  • get rid of red X in IE for non-existing images

    I have a 3rd website (Confluence) which references images which are secured by a login. If the current user is logged in the image is shown if not the image url would redirect to a login form. Example When you enter this url in the browser a redirect to the login page is done. The problem now: IE shows a the dreaded red X icon for the image even though there should be just nothing (like in Firefox). Anyone knows how to get around this?

  • Update table rows in a non-sequential way using the output of a php script

    Good evening everybody, this is my very first question and I hope I've done my search in stack's archive at best!!! I need to monitor several devices by querying theyr mysql database and gather some informations. Then these informations are presented to the operator in an html table. I have wrote a php script wich loads devices from a multidimensional array, loops through the array and gather data and create the table. It comes out that when devices are too much and internet connection is not that fast, the script times out, even if i dramatically increase the timeout period. So it is impossible even to load the page the first time... Therefore I would like to change my code so that I can handle each row as a single entity, with its own refresh period. So when the user first loads the page, he sees n rows (one per device) with the ajax loader image... then an update cycle should start independently for each row, so that the user sees data gathered from each database... then ajax loader when the script is trying to retrieve data, then the gathered data once it has been collected or an error message stating that it is not possible to gather data since hour xx:yy:zz. So rows updating should be somewhat independent from the others, like if each row updating was a single closed process. So that rows updating is not done sequentially from the first row to the last. I hope I've sufficiently detailed my problem. Currently I feel like I am at a dead-end. Could someone please show me somewhere to start from?

    I currently have a generic method where I want to do some validation on the parameters before working on them. Specifically, if the instance of the type parameter T is a reference type, I want to check to see if it's null and throw an ArgumentNullException if it's null. Something along the lines of: // This can be a method on a generic class, it does not matter. public void DoSomething<T>(T instance) { if (instance == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("instance"); Note, I do not wish to constrain my type parameter using the class constraint. I thought I could use Marc Gravell's answer on "How do I compare a generic type to its default value?", and use the EqualityComparer<T> class like so: static void DoSomething<T>(T instance) { if (EqualityComparer<T>.Default.Equals(instance, null)) throw new ArgumentNullException("instance"); But it gives a very ambiguous error on the call to Equals: Member 'object.Equals(object, object)' cannot be accessed with an instance reference; qualify it with a type name instead How can I check an instance of T against null when T is not constrained on being a value or reference type?

    Ok, this is so weird!!! I am running PHP Version 5.1.6 when I try and run the code below it gives a fatal error of an object that has not been instantiated. As soon as I un-comment this line of code //$cb_db = new cb_db(USER, PASSWORD, NAME, HOST); everything works. Even though I have declared the $cb_db object as global within in the method.     Please, consider the following snippet which is being run from Eclipse. Even though the external jar file does not exist no Exception is thrown and process is not null.     So I'm using a stand alone function from within a class that that uses the class it's being called from. Prior to this function call there are lots of public properties populated, but when I look at the $STATE object within the function scope it loses all the properties but one, product_id. The property that matters for this function is the category_id property, which is an array of category id's. I'm wondering why I don't have access to all the public properties of the $STATE object and how I can get access to them.

All the tools I found makes a line diff. But they're not what I want, simply because i have no lines, but "strings" to compare. What I need is to have a char-based diff: eg. a diff that tells me something like " from the first file, remove char from 8 to 12, add the string "dinner" from char 8."

At first I was thinking, it registers it's instances to keep track of them, but regular constructors could do the same thing through the use of private static variables. What is the reasoning behind this style?

I can either make the site do ajax request that load the body content, or I can have links that re-loads the whole page. I need the site to be SEO compliant, and I would really like the header to not re-load when the content changes, the reason is that we have a media player that plays live audio. Is there away that if Google BOT or someone without ajax enabled it does the site like normal href but if ajax or javascript allowed do it the ajax way.

  • Help System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager find a type in a non-referenced assembly

    I'm trying to write a plug-in system where assemblies can be dropped in a folder that ASP.NET has no knowledge about. This plug-in system works fine for ASP.NET MVC based assemblies, but for old-school WebForm assemblies (where the .aspx files Inherits the System.Web.UI.Page derived classes) System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager is responsible for compiling the .aspx file into a dynamic assembly. My problem is that the BuildManager knows nothing about the assemblies within my plug-in folder and it seems to be absolutely nothing I can do to help it. If I do: BuildManager.GetType("Type.Defined.In.Plugin.Assembly", true, true) it throws. If I first get a reference to the Type and then try: var instance = BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath(path, type); it still throws, even though I've now passed in the specific type it needs to compile the .aspx file. Is there anything I can do to help BuildManager find the types it needs to compile the .aspx file?

  • OGRE: Non-Standard Resolution

    I am using OGRE to make a re-rendering of the film, which has a wide aspect ratio (around 1.85). The OGRE dialog seems to be showing the standard full screen resolution by default (800/600, 1024/768, etc.), but those obviously have aspect ratios of 1.333 or around that. But as long as I am not running full screen mode, why should I be restricted to these screen sizes only? I can definitely change the viewport size, but that would make it difficult for me to generate the video later. Any idea?

  • ScaleTransform transforms non-linearly

    I am using scale transform to allow a user to resize a control. What happens though is that when you start to move the mouse the control jumps to a new size, and then scales oddly. The further you move your mouse from the starting location the larger the increase in size becomes. I expect its the way I calculate the scale to be applied.     I'm still very new to Silverlight. I'm currently using vs2008 at work. As far as I can gather Silverlight 4 is vs2010 only. I stumbled across this article on command binding, it says that command binding is a new feature introduced in silverlight 4. Is command binding integral to MVVM in silverlight, does it make MVVM much simpler to implement? Thanks for any help.

I already tried to use ax.plot_surface() function to make it look nice. For this I eliminated some points, and recalculated the matrix kind of input needed by this function. However, the graph I generated was far more difficult to interpret and understand. So there might be 2 possibilities: either I am not using the function correctly, or otherwise, the data I am trying to plot is not good for the surface plot. What I was expecting was 3D graph which would have an effect similar to that we have of 3D pie chart. We see that one piece (that which is extracted out) is part of another piece. I was not expecting it to be exactly same like that, but some kind of effect like that. What I would like to ask is: Do you think it will be possible to make such 3D graph? Is there any way better, I could express my data in 3 dimension?   • Non-normalized association with legacy tables in Rails and ActiveRecord

    I am building a Rails application accessing a legacy system. The data model contains Customers which can have one or more Subscriptions. A Subscription always belong to one and only one Customer. Though not needed, this association is represented through a join table "subscribes", which do not have an id column: Column | Type | Modifiers -----------------+---------+----------- customer_id | integer | not null subscription_id | integer | not null I have this coded as a has_and_belongs_to_many declarations in both Customer and Subscription class Customer < Activerecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :subscriptions, :join_table => "subscribes", :foreign_key => "customer_id", :association_foreign_key => "subscription_id" end class Subscription < Activerecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :customers, :join_table => "subscribes", :foreign_key => "subscription_id", :association_foreign_key => "customer_id" end The problem I have is that there can only ever be one customer for each subscription, not many, and the join table will always contain at most one row with a certain customer_id. And thus, I don't want the association "customers" on a Subscription which returns an array of (at most one) Customer, I really do want the relation "customer" which returns the Customer associated. Is there any way to force ActiveRecord to make this a 1-to-N relation even though the join table itself seems to make it an N-to-M relation? --Thomas
