  • Hibernate Query Exception

    - by dharga
I've got a hibernate query I'm trying to get working but keep getting an exception with a not so helpful stack trace. I'm including the code, the stack trace, and hibernate chatter before the exception is thrown. If you need me to include the entity classes for MessageTarget and GrpExclusion let me know in comments and I'll add them. public List<MessageTarget> findMessageTargets(int age, String gender, String businessCode, String groupId, String systemCode) { Session session = getHibernateTemplate().getSessionFactory().openSession(); List<MessageTarget> results = new ArrayList<MessageTarget>(); try { String hSql = "from MessageTarget mt where " + "not exists (select GrpExclusion where grp_no = ?) and " + "(trgt_gndr_cd = 'A' or trgt_gndr_cd = ?) and " + "sys_src_cd = ? and " + "bampi_busn_sgmnt_cd = ? and " + "trgt_low_age <= ? and " + "trgt_high_age >= ? and " + "(effectiveDate is null or effectiveDate <= ?) and " + "(termDate is null or termDate >= ?)"; results = session.createQuery(hSql) .setParameter(0, groupId) .setParameter(1, gender) .setParameter(2, systemCode) .setParameter(3, businessCode) .setParameter(4, age) .setParameter(5, age) .setParameter(6, new Date()) .setParameter(7, new Date()) .list(); } catch (Exception e) { System.err.println(e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); } finally { session.close(); } return results; } Here's the stacktrace. • Getting a null reference exception exporting a slightly complex rdlc report to excel

    - by George Handlin
Have an issue in exporting a slightly complex report to excel from an rdlc. Exporting a simple tabular report works fine, but getting a null reference exception with a more complex one. As is usually the case, it works on the server in the development environment, but not in the test environment. The server in the development environment has iis, sql and sql reporting services on it and test only has iis (I didn't set them up). I'm guessing there is something that gets installed with SSRS that is not installed with just the report viewer. The report has several parameters going into it and a few generic lists going in for datasources. Some tables for display as well as a list. Working with the 2005 version. • Help deciphering exception details from WebRequestCreator when setting ContentType to "application/json"

    - by Stephen Patten
Hello, This one is real simple, run this Silverlight4 example with the ContentType property commented out and you'll get back a response from from my service in xml. Now uncomment the property and run it and you'll get an exception similar to this one. System.Net.ProtocolViolationException occurred Message=A request with this method cannot have a request body. • .NET Exception error, what does this error means?

    - by gsvirdi
I've tried to develop a simple winform utility which is using xml file as its database. I've used VS 2008 express edition, C#. When this utility tries to write into the xml file then this error is displayed on other computer. • Illegal cross thread operation exception, unable to handle it

    - by yeah1000
Hello, i am using visual C# express 2008. I SOMETIMES get the illegal cross thread operation in my invoke method when i try to run my project. It use the same invoke method in many places but its only at the beginning of another thread that i get the error. I check the InvokeRequired property, invoke the same method and in the 'else' condition and create a temporary variable and assign it the text of my control. But on that line, in the 'else' statement, inside the Invoking method i sometimes get the exception. What could be the cause? How to get rid of it? It does not occur often, but it is still a bug... Code: // Delegate: private delegate void ChangeTextDelegate(string text); // Method: public static void ChangeText(string text) { if (richtextbox1.InvokeRequired) { richtextbox1.Invoke(new ChangeTextDelegate(ChangeText), new object[] { text }); } else { int startIndex; startIndex = richtextbox1.TextLength; // <- Exception points here. // ... } } Stack trace: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'SomeClass' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." • Why ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); throws exception

    - by yakup
    I am learning Wicket by "Enjoying Web Development with Wicket" book. And in an example: int weight = ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); is used. When I click Submit button it throws exception. But after changed the code to: int weight=Integer.parseInt( (String) weightModel.getObject()); It works fine. What is the reason for throwing the exception? The full code: GetRequest.java package myapp.postage; import java.util.HashMap; import java.util.Map; import org.apache.wicket.markup.html.WebPage; import org.apache.wicket.markup.html.form.Form; import org.apache.wicket.markup.html.form.TextField; import org.apache.wicket.model.Model; @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public class GetRequest extends WebPage { private Model weightModel=new Model(); private Model patronCodeModel=new Model(); private Map patronCodeToDiscount; public GetRequest(){ patronCodeToDiscount=new HashMap(); patronCodeToDiscount.put("p1", new Integer(90)); patronCodeToDiscount.put("p2", new Integer(95)); Form form=new Form("form"){ @Override protected void onSubmit(){ int weight = ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); Integer discount=(Integer)patronCodeToDiscount.get(patronCodeModel.getObject()); int postagePerKg=10; int postage=weight*postagePerKg; if(discount!=null){ postage=postage*discount.intValue()/100; } ShowPostage showPostage=new ShowPostage(postage); setResponsePage(showPostage); } }; TextField weight=new TextField("weight",weightModel); form.add(weight); TextField patronCode=new TextField("patronCode",patronCodeModel); form.add(patronCode); add(form); } } The html file GetRequest.html: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <form wicket:id="form"> <table> <tr> <td>Weight</td> <td><input type="text" wicket:id="weight"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Patron code:</td> <td><input type="text" wicket:id="patronCode"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><input type="submit"/></td> </tr> </table> </form> </html>

  • Tell me what&rsquo;s wrong! &ndash; An XNA sample demonstrating exception handling and reporting in

    - by George Clingerman
I’ve always enjoyed using Nick Gravelyn’s exception handling in all of my games. You’re always going to encounter those unhandled exception that your players are going to ferret out and having a method to display them rather than just crashing to the dashboard is definitely more of an elegant solution. But the other day I got to thinking…what if we could do more? What if instead of just displaying the error, we could encourage the players to send us the error. So I started playing with that an expanding upon Nick’s sample code to see what I could come up with. I got close to what I envisioned, but unfortunately there were some limitations to just what the XNA API could do. In my head I was picturing the players hitting “Send Message” and a 360 message would just be sent to the XBLIG developer. Unfortunately, you can only send messages in an XNA game to someone you’re currently in a network session with. Since I didn’t want to have a 360 server running all the time, virally connecting to players just to get error messages, I did the next best thing and just open up a 360 message and encourage them to manually enter the gamertag. Maybe someday we’ll be able to do that a little better, but this works for now. In the sample, players can hit the “A” button or key to generate in an exception. If the debugger is not attached, then the Exception message screen will be shown explaining what has happened and giving the player a chance to send a 360 message to the gamertag provided or maybe even just send an email. Nick’s code has been changed just a bit. It now accepts any PlayerIndex (no longer hard coded to just PlayerIndex. One) and it no longer uses a MessageBox to get the users selection. The code has also been modified so that it works both for the 360 and for the PC. Check out “Tell me what’s wrong!” and let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions. I really do appreciate the feedback.

  • What's the best practice to do SOA exception handling?

    - by sun1991
Here's some interesting debate going on between me and my colleague when coming to handle SOA exceptions: On one side, I support what Juval Lowy said in Programming WCF Services 3rd Edition: As stated at the beginning of this chapter, it is a common illusion that clients care about errors or have anything meaningful to do when they occur. Any attempt to bake such capabilities into the client creates an inordinate degree of coupling between the client and the object, raising serious design questions. How could the client possibly know more about the error than the service, unless it is tightly coupled to it? What if the error originated several layers below the service—should the client be coupled to those lowlevel layers? Should the client try the call again? How often and how frequently? Should the client inform the user of the error? Is there a user? By having all service exceptions be indistinguishable from one another, WCF decouples the client from the service. The less the client knows about what happened on the service side, the more decoupled the interaction will be. On the other side, here's what my colleague suggest: I believe it’s simply incorrect, as it does not align with best practices in building a service oriented architecture and it ignores the general idea that there are problems that users are able to recover from, such as not keying a value correctly. If we considered only systems exceptions, perhaps this idea holds, but systems exceptions are only part of the exception domain. User recoverable exceptions are the other part of the domain and are likely to happen on a regular basis. I believe the correct way to build a service oriented architecture is to map user recoverable situations to checked exceptions, then to marshall each checked exception back to the client as a unique exception that client application programmers are able to handle appropriately. Marshall all runtime exceptions back to the client as a system exception, along with the stack trace so that it is easy to troubleshoot the root cause. I'd like to know what you think about this? Thank you.

  • DataContractJsonSerializer ReadObject Exception

    - by Dan Appleyard
I am following the accepted answer of ASP.NET MVC How to pass JSON object from View to Controller as Parameter. Like the original question, I have a simple POCO. Everthing works fine for me up until the DataContractJsonSerializer.ReadObject method. I am getting the following exception: Expecting element 'root' from namespace ''.. Encountered 'None' with name '', namespace ''. Public Overrides Sub OnActionExecuting(ByVal filterContext As ActionExecutingContext) If filterContext.HttpContext.Request.ContentType.Contains("application/json") Then Dim s As System.IO.Stream = filterContext.HttpContext.Request.InputStream Dim o = New DataContractJsonSerializer(RootType).ReadObject(s) filterContext.ActionParameters(Param) = o Else Dim xmlRoot = XElement.Load(New StreamReader(filterContext.HttpContext.Request.InputStream, filterContext.HttpContext.Request.ContentEncoding)) Dim o As Object = New XmlSerializer(RootType).Deserialize(xmlRoot.CreateReader) filterContext.ActionParameters(Param) = o End If End Sub Any ideas? Thanks

  • Getting Exception thrown and not caught error on jquery ui tabs in ie8

    - by Jason
I am getting the following error (pointing to jquery-1.4.2.js): Message: Exception thrown and not caught Line: 2904 Char: 2 Code: 0 With the following: IE8 jquery 1.4.2 jquery ui 1.8.1 When I do the following: $("#theTabs").tabs(); On the same page I also have two instances of the jquery ui dialog and one instance of the jquery ui accordion. Am I missing something? This does not happen in FF on Windows (nor in Safari or FF on OS X) I use the same code elsewhere for tabs and they work just fine.
