  • UIVIewController not released when view is dismissed

    I have a main view, mainWindow, which presents a couple of buttons. Both buttons create a new UIViewController (mapViewController), but one will start a game and the other will resume it. Both buttons are linked via StoryBoard to the same View. They are segued to modal views as I'm not using the NavigationController. So in a typical game, if a person starts a game, but then goes back to the main menu, he triggers: [self dismissViewControllerAnimated:YES completion:nil ]; to return to the main menu. I would assume the view controller is released at this point. The user resumes the game with the second button by opening another instance of mapViewController. What is happening, tho, is some touch events will trigger methods on the original instance (and write status updates to them - therefore invisible to the current view). When I put a breakpoint in the mapViewController code, I can see the instance will be one or the other (one of which should be released). I have tried putting a delegate to the mainWindow clearing the view: [self.delegate clearMapView]; where in the mainWindow - (void) clearMapView{ gameWindow = nil; } I have also tried self.view=nil; in the mapViewController. The mapViewController code contains MVC code, where the model is static. I wonder if this may prevent ARC from releasing the view. The model.m contains: static CanShieldModel *sharedInstance; + (CanShieldModel *) sharedModel { @synchronized(self) { if (!sharedInstance) sharedInstance = [[CanShieldModel alloc] init]; return sharedInstance; } return sharedInstance; } Another post which may have a lead, but so far not successful, is UIViewController not being released when popped I have in ViewDidLoad: // checks to see if app goes inactive - saves.   • Dealing with Windows line-endings in Python

    I've got a 700MB XML file coming from a Windows provider. As one might expect, the line endings are '\r\n' (or ^M in vi). What is the most efficient way to deal with this situation aside from getting the supplier to send over '\n' :-) Use os.linesep Use rstrip() (requiring opening the file ... which seems crazy) Using Universal newline support is not standard on my Mac Snow Leopard - so isn't an option. I'm open to anything that requires Python 2.6+ but it needs to work on Snow Leopard and Ubuntu 9.10 with minimal external requirements. I don't mind a small performance penalty but I am looking for the standard best way to deal with this.

    I am trying to get the slides to link to other pages on the site.   • What's causing “Session state has created a session id, but cannot save it because the response was

    I'm getting this fault intermittently. I found this link which summarises fairly well what I was able to find on the Google: http://www.wacdesigns.com/2009/02/03/session-state-has-created-a-session-id-but-cannot-save-it-because-the-response-was-already-flushed-by-the-application/ Basically it says you can try setting the web config setting DisplayWhenNewSession, or try kicking the session state thing into life by getting the Session.SessionID in the Session_OnStart. But does anyone: a) have an explanation for this or even better, b) have a tried and tested fix I realise that I can't flush the response after doing anything that would affect the http response header. If I did this it would cause an error every time but this is intermittent. The SessionID should surely be created by ASP.NET at the beginning of the page response automatically, before anything in the ASPX page or the Page_Load (which is where all my flushes are called).

I may have something like this: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(1), new Class2(1), new Class1(2), new Class3(1), new Class2(2), new Class4(1), new Class3(2) }; I am trying to use LINQ to semi-sort the list so that the natural order is maintained EXCEPT for certain classes which have base.GroupThisType == true. All classes with GroupThisType should be grouped together at the place that the first class of the same type occurs. Here is what the output should be like: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(1), new Class1(2), new Class2(1), new Class3(1), new Class3(2) new Class2(2), new Class4(1), };

    What is the best style for a Python method that requires the keyword argument 'required_arg': def test_method(required_arg, *args, **kwargs: def test_method(*args, **kwargs): required_arg = kwargs.pop('required_arg') if kwargs: raise ValueError('Unexpected keyword arguments: %s' % kwargs) Or something else?   • How can I disable Java garbage collector ?

    Hi, we have a PHP webapp that calls a java binary to produce a pdf report (with jasperreport), the java binary outpus pdf to standart output and exits, the php then send the pdf to browser. This java command lasts about 3 to 6 seconds, I think when it lasts 6 second it's because the GC kicks in, so I would like to disable it because anyway when the command exits all memory is returned.. I would like to know how to disable it for Java 1.4.2 and for Java 1.6.0 because we are currently testing both JVM to see which performs faster.. Thanks

  • How can I keep doxygen from documenting #defines in a C file?

    I have #define values in headers that I certainly want Doxygen to document but I have others in C files that I treat as static constants and I don't want Doxygen to document them. Something as simple and stupid as #define NUMBER_OF(a) (sizeof((a))/sizeof((a)[0])) #define MSTR(e) #e How can I keep Doxygen from putting those #defines in the documentation it creates? I've tried marking it with @internal but that didn't seem to help. A somewhat-related question on Doxygen and #define, how can I get: #define SOME_CONSTANT 1234 /**< An explanation */ to put "SOME_CONSTANT" and "An explanation" but not "1234" in the output?

Make dequeue() a class method - however, alot of what dequeue() does requires non-class methods - so we'd have to make those class methods as well. Create a new class for dealing with the queue. Would this class extend BaseAlert? Is there a standard way of handling this type of situation?

    I'm just diving into ruby development for a class assignment and the machines at my Uni have only got ruby 1.8.7 on them so I need to develop for that. I have found tutorials on the web for ruby = 1.9 and rspec that are really good but I haven't found anything for ruby 1.8.7 (I'm guessing it's pretty dated?). Does anyone have anything using rspec testing and has an indepth discussion on ruby 1.8.7 for me? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Is this possible?

I have a custom LDAP server, which I can customize to generate whichever object class and attributes I need. I'm trying to display people from that server in the Mac OS X address book. Names and organizations display correctly, as well as work-related phone and address. However, I've never been able to have a home address displayed in the address book.   • Linux group permissions getting overwritten by owner

    I am not a user of Linux, but I am encountering some permissions problems with it that I hope someone can shed some light on. Bit of background: A colleague of mine has a Linux box (running Debian I believe) with an SVN repository on it. The repository directory and files 'owner' is my colleauge. We are both members of a group called 'users'. He manages several projects both Linux and Windows apps, while I have one Windows app. For the Windows apps, we both use TortoiseSVN via an SSH link to commit/update. Performing the command 'ls -l' shows the repository files and folders on the Linux box to have the following permissions: -rwxrwx--- john users However, when my colleauge commits to the repository, the permissions change to: -rwxrwx--- john john This then means I get 'Permission denied' when trying to access the repository myself as it appears that the group permissions have been overwritten with only 'owner' permissions. To fix this, a 'chown -R' command is applied to the files/folders to set the permissions back to owner/group, but each time he writes to the repository, the issue repeats. I'm not sure if this is solely an SVN problem, or a more fundamental owner/group issue. Anyone any clue on how to stop this happening, or where to go and look? I'm trying to help out my colleague who is having some trouble resolving this issue. Apologies for the vague info, I hope I have conveyed the problem clear enough. Like I say, I am not a Linux user, I have only put down what I have managed to pick up from looking over his shoulder. Thanks for any pointers I can pass on!

  • Ubuntu Cannot change permissions on files I own and have RW to.

    Hello there, I have a harddrive full of backups which for me is mounted at /media/chronus_ I have been trying to give another user rw permission to this drive.     I have been following the ISPMail tutorials on workaround.org (the 2.9 Wheezy version) and thus far everything has been working fine. When I reached the step to "Testing email delivery" step I noticed a error about the query in the output log from /var/log/mail.log. Should I be worried about this or am I missing something here? Since it is a message from dovecot it would be the query from dovecot-sql.conf.ext which I am including here driver = mysql connect = host=127.0.0.1 dbname=mailserver user=blocked password=***REMOVED*** default_pass_scheme = PLAIN-MD5 password_query = SELECT email as user, password FROM virtual_users WHERE email='%u';

  • How to move your Windows User Profile to another drive in Windows 8

    I like to have my user folder on a different drive (D:) than my OS is (C:). Reading the following post I decided to give it a try. All went quite well, untill I found out that my Windows 8 Apps won't execute anymore (other than that I didn't noticed any problems). My apps do work, while using an account that isn't moved. In the eventviewer I've found error messages like these: App <Microsoft.MicrosoftSkyDrive> crashed with an unhandled Javascript exception. Old profile folder had john as owner where my new profile folder had the Administrators group as owner. Changing this didn't help unfortunately.

    Hi, I have inherited some code in which I now have to add CSRF prevention and am trying to use the struts2 tokenSession interceptor to do this. I am adding a token to my form using the struts2 token tag like so: <form id="updateObject" name="updateObject" action="<%=request.getContextPath()%>/prv/updateObject.action" method="POST"> <fieldset class="x-fieldset"> <legend>Update object - Action Required</legend> <div>...</div> <s:token /> <s:hidden name="id" id="objectId" /> more stuff here... <input type="submit" value="Update Object" onclick="javascript:return doUpdateObject('myAction');"/> </fieldset> </form> In my javascript function, I am adding/removing some validation rules (depending upon the action required, and submitting the form: function doUpdateObject(action){ actionPanel.registerAction(action); // this function places the action name in an in-scope variable doUpdateObjectValidationSetup(action); // this function adds/removes jquery validation rules depending upon the action if($("#updateObject").valid()){ $("form#updateObject").submit(); } return false; } I have intercepted the request and a token is being added, however the struts2 tokenSession interceptor is returning invalid.token. The code works as expected without this interceptor. (struts2 xml file not posted - will post the relevant section if required). I have also used the tokenSession interceptor in other pages which use a basic html submit button (i.e. not going via javascript or jquery) and this also works as expected. What is making the token invalid? N.B. The project I have inherited uses a strange mixture of standard html, struts2 tags, ExtJS and JQuery. I will clean this up at some point but at the moment I just need to get the tokenSession interceptor working asap in the code as-is (as I have to apply a similar fix to several hundred pages...). Any help/pointers/tips/etc greatly appreciated! Regards, John
