• Handling 2 buttons submit Actions in a single View/Form - ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM

  I have a View in which the user is able to upload a file to the server. In this view I also have 2 buttons: one to Upload a file and other to Download the last file imported. In my Controller I created 2 action methods: Import and Export. How could I manage to redirect each button click to the proper action method in my Controller? I have tried Html.ActionLink: <%= Html.ActionLink("Upload", "Import", "OracleFile")%> <%= Html.ActionLink("Download", "Export", "OracleFile")%> Html.ActionLink didn't do the trick. The action links were taking me to the right Action methods but they were generating a GET request. This way Request.Files.Count = 0. I need a POST request. Note: the most intriguing part is that the upload was working and all of sudden it stopped working. I've seen that some people are having the same problem with FileUpload tasks in which the Request.Files is always Empty. I think it's empty because you need a post to the server. Isn't it?

• Pear Mail + Pear mail-mime URLs corrupted

  I'm using pear mail and pear mail mime to send UTF8 HTML emails. When I input urls such as //www.site.com.img they appear in the email as http:///www.site.com.img (note the three slashes). Anyone know how to use //www urls with pear-mail/mime ? • Sending data through POST request from a node.js server to a node.js server

  I'm trying to send data through a POST request from a node.js server to another node.js server. The only thing I don't see is how to include username and password in the options variable to actually login. • How to secure Add child record functionality in MVC on Parent's view?

  I'm trying to avoid some potential security issues as I expose some a new set of functionality into the real world. This is basically functionality that will allow for a new comment to be added via a partialview on the "Parent" page. My comment needs to know a couple of things, first what record is the comment for and secondly who is making the comment. I really don't like using a hidden field to store the ID for the Parent record in the add comment form as that can be easily changed with some DOM mods. How should I handle this? • Autocomplete or Select box? (design problem)

  I'm working on a comparison website, so needless to say the search function is the primary feature of the site. I have two input text boxes and a search button. At the moment, the input text boxes use Ajax to query the database and show a drop-down box, but I'm wondering if it would be more intuitive to use a select box instead? The second box is dependant on the first, as when the first is selected theres another ajax query so only the available options for the first selection appear in the autocomplete box. Autocomplete Pros: - "Feels" right? - Looks more appealing than a select box (css design)? Cons: - the user has to be instructed on how to use the search (made to think?) - Only really works off the bat with javascript enabled. - The user may get confused if they type in what they want and no box appears (i.e., no results) Select Box Pros: - Can bring up the list of options / know whats there from the outset. - We use select boxes every day (locations etc.) so we're used to how they work. (more intuitive?) Cons: - Can look a little unaesthetic when theres too many options to choose from. I'm thinking maybe at most around 100 options for my site over time. Any thoughts on how I could go about this would be appreciated!

• Why is Raphael.JS creating paper with dimensions 1000x1000?

  I have a demo using raphael.js. The code for it is very simple but when viewed in Internet Explorer (less that version 9) I get a Raphael canvas that is 1000px by 1000px and I can't figure out why. I'm using version 1.5.2 of Raphael. • loading content from php file with jQuery

  The following code fetch all data (by clicking a.info link) from a php file "info.php" and prints in the #content div. The problem is that it prints everything from info.php file. Can I possibly select only some part of data from info.php file to load in #content? • Javascript Print Script Not Working in IE

  Greets! I'm a noob struggling to learn html and javascript - getting there slowly. I'm trying to print a DIV served up by SimpleModal. The page is at: www.planetsarsfield.com This "Print" function is in the recipe box at the bottom. Everything works great in FF, but it doesn't work at all in IE8. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong but I can't spot it. Any ideas? IE 6 & 7 render correctly, and I can solve the IE8 problem by triggering compatibility mode, but I'd rather not do that. Does anyone have any experience with this? • Spaces and backslashes in Visual Studio build events

  I have an application that is supposed to aid my project in terms of pre- and post-build event handling. I'm using ndesk.options for command line argument parsing. Which gave me weird results when my project path contains spaces. I thought this was the fault of ndesk.options but I guess my own application is to blame. I call my application as a post-built event like so: build.exe --in="$(ProjectDir)" --out="c:\out\" A simple foreach over args[] displays the following: --in=c:\my project" --out=c:\out" What happened is that the last " in each parameter was treated as if it was escaped. Thus the trailing backslash was removed. And the whole thing is treated as a single argument. Now I thought I was being smart by simply escaping the first " as well, like so: build.exe --in=\"$(ProjectDir)" --out=\"c:\out\" In that case the resulting args[] look like this: --path="c:\my project" --out="c:\out" The trailing backslash in the parameters is still swallowed and the first parameter is now split up. Passing this args[] to ndesk.options will then yield wrong results. How should the right command line look so that the correct elements end up in the correct args[] slots? Alternatively, how is one supposed to parse command line arguments like these with or without ndesk.options? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance

  The problem is: when I put 2 controls of the same type on a page I need to specify different prefixes for binding. In this case the validation rules generated right after the form are incorrect. • Linear Layout over relative layout

  I have a relative layout for Camera preview with some overlay features. The menu options work fine but if I click on one of the options, the app just froze. It opens a debug perspective but I am not able to understand them. The app does not seem to crash but it just froze. • How do I dynamically create a document for download in Javascript?

  I'm writing some Javascript code that generates an XML document in the client (via Google Earth plugin). I'd like the user to be able to click a button on the page and be prompted to save that XML to a new file. If I were generating the XML server-side this would be easy, just make the button open the link. But the XML is generated client-side. I've come up with a couple of hacks that half-work, inspired in part by this StackOverflow question. But neither completely work. The Window() version works OK in Firefox and IE, and not well in Chrome (can't save, XML embedded inside HTML). Neither version ever prompts a user download, it always opens a new window trying to display the XML. Is there a good way to do what I want in client side Javascript? I'd like this to work in today's browsers, ideally Firefox, MSIE 8, and Chrome.

• Is CSS Inheritance in Internet Explorer 8 still buggy?

  I have a situation that I am looking at where certain CSS properties will not be inherited. This revolves around tables and IE8. Using the sample HTML below I cannot get the text within the table to inherit the green colour. This works in Firefox and Chrome, but not IE8 and from reading up this seems to have always been a problem in IE but was meant to be working in version 8 from what I read. I have tried to specify the inherit value everywhere possible, but to no avail so the question is whether the CSS inheritance support in IE8 is buggy, or am I missing something?   Background: I couldn't find any decent free HTML to PDF conversion utilities in C#. There are 100s of them for PHP with extensive documentation, support, and CSS support. So I am using html2ps and html2pdf (php). I have PHP 5.2 installed on IIS7 and its working beautifully to create PDFs. I have the following in getPDF.aspx <!-- Output the header --> <DM:header runat="server" ID="header" /> <asp:Placeholder id="content" runat="server" /> <!-- Output the footer --> <DM:footer runat="server" ID="footer" /> and in getPDF.aspx.cs: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e){ // AddContentControl simples adds a controls to the content Placeholder. I know that I can enter the name of the URL in a browser and "see" that I'm redirected, but I'd like to know what tool(s) can be used to actually really "see" the 301 redirect. Btw, I did test with a telnet, but when I enter www.example.org, which I redirected to example.org (without the www), all I can see is an "200 OK", I don't get to see the 301.
