    I have created a custom Library under Windows 7 64bit professional to handle my source code. When I tried Windows Backup and Restore for the first time I get the following error Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Source. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)) I've found a thread on the error on the Microsoft answers site. But it appears to be 404 (there is a version in Google's Cache) and the thread starter never gets an answer to his issue that works. The official Microsoft answer on this is This problem is due to one or more profiles under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList with missing ProfileImagePath. To check whether you have missing profiles: Open regedit, navigate to the above registry key. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList). Expand the list Click on each of the profiles listed. The first 3 profiles should have ProfileImagePath value of %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\SystemProfile, %SystemRoot%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService, and %SystemRoot%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService respectively. Starting from the 4th profile, the ProfileImagePath should contain path to the user profiles on your machine, such as C:\users\Christine If one or more of the profile has no profile image, then you have missing profiles. To work around this, delete the profile in question (Caution: The registry contains critical settings that are necessary for your system to function properly. Take extra caution while making changes) First, export the ProfileList key for safekeeping. (Right click on the key, choose “Export”, and save it to the desktop.) Right click on the profile in question, choose delete. Try backup again. This does not work for me. Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

  • Problem posting multipart form data using Apache with mod_proxy to a mongrel instance

    I am attempting to simulate my site's production environment as closely as I can on my local machine. This is a rails site that uses Apache w/ mod_proxy to forward requests to a mongrel cluster. On my Mac OSX Leopard machine, I have the default install of apache running and have configured a vhost to use mod_proxy to to forward requests to a local running mongrel instance on port 3000. <Proxy balancer://mongrel_cluster-development> BalancerMember http://127.0.0.1:3000 </Proxy> For the most part, this is working fine. I can browse my development site using the ServerName of the vhost I configured and can confirm that requests are being properly forwarded to the mongrel instance. However, there is a page on the site that has a multipart form that is used to upload an image to the server. When I post this form, there is a delay of about 5 minutes and the browser ultimately returns a Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. In the error log for my vhost: [Tue Sep 22 09:47:57 2009] [error] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: proxy: prefetch request body failed to 127.0.0.1:3000 (127.0.0.1) from ::1 () This same form works fine if I browse directly to the mongrel instance (http://127.0.0.1:3000). Anybody have any idea what the problem might be and how to fix it? If there is any important information that I neglected to include, post a comment, and I can add to this question. Note: Upon further investigation, this appears to be a problem specific to Safari. The form works fine in Firefox.

  • Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement during installation

    Hi, I am running Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition R2 x64 and I installed SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. All of the preliminary checks run fine (Apart from a warning about Windows Firewall and opening ports which is unrelated to this and shouldn't be an issue - I can open those ports). Half way through the actual installation, I get a popup with this error: Could not continue scan with NOLOCK due to data movement. The installation still runs to completion when I press ok. However, at the end, it states that the following services "failed": database engine services sql server replication full-text search reporting services How do I know if this actually means that anything from my installation (which is on a clean Windows Server setup - nothing else on there, no previous SQL Servers, no upgrades, etc) is missing? I know from my programming experience that locks are for concurrency control and the Microsoft help on this issue points to changing my query's lock/transactions in a certain way to fix the issue. But I am not touching any queries? Also, now that I have installed the app, when I login, I keep getting this message: TITLE: Connect to Server Cannot connect to MSSQLSERVER. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.     Getting a really wierd error. One of the developers tried to install Windows 2008 as a Virtual PC. He has also run windows update. When he tries to install dotnet framework 3.5 SP1 he gets the following error: [09/25/09,12:48:26] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS). MSI returned error code 1 [09/25/09,12:48:34] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0SP1 (CBS) is not installed. I though that dotnet framework was installed automatically with windows update on windows 2008. So how could it be missing? Thanks. Shiraz EDIT We also have the same problem on a VPC that had dotnet framework 3.5 installed and working OK. I have tried removing all versions of dotnet framework, using the following clean up tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx I then downloaded and tried to install dotnet framework 2.0 SP1, from this location: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?familyid=79BC3B77-E02C-4AD3-AACF-A7633F706BA5&displaylang=en The error I now get is: "This product is not supported on the Vista Operating System" EDIT Thanks for the help, have given an up vote to everyone. In the end our problem was that we had installed Windows Server 2008 from an older ISO image, on this everything worked fine untill we tried to install framework 3.5 SP1. We reinstalled Windows from a new image, and it worked OK.

(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5120) Background to this error I've been trying to move my destination logshipping database to another physical server for analysis purposes. Because I do not have active directory set up, I had to hack my process by using the same username/password for both the source and destination servers to get the process to work. Following that, I used this guy's solution to move the destination database to another server. However, this error occurs when I try to bring the database back online. I don't have an E drive on my server and I have no idea why it's trying to open a file from E drive. I have over a 100gb left on my hard disk so it's definitely not a space issue. This sounds like a bug... Any ideas? I'm running SQL Server 2008 Enterprise edition on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit

    I have a domain that i bought from DynDNS. I pointed the domain at my ip adress so i can run servers. The problem I have is that I don't live near the server computer... Can I use an ssh tunnel?   • Need to link WP Blog with Rails App on Heroku

    I have a client who wants to migrate his Rails app to Heroku. However the client also has a blog associated with his domain that runs on WordPress. Currently, the WordPress blog is running happily alongside the Rails app, but once we migrate to Heroku, that clearly won't be possible. The url for the app is like http://mydomain.com, and the url for the blog is like http://mydomain/blog. I realize that the best long-term solution is to redo the blog in a Rails format like Toto or Jekyll. But in the short term, what is the best way to continue hosting the WP blog where it is (or somewhere) but use Heroku to run the app? The client doesn't want the blog to be on a subdomain, but to remain at mydomain/blog for SEO reasons and also since there is traffic to the blog. I have two ideas: Use rack_rewrite or refraction (or just a regular old 301 and Apache mod_rewrite) on the old (non-Heroku) server to redirect the main url from the old site to Heroku. In this case, I can just leave the Wordpress blog running happily where it is. I think?? Is there a reason to choose one of those options (rack_rewrite, refraction, or mod_rewrite) over the others if I do it this way? Switch the DNS info to point to the Heroku site, and then use a 301 redirect from the blog to the old site. But then I'll have to get the old (non-Heroku) site on a subdomain and use some kind of rewrite rules anyway so it looks like it isn't a subdomain. Are either of these approaches preferable, or is there another way to do it that's easier that I'm missing?

    Basically, I'm having this issue: http://www.sqlcoffee.com/Troubleshooting047.htm What I'm doing is running a script I found online (http://pastebin.com/3n0ZfybL) to do a full backup, then rar'ing up the file and moving it to my computer. The CRC of the backup file inside the rar is correct on both computers, so there is no problem with data being corrupted when I transfer it. But then I go and try to restore the database on my dev computer here and I get the errors "sql server cannot process this media family" ... "msg 3013". Why is this happening? I'd test out the backup on the server I'm getting it from, but it's a production server.     On the official apple website it says that all Macbook pro batteries last for 7 hours, and 8 hours on the 17" macbook pro. However when I called my local apple retailer and asked him, he said the battery has a 'stand by' time of 7 hours, but if I were doing something like using an IDE to program and not watching videos, etc it could last upto 5-6 hours. When I asked him about why the official site says 7 hours, he said yes but he didn't want to lie to me, and actually the battery only lasts 5-6 hours. Does anyone who owns a macbook pro shed any light on this, such as how long the battery will actually last? I'll be buying a 15" macbook pro.

    Hi guys A small number of our sites intermediately experience an error that is a mystery to us. Our set up is: Windows Server 2003 IIS6 .NET 3.5 We have about 35 Websites running on IIS Each site has it's own App Pool Each App Pool has the identity: Network Service The symptom is: The Application Pool for a site stops, and when you browse to the site, you only see: SERVICE UNAVAILABLE In the Event Logs, we have one Error, that looks like this: Application pool 'AppPool1' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. And we have several Warnings leading up to the error, that look like this (note: the warnings look the same, except for the process id): A process serving application pool 'AppPool1' suffered a fatal communication error with the World Wide Web Publishing Service. The process id was '292'. The data field contains the error number. What's causing this? As I said, it doeasn't happen very often....the last time was about 6 months ago...and it usually happens with the same site/App pool. Any ideas? cheers!

(I'm not much interested in the ... part) Can I rely on this? And is there maybe some more-or-less official description? The manpage of syslogd describes the config format, but not the logfile format. Ideally, the description would give the fields official names like (date, time, host, entry) or (datetime, hostname, message). Maybe additionally some regular expressions. I'd like to use the names and regexes in my script, to avoid an unnecessary deviation from the standard, and to make sure, that the script runs everywhere. Thanks Chris

    I had a simple plone site running on my Ubuntu 8.10 box, setup by following instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/forum/server/Plone Now the computer got an Ubuntu 9.04 install from scratch, and I want to get the site up and running. As far as I understand several python libraries from 9,04 are not compatible with plone.   • Backup and Archive Strategy Question

    I am having trouble finding a backup strategy for our code assets that 'just works' without any manual intervention. Goal is to have an off-site backup (a synchronized one) so that when we check-in files, create builds, etc. to the network drive, the entire folder structure is automatically synchronized and backed-up (in real time, or 1x per day) at some off-site location so if our office blows up, we don't lose all of our data. I have looked into some online backup services, but have not yet had any success. Some are quirky/buggy, others limit file size and/or kinds of files (which doesn't work well for developer files). Everything gets checked in and saved to a single server (on a Raid Mirror), so we just need to have a folder on that server backed up/synchronized to some off-site location. So my question is this. What are you using for your off-site backup strategy. What software, system, or service? Is there a be-all/end-all system of backing up your code assets that I just haven't found yet? Thanks

    We have a small number of projects where we expect the client will not be maintaining the installed versions of applications we install to power the site (such as Drupal). Given that an important part of security is keeping things updated, we don't want to host these projects on our Plesk-powered dedicated servers that currently host lots of our other client's websites. Our goal is to find a host where we can deploy isolated instances (be these slices, virtual servers, grid servers, etc) for each individual (or groups of 2-3) web sites as we need them. These instances would be completely separate, so that if one web site were hacked it would not impact any other site. Typical hosting requirements: Linux Apache PHP 5 MySQL Supports Drupal Ability to setup a cron task (but we don't need SSH access) Daily backups Virtualized/cloud hosting (we want to avoid shared) Pricing per site is around $25/month OS is patched automatically Some options we have considered but won't work: MediaTemple: Two major data center-wide security incidents and recent downtime foster doubt about this host's technical ability. Slicehost: This would require us to manage the entire server, which we don't want to do. Rackspace Cloud Sites (formerly Mosso): No backup options. Do you have any recommended hosting options for given these requirements?

  • adding trac to apache2 configuration file

    I currently have apache2 running from a mythtv/mythweb install. This made two config files available in sites-enabled. One of them ("default-mythbuntu") has the VirtualHost directive and seems like a normal file (except a change to the directory index). There is also a mythweb.conf file that only has directives and sets various variables for mythweb. I want to host a trac site as well. According to this site: http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracOnUbuntu there are some setting I need to set for the Trac site. They give me directions for making a VirtualHost, but I think I should use the current VirtualHost and just add the directives (I'll need to change the default location they point to from the site above to just point to the trac location). Where should I put these directives? Can I make a Trac.conf with just the settings for Trac and enable it, or do I need to put them in the default-mythbuntu file? I don't like that later because it doesn't separate out the Trac configs. How does Apache know that the mythweb (and the trac.conf I want to make) belong to the virtualhost defined in the default-mythbuntu? It is the only virtualhost that is being defined on my system if that matters.

    I'm trying to bind a IIS web site (Team Foundation Services 2010) to a subdomain, which is causing authentication errors. First I'll explain what I've done to set it up. This is the fist time I do this, so please correct me if I'm wrong. The web server is a stand-alone Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, running IIS7 with .NET Framework 4. I have the following A-records, pointing to my server: server.mydomain.com *.server.mydomain.com So all subdomains of server.mydomain.com points to the server. In IIS7 I have a web site (TFS 2010) on port 8080, with a virtual directory (named tfs) that is using Windows Authentication. I have one binding on the web site pointing to all unassigned IP addresses, port 8080 and having a host name of tfs.server.mydomain.com. Now, shouldn't I be able to access the virtual directory through: http://tfs.server.mydomain.com/tfs That is not working. However, I can access it through: http://tfs.server.mydomain.com:8080/tfs But, it won't let me authenticate using a Windows account (Server\Username). A windows account that I can authenticate with, when accessing the site through http://localhost:8080/tfs. What am I missing here?

  • IIS7 - Web Deployment Tool - SetParam/SetParamFile to set http and https bindings + Cert

    Hi, we're currently using the MS Web Deployment Tool to sync a live website and some WebServices from a staging box to two live servers. The staging box hosts the site on any IP on port 17000, whereas the two live servers are load-balanced and have a different IP for each of them. At present, I generate two separate packages for deployment - one for each machine - using the sync operation and specifying a DestinationBinding parameter as follows: msdeploy -verb:sync -source:WebServer,computerName=localhost -dest:package="machinename.zip" -setParam:type="DestinationBinding",scope="SiteName",value="ip_address:port:". (Split across multiple lines to make it easier to read!) I run this twice, with a different target filename and ip address for each of the two machines. When it comes to deployment, I simply do a sync from each package to its respective live site. I know, I know - I should be able to do it by generating one parameterised package and then perhaps using the SetParamFile switch for each of the two Servers - believe me I'd like to, but the documentation on doing this is frankly non-existent. Now I need to configure and deploy both HTTP and HTTPS binding for this site; including also the ssl cert that is to be used. I've added an SSL binding for the site on the staging box - which uses a development cert (which will need to be replaced - or should the staging box be using the live cert?), and now the above command line has the effect of replacing the target IP on both http and https entries. It appears that I cannot specify multiple bindings plus the cert information in the DestinationBinding value in the -setParam above, so anyone know how would I go about doing this? Any help greatly appreciated.

  • What would cause an IIS6 website to be unavailable remotely randomly for a few minutes at a time?

    Website is served by iis6 on windows server 2003. Never saw this problem once for months in beta. We made the new site live yesterday - its getting more traffic than in beta but not that much - resource utilization on the server and speed are fine. Today the site has been unavailable remotely a few (4?) times for a few minutes at a time. If you visit any page on the site - nothing is ever returned and eventually the request times out. While this is happening - I can connect to the server via remote desktop and the site loads fine from the live url when running a browser on the server locally. Other websites on the server continiue to function fine the entire time (using the same instance of iis, different app pools). Other computers on the same network can't access the website either. Other than not serving content - the server seems to behave normally - scheduled jobs in our custom job system continue to run, etc. We've looked at the iis logs quickly and we don't see any traffic out of the ordinary - no traffic spikes, etc. Any ideas?
