  • jquery control execution of the callback functions

    Function socialbookmarksTableData(data) is called by another function to generate the content of a table -- data is a JSON object. Inside the function i call 2 other functions that use getJSON and POST (with json as a return object) to get some data. The problem is: though the functions execute correctly i get undefined value for the 2 variables (bookmarkingSites, bookmarkCategories).   • Is there any way to programitically change a Data/ItemTemplate in Silverlight?

    So I have a Listbox, which is using an ItemTemplate to display an image. I want to be able to change the size of the displayed image in the ItemTemplate. Through databinding I can change the Width, but the only way I can see how to do this is to add a Property (Say, ImageSize) to the class I am binding to and then change every item in the colleciton to have a new ImageSize. Is there no way to access the property of an item in that Datatemplate? E.g. <navigation:Page.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="ListBoxItemTemplate"> <Viewbox Height="100" Width="100"> <Image Source="{Binding Image}"/> </Viewbox> </DataTemplate> </navigation:Page.Resources> <Grid> <ListBox ItemTemplate="{StaticResource ListBoxItemTemplate}" ItemSource="{Binding Collection}"/> </Grid> Is there anyway to set the Width and Height of the viewbox without binding a property to every element in the collection?

    I'm trying to create a simple Silverlight application that involves parsing a CSV file and displaying the results in a DataGrid. I've configured my application to parse the CSV file to return a List<CSVTransaction> that contains properties with names: Date, Payee, Category, Memo, Inflow, Outflow. The user clicks a button to select a file to parse, at which point I want the DataGrid object to be populated. I'm thinking I want to use data binding, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the data to show up in the grid.     Hi guys, Know this might be rather basic, but I been trying to figure out how to one after create a dynamic array such as double* data = new double[size]; be used as a source of data to be kept in to a binary file such as ofstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.write(reinterpret_cast<const char *> (data),size*sizeof(double)); When I finish writing, I attempt to read the file through double* data = new double[size]; ifstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.read(reinterpret_cast<char*> (data),size*sizeof(double)); However I seem to encounter a run time error when reading the data. Do you guys have any advice how i should attempt to write a dynamic array using pointers passed from other methods to be stored in binary files?

  • How do I utilize REST to post GPS data from an Android device into a Ruby on Rails application?

    I am a student in the process a building an Android app that can post a GPS track into a Rails application. I would like to do things the "Rails" way and take advantage of the REST. My rails application basically has 3 models at this point: users, tracks, and points. A user has_many tracks and a track has_many points. A track also has a total distance. Points have a latitude and longitude. I have successfully been able to create an empty track with: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml' -d '<track><distance>100</distance></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Whoo hoo! That is pretty cool. I am really impressed that rails do this. Just to see what would happen I tried the following: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml -d '<track><distance>100</distance><points><point><lat>3</lat><lng>2</lng></point></points></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Fail! The server spits back: Processing TracksController#create (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-04-14 00:03:25) [POST] Parameters: {"track"={"points"={"point"={"lng"="2", "lat"="3"}}, "distance"="100"}, "user_id"="1"} User Load (0.6ms) SELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 1) ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch (Point(#-620976268) expected, got Array(#-607740138)): app/controllers/tracks_controller.rb:47:in `create' It seems my tracks_controller doesn't like or understand what it's getting from the params object in my tracks_controller.rb: def create @track = @user.tracks.build(params[:track]) My xml might be wrong, but at least Rails seems to be expecting a Point from it. Is there anyway I can fix TracksController.create so that it will be able to parse xml of a track with nested multiple points? Or is there another way I should be doing this entirely?

In the constructor of the handler I generate an index that remains fairly static between request (needs to be rebuilt maybe once a day). How can I cache the the index between calls? Debugging indicates that the constructor is called for each request. I've set IsReusable to "false".

    the following code reads an input array, and constructs a BST from it. if the current arr[i] is a duplicate, of a node in the tree, then arr[i] is discarded. count in the struct node refers to the number of times a number appears in the array. fi refers to the first index of the element found in the array. after the insertion, i am doing a post-order traversal of the tree and printing the data, count and index (in this order). the output i am getting when i run this code is: 0 0 7 0 0 6 thank you for your help.     I have an example database, it contains tables for Movies, People and Credits. The Movie table contains a Title and an Id. The People table contains a Name and an Id. The Credits table relates Movies to the People that worked on those Movies, in a particular role. The table looks like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Credits] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, [PersonId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES People(Id), [MovieId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Movies(Id), [Role] [char] (1) NULL In this simple example, the [Role] column is a single character, by my convention either 'A' to indicate the person was an actor on that particular movie, or 'D' for director. I'd like to perform a query on a particular person that returns the person's name, plus a list of all the movies the person has worked on, and the roles in those movies. If I were to serialize it to json, it might look like this: { "name" : "Clint Eastwood", "movies" : [ { "title": "Unforgiven", "roles": ["actor", "director"] }, { "title": "Sands of Iwo Jima", "roles": ["director"] }, { "title": "Dirty Harry", "roles": ["actor"] }, ... ] } How can I write a LINQ-to-SQL query that shapes the output like that?     I'm trying to write a custom MarkupExtension that allows me to use my own mechanisms for defining a binding, however when I attempt to return a MultiBinding from my MarkupExtension I get the above exception. I have: <TextBlock Text="{my:CustomMarkup ...}" /> CustomMarkup returns a MultiBinding, but apparently Text doesn't like being set to a MultiBinding. How come it works when I say: <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding ... /> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> But it doesn't work the way I'm doing it?

How do I implement a function that behaves differently depending on the type of my generic property?

    I am having an un-predictable behavior of creating radio buttons in advancedDataGrid column using itemRenderer. Similar kind of problem has been reported at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/112036/creating-a-column-of-radiobuttons-in-adobe-flex. I tried to use the same procedure i.e. bind every radio button selectedValue and value attributes with the property specified in the property of the associated bean but still facing the problem. The button change values! The selected button becomes deselected, and unselected ones become selected.     public class Parser { Downloader download = new Downloader(); HtmlDocument Page; public Parser(string MovieTitle) { Page = download.FindMovie(MovieTitle); } public Parser(string ActorName) { Page = download.FindActor(ActorName); } } I want to create a constructor that will allow other developers who use this library to easily create a Parser object with the relevant HtmlDocument already loaded as soon as it's done creating it. The problem lies in that a constructor cannot exist twice with the same type of parameters. Sure I can tell the logical difference between the two paramters, but the computer can't. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Thank you!

    How can I enable automatic sorting of my BLL which returns a List CustomerList:List in a GridView? Customer is my own strongly typed class and CustomerList is a List of customers. I know one approach is to set the AllowSorting property to true in the GridView and handle the OnSorting event and call a sorting method defined in my CustomerList class. However I would like a solution which is automatic in the sense that I do not have to handle the OnSorting Event, it should be like how GridView handles automatic sorting for DataView, DataTable, and DataSet. Is there an Interface I need to implement on my CustomerList or Customer class that will enable that functionality?

  • How best to implement "favourites" feature? (like favourite products on a data driven website)

    Hi, I have written a dynamic database driven, object oriented website with an administration frontend etc etc. I would like to add a feature where customers can save items as "favourites", without having to create an account and login, to come back to them later, but I dont know how exactly to go about doing this... I see three options: Log favourites based on IP address and then change these to be logged against an account if the customer then creates an account; Force customers to create an account to be able to use this functionality; Log favourites based on IP address but give users the option to save their favourites under a name they specify. The problem with option 1 is that I dont know much about IP addresses - my Dad thinks they are unique, but I know people have had problems with systems like this. The problem with 1 and 2 is that accounts have not been opened up to customers yet - only administrators can log in at the moment. It should be easy to alter this (no more than a morning or afternoons work) but I would also have to implement usergroups too. The problem with option 3 is that if user A saves a favourites list called "My Favourites", and then user B tries to save a list under this name and it is refused, user B will then be able to access the list saved by user A because they now know it already exists. A solution to this is to password protect lists, but to go to all this effort I may as well implement option 2. Of course I could always use option 4; use an alternative if anyone can suggest a better solution than any of the above options. So has anyone ever done something like this before? If so how did you go about it? What do you recommend (or not recommend)? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard
