• Add IP Address without Plesk

  I have an dedicated unmanaged server and added a few IP addresses to it (allocated), and the only information my hosting company has provided is instructions on how to use Plesk to Add IP Addresses. However, one of the first things I did was uninstall Plesk (for numerous reasons). Does anyone know what exactly Plesk does when you "Add IP Address"? Does it just create an alias on the default interface (I currently only have one and the loopback)? I can manage that myself without Plesk, but I was hoping someone might know if there is anything else Plesk does. I also have DHCP Client running (eth0 is static), not sure why my hosting company put that there either, and not sure if they're related.

• 403 forbidden .htaccess issue

  I have this .htaccess file in one directory on my site: <limit GET> order deny,allow deny from all allow from 123.456.789 </limit> ErrorDocument 403 403.html It blocks everyone except for one IP. However, when an invalid IP visits, it does not show the 403.html file, but it just shows the text "403.html" on the page. When I try to directly visit the 403.html page on the directory, it gets the same message too.

  For testing purposes, I've found it's really useful to point whatever.machineIP.mydomain.com to 192.168.1.machineIP : that way we can test each other's code without fidgetting with hosts files. I'm aware that this identifies our local IP addresses to the outside world, but if someone could access the network, it'd be trivial to sniff which of the local IP addresses respond to port 80 anyway. • Network wide rule to forwared IP address

  Hi, we have a virtual machine which hosts a web based bug tracker in our network which is reached internally via e.g. 192.168.1.5:9800. From the outside we made a port forwarding in our firewall so that the web site can be reached via e.g. 72.10.10.10:9800. Now that works fine but the problem is that we got different IP addresses to reach the same service depending if we are in the office or at home and when the service sends out an email the link doesn't always work :) So we are looking for a solution to fix it. One could be to make a rule in out firewall that all communication to 72.10.10.10:9800 is forwarded to 192.168.1.5:9800... If that's possible that is considering it's an IP address + a port. The reason we used a port is because we only got one static public IP address but multiple virtual web appliances. I have set up a VPN on a windows server (single VPS server), and I can connect from a remote computer and I get an IP assigned correctly (from 192.168.1.1 - 255) Next I configured IIS (running on the same machine) IP Address and Domain Restrictions to only allow only IP address range 192.168.1.0 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 When I connect to the VPN with "Use Default Gateway on Remote Network" (so that requests must go through the vpn), I get a 403 from the internal sites.   I'm creating a 2+1 failover cluster under Red Hat 5.5 with 4 services of which 2 have to run on the same node, sharing the same virtual IP address. One of the services on each node needs a (SAN) disk, the other doesn't. I'm using HA-LVM. When I shut down (via ifdown) the two interfaces connected to the SAN to simulate SAN failure, the service needing the disk is disabled, the other keeps running, as expected. Surprisingly (and unfortunately), the virtual IP address shared by the two services on the same machine is also removed, rendering the still-running service useless. How can I configure the cluster to keep the IP address up?

  My problem is simply that I have a domain, let's say example.com, and my server's ip address is e.g. 192.168.0.1. I want to set up 2 different virtual hosts, so when user enters ip address (192.168.0.1) in his browser, he will see content from here: /var/www/staging But if user will type example.com, he will see content from here: /var/www I think it's possible but I was playing around with it and couldn't make it work. Also I don't want to make simple redirection. I know I can, but I need both of my apps (live & staging) working in root on the same server. I can't buy second domain, and I can't associate new ip address.

  I just changed over my modem to bridged mode, and changed my wireless router to PPPoE. My PC IP address is reserved and forwards port 80 to my computer's IP address based on my MAC address. I have a problem, however. I cannot access my local webserver by public IP address or my router 192.168.0.1 wirelessly from any other computer or iPad. I can, however, connect by this PC which is connected to the wireless router via ethernet. Via wireless, it says it cannot connect, however DNS addresses work (e.g. google.com, etc.) Any ideas?

So does mean that Dedicated IP would be set to only one of them ?   Possible Duplicate: Multiple SSL domains on the same IP address and same port? I have 2 different domains, domain1.com and domain2.net. Both require SSL certificates. I've got the certificates signed by a CA and now need to set them up on Apache. I've got a single IP address and have found a post here: SSL site not using the correct IP in Apache and Ubuntu that apparently works for ubuntu but I am on CentOS and have not had the same luck trying that configuration. When I try that configuration, Apache dies telling me that the port is already in use: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443 I had SSL working for a single domain but now that I've added the second, I get a browser warning about the cert not belonging to the domain. How do I get both domains to work using virtual host containers?

The scenario is like this: Login node A can be accessed from outside Compute node B that running the service can be accessed from A but not from outside. So I tried to find a way to do it on my own, but I can't find a way to ask Microsoft to remove my IP from that list. Has anyone managed to remove a falsely listed address? And if yes: how?

• Multiple External IP Ranges on a Juniper SSG5

  I have a Juniper SSG 5 firewall in a datacenter. The first interface (eth0/0) has been assigned a static IP address and has three other addresses configured for VIP Nat. I have a static route configured at the lowest priority for 0.0.0.0/0 to my hosting company's gateway. Now I need to configure a second IP block. I have the IPs assigned to the second interface (eth0/1) which is in the same security zone and virtual router as the first. However, with this interface enabled I (a) can't initiate outbound sessions (browse the internet, ping, DNS lookup, etc) even though I can access servers behind the firewall just fine from the outside and (b) can't ping the management IP of the firewall/gateway. I've tried anything I can think of but I guess this is a little above my head. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I want a spicific IP (10.0.1.19) address in my lan to be redirected to 10.0.64.1 except if it is going to paypal. And even thou this crisis never really happens it has waken a question, how do you get started with tcp/ip v6? What can I do at home and is this a good or bad idea?   Hi, I have deployed an application on my Tomcat server with JDBC resources defined. What is puzzling me is that I can connect to the database (which is running locally on the server) only using the server's IP. When I change the resource host to localhost (or 127.0.0.1) then MySQL rejects the connection. I don't want to be connection via the server's IP but rather locally. What do I do? Thanks!
