• Standard procedure for confirming email for a web app

  Hi! I have created a web app that is almost finished. I need it to confirm new emails. I just want to know if the these are the right procedures for that, because I'm not familiar with this. I create a new table called "confirmEmails" with only one column with uniqueId. A unique Id is created with PHP: uniqueid() which is created directly after a user hit the submit button. And the php script stores it on the table. An email is sent together with a link www.domain.com/confirmEmail.php?uniqueId=kushfpuhrufhufhfhuhfheriufhehu. I have an another php script called confirmEmail.php that gets the value if uniqueId through the link with $_GET['uniqueId'];(maybe I shall use post instead her). And now it stores the new email in table called user Is it right procedures? Pls give me some feedback!

• How to implement a book preview (2 page spread) without using Flash?

  I'm looking into a solution for work, where you have a two page spread of the book to preview. Either side of this, you can hover in the corner to create a pseudo-flip and then click the mouse button to actually turn the page. I know there is many Flash solutions out there, but in this case we cannot use it... So we are looking for a possible solution that can work across all major browsers (yes, including IE6)... I looked a few canvas solutions, but with Google's canvas extension for IE, these will terribly slow. So was thinking about an SVG/VML solution, like Raphael Javascript library. This could be good, but then trying to look into how to code this, without examples, could be a challenge with the time constraint. Is there a solution out there that fits (or almost fits) this problem?

• setCursor on container without it changing cursor of sub components

  JPanel panel = new JPanel(null); panel.setSize(400, 400); panel.add(new JButton("Test")); panel.setCursor(Cursor.getCursor(Cursor.SOMETHING_SOMETHING_CURSOR)); The panel will have a custom cursor, but I don't want the button to have a custom cursor. I don't want to have to set the cursor of every sub component, because in my application I have many and I don't want to litter the code with setCursor statements. Is there a way, like overriding a method on the JPanel or something? A "contains" method somewhere is used to determine if a cursor needs to be set. Could I fool it into thinking the mouse is not in the container if it's really in a sub component? Any other nifty little trick?

• MyLocationOverlay dissappears, is not there onResume.

  I have a mapView to which I add a MyLocationOverlay. It displays fine when the app starts from scratch (goes through onCreate). If I exit the app (back button) and then start it again (onResume), the overlay is gone. I have tried to fix this for 10+ hours. All sorts of messing with re-adding the overlay. Resetting the overlays. Changing the maps location so it's forced to redraw. Trying to manually invalidate or force a redraw of the overlay. NOTHING has worked. From the way the code looks, the Overlay object exists and everything is working fine - but it's just not on the map. Is anybody else having this problem? (Droid Incredible, 2.2)

• Which messanging services can BlackBerry apps integrate with?

  I'm in charge of having a BlackBerry app developed that translates the contents of a message from one language to another. So the aim would be to have a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messanging features on the Blackberry, or just some? ie I'm thinking SMS, email and BB messages. Secondly, given that the translation itself is done via a web request, I feel like this should be a fairly lightweight application. Would anyone care to hazard a guess how long it might take an experienced contractor to develop such an app?

  Hello, I am writing a program and part of it is to store the keyed entry in a database on an sql server when the enter key is hit. The database is small and simple with only three entry spots in the table. one for the tracking number, one for the date entered, and one for the time entered. The only thing the user will see is the tracking number text box and an enter button. the date and time will be auto entered when the enter key is hit. i am relatively new to databases so i cannot figure out how to send the data to the database. The database is already configured, just need to get the program and the database talking to eachother. Thanks.

I just wanted to know the best way to launch an external application when the user clicks the button (on BN_CLICKED). I found some methods such as ShellExecute, CreateProcess and others.   I'm running Sinatra 1.0 with HAML, my form has a number of checkboxes, for example books I like, and you would select all the books you want. The checkbox name is "books". In sinatra params['books'] there should be an array of all the books that were checked, but it only has the last item that was checked, not an array. How can I get all the checked items? • Post data with jQuery to ASP.net, am I doing this secure enough?

  For a website I am building, I am using jQuery to post data to Generic Handlers I created for this purpose. Because you need to be logged in, to do most post actions (like 'rate a picture'), I am currently using the following technique: User visits page Page determines if user is logged in On Page_Load the page fills a hidden field with an encrypted string, which contains several needed variables, like User ID, Picture ID (of the picture they are currently viewing), the DateTime when the page was rendered. When the user clicks a "I like this picture"-button, I do a $.ajax post to my Generic Handler, with the encrypted string and the value whether or not they liked the picture. The Generic Handler decrypts the supplied encrypted string and takes a look at the DateTime to determine if it was not too long ago When everything works out, the vote is submitted to the database. In my understanding this is a pretty secure way to handle a situation like this. But maybe I am missing a very important point here. Any advice would be very welcome.

• Google search is not working in web browser control

  Hello, I have developed a browser using the standard WebBrowser control in my application that is built against CF 3.5. Google search is not working in the browser. That is when i navigate to www.google.co.in and type a keyword and click on the serach button nothing is happening. Outside the application from the device if i try the same thing in IE am getting a security warning dialog box and if ok is clicked search results are shown. So in my case do i need to set property on the webbrowser control. Thanks in advance

  My windows form application has a grid view control with filename as a default column. User should create a column of following types Text, Number, Currency, Combo Box, Check Box, Radio Button ,Date time type (should display DateTimePicker control) and Hyper Link type. After that i want to pass all rows to next screen for further processing. We can create a column of these types in a grid view but how can i store it in a data table so that i can pass it to next screen. Or should i create a column in a data table and then assign data table to grid view by gridview.DataSource = dt; but can we create a these types of columns in a data table. I am so confused!! • Account for cancelling an update process

  I'm trying to develop the logic of updating my (Java) application but I'm stuck on a particular problem. The user can, at any time, be it on purpose (by clicking the Cancel button) or unwillingly (system/power failure) cancel the update process. If the updater was busy downloading files or unpacking files and thus didn't make any changes to the main application yet, this can be easily recovered by re-downloading the files and continuing the update process like normally. But, how can i account for changes made to the main application (i.e. a file was only partially replaced, some files were corrupted, etc.) that result in a main application that can't be launched anymore? Is it possible to rollback the changes made during the update without having to keep a full backup of my application or without doing a full reinstall? Are there any standards for updating an application that can help me with this?

  Im using Navigation Controller for my ViewControllers,I set my importantViewController as something like this to be its RootView: UINavigationController *navControl = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController: vc]; [self presentModalViewController: navControl animated: YES]; Then, I pushView anotherView the FrontViewController like this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; After a button is pressed in FrontViewController another view will be pushed ViewA but it is connected with another ViewController ViewB the same way as this AGAIN: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; (Which I think Im doing wrong when dismissing either of them with [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];) This is an illustration: My problem is, I need to navigate between View A and View B then when I dismiss either of them it will got back to FrontViewController.   In working on larger Actionscript/Flash projects, I've started to really feel the need for some kind of "make" system, but I haven't found it yet. Does anyone know if it exists? Required features: Ability to associate SWCs with their source code and/or FLAs i.e. "this swc is compiled from this source" Ability to mark my current project as depending on these SWCs (either as compile-time or runtime libraries) A single, big shiny button, that when pressed does the following: Checks to see if any of the source files have changed, and if so, recompiles their associated SWCs Recompiles and relinks the main .swf, if necessary Runs the main .swf Have yet to find a way to get something like FlashDevelop to do this (but I don't know it well enough to be sure). Support for both code and FLA sources is preferred.

• Unable to import example projects from book (newbie question)

  I am trying to import projects from a book "Beginning Android 2" but when I choose the root directory the "Finish" button is still grayed out. I've tried importing the project from scratch with no success, and I've also tried to create a template project with the same name and everything and then importing into that (Import existing projects into workspace) but it always says "No projects are found to import". The contents of the folder are: Res folder, src folder with .java file, the manifest, build, and default.properties files. I am new to android dev (obviously) so I appreciate the help.

• not inserting data into database from jsf web module connecting with ejb module..

  hello.. in my application i had taken ejbmodule and web module seprately. in ejb module there is one entity and session bean with remote interface. in web module i had taken jsf and used managed bean for calling method of session bean. and used jsf page with .jsp extension where m had put 2 textboxes and one commandbutton.which mapped to managed bean. my database table has only 2 field. bt when i run the application and entered data then click on button no operation is done.no data inserted into database table. i m nt given any error.so couldn't found any problem.. also dnt knw clear abt faces-config.xml file i had written abt managed bean into tht file.. plz guide me wht will be the actual problem?. thanks in advance.. waiting for positive reply..
