Hi guys, I would like to install Visual Studio 2008 and MS SQL Server 2008 on Ubuntu OS which I have in my PC, however, I don't know how. May I have some tips please? Thanks.
I have attempted bringing up a new farm and performing a stsadm backup/restore with no success. I have also tried doing a stsadm export/import with similar results.
I need to migrate/copy PWA to another server for testing purposes and I am at a standstill.
What is the best method to accomplish this?
How to format a date in sql sevrer with format dd-mm-yyyy to some other format without using convert function.
Is it there any such function in sql server 2008 or 2005
I think in the past python scripts would run off CGI, which would create a new thread for each process.
I am a newbie so I'm not really sure, what options do we have?
Is the web server pipeline that python works under any more/less effecient than say php?
I once needed the lines of the stored procedures, to be able to trace whether i have a reference to some function, procedure or table, or sometimes to try to find something inside of the sp's code. Where does the sql server stores the procedures's code?
I have a WHS Addin, and I now want to do some cleanup whenever the Windows Home Server Console is closed.
I have tried the Application.ApplicationExit event, but it seems it doesn't get fired.
Any ideas?
Hello,
I have, let's say, a root website with mysql db on a remote server.
I want to connect to that particular database (to make queries), from many other little websites (with lower priviledges).
Can this be done?
Language: jsp,java,php
Thank you
SQL Server 2008 is telling me to include the Primary Key in an index in the Included Column field. I thought the PK was automagically returned with all indexes?
So SQL Server 2008 in Hyper-V is a supported configuration, and should perform well as long as you use fixed or pass-through disks and increase your processor/memory settings appropriately. My question is can I use snapshots as a reliable backup mechanism, or should I use the tried and trusted maintenance plan to do my backups?
Hi guys,
In SQL Server, how do I know what transaction mode I'm currently using? Such as autocommit, explicit, or implicit. And how can I change one mode to another using tsql?
Great thanks.
Hi,
I have a project in C# with a Sql-server Database.
In that database I have a table named 'Process' and columns named 'process_name', 'Full_Name' and 'Version' (all of the type:nvarchar(50)).
I want to write a query wich will add the new process, only if it doesn't exist in the table yet.
How can I do that?
Many thanks,
I have about 50 T-SQL files, some of them are 30MB but some of them are 700MB. I thought on executing them manually, but if the file is bigger than 10MB it throws an out of memory exception on the SQL Server Management Studio.
Any ideas?
Hi,
Is it possible to get the query result in .CSV file format from SQL SERVER 2000 and above versions?
If so can we use this feature from an asp.net application to get the result in CSV format?
If so how can we do this?
In older versions of Windows, it was just open the Control Panel, select the System applet, select the Advanced tab, and then hit the Environment variables button. As a normal user, you could edit the "User variables" but not the "System variables".
In Windows Server 2008 R2, if I try to hit the Advanced System settings option in the System applet, it prompts for the Administrator password.
I am working on a big application on SQL Server 2008 with 60 000 stored procedures and over 10 000 tables. Is there a tool through which I can do impact analysis to find out all SPs doing a DML on a table?
When connecting to sql server, I have the hardcoded string "(local)". Is this a string I need to make available for localisation? ie, does (local) always work no matter the current language settings?
When we have a column that will store a username that will only accept letters and numbers we always do validation on this input field using javascript or even server validation from code .. but i want to know if is there any way that can allow me make this validation on the Table column itself even some one try to enter data from any place it don't accept and throw exception ?
IN SQL Server 2008 is there a way to generate a report as to how much space on disk each table takes?
I can do it one by one by checking the storage properties, but I was wondering if there was a way, maybe even a query to generate such a report.
Hi guys,
In SQL Server, how can I separate a large number of tsql statement into batches? Should I use the GO statement in stored procedures or functions? Should I use the GO statement in explicit transaction management situation(between BEGIN TRANSACTION and ROLLBACK TRANSACTION or COMMIT TRANSACTION)?
Are there some best practice about this topic?
Great thanks in advance.
I have a fairly complicated mathematical function that I've been advised should be implemented as a User Defined Function in SQL Server so that it can be used efficiently from within a SQL query.
The problem is that it must be very efficient as it may be executed thousands of times per second, and I subsequently heard that UDFs are very inefficient.
Someone suggested that I could implement the function in C# instead, and that this would be much more efficient.
What should I do?
