  • Chnaging Displayed Image on a Webpage Using Javascript

    - by Gavin
Hi all, I'm having some trouble changing an image being displayed on a page by way of a dropdown menu selection. This works fine.. getting the dropdown menu to give me an alert when I make a selection. Even though the menu is embedded within a division, paragraph, and label tag, it still works. "availableImages" is the name of my menu. function imageSelect() { var index = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.selectedIndex; var value = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.options[index].value; alert("test " + value); // alert box pops up upon list item selection } However, within the same division, I am having an issue with changing the source of my image tag... Any ideas? I will provide more code if it will be helpful. Thanks! Gavin

  • HTML/JavaScript: mouseover effect for image maps?

    - by MVCDummy09
I'm trying to help out a nonprofit by doing their website. They want (ugh) their logo to serve as an HTML image map. In other words, when you click on different parts of the logo, you're directed to different web pages. They also, however, want mouseover effects: when you mouseover a particular portion of the image map, that piece of the graphic should be highlighted. If the logo was simple, I would slice it up into rectangles and attach mouseover and click events to the appropriate rectangles. With the complexity of their logo, this is not possible, however. Has anyone done anything like this without Flash? I'm not a Flash developer but this is looking like a very difficult task in just HTML/JavaScript. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • href image link download on click

    - by Piero
Hey all, I generate normal links like: <a href="/path/to/image"><img src="/path/to/image" /></a> in a web app. When I click on the link, it displays the picture in a new page. If you want to save the picture, then you need to right click on it and select "save as" I don't want this behaviour, I would like to have a download box popping out when I click on the link, is that possible just with html or javascript? How? If not I guess I would have to write a download.php scrit and call it into the href with the file name as parameter...? Greetings! :)

  • How to improve performance of map that loads new overlay images

    - by anthonysomerset
I have inherited a website to maintain that uses a html map overlaying a real map to link specific countries to specific pages. previously it loaded the default map image, then with some javascript it would change the image src to an image with that particular country in a different colour on mouseover and reset the image source back to the original image on mouse out to make maintenance (adding new countries) easier i made the initial map a background image by utilising some CSS for the div tag, and then created new images for each country which only had that countries hightlight so that the images remain fairly small. this works great but theres one issue which is particularly noticeable on slower internet connections when you hover over a country if you dont have the image file in your browser cache or downloaded it wont load the image unless you hover over another country and then back onto the first country - i guess this is due to the image having to manually be downloaded on first hover. My question: is it possible to force the load of these extra images AFTER the page and all the other assets have finished loading so that this behaviour is all but eliminated? the html code for the MAP is as follows: <div class="gtmap"><img id="Image-Maps_6200909211657061" src="<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck(); • How to get Firebug to tell me what error jquery's .load() is returning?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    I'm trying to find out what data/error jquery's .load() method is returning in the following code (the #content element is blank so I assume there is some kind of error). Where do I find in Firebug what content or error .load() is returning? How can I use console.log to find out at least what content is being returned? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jquery", "1.3.2"); google.setOnLoadCallback(function() { $('#loadButton').click(loadDataFromExernalWebsite); }); function loadDataFromExernalWebsite() { console.log("test"); $('#content').load('http://www.tanguay.info/web/getdata/index.php?url=http://www.tanguay.info/knowsite/data.txt', function() { alert('Load was performed.'); }); } </script> </head> <body> <p>Click the button to load content:</p> <p id="content"></p> <input id="loadButton" type="button" value="load content"/> </body> </html>

  • Image 8-connectivity without excessive branching?

    - by shoosh
I'm writing a low level image processing algorithm which needs to do alot of 8-connectivity checks for pixels. For every pixel I often need to check the pixels above it, below it and on its sides and diagonals. On the edges of the image there are special cases where there are only 5 or 3 neighbors instead of 8 neighbors for a pixels. The naive way to do it is for every access to check if the coordinates are in the right range and if not, return some default value. I'm looking for a way to avoid all these checks since they introduce a large overhead to the algorithm. Are there any tricks to avoid it altogether?

  • Image coding library

    - by Dmitry
Is there any good library for lossless image encoding/decoding that has compression rate more or less similar to PNG but decoding to raw RGB bitmap data would be much faster than PNG? Also alpha transparency is needed, but not essential because, alpha channel could be taken from separate image. Original problem lies in slowness of reading and decoding PNG files on iPhone using standard libraries. Obvious and the simples solution would have been storing raw RGB bitmap data, but then size of unpacked ipa is too large - 4 times larger than PNG files. So, I am trying to find some compromise solution.

  • how to flip Image in wpf

    - by shashank
Hello! I recently learned how to rotate a BitmapImage using the 'TransformedBitmap' and 'RotateTransformed' classes. Now I am able to perform clockwise rotations on my images. But how do I FLIP an image? I can't find the class(es) to perform horizontal and vertical flips of a BitmapImage. Please help me figure out how to do it. For instance, if my image was a drawing that looked like a 'd', then a vertical flip would result in something like a 'q', and a horizontal flip would result in something lika a 'b'. I hope this is clear enough. Thanks in advance! Best regards, shashank

  • Paint java GUI component to image file

    - by Simon
Let's say I have JButton test = new JButton("Test Button"); and I want to draw the button into an image object and save it to a file. I tried this: BufferedImage b = new BufferedImage(500, 500, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); test.paint(b.createGraphics()); File output = new File("C:\\screenie.png"); try { ImageIO.write(b, "png", output); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } This code produced an empty 500x500 PNG-file. Does anyone know how I can draw the GUI component to an image file?

  • image upload problem.

    - by Bluemagica
    I wrote a function to resize and upload images...it works, but only for one image. So if I call the function three times, I end up with 3 copies of the last image..... function uploadImage($name,$width,$height,$size,$path='content/user_avatars/') { //=================================================== //Handle image upload $upload_error=0; //Picture $img = $_FILES[$name]['name']; if($img) { $file = stripslashes($_FILES[$name]['name']); $ext = strtolower(getExt($file)); if($ext!='jpg' && $ext!='jpeg' && $ext!='png' && $ext!='gif') { $error_msg = "Unknown extension"; $upload_error = 1; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } if(filesize($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'])>$size*1024) { $error_msg = "Max file size of ".($size*1024)."kb exceeded"; $upload_error = 2; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } $newFile = time().'.'.$ext; resizeImg($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'],$ext,$width,$height); $store = copy($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'],$path.$newFile); if(!$store) { $error_msg = "Uploading failed"; $upload_error = 3; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } else { return array($upload_error,$newFile); } } } //========================================================================================= //Helper Functions function getExt($str) { $i = strpos($str,"."); if(!$i) { return ""; } $l = strlen($str)-$i; $ext = substr($str,$i+1,$l); return $ext; } function resizeImg($file,$ext,$width,$height) { list($aw,$ah) = getimagesize($file); $scaleX = $aw/$width; $scaleY = $ah/$height; if($scaleX>$scaleY) { $nw = round($aw*(1/$scaleX)); $nh = round($ah*(1/$scaleX)); } else { $nw = round($aw*(1/$scaleY)); $nh = round($ah*(1/$scaleY)); } $new_image = imagecreatetruecolor($nw,$nh); imagefill($new_image,0,0,imagecolorallocatealpha($new_image,255,255,255,127)); if($ext=='jpg'||$ext=='jpeg') { $src_image = imagecreatefromjpeg($file); } else if($ext=='gif') { $src_image = imagecreatefromgif($file); } else if($ext=='png') { $src_image = imagecreatefrompng($file); } imagecopyresampled($new_image,$src_image,0,0,0,0,$nw,$nh,$aw,$ah); if($ext=='jpg'||$ext=='jpeg') { imagejpeg($new_image,$file,100); } else if($ext=='gif') { imagegif($new_image,$file); } else if($ext=='png') { imagepng($new_image,$file,9); } imagedestroy($src_image); imagedestroy($new_image); } I have a form with two upload fields, 'face_pic' and 'body_pic', and I want to upload these two to the server and resize them before storing.   • Best Image Replacement Technique

    - by Josh Stodola
What is the best (as in cross-browser) technique to do image replacement in CSS? I am using sprites to do my navigation, but I want the markup to remain SEO friendly. Given the following HTML structure... <div id="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Test</a></li> <li><a href="#">Tester</a></li> <li><a href="#">Testing Testing</a></li> </ul> </div> What is the best way to replace the text with a background image using CSS only? I am currently using this... text-indent: -9999px; But, it fails with CSS on, and images off.

  • How to Use Calculated Color Values with ColorMatrix?

    - by Otaku
I am changing color values of each pixel in an image based on a calculation. The problem is that this takes over 5 seconds on my machine with a 1000x1333 image and I'm looking for a way to optimize it to be much faster. I think ColorMatrix may be an option, but I'm having a difficult time figure out how I would get a set of pixel RGB values, use that to calculate and then set the new pixel value. I can see how this can be done if I was just modifying (multiplying, subtracting, etc.) the original value with ColorMatrix, but now how I can use the pixels returned value to use it to calculate and new value. For example: Sub DarkenPicture() Dim clrTestFolderPath = "C:\Users\Me\Desktop\ColorTest\" Dim originalPicture = "original.jpg" Dim Luminance As Single Dim bitmapOriginal As Bitmap = Image.FromFile(clrTestFolderPath + originalPicture) Dim Clr As Color Dim newR As Byte Dim newG As Byte Dim newB As Byte For x = 0 To bitmapOriginal.Width - 1 For y = 0 To bitmapOriginal.Height - 1 Clr = bitmapOriginal.GetPixel(x, y) Luminance = ((0.21 * (Clr.R) + (0.72 * (Clr.G)) + (0.07 * (Clr.B))/ 255 newR = Clr.R * Luminance newG = Clr.G * Luminance newB = Clr.B * Luminance bitmapOriginal.SetPixel(x, y, Color.FromArgb(newR, newG, newB)) Next Next bitmapOriginal.Save(clrTestFolderPath + "colorized.jpg", ImageFormat.Jpeg) End Sub The Luminance value is the calculated one. I know I can set ColorMatrix's M00, M11, M22 to 0, 0, 0 respectively and then put a new value in M40, M41, M42, but that new value is calculated based of a value multiplication and addition of that pixel's components (((0.21 * (Clr.R) + (0.72 * (Clr.G)) + (0.07 * (Clr.B)) and the result of that - Luminance - is multiplied by the color component). Is this even possible with ColorMatrix?

  • Resizing image with Python with locked aspect ratio

    - by David Vinklar
How should I resize an image with Python script so that it would automatically adjust the Height ratio to the Width used? I'm using the following code: def Do(Environment): # Resize App.Do( Environment, 'Resize', { 'AspectRatio': 1.33333, 'CurrentDimensionUnits': App.Constants.UnitsOfMeasure.Pixels, 'CurrentResolutionUnits': App.Constants.ResolutionUnits.PixelsPerIn, 'Height': 1440, 'MaintainAspectRatio': True, 'Resample': True, 'ResampleType': App.Constants.ResampleType.SmartSize, 'ResizeAllLayers': True, 'Resolution': 72, 'Width': 1920, }) Using this code works perfectly if the aspect ratio of an image is the same as the one defined in the code - i.e. 1.33333. But how should I make it work with images that do not have this ratio? For me, what is important is that the new Width is 1920; Height has to be able to adjust automatically. Any ideas which part of my code should be altered and how?

  • How prevent useless content load on the page in Responsive Design

    - by Ícaro Leandro
In Responsive Design, we hide elements in the page with @media queries and display: hide in the CSS. Ok, But in my system: Browsers that have less than width: 800px, the layout must hide some content, not only hide, but avoid them load fully. I mean, in access with desktop with more than 800px of screen, the page load fully; In mobile devices, or even in desktop with less than 800px, not load some content. I want to make the page load faster in this browsers. The system are maked in PHP and have some Javascript. Thanks...

  • Make blogger load faster

    - by Wladimir Ivanov
all. I use blogger as a platform for electronic music blog. Because of the thematics of the blog I embed many iframes (Youtube & Soundcloud). Of course this makes the articles to load slow. Almost each article on this blog consists of some text and many iframes below. What should I do in this particular case in order to make the articles (pages) load faster. Is there any available solution or I should use some jquery like lazy load to load iframes once the scroller reaches them? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Load Balance and Parallel Performance

Load balancing an application workload among threads is critical to performance. However, achieving perfect load balance is non-trivial, and it depends on the parallelism within the application, workload, the number of threads, load balancing policy, and the threading implementation.

  • JFrame the same shape as an Image / Program running in background

    - by Jan Weber
My question is simple, the solution surely not. I am looking for a way to shape a JFrame the same as an Image it will be displaying. By shape I mean the shape of the pixels that have an alpha != 0. I've already found a working example using a GeneralPath object, but it created ~110000 "nodes" for an Image of about 500*400, so starting the JFrame took more than 2 minutes, which is definitely not the desired effect, the startup should be in under 2 seconds. Thanks for your time.

  • Pull image of rendered HTML from a specific browser

    - by Geo Ego
I am working on an app that will be able to pull an image of rendered HTML from a specific browser. I would like the user to be able to select a specific browser to render an HTML file in, and capture the rendered output in an image file. I am starting with IE8, and I'm not sure where to begin to get the actual rendered output. I can easily open the file in that browser with Process.Start(), but I don't know how to return the rendered output. I have looked a little bit at sinking events, but I don't understand how that works or if that's the right way to go. I would just like some direction, and perhaps some resources to send me on the right path.
