I could plainly see in the Internet Explorer 8 developer tool that an unwanted border in the Telerik RadRotator   was coming from the style classes named .RadRotator_Web20 and .rrClipRegion. • How Do I interpret HDD S.M.A.R.T Results?

  My laptop has recently started to become a bit unreliable, and for some reason I started to suspect that my HDD was starting to fail. After a bit of hunting on the internet, I found Ubuntu's Disk Utility in the System menu and ran the long SMART diagnostics from this. However, since the documentation for Disk Utility is very poor (palimpsest?), I'm not sure how to interpret the results: For example, the Read Error Rate is over 50 million (!), yet the Assessment is rated "Good". So would someone mind explaining to me how to interpret the results of these tests (especially the Normalized, Worst, Threshold and Value numbers)? And maybe tell me what they think of the results I got for my HDD? (Thanks)

  I've installed Ubuntu 11.4 on my dell xps m2010 using wubi. Then booted up and could not connect to the Internet using 3three huawei e122 usb mobile broadband (I would like this to work also). I've managed to connect through a wireless network, I went to my favorite sites and was told I needed to install adobe flash player.This what I did players run and picture is good. But there is no sound! Then I've tried to play songs in Banshee, but no sound. I have checked everything in sound preferences including test speaker, there is sound. I have sigmatel sound card.   I am currently using Kubuntu 12.04. I don't have strong high speed Internet connection and managed to get Kubuntu 12.10. I found that it's size is about 1GB. I have a lot of softwares installed in my current Kubuntu 12.04 via Ubuntu Software Center I would like to Add these software to Kubuntu 12.10 installation iso file. I don't want to download packages from Ubuntu customization kit (UCK) or similar software. I don't prefer using APTonCD or similar software. What I want is to add these software into this Kubuntu 12.10, so that they appear along with the default application which will be installed as default when the OS is installed. Is this possible?

• Webhosting for a TV channel with streaming video

  Hi guys, I'm making a website for a web based TV channel, so I'm assuming it will be heavy on bandwidth usage, but I'm no good at calculating bandwidth. Couple of questions: Assuming the site streams HD video 24 / 7 to 1000 people, how much bandwidth is that? Where should something like this be hosted? The channel will have a fiber internet optic connection, but I don't know the limit on their bandwidth, would it be better to get their own server or host online? In either case in question 2, any recommendations? I'm usually a regular web designer for minor businesses, so this is a new level. Your help is appreciated.

• Enable wifi on my computer - firmware missing

  I am attempting to set up a wireless network on 11.04, freshly download today. The router is on and working. However, I do not have a wifi "card" (which I am assuming is a little USB-type thing that allows internet access, but correct me if I am wrong) and every time I try to type in the MAC address and everything, nothing works. I also get the "firmware missing" error when I scroll over the signal strength, which I have tried looking up but have been unsuccessful with completely understanding it. I guess my main question is do I need another little device to be able to use wifi on my ubuntu? I do have an ethernet cable but another person is using it and I do not want to be tied down to that cable. the problem is that none of the wireless networks show up, however they show up when I go into Windows mode on my laptop. I get an error message at the top saying "firmware missing" which I have tried looking up but still have no straight answer for.

  I have a huawei ec1561 broadband data card, ISP-MTS India. I am not able to connect internet through it. while connecting it via network manager it says "You are registered with home network" and again "Modem network disconnected" . i think it is detected as a modem but not connecting properly. Any help please? I'm hitting this rock with my head more than a month... when I tried installing the driver that came with the device it finally says "Installing NDIS driver failed". I am trying to host my own web server for testing purposes.I have Internet service with sprint and i called them to obtain my public ip address. Now that i have my public ip address how to i assign it to my server? I also have a web domain name that i would like to point it at that web server. Do i give it the public ip address or do i give it the name of the server?

  Which University provides the best Computer Science degree in your opinion(non US Universities welcomed too)? I do realize that you most probably didn't attend more then one University so you can't really provide a truly insightful opinion on several institutions, but what you can do instead, is describe the one you attended and outline it's strengths and weaknesses. What do i mean by the best is essentially the University that upon graduation and given a subject's assumed reasonable level of passion and interest in the field, one can trust upon the fact he was at least exposed to the best and most deep, correct and up to date courses on Programming, Operating Systems, Internet and Computer Technology overall. We have all heard of recent horror stories in Computer Science teaching, thus an exposure the best of the best, essentially the University you would grant your children to if they were to be interested into this field, would be a great thing.

  Im developing an app that when you click a button the phone has to vibrate, the issue is that the phone just chashes. Saing that I need permitions to vibrate. • Download Speed is 0.12 Mbps when tested with servers in U.S, but it is 0.76 Mbps when tested with local servers, normal? [closed]

  Feeling that my ISP is cheating my money ( My subscription package is 1 Mbps), I did a speed test on my internet connection using www.speedtest.net. I tried to test the connection speed on two servers, one local ( Malaysia), another in U.S. I found that while the upload speed remain constant, but the download speed is different; 0.76 Mbps for servers in Malaysia, and 0.12 Mbps for servers in U.S. I called the ISP, and they blamed it on the intercontinental signal lost. But how can it be that the speed differs by that much? If it really differs by that much than we should always take a grain of salt of what is advertised as the broadband speed because the advertised speed is not the speed we are getting. No?

• 11.10 AMD64 alternate installer has broken packages?

  I'm installing Ubuntu 11.10 from the alternate install ISO because I need to use LVM. Unfortunately, at some point the installer fails because it can't install libpurple0 and ubuntu-desktop because they depend on libsasl2-modules but it's not installable somehow. It also has the same error for xserver-xorg-video-all but I think I could probably live without that one. Kind of annoying that this is broken, I'm guessing maybe if I had internet it would work but right now I'm on a campus network with a captive portal so I can't actually get a network connection without using a browser to log in. Just thought someone should know or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm going to try installing 11.04 alternate and then upgrading I guess.

  I've tried several tutorials on the internet but nothing works. This is not a duplicate, it is true that there are several of them about ios5 but not one of them asks specifically about music syncing or ubuntu oneiric ocelot... I'm just so angry at Apple because of this, my iPod classic syncs just fine with Banshee but my iPad 2 won't, because they suddenly decided to change how uploading music to their app works in ios5. I looked around and saw that an unstable libimobiledevice-1.1.2. was available, but I can't manage to install it! It's a nightmare, any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, I abandoned web programming for almost seven years and this year I decided to see what's the web programming today likes. Completely different, there are not table tags anymore, it's full of div and span tags. Why happened ? What are these new tags and why nobody codes in table tags anymore ?

• Issue installing *gfortran*

  I am trying to installing gfortran on my ubuntu system and I am following the steps mentioned in http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GFortranBinaries32Linux , unfortunately one of the step in the installation steps to says Install using the following command: tar -xzvf gfortran-4.5-linux-i686.tar.gz -C / but the download link provides a .deb file which I have installed it. Now when I check for gfortran, it says not installed. Any clue? how should I follow the further? Steps I have completed are: 1) Installed libraries: GMP Library, MPFR Library, and MPC Library. 2)Downloaded the gfortran-4.6 Debian and installed using the cmd. sudo dpkg -i .deb anything else I need to do? do I need to create any path or symbolic link? please help,thanks! Please Note: I have no internet access and cannot use software center.

  im new in linux systems. I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and it works fine with me, but i have a problem. I live in the university dorms and in order to use internet i have to put proxy settings which require authentication, i had a problem with downloading from the store but i read the solution you wrote here still sometimes it works sometimes :( i dont know why. But the big problem is if i want to open any link from inside the university i have to disable the proxy, on Windows there were an exception for using the proxy you can easily do it. is there any possible way of doing that in Ubuntu 12.04 Thank you for being helpful

• Help making TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter TL-WN723N work consistently

  I've only recently made the jump to Ubuntu, using 11.10/64 as my only desktop OS. Everything seems to be working fine, except my USB Wireless adapter, TP-Link's TL-WN723N which is randomly connecting and disconnecting. The connection time appears to be random, too: I've experienced hours of connectivity and lots of connections/disconnections. I've tried searching for a solution, but what I find doesn't concern this specific USB adapter. I'd like some help identifying the problem... I've also recently switched to using a D-Link router as a wireless hub, which creates its own wireless/n network. Unfortunately this didn't solve my problems, as the new n network can be joined, but there's no connectivity to the internet. I know that's not much info to help others solve my problem, so please let me know of what else I can provide to make this a better question -- and possibly help others facing similar trouble. lsusb reports that I'm using Realtek Semiconductor Corp. • Orthographic Zooming with 0,0 at top/left

  I'm trying to implement zooming on my 2D game. Since it's using orthographic projection, I thought it would be easy to implement zooming. After looking around the internet, I found a bunch of explanations and samples on how to do this if (0,0) is the center of the screen with the orthographic projection. The problem is, my ortho projection has (0,0) at the top-left (similar to XNA/Monogame, and a couple others). I could not find any examples about how to implement zooming to the center of the screen when the center is not (0,0). And help/links/code examples would be greatly appreciated.
