  • Adding a new view to a Window-based app (re: MapKit tutorial)

    I'm trying add a new view in a window-based application but not really getting anywhere. I've been going through a great MapKit tutorial lately, http://mithin.in/2009/06/22/using-iphone-sdk-mapkit-framework-a-tutorial/ and have successfully set it up and added some further buttons and customizations. However I've gotten stuck at what I assume ought to be a brain-dead simple step. I have added a toolbar to the bottom of the app, and a 'settings' style button. Following this I created a SettingsViewController complete with it's own view. Now I'd like to connect them but I've had absolutely no luck trying to figure out how to do this. I've also gone through several other good tutorials lately, http://miketeo.net/wp/index.php/2008/08/31/simple-iphone-tutorial-part-1.html http://blog.webscale.co.in/?p=228 http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com/2009/01/uitableview-searching-table-view.html but I've gotten lost trying to tie these two bits together. I'm sure it is quite trivial to link these two items but I've had no luck.

  • Facebook Like not Pulling Title

    I am having some issues with the new facebook like button. It shows up fine, however for some reason it's not pulling the title of the page. I have the and I am using og:title, all are filled in, when I view the source of the iframe created on the load of he button, the in there is blank. I am also trying to put the tweetmeme and that's seeing that title and not the meta, or the normal page title.   • Why does Scala apply thunks automatically, sometimes?

    At just after 2:40 in ShadowofCatron's Scala Tutorial 3 video, it's pointed out that the parentheses following the name of a thunk are optional. "Buh?" said my functional programming brain, since the value of a function and the value it evaluates to when applied are completely different things. So I wrote the following to try this out. When I call runThunk(f), no hint is required. But when I 'alias' f to b with a val then apply it, it doesn't work: the evaluation happens in the val; and even lazy val works this way, so it's not the point of evaluation causing this behaviour.   That all leaves me with the question: Why does Scala sometimes automatically apply thunks when evaluating them? Is it, as I suspect, type inference? And if so, shouldn't a type system stay out of the language's semantics? Is this a good idea? Do Scala programmers apply thunks rather than refer to their values so much more often that making the parens optional is better overall? Examples written using Scala 2.8.0RC3, DrScheme 4.0.1 in R5RS.

  • asp.net custom templated datalist - throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. this all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. the problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments ... the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding etc. It sets all of the templates ont he datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). the exception gets throw when i hit one of these buttons .. but after the ItemCommand event is being processed. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why i am so stuck.   • Silverlight 4 desktop application sometimes zooms when touching it... and cannot zoom out

    Hi, I have a Silverlight 4 desktop application which I control using a touchscreen (on an HP Touchsmart). Most of the time it works fine but sometimes when clicking something everything just zooms in and every time it happens things get bigger and bigger. The only way to get the normal size again is by restarting the application. Has anybody got any idea what might be causing it ? Does not seem to happen in browser mode. Is there a way to prevent zooming? Thnx

    I've got a handful of products, any, all, or none of which may be associated with a specific submission. All 7 products are subclasses of the class Product. I need to store all the products associated with a submission, and then retrieve them and their field data on my presentation layer. I've been using a List, and List, but when I use the OfType, I throw an error saying that I can't implicitly convert systems.generic.IEnumerable to type 'Product'. I've tried to cast, but to no avail. When I use prodlist.OfType<EPL>(); there are no errors, but when I try and store that in an instance of EPL "tempEpl", I get the aforementioned cast-related error. What gives? Code below. For each product, there can be multiple product backlog entries, so I want to create a product view that shows the product information, all the backlog entries for the product, and includes a nested form for adding more backlog entries.   • Expand and overlap image over a grid of other images

    I've been fighting with jQuery all night and getting quite frustrated here, so forgive me if the answer was staring me in the face. I have a grid of 15 images contained within a <div>, and when I click on one of them, I want it to expand to three times its original size of 150x105 and overlap the rest. I've got the expanding down, but the overlapping isn't quite working.   • How to make Solution Explorer behave after clearing search?

    I currently have a VS installation with no extensions to see how that works out. For navigation that means making heavy use of Ctrl+; aka Search Solution Explorer. While the search itself is ok, it has one major drawback for me that makes it a pain to use for me (both with keyboard and mouse): Solution with two projects, one collapsed, one opened: Use Ctrl+; and start typing until match found from collapsed project What I want now is to simply clear the search and return to the previous view. Seems like a pretty standard requirement, no? But there seems to be no such functionality built in. Problem with the current commands that come close (pressing Esc, clicking Back or Home buttons in Solution Explorer Toolbar) is all the same: they have the extremely annoying behaviour that they insist on suddenly uncollapsing the previously collapsed project and track the match found! (Btw the Track Active Item in Solution Explorer option is turned of in the options). This makes no sense from a UX point of view? You select some kind of 'undo' command, the search box clears which is expected, but then suddenly there's an item visible from a previous search: So if the collapsed project has like 50 items in it, solution explorer is now useless visually since it litters the screen with stuff you don't want to see, and worse you have to manually collapse the project again to return to the previous view. Is there a way around this? I thought maybe keyboard shortcuts for Back/Home would be different, but the commands do not seem to be registered. I looked into EnvDTE80.DTE2.ToolWindows.SolutionExplorer but it has no properties/methods that have anything to do with this issue. And somewhere in the tree there is a Microsoft.VisualStudio.PlatformUI.SolutionPivotNavigator which is probably the class responsible for this behaviour, but I have no idea how to access it?

    Host Configuration: HP EliteBook 8530w 4G Ram Win7 Ultimate 64Bit RC SQL Server 2005 64bit Developer Edition Virtual: Windows Virtual PC 1G Ram allocated Integration Services installed Windows XP 64bit Up to date service packs and .Net framework through 3.5 SP1 Sharing the Gigabit network adapter of the Host I have a simple .Net console application which loads a dataset of approximately 37K rows. Running the application on the host executes in approximately 4 seconds. Running inside the virtual takes 729 seconds. The size of the application grows to about 65Mb when the dataset is finished loading, no calculated columns or event handlers are attached. [edit] I changed the virtual to use a loopback adapter to communicate with the host and performance is now on par with running on hardware. Any ideas as to why it would going over the network adapter be almost 200x longer? TraceRt shows that the connection is only one hop. Thanks, Shane Holder

    I wish to visualize the movement of a data point throughout space across a period of time within MATLAB. However, the way I want my figure to display is such that only a single instant is plotted at any given time. That was easy, I simply created a for loop to update my 3D plot display for every set of coordinates (x,y,z) in my data. However, I wish to display 4 different viewing angles of this plot at all times. I am well aware of how to setup subplots within MATLAB, that is not the issue. My issue is getting all 4 of these subplots to execute simultaneously so that all 4 subplots are always displaying the same point in time. I would appreciate if anyone could suggest how to handle this issue.   • mysql: can't set max_allowed_package to anything grater than 16MB

    I'm not sure if this is the right place to post these kind of questions, if it's not so, please (politely) let me know... :-) I need to save files greater than 16MB on a mysql database from a php site... I've copied this as is from an old version of the website, but I've changed the file structure (through to move to WordPress) so I suspect the variables might not even be reaching eventinfo.php in the first place... index.php is in wp-content/themes/cambridge and eventinfo.php is in wp-content/themes/yasmin/guestvibe but I've tried to avoid structuring issues by referencing the URL in full. Any ideas?

Problem is when I finish the activity, app crashes. What happened to the 0.5 values? Edit: As noted in the comments to Todd Gibson's answer, I also tried it with if(pz*uz,cast(left(pz,2)<=>left(lpad(uz,5,0),2) as decimal),.5) instead of if(pz*uz,left(pz,2)<=>left(lpad(uz,5,0),2),.5), but it, too, didn't work.
