• Unable to SSH into EC2 instance on Fedora 17

  I did following steps But I am not able to SSH to it(Same steps work fine on Fedora 14 image). I am getting Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic) I created new instance using fedora 17 amazon community image(ami-2ea50247). • phpMyAdmin says mcrypt is missing, but it's not; cannot log in

  I've just compiled a web stack on Solaris 10. This is a fairly standard Apache 2 / MySQL 5 / PHP 5 stack with all the most recent stable versions. I dropped phpMyAdmin on the server and set up httpd.conf to get that online. When I browse to the page, login fails, and a persistent message appears beneath the login form: The mcrypt extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. However, I compiled PHP with the --with-mcrypt flag. A file, info.php: <?php phpinfo(); ?> shows that mcrypt support is enabled. Running: php -m on the command line shows that mcrypt is loaded. Google hasn't been much help, and I was hoping someone around these parts could throw some help my way. If I need to provide any further detail, please let me know what you need to know.

• anyone doing php-fpm and APC? cache files missing in /tmp

  I have been using xcache for a long time. Recently I put together php-fpm and nginx. I see apc is installed and enabled in the configuration. I was assuming that apc will automatically opcode the files and store it somewhere. According to config it should be in /tmp/apx.xxxx but there is no such thing there. What am i missing? any clues to investigate would be of much help. Please note I am using php 5.3 fpm. thanks mates. UPDATE: i looked at apc.php it says things are fine. will just have to take its word for it.

I ran make and got this error message: Python build finished, but the necessary bits to build these modules were not found: _aaa _bbb _ccc ... _jjj _kkk I google'd and found one solution is to: MANUALLY map all the string names from the error message to something in the apt-get repo MANUALLY call "sudo apt-get AAA BBB ... JJJ KKK" to get all the libraries I can easily do all of that. But I have no way of knowing what is the right version libraries I need to get! How in the world am I supposed to fix the missing dependencies if I don't know what the exact missing dependency is?

• Linking AS code to symbols defined in an external SWC?

  (apologies ahead of time, I only really know Flash; my Flex experience is basically nil. There may be a very standard and obvious workflow solution that Flex people know about) I have a number of UI elements that are graphically quite complex (they're not components, they're just Sprites). Since it takes a long time to compile them, I've been trying to move them into an external .swc. However, I want to associate some code with these classes, but I don't want to have to recompile the graphical assets every time I make a code change. At the moment I have it set up like this: UI elements are created in a separate FLA and exported to a SWC. In my primary FLA, I have actionscript classes that extend each of the graphical assets in the SWC. For example: external.swc: (some symbol defined in the Library and exported for actionscript in frame 1) class: com.foo.WidgetGraphic base: flash.display.Sprite main.fla: Widget.as: package com.foo { public class Widget extends WidgetGraphic { ... } } This works, but is time-consuming and prone to error. I'd rather be able to avoid having to inherit from each graphical asset, and just define them directly. Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to accomplish? Note: the main concern here is compile time. I don't have any movies or audio or fonts, just a lot of vector art assets that appear to be slowing down my compilation time significantly. When I'm debugging I'm only making code changes, and would rather not have to keep recompiling the art...

  In Windows 7 you can pin a document to a program in the taskbar. I pinned an .xls document to Calc, but when I click on the shortcut I get the following error: soffice.bin - System Error The program can't start because sal3.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I got the same error when I pinned a .txt file to Writer. I tried repairing Open Office, as suggested by the error, but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas? Is sal3.dll part of something that isn't installed by default?

• Why /home folder is missing from my backup archive created by tar?

  So I'm doing full backup of my VPS using the following command (as root, of course): tar czvf 20120604.tar.gz / Everything seems to be fine, all files seem to appear in the list. The size of archive is 6 Gb and gunzipped version is 11 Gb which includes /home, because I totally have 11 Gb of data on VPS. But when I try actually to unpack archive, or open it using mc or WinRAR, there's no /home folder. And WinRAR tells 20120604.tar.gz - TAR+GZIP archive, unpacked size 894 841 346 bytes. It can't be WinRAR's bug, because when I type tar xzvf 20120604.tar.gz, /home folder isn't unpacked either. Why is /home folder missing from my archive? And what can I do to include it there? tar --version outputs the following: tar (GNU tar) 1.15.1

• mysql C connector unresolved symbols on Win2k8 but not on XP?

  I have a visual C++ 2008 express project which compiles fine on Windows XP with mysql C connector 6.0.2. When I copy the project over to a Windows Server 2008 x64 machine, it gets a bunch of linker errors like "unresolved external symbol _mysql_server_end@0" "unresolved external symbol _mysql_close@4" "unresolved external _mysql_real_connect@32". Is the mysql C connector 6.0.2 known to not work with Win Server 2008? (Note, the C connector is installed into the same place on both machines, and since I just copied over the project wholesale, it still has the correct libmysql.lib include. The interesting thing is that the errors I get on XP if I remove the libmysql.lib are not the same errors I'm getting on Win2k8, so that's what makes me think it might be an incompatibility...or maybe it's just because win2k8 is x64 and XP is x86?)   I am using Fedora 12, the problem i am facing is USB 2.0 write speed. I have a dual boot system with Window XP and Fedora 12. USB 2.0 write speed in Windows XP is much faster then what i am getting in Fedora 12. After some googling i came to know that ehci_hcd module is missing/not present in my system. ehci_hcd module is neither loaded nor it is present in the available list of modules. Can someone guide me how to fix this issue? Is ehci_hcd have something to do with USB 2.0 write speed or? Should i have to recompile the kernel and add/enable he ehci_hcd module?

I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008, but general strategies for any environment would be interesting and more broadly useful. Background: Presently I have a particularly elusive missing semicolon (or brace) in a C++ program that is causing a C2143 error. My header file dependencies are fairly straightforward, but still I can't seem to find the problem. Rather than post my code and play Where's Wally (or Waldo, depending on where you're from) I thought it would be more useful to get some good strategies that can be applied in this and similar situations. As a side-question: the C2143 error is showing up in the first line of the first method declaration (i.e. the method's return type) in a .cpp file that includes only its associated .h file. Would anything other than semicolons or braces lead to this behaviour?

  Suppose I draw a square on the stage, convert it to a symbol, export it for ActionScript with a classname of "MySquare" (and of course a base class of MovieClip). How is it that in the MySquare constructor, the width and height of this MovieClip are already available? In fact, any named instances in the clip are also available. I'm confused about how the Flash player seems to be able to pre-construct my movie clip by populating its properties and child clips before my constructor for the class ever runs. I thought that it would have to first construct the clip, calling my constructor code, and then construct and add any children, but obviously the player is doing something special for clips designed in the Flash authoring environment.

  I use Mutt for emails. I have threads enabled and I can see that most of the emails are threaded in Mutt. So that is all good. But sometimes I reply to an email and the answer(from other person) to my replied email wont be part of any threads. The thing is that when I reply in Mutt (which I use Vim to edit them), the subject parts keeps getting longer and longer with many "Re"s. That is the case with those emails with missing threads. I have: set strict_threads="yes" set sort="threads" set edit_headers=yes I am wondering if this has anything to do with Mutt or the person I am communicating over email. • Missing menu items for Azure SQL tables within SQL Server Management Studio?

  I have a table (say Table1) that is replicated via SQL Data Sync Agent across a local SQL Server 2012 as well as an Azure SQL Server (part of Microsoft Azure). Everything about Table1 (schema, table values etc ) is identical to the best of my understanding. However, when I list and right click Table1 from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2012 (SSMS), I get some very different menu options, even for seemingly basic stuff. Lets focus only on the 'Design' menu item: It is visible for Table1 on the local SQL server in SSMS It is missing for Table1 on Azure SQL via SSMS It is visible for Table1 (as Open Table Definition) on Azure SQL when reaching it via Visual Studio 2012 (Server Explorer - Data connections) This is seen in the screenshots below: Now I use scripts from some real stuff (esp when I need to check in the SQL scripts etc) but this difference concerns me to some extent. Am I witnessing just a tools artifact in SQL Server Management Studio when connecting to Azure SQL? or is it something more serious about limitations of Azure SQL itself (although, just seeing the Design surface is so basic!)?

  I need to perform calculations with a symbol. I need to convert the time which is of hh:mm form to the minutes passed. ;; (get-minutes symbol)->number ;; convert the time in hh:mm to minutes ;; (get-minutes 6:19)-> 6* 60 + 19 (define (get-minutes time) (let* ((a-time (string->list (symbol->string time))) (hour (first a-time)) (minutes (third a-time))) (+ (* hour 60) minutes))) This is an incorrect code, I get a character after all that conversion and cannot perform a correct calculation. Do you guys have any suggestions? I cant change the input type. • Can't set up Usermin correctly to allow users to login outside of local network, what am I missing?

  I'm fairly new at creating a server, but the biggest problem I am currently having at the moment is getting Usermin set up to be accessible from outside the LAN. I talked to other people that use it and was told that all I need to do is type the url:20000 to access the login screen, but that doesn't work. I have also tried the ip:20000 and that doesn't lead to anything. Instead I get the error message: Error - Bad Request This web server is running in SSL mode. Try the URL https://hostname:10000/ instead. (where hostname is my server's hostname) I know it must be a configuration issue, but I have checked all my settings and as far as I can tell I don't have the ports blocked anywhere. I have the correct ports forwarded on my router and my server firewall doesn't have the port block either. Is there anything I am missing? Any help would be appreciated and I will add more information upon request. Thank You.
