• Is it possible to use jquery to add numbers taken from mysql?

  Hey guys quick question. I have a div that gets assigned a number to its id that is taken from the database on page load. I am trying to use jquery to add 1 to that number but for example if the number was 70 to begin with it just becomes 701. • Does MultiThreading in Java takes much time for task completion?

  I have to search for a string in 10 large size files (in zip format 70 MB) and have to print the lines with the search string to corresponding 10 output files.(i.e. file 1 output should be in output_file1...file2--- output_file2). The same program takes 15 mins for a single file. But if use 10 threads to read 10 files and to write in 10 different files it should complete in 15 mins but its taking 40 mins. How can I solve this. Or multithreading will take this much time only?

• Fastest way to move records from a oracle DB into MS sql server after processing

  Hi.. Ok this is the scenario...I have a table in Oracle that acts like a queue... A VB.net program reads the queue and calls a stored proc in MS SQL Server that processes and then inserts the message into another SQL server table and then deletes the record from the oracle table. We use a datareader to read the records from Oracle and then call the stored proc for each of the records. The program seems to be a little slow. The stored procedure itself isnt slow. The SP by itself when called in a loop can process about 2000 records in 20 seconds. BUt when called from the .Net program, the execution time is about 5 records per second. I have seen that most of the time consumed is in calling the stored procedure and waiting for it to return. Is there a better way of doing this? The intention being that my API abstract the actual communication with the 3rd party API from our internal systems. The architect on the project chose WCF as the communication framework. The problem is that 70 percent of our subscriber applications are written in .Net 2 and as such have no access to the class libraries required to implement a WCF proxy. The end result being that our proxy classes are loosely based on the code auto generated by the WSDL tool as opposed to the SvcUtil tool. My question is, although I have no issues implementing the required proxy classes using basicHttp as the actual binding and using the WSDL tool, are there any special considerations that I need to take into account in this scenario? I.E proxy optimizations and the like. Thanks in advance.

  I'm curious is it possible to change text properties of tick labels independently of axes properties. Do they have handles? I'd like to control their position better, alignment, color, fonts, etc. I know I can substitute them with text labels, but it has some drawbacks. Any alternative solutions? Particularly, is it possible to put xticklabels between ticks, that are irregular? plot(1:100) set(gca,'xtick',[30 45 53 70 95]) grid on I need to put xticklabels in the middle between grids.

• Forced to use too many hidden fields; looking for an alternative approach

  I am looking for a better approach to do this. I have around 70 to 80 hidden fields in my page. This hidden fields are initialized at the server side and then used at the client side for validations, calculations, etc,. using java script. I wanted to know if there is any other alternative approach to using hidden fields in asp.net. I guess, these many hidden fields are increasing the page size and hence affecting the performance of my web page and I want to do away with it. FYI: I am working on an asp.net web application.

  I am importing data from a mssql database into mysql. Works except when it encounters the id of a previous entry. id is unique. I need to get entries that already exist so that they can be placed in the work of the day. • Silverlight Memory Usage

  Hi All, Is there a way to measure the current memory usage of the silverlight plug-in from within the client side C# code? I am isolating a memory leak and it would be good to know the current memory usage of the plug-in. For instance it could be logged to a file before I clicked a button that it was using '60 mb' and after I clicked the button it was using '70 mb' etc. I could then gradually add in controls and use this technique to quantify the leak. • How to avoid StaleObjectStateException when transaction updates thousands of entities?

  We are using Hibernate 3.6.0.Final with JPA 2 and Spring 3.0.5 for a large scale enterprise application running on tomcat 7 and MySQL 5.5. Most of the transactions in application, lives for less than a second and update 5-10 entities but in some use cases we need to update more than 10-20K entities in single transaction, which takes few minutes and hence more than 70% of times such transaction fails with StaleObjectStateException because some of those entities got updated by some other transaction. We generally maintain version column in all tables and in case of StaleObjectStateException we generally retry but since these longs transactions are anyways very long so if we keep on retrying then also I am not very sure that we'll be able to escape StaleObjectStateException. Also lot of activities keep updating these entities in busy hours so we cannot go with pessimistic approach because it can potentially halt many activities in system. Please suggest how to fix such long transaction issue because we cannot spawn thousands of independent and small transactions because we cannot afford messed up data in case of some failed & some successful transactions.

• Is Private Bytes >> Working Set?

  OK, this may sound weird, but here goes. There are 2 computers, A (Pentium D) and B (Quad Core) with almost the same amount of RAM running Windows XP. If I run the same code on both computers, the allocated private bytes in A never goes down resulting in a crash later on. In B it looks like the private bytes is constantly deallocated and everything looks fine. In both computers, the working set is deallocated and allocated similarly. Could this be an issue with manifests or DLLs (system)? I'm clueless. Note: I observed the utilized memory with Process Explorer. Question: During execution (where we have several allocations and deallocations) is it normal for the number of private bytes to be much bigger (1.5 GB vs 70 MB) than the working set?

• Failure when adding images to a thumbnail gallery

  morning all, I've been browsing around trying to work out what I've done wrong when trying to add a thumbnail to a gallery view, but can't work out what on earth it might be. I'm trying to use the following code to stick a thumbnail onto a blank view: UIImageView *any = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(a,b,70,60)]; any.image = [UIImage imageNamed:selectedThumbPath]; any.tag = 0; [self.view addSubview:any]; In the above example: a = 165 b = 150 selectedThumbPath = the full path to a thumbnail ie. /users/Cleverbum/library etc I'm pulling my hair out, there are no error messages, and no clues as to why it's not drawing anything. What's worse is that this is one of the only parts of the code i've not changed!
