• Dispatcher.CheckAccess() isn't working from my console application, is there a better way.

  I wrote an application in WPF / VB and separated the business logic and UI into different projects. The business layer uses a serial port which runs on a different thread, Now that I'm trying to write a command line interface for the same business layer, it seems to fail when .Invoke() is called. (no error, just doesn't work) I'm pretty sure the reason I had to add in checkaccess and .invoke was because I have collections that would be changed during processing the serial port data and wanted the NotifyCollectionChanged to be handled by WPF data binding. (The reason I'm not 100% sure is because it was months ago I wrote that part and it all worked great from the GUI, now adding the console app has made me rethink some of this) I would like my business layer to run these processes on the thread they were created, I need this to work from both my GUI version and the command line version. Am I misusing the Dispatcher in my business layer? Is there a better way to handle an event from the serial port, and then return to the main thread to processes the data?

  i am learning Java at the moment and have the following question: i am adding my controls to JFrame and then pack() before displaying. this runs the application and all is very nice. i was wondering is there a way to stop the user from resizing the application window? also is there a way to for the image in JLabel to expand as the user changes the application window? at the moment i have it as: constraints.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH; constraints.anchor = GridBagConstraints.CENTER; and it only centers the image, i would like to be able to expand/shrink the image. thanks.

My sudo users (for which their entry in sudoers file) should be able to access other user's account say Oracle using following command: sudo su - Oracle The above should work with giving current users password. But if the same user is firing the following command, sudo su - it shouldn't work and thus root access shouldnt be given to current user. • Align/Wrap images around div

  What I'm trying to achieve is a page with a div centered in the middle of the screen (720x360). This is done with jQuery using $(window).height() and $(window).width() and works perfectly. The next part is getting 180x180 images to fit around that middle div. These will fill the screen + beyond. I'm stuck on how to get these to align that way and I couldn't find a live example of anyone doing the same thing. So, is this even possible? Thanks, Any help is appreciated!

  Hi - I have this script on my html page: parent.resizeTo(550,510); I'd like to add to it so it positions the window in the middle of the screen. Also, I want to remove the address and tool bars (I've managed to hide the scrollbars by using body{overflow:hidden;}). I know how to do this using JS upon opening a new window from the browser but this needs to work from clicking a link on a PDF. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

  I have a canvas element with a drawing in it, and I want to create a button that when clicked on, it will save the image as a png file. So it should open up the save, open, close dialog box...   Youtube video does not show up in a modal window when viewed in a desktop version of Chrome.   this is my situation. I'm writing an webinterface in codeigniter to send commands to a virtual server. these commands are passed through the browser in an url. example : http://server.com/TgtSendIRCommand?id=UM-02&code=KEY_UP this server then takes action and the web interface refreshes the screenshot. i just want to have a bunch of links in html that send this command to the browser. But if i click the links, the user has to stay on the same page. So the command is sended but there is no other interaction. i am using codeigniter. Any suggestions ?

• Why can't I view a directory in Linux?

  I am setting up a Linux web server running apache. I uploaded and untared my web sites files. The files in the main directory are all visible when I am SSH'd into the system. However, I am blocked from all subdirectories. If I write: # cd images Then I get the error: -bash: cd: images: Permission denied I am signed in as ec2-user. I untarred the stuff as ec2-user and I doubt there was any permissions in the tar file since I created the archive on a Windows system. The weird thing is that I am the owner of this directory. Here is a snippet of the command: ls -l drw-rw-r-- 19 ec2-user ec2-user 4096 May 4 04:09 images When I do "sudo su" and then type the command cd images everything is fine. Why do I get "Permission denied" as ec2-user if I am the owner and have rw permission?

• How to make content take up 100% of height and width

  I'm so close but I can't get this to work like I want it. I'm trying to get the header and the menu to always be visible and have the content take up the rest of the view screen and have it's own scrollbar when it overflows. The problem is that the width of the content isn't being stretched to the right and I get a scroll bar in the middle of my page. I also can't get it to take up the rest of the remaining window height, if I set the height to 100% it wants to use the whole window height instead of what is left.   How to get a warning massage if i accidently click the close button of the chrome browser which have multiple tabs opened at that time? I am a regular user of Crome and having this problem while using it. I normally open multiple tabs inside a single browser but sometimes i accidently click the close button of browser and as soon as the button is clicked crome does't give any warning issue about multiple active tabs and close the entire window. Is the end user like me is browsing on normal crome window then he can open the websites again by checking the web history but if he is browsing inside private browser then he can't do anything(this happens with me very regularly because i normally browse in private browser). On the other hand if you accidently click the close button in mozilla which have multiple tabs open it throws a warning massage to the user and asks for his wish.

  I'm pretty new to vim, and I'm having a hard time understanding some subtleties with vim scripting. Specifically, I'm having trouble working with commands that expect an unquoted-string (is there a name for this?). For example cd some/unquoted/string/path The problem is that I'd like to pass a variable, but calling let pathname = 'some/path' cd pathname will try to change the current directory to 'pathname' instead of 'some/path'. One way around this is to use let cmd = 'cd ' . pathname execute cmd but this seems a bit roundabout. This StackOverflow question actually uses cd with a variable, but it doesn't work on my system ("a:path" is treated as the path as described above). I'm using cd as a specific example, but this behavior isn't unique to cd; for example, the edit command also behaves this way. (Is there a name for this type of command?)

  I'm trying to setup Jenkins on my mac mini in order to pull my iOS project source code from BitBucket and build it automatically. I've already gone through the major well know problems generating the ssh keys,uploading them in BitBucket,performing an ssh connection by console for adding the host to the well know list (you can find all my adventure here and here). Now,there are 3 user in my system: A,B and Shared. When I installed Jenkins it automatically placed itself in Shared, but I generated the ssh keys with the user A. So just to be clear In the A home directory there is an .ssh directory with public and private keys.   Summary H.264 video seems to have a really high frame rate that requires a scaling factor to the applied to the duration of video that I'm trying to extract (900x lower). Body I'm trying to extract a clip from a movie that I have in MP4 format (created using Handbrake). After trying mencoder and VLC, I decided to give FFmpeg a shot since it was the least troublesome when it came to copying the codecs. That is, compared to mencoder and VLC, the resulting file was still playable in QuickTime (I know about Perian, etc, I'm just trying to learn how all this works). So, to test this, I ran the ffmpeg command with -t 00:00:01. What I got was exactly a 15:00 minute clip. So I did some black box engineering and decided to scale my -t option by calculating what value to enter given that 1 second was interpreted as 900 s. For my desired 359 s clip, I calculated 0.399 s and so my ffmpeg command became: ffmpeg -ss 01:15.51 -t 00:00:00.399 -i outofsight.mp4 \ -acodec copy -vcodec copy clip.mp4 This works, but I have no idea why the duration is scaled by 900. Investigating further, each ffmpeg run has the line: Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 45000.00 (45000/1) -> 25.00 (25/1) 45000/25 = 1800. Must be a relation somewhere. Somehow, the obscenely high frame rate is causing issues with the timing. How is that frame rate so high? The best part about this is that the resulting clip.mp4 has the exact same feature (due to the copied video codec), and taking further clips from this needs the same scaling for the -t duration option. Therefore, I've made it available for anyone willing to check this out. • How to use Bonjour?

  First, what exactly Bonjour does (pleas read my guesses written bellow)? Here I found out that Bonjour enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks. But I thought that it not only "discovers devices on IP network" it also creates an IP network by assigning IP addresses to devices where Bonjour is running. Am I right? And I still miss the essence. Does it work in the following way? First I connect devices (for example laptops) physically so that they potentially can communicate with each other. Then, let say, on some laptops I have Bonjour running and then, as a consequence, these laptops assign IP addresses to them self in automatic way. So, laptops (where Bonjour is running) build an IP network. Does it work in this way? Or may be a computer running Bonjour is not considered as a service and it does not broadcast itself just because Bonjour is running on this computer. I mean that the applications running on the computers need to use Bonjour to broadcast themself. So, it is applications that broadcast themself (not computers) and it is not done automatically (application needs to broadcast themself explicitly). Is it right? How exactly my application can broadcast itself? Can I use command line to register an service (so that all applications using Bonjour knows that a new service appeared)? Further, I would like to have an application which use the IP network created by Bonjour. For that my application needs to know which devices/services are present in the network. In more details, my application needs to have a list of services. Each service in the list should have a name, the IP address where it is running and the port which is used by the application. Can Bonjour provide this information in some way? If it is the case, how exactly it works. How my program can get this information from Bonjour? Can my program read some file created by Bonjour and containing the above mentioned information? Can I use some commands in command line to retrieve this information? I have a special interest in accessing the information about services from files, environment variables or commands in command line. These options seems to me to be the simplest! Since in these case I do not need to use any additional libraries to communicate with Bonjour from a particular programming language. P.S. Pleas ask questions if something is not clear in my question. I will try to formulate my question in a more clear way. P.P.S. I use Windows 7. ADDED: I plan to write my applications in PHP. Every computer should run a Apache web server. And I want to use Bonjour to help computer discover each other (computers are working in a local network).

• Locating Rogue Perl Script

  I've been trying to source the location of a perl script which is causing havoc on a server which i control. I'm also trying to find out exactly how this script was installed on the server - my best guess is through a wordpress exploit. The server is a basic web setup running Ubuntu 9.04, Apache and MySQL. I use IPTables for firewall, the site runs around 20 sites and the load never really creeps above 0.7. From what i can see the script is making outbound connection to other servers (most likely trying to brute force entry). Either by disabling outbound SSH or any IP Tables rules etc... these scripts have been running for around 36 hours now and my main concern is to stop these things running and respawning by themselves. Secondly i need to try and source where and how these scripts have been installed. If anybody has any advise on what to look for in access logs or anything else i would be really grateful.
