColorSpecified() { return !base.BorderColor.IsEmpty; } to work, but it's never called during serialization. I've also tried it in the class to be serialized as well as the base class. Since the classes themselves might change, I'd prefer not to have to create a custom serializer. Any ideas?

It is important that both definitions are named "Element", because I have an application needing that both elements are named the same way. But there is a second application that needs the additional information for type2.

    Hi: What would be the insert SQL statement to merge data from two tables. For example I have events_source_1 table (columns: event_type_id, event_date) and events_source_2 table (same columns) and events_target table (columns: event_type_id, past_event_date nullalbe, future_event_date nullable). Events_source_1 has past events, Events_source_2 has future events and resultant events_target would contain past and future events in the same row for same event_type_id. If there is no past_events but future_events then past_event_date won't be set and only future_event_date will be and the opposite is true too. Thanks a lot in advance for helping me resolving this problem.

It seems Like I will have to use union of the following two:- SELECT * FROM hierarchy START WITH id = 4 CONNECT BY id = PRIOR parent union SELECT * FROM hierarchy WHERE LEVEL =<2 START WITH id = 4 CONNECT BY parent = PRIOR id Is there a better way to do this, some workaround that is more optimized?
