• PHP parameter without value using for navigation

  Hello, I am trying to set up a navigation system that uses GET parameters with no value, example: http://foo.bar/?mainPage takes the visitor to the main page. So I am using if statements and I am wondering if there is a way I can do this without a bunch of if statements? I don't think switch statements would work for this. This is currently what I have: $mainPage = $_GET['mainPage']; $contact = $_GET['contact']; if(isset($mainPage)) { // go to main page } if(isset($contact)) { // go to contact page } I don't want to have to end up writing a ton of if statements, though.   Hi all I am trying to use a $.post() in the following way: $.post("file.php", { file_id: $(this).val()}, function(data){...} The file.php then does a database query and returns an array with a title, description and image reference. What I want to do then is be able to update the .val() for form fields for each. I understand how to do this on a single variable, it would just be the following: $.post("file.php", { file_id: $(this).val()}, function(data){ $('#title').val(data); } But, how do I get the data returned to be recognizable in jquery as either separate variables or as an array? • CSS: Fixed background images taller than the browser viewport

  I've got a large photo (940x1210) as the background image for a #page div which wraps around all the content on a site. Since the photo is a headshot, it looks pretty silly tiled, so I've set it not to repeat, and positioned it at 0,0. When the content enclosed by #page is taller than 1210px and the background image is set to scroll, the photo scrolls out of view, but if it's fixed, only the part of the image displayed initially in the browser viewport shows up- either the top half (fixed top left) or bottom half (fixed bottom left). Here's the question: how can I fix the background image to the bottom of #page (or the body) while scrolling through the full height of the image until I get to the bottom?

  Hi Webmasters. I have a simple form which is inside IFRAME. When user click on SUBMIT, it redirects to a specific page on my server. The function I use for the redirect is header ('Location: mypage2.html'); exit (); But I want the new page to open in _top location, not inside the same IFRAME that I use. How can I tell the browser to open the new page in _top not inside the IFRAME? Thanks in advance.

  I just finished to implement a custom functionality in one of the page articles in my Joomla website using sorcerer. In this page it is possible to query a hash and lookup it against a database. I would like to store the last 5 queries and show them in the page but I don't know how to do it. I need something as Java EE "Application Context" to store this values and make them available to all the users so using a Session to store this values is not what I need. I saw in the documentation that in Joomla exists JApplicacion but none of his methods allows me to store data.

• Windows Phone 7 Control Caching - 'Element is already the child of another element'

  I'm trying to speed up my windows phone 7 page load times. I have a 'static' page that has a dynamically created in a Panorama control - static meaning that the content never changes. On the first load I look at my config file, create the individual PanoramaItem controls and add them to the main Panorama control. I'm trying to keep a List in a static place so that the initial creation would only happen once and I could just add a fully rendered version to my Panorama control when the page was rendered. Works fine on first load, but when I try to add the cached PanoramaItems to the Panorama control I get the message "Element is already the child of another element". This makes sense since I already added before. But I can see a way to disconnect the PanoramaItems with the first Panorama control... I could be going about the control caching thing all wrong as well... Let me know if there's another way to do this.

• How to handle redirections with codeigniter?

  Hi, im having problems starting a codeigniter project, the problem is that when i do something in a controller and then i want a page to display the result, an example: i have a form to add a item to the database, i get all the data in the controller and save it to database and then i want (if all went well) to redirect to the main page with a success msg, i was doing this with $this->load->view('admin', $data); the problem is that the url keeps saying admin/addItem so everytime the page gets refreshed it adds another item, now i found the: redirect('admin','refresh'); but this only helps me when i dont need to display any msg because this function dont allow to send a $data var. Any ideas? Probably this is really easy to fix but i cant find a way to handle the flow of the application the way i want, any help is apreciated. thanks ;)

• Omit attribute name from validation error message (at start of it)?

  I write code in English but I'm currently doing a site which is fully translated to another language (validation error messages included). However, I have a problem because validation error messages always seem to include the name of the attribute the error is on at the start of the error, e.g.: Title Prosimo izpolnite naziv fakultete. I want to get rid of the Title at the start, like so: Prosimo izpolnite naziv fakultete. Any help is appreciated. I would rather see if this can be solved without installing any 3rd party plugins. If it's possible to provide translations for attribute names, that would be a cool solution too, but I would still like to know how it can be done both ways (omit or translate).

• youtube video will not display in desktop Chrome

  Youtube video does not show up in a modal window when viewed in a desktop version of Chrome. The modal window pops up but the youtube video does not. https://animalhealth.pfizer.com/sites/pahweb/US/EN/Products/Pages/ClarifideStories.aspx It works in IE and Firefox on Windows7, works in Chrome on Android ICS and iOS6 iPad. It is on a sharepoint site but if I open a version saved to my desktop it works fine in chrome. • JQuery QuickSearch: Searching on load if the input isn't blank

  I have used the jquery quicksearch plugin and it works fine, except for one problem. I would like the quicksearch to run when the page is loaded. I have created a second quicksearch function (which is called when the page is loaded) and changed the bind to something else, but it won't work on "load" or "ready". If I change the bind to "focus" and put the focus onto the textfield it works, but only in IE. The reason I want to do this is because there is a "view" link where the user leaves the page. When they come back, I would like the search results to be as they left them.

• How do you get good line spacing with lpr?

  I'm using lpr with the following flags: lpr -o cpi=12 -o lpi=8 -o page-left=36 -o page-top=36 -o page-bottom=36 But the lines appear too close together. But if I decrease lpi to 6 or something, the font just gets taller. What I really want is control over the amount of space between the lines. My makeshift solution is to insert blank lines in the document using sed G, but ideally I would like to achieve 1.5 line spacing instead of full double-spaced. Is this possible?

• How to set ID of item when the item is not yet created..?

  I'll try to make myself clear with an example: Imagine an admin page to add a product to a database (product list). When I open the ADD ITEM page, the item is not yet created (not until I click the submit button), but let's say I want to add categories this product will appear in (with AJAX for example). When I run the AJAX script, i need to tell it which ID (my product) to put these categories in... How should I do this.? Is inserting a blank item in the database (to get mysql_insert_id) when the page opens a good way to do this.? Is it prone to conflicts or errors..? How do you guys do it.?

  I have an object that I'm populating from a selection off a table row that a user selects. I have a jQuery function that captures the click event and a hidden form field populates an id I need. However, I'm not sure as to the proper way to send off that object to a struts2 action? The only problem is that I want to have a 1900px wide banner half way down the page that is centered in the middle and is 100% width of the page. • Remotely Schedule and Stream Recorded TV in Windows 7 Media Center

  Have you ever been away from home and suddenly realized you forgot to record your favorite program? Now Windows 7 Media Center, users can schedule recordings remotely from their phones or mobile devices with Remote Potato. How it Works Remote Potato installs server software on the host computer running Windows 7 Media Center. Once the software is installed, we’ll need to do some port forwarding on the router and setup an optional dynamic DNS address. When setup is completed, we will access the application through a web based interface. Silverlight is required for Streaming recorded TV, but scheduling recordings can be done through an HTML interface. Installing Remote Potato Download and install Remote Potato on the Media Center PC. (See download link below) If you plan to stream any Recorded TV, you’ll also want to install the streaming pack located on the same page. It isn’t required to stream all shows, only shows that require the AC3 audio codec. Click Yes to allow Remote Potato to add rules to the Windows Firewall for remote access. You’ll likely need to accept a few UAC prompts. When notified that the rules were added, click OK. Remote Potato will then prompt you to allow administrator privileges to reserve a URL for it’s web server. Click Yes. Remote Potato server will start. Click on the configuration button at the right to to reveal the settings tabs.   One the General tab, you’ll have the option to run Remote Potato on startup and minimized in the System Tray. If you’re running Media Center on a dedicated HTPC, you’ll probably want to enable both startup options. Forwarding Ports on Your Router You’ll need to forward a couple ports on your router. By default, these will be ports 9080 and 9081. In this example we’re using a Linksys WRT54GL router, however, the steps for port forwarding will vary from router to router. On the Linksys configuration page, click on the Applications & Gaming Tab, and then the Port Range Forward tab. Under Application, type in a name of your choosing. In both the Start and End boxes, type the port number 9080. Enter the local IP address of your Media Center computer in the IP address column. Click the check box under Enable. Repeat the process on the next line, but this time use port 9081. When finished, click the Save Settings button. Note: It’s highly recommended that you configure the home computer running Media Center & Remote Potato with a static IP address.   Find your IP Address You’ll need to find the IP address assigned to your router from your ISP. There are many ways to do this but a quick and easy way is to visit a site like checkip.dyndns.org (link available below) The current external IP address of your router will be displayed in the browser.   Dynamic DNS This is an optional step, but  it’s highly recommended. Many routers, such as the Linksys WRT54GL we are using, support Dynamic DNS (DDNS). What Dynamic DNS allows you to do is affiliate your home router’s external IP address to a domain name. Every time your home router is assigned a a new IP address by your ISP, the domain name is updated to point to your new IP address. Remote Potato’s user interface is accessed over the Internet is by connecting to your router’s IP address followed by a colon and the port number. (Ex: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:9080) Instead of constantly having to look up and remember an IP address, you can use DDNS along with a 3rd party provider like DynDNS.com, to sign up for a free domain name and configure it to be updated each time your router is assigned a new IP address. Go to the DynDNS.com website (See link at the end of the article) and sign up for a free Domain name. You’ll need to register and confirm by email.   Once you’ve signed in and selected your domain name click Activate Services. You’ll get a confirmation message that your domain name has been activated.    On the Linksys WRT54GL click on the Setup tab an then DDNS. Select DynDNS.org, or TZO.com if you prefer to use their service, from the drop down list.   With DynDNS, you’ll need to fill in your username and password you signed up with at the DynDNS website and the hostname you chose. Note: You can connect over your local network with the IP Address of the computer running Remote Potato followed by a colon and the port number. Ex: 192.168.1.2:9080 Logging in Remote Potato and Recording a Show Once you connect, you’ll see the start page. To view the TV listings, click on TV Guide. You’ll then see your guide listings. There are a few ways to navigate the listings. At the top left, you can click on any of the preset time buttons to jump to  the listings at that time of the day.  Click on the arrows to the right and left of the day and date at the top center to proceed to the previous or next day. Or, jump to a specific day with the date and date buttons at the top right.   To setup a recording, click on a program.   You can choose to record the individual show or the entire series by clicking on Record Show or Record Series.   Remote Potato on Mobile Devices Perhaps the coolest feature of Remote Potato is the ability to schedule recording from your phone or mobile device. Note: For any devices or computers without Silverlight, you will be prompted to view the HTML page. Select Browse Listings. Select your program to record. In the Program Details, select Record Show to record the single episode or Record Series to record all instances of the series. You will then see a red dot on the program listing to indicate that the show is scheduled for recording.   Streaming Recorded TV Click on Recorded TV from the home screen to access your previously recorded TV programs. Click on the selection you wish to stream. Click on Play. If you receive this error message, you’ll need to install the streaming pack for Remote Potato. This is found on the same download page as installation files. (See link below) The Begin from slider allows you to start playback from the start (by default) or a different time of the program by moving the slider. The Quality (bitrate) setting  allows you to choose the quality of the playback. We found the video quality on the Normal setting to be pretty lousy, and Low was just pointless. High was the best overall viewing experience as it provided smooth quality video playback. We experienced significant stuttering during playback using the Ultra High setting.   Click Start when you are ready to begin. When playback begins you’ll see a slider at the top right.   Move the slider left or right to increase or decrease the size of the video. There’s also a button to switch to full screen.   Media Center users who travel frequently or are always on the go will likely find Remote Potato to be a blessing. Since being released earlier this year, updates for Remote Potato have come fast and furious. The latest beta release includes support for streaming music and photos.   I decided to create web page and for that purpose I find out that I can use wix.com portal. My knowledge of HTML,CSS is on basic level. So I want to ask what are pros and cons of creating webPages using WIX to compare with making your on your own (writing code by yourself). One of the questions is: can I put custom advertisements to the my page. Also would appreciate of suggestions what portal is better for wix.com or weebly.com or for good website I should choose codding by myself? Finally, would be nice to get any suggestions in this field.
