• Annoying Blank pop-up window go away

  Hi All, Sorry about the wording for my question title. I have a basic HTML anchor tag that when clicked it is suppose to bring up a dialog box to download a file from a differnt website. I am using an attribute of target="_blank" so that when my hyperlink is clicked, I don't navigate away from my main window. This is all the easy part (if it was so easy I wouldnt be here though). When I do the above though, and click on the hyperlink, an annoying blank window pops up with my download dialog box behind it. How do I get rid of that annoying blank window and keep only my download dialog box on the screen? • android call log like design

  I'm trying to create a design for a list that looks like (and mostly behaves like) the call log, like shown here: I don't need all the design, but what I'm trying to achieve is the two-columned design with the splitter in-between, and the behavior that if I click on the main item (the left part) one thing happens (in this case, you open some details about the call), and if you press the outer right part something else happens (you call the contact). I'm pretty new to android, but I've managed to do most of the designs I wanted so far, so I don't need the entire layout for this one, only the part that does the splitting and the splitter. And if possible it would be nice to know how to map the clicks appropriately, though I think I might be able to find that out by my self.

• How to re-focus to a text field when focus is lost on a HTML form?

  There is only one text field on a HTML form. Users input some text, press Enter, submit the form, and the form is reloaded. The main use is barcode reading. I use the following code to set the focus to the text field: <script language="javascript"> <!-- document.getElementById("#{id}").focus() //--> </script> It works most of the time (if nobody touches the screen/mouse/keyboard). However, when the user click somewhere outside the field within the browser window (the white empty space), the cursor is gone. One a single field HTML form, how can I prevent the cursor from getting lost? Or, how to re-focus the cursor inside the field after the cursor is lost? thx!

  I'd like to control iTunes through Objective-C ( I just can't get Python appscript installed correctly on my OS/X 10.6.3 system ... that would have been my first choice ). From what I gather, the IPC on Cocoa is based on Apple Events : is there either: Online documentation on iTunes / Apple Events API ? Instrospection mechanism to get to iTunes API? I know about Applescript Editor / Open Dictionary functionality but I can't figure out how to translate the information I see into IPC calls. Note: I have already tried working out a solution through PyObjC but the main function I am after is track searching which I can't figure out. Disclaimer: OS/X super-newbie here.

But with .NET Framework 4 and In-Process Side-by-Side the main reason not to write shell extensions in managed code should be resolved. With that said, I have three questions. Is it now okay to write shell extensions in managed code? Which problems, if any might there be with writing shell extensions in managed code? What reasons might there be to write shell extensions in unmanaged code?

• ListView adapter data change without ListView being notified

  I've written a ListActivity that has a custom list adapter. The list is being updated from a ContentProvider when onCreate is run. I also have a service that gets started when I run the app and it first updates the ContentProvider, then sends a Broadcast that the content has been updated. My ListActivity recieves the broadcast and tries to update my ListView. My problem is, I'm getting intermittent errors about the ListView adapter data changing without the ListView being notified. I call the notifyDataSetChanged() method on my list adapter right after I update it. What it seems like is happening is the list is still in the process of being updated after first call in onCreate when it recieves the broadcast from the service to update, so it tries to update my ListView before it's finished updating from it's first run. Does this make sense? Here is some of my code.   I'm trying to wire together Guice (Java), Quartz scheduler and iBatis (iBaGuice) to do the following: Start command line utility-scanner using main() Periodically scan directory (provided as argument) for files containing formatted output (XML or YAML) When file is detected, parse and output result to the database The problems: I used this example to wire Guice and Quartz. However I'm missing some important details which I'm asking in the comments but the post is somewhat dated so I'm quoting it here also: It's not obvious how to set-up the scheduler. Where and how would I wire the Trigger (I can use Trigger#makeMinutelyTrigger)? I really have just one type of job I will be executing, I understand that details in the JobFactory#newJob are coming from the TriggerFiredBundle parameter but where/how do I wire that? And where/how do I create or wire concrete Job?

• How can I get a view of favorite user documents by user in Couchdb map/reduce?

  My Couchdb database as a main document type that looks something like: { "_id" : "doc1", "type" : "main_doc", "title" : "the first doc" ... } There is another type of document that stores user information. I want users to be able to tag documents as favorites. Different users can save the same or different documents as favorites. My idea was to introduce a favorite document to track this something like: { "_id" : "fav1", "type" : "favorite", "user_id" : "user1", "doc_id" : "doc1" } It's easy enough to create a view with user_id as the key to get a list of their favorite doc IDs. E.g: function(doc) { if (doc.type == "favorite") { emit(doc.user_id, doc.doc_id); } } However I want to list of favorites to display the user_id, doc_id and title from the document. So output something like: { "key" : "user1", "value" : ["doc1", "the first doc"] }

  Hello everybody, I am trying to read the output of a shell command into a string buffer, the reading and adding the values is ok except for the fact that the added values are every second line in the shell output. for example, I have 10 rows od shell output and this code only stores the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, row . • Return/consume dynamic anonymous type across assembly boundaries

  The code below works great. If the Get and Use methods are in different assemblies, the code fails with a RuntimeBinderException. This is because the .Net runtime system only guarantees commonality of anonymous types (<string, int> in this case) within assemblies. Is there any way to fool the runtime system to overcome this? • How to do a pop-up window with textfields in Objective-C?

  In the iPhone Objective-C app, I want to pop-up a window (which is smaller than the main view, and the app does not stop running) when a button is tapped, with textField for the user to input text, and dismiss it when it is done. This is widely used but I really cannot google the relevant content out. What view should I use to connect it with the button? AlertView (which seems you cannot add dialogue in), ModalView? Are there relevant info somewhere? Thanks.

  About three hours ago I started seeing the above error in my production server. It comes from a call to the sanitize gem: vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:276:in 'load_missing_constant' vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:468:in `const_missing' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:91:in `clean!' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:84:in `clean' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:49:in `clean' app/helpers/application_helper.rb:28:in `display_none' app/views/main/_blogs.html.erb:13:in `_run_erb_47app47views47main47_blogs46html46erb' The error only occurs on the production server (linux), not my development machine (windows) I tried rolling back my latest deployment but it didn't fix it. I've updated to sanitize 1.2.0 (which was the latest version brought down by gem update sanitize, though I note my host is running 1.3.6. Can anyone provide any clues to help fix this?

  Hi guys, I have tried to take apart the code, but can't seem to replicate it. On the BBC weather homepage, http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/, you will see a little help quetionmark in a circle in the top right corner or some of the boxes. When you click on it, it brings up a nice help popup, that looks a little like facebox. The main thing I like about this, is the little arrow that points back to the help button to the right of the container. Facebox is just a standard square. If anyone knows how to replicate this, some help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Ian

  Here's what I'm doing (sorry for the variable names, I'm not using those in my code): File.open("out_file_1.txt", "w") do |out_1| File.open("out_file_2.txt", "w") do |out_2| File.open_and_process("in_file_1.txt", "r") do |in_1| File.open_and_process("in_file_2.txt", "r") do |in_2| while line_1 = in_1.gets do line_2 = in_2.gets #input files have the same number of lines #process data and output to files end end end end end The open_and_process method is just to open the file and close it once it's done. It's taken from the pickaxe book. Anyway, the main problem is that the code is nested too deeply. I can't load all the files' contents into memory, so I have to iterate line by line. Is there a better way to do this? Or at least prettify it?

• Oracle Hash Cluster Overflow Blocks

  When inserting a large number of rows into a single table hash cluster in Oracle, it will fill up the block with any values that hash to that hash-value and then start using overflow blocks. These overflow blocks are listed as chained off the main block, but I can not find detailed information on the way in which they are allocated or chained. When an overflow block is allocated for a hash value, is that block exclusively allocated to that hash value, or are the overflow blocks used as a pool and different hash values can then start using the same overflow block. How is the free space of the chain monitored - in that, as data is continued to be inserted, does it have to traverse the entire chain to find out if it has some free space in the current overflow chain, and then if it finds none, it then chooses to allocate a new block?

  I have a server that connects to multiple clients using TCP/IP connections, using C in Unix. Since it won't have more than 20 connections at a time, I figured I would use a thread per connection/socket. But the problem is writing to the sockets as I'll be sending user prompted msgs to clients. Once each socket is handled by a thread, how do I interact with the created thread to write to the sockets? Should each thread just read from the sockets and I'll write to sockets in the main program? Not sure if that's a good way to go about it.

• Batch file to wait for other program to load/initialize, then execute command?

  I need some assistance writing what should be a fairly basic .BAT file. I load my main program, but that program takes ~20secs to load and be initialized. I have another command-line API I can execute to interact with this above program, but obviously until the above program is loaded and initialized there's no point in trying. If the program isn't running the command-line API returns a string stating exactly this - otherwise it just works and exits. Easy. So I want to wait until the above is loaded/initialized before firing my API command(s) at it. I could place a sleep/wait in there, but I want something more solid. The ~20sec wait is not necessarily consistent. Any way to execute the command-line API over and over until the response is satisfactory, then exit? J

  I can't get spring annotations to work at all, I'm just trying to get the simplest thing to work... .../mycontext/something - invokes method: @RequestMapping(value = "/something") @ResponseBody public String helloWorld() { System.out.println("hello world"); return "Hello World"; } My main problem is no matter how hard I try, I can't find a complete SIMPLE example of the configuration files needed, every spring tutorial is filled with junk, I just one one controller to handle a request with a mapping and can't get it to work does anyone know of a simple and complete spring example. pet-clinic is no good, it's way too complicated, I have a tiny basic use case and it's proving to be a real pain to get working (this always happens with Spring)
