• How to Configure Microsoft Word 2013 to Connect to Geekswithblogs

  The first step in this process is to open Word 2013. Once there, you will have the different templates available. You will select Blog Post.  Once the template for Blog Post opens, you will have a dialog popup with the option to Register a Blog Account. And click on Register Now.  The next part of the dialog will prompt you to provide the New Blog Account details, starting with the type of Blog you have (SharePoint, WordPress, TypePad and others are listed). In our case for GeeksWithBlogs, we will select Other.  Now come the juicy details! Under the New Account dialog, you will have the API set to MetaWebLog.Then provide the Blog Post URL, this needs to be http://geekswithblogs.net/<your-account>/services/metablogapi.aspx (remember to change the <your-account> part with your info).Then, enter your User Name and Password, click OK and you should be set (you will receive a dialog letting you know information will be transferred).  Hope it works for you!

• I don't know how to connect to the internet

  I'm having some trouble finding an answer to my problem. I have a dell desktop (studio hybrid) and i have windows vista on it. The internet on windows vista works great, no problem. But now i downloaded Ubuntu 11.10 and I'm having problems. I can't find how to connect to my wireless network, when i click the network icon, it shows a list of things but I can only click 'enable wireless network' or something like that and 'edit connections'. But in this list it also says ( in a grey collor and i can't click it ) : 'No wireless connection, device not ready (firmware missing)" Or something like that. Now i tried several things i read on the internet (using my vista OS cause i can't use ubuntu for the internet, which is really enoying). But none of them helped me. I would like someone to tell me what my problem is or what information I have to give you to get an answer. So tell me if i have to edit a connection, or tell me how i have to get the wireless connection to work and to repair the 'firmware missing problem'. I hope someone can/is willing to help me. Bye

• non-GUI connection to local Hyper-V VM without network

  I have a virtual machine on Hyper-V manager (Windows 2008 R2) without a network configured on the VM. From a powershell script running on the host Windows server, I would like to query into the OS of that local VM for certain information (i.e. if a given process has finished completion). I am using codeplex's pshyperv module (https://pshyperv.codeplex.com/) to interact with Hyper-V manager, but the only cmdlet to connect to the vm is 'New-VMConnectSession', which launches a 'vmconnect.exe' connection to the VM. Since vmconnect.exe is essentially RDP, this is not very script-friendly. From within a host's powershell script, is there any way to send a command to a local virtual machine's OS and receive output, if no network is configured on the VM? (I believe Vmware's 'vmrun' utility has this capability) Another way to ask this question: Does Hyper-V have a non-GUI-based form of vmconnect.exe? (PS. Not sure if this was more stackoverflow or serverfault)

• EPM Architecture: Reporting and Analysis

  Reporting and Analysis is the basis for all Oracle EPM reporting components. Through the Java based Reporting and Analysis web application deployed on WebLogic, it enables users to browse through reports for all kind of Oracle EPM reporting components. Typical users access the web application by browser through Oracle HTTP Server (OHS). Reporting and Analysis Web application talks to the Reporting and Analysis Agent using CORBA protocol on various ports. All communication to the repository databases (EPM System Registry and Reporting and Analysis database) from web and application layer is done using JDBC. As an additional data store, the Reporting and Analysis Agent uses the file system to lay down individual reports. While the reporting artifacts are stored on the file system, the folder structure and report based security information is stored in the relational database. The file system can be either local or remote (e.g. network share, network file system). If an external user directory is used, Reporting and Analysis services also communicate to this directory.   A new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with Adaptive Case Management (ACM) is now available, so what will that mean for requirements gathering? BPM project requirements can be documented using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0). For ACM, there is a new notation in the works. It is called Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN). For now, this notation isn’t included as a modeling tool in the new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with ACM, but it is possible that a modeling tool could be included in a future release. What is CMMN? CMMN is a standard intended to capture the common elements that Case Management Products use, the same way that BPMN is a standard for BPM products (such as Oracle BPM). CMMN is created by the Object Management Group (OMG) and is still in the beta version. In April 2014, OMG released the second beta version the CMMN 1.0, and the most recent version is available here. CMMN captures some of the elements that are commonly used when talking about ACM such as Cases, Milestones, and Tasks. It also introduces some elements that you may not automatically hear when talking about ACM such as Stages, Events, and Decorators. • For a Javascript library, what is the best or standard way to support extensibility

  Specifically, I want to support "plugins" that modify the behavior of parts of the library. I couldn't find much information on the web about this subject. But here are my ideas for how a library could be extensible. The library exports an object with both public and "protected" functions. A plugin can replace any of those functions, thus modifying the library's behavior. Advantages of this method are that it's simple and that the plugin's functions can have full access to the library's "protected" functions. Disadvantages are that the library may be harder to maintain with a larger set of exposed functions and it could be hard to debug if multiple plugins are involved (how to know which plugin modified which function?). The library provides an "add plugin" function that accepts an object with a specific interface. Internally, the library will use the plugin instead of it's own code if appropriate. With this method, the internals of the library can be rearranged more freely as long as it still supports the same plugin interface. This could also support having different plugin interfaces to modify different parts of the library. A disadvantage of this method is that the plugins may have to re-implement code that is already part of the library since the library's internal functions are not exported. The library provides a "set implementation" function that accepts an object inherited from a specific base object. The library's public API calls functions in the implementation object for any functionality that can be modified and the base implementation object includes the core functionality, with both external (to the API) and internal functions. A plugin creates a new implementation object, which inherits from the base object and replaces any functions it wants to modify. This combines advantages and disadvantages of both the other methods.

• Creating Parent-Child Relationships in SSRS

  As I have been working on SQL Server Reporting Services reports the last couple of weeks I ran into a scenario where I needed to present a parent-child data layout.  It is rare that I have seen a report that was a simple tabular or matrix format and this report continued that trend.  I found that the processes for developing complex SSRS reports aren’t as commonly described as I would have thought.  Below I will layout the process that I went through to create a solution. I started with a List control which will contain the layout of the master (parent) information.  This allows for a main repeating report part.  The dataset for this report should include the data elements needed to be passed to the subreport as parameters.  As you can see the layout is simply text boxes that are bound to the dataset. The next step is to set a row group on the List row.  When the dialog appears select the field that you wish to group your report by.  A good example in this case would be the employee name or ID. Create a second report which becomes the subreport.  The example below has a matrix control.  Create the report as you would any parameter driven document by parameterizing the dataset. Add the subreport to the main report inside the row of the List control.  This can be accomplished by either dragging the report from the solution explorer or inserting a Subreport control and then setting the report name property. The last step is to set the parameters on the subreport.  In this case the subreport has EmpId and ReportYear as parameters.  While some of the documentation on this states that the dialog will automatically detect the child parameters, but this has not been my experience.  You must make sure that the names match exactly.  Tie the name of the parameter to either a field in the dataset or a parameter of the parent report. del.icio.us Tags: SQL Server Reporting Services,SSRS,SQL Server,Subreports

• I am trying to install Kubuntu, but I get a metalink error

  It looks like the ISO metalink is broken for the Kubuntu install from Wubi. Can you please fix this? Or, help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. • How programmers can afford to NOT learn new things.

  Good day! I am wondering how programmers learn many things because as a career shifter (from engineering to IT), I find it really hard to absorb everything. Three months ago, I learned HTML/CSS/Javascript. Two months ago, I learned mySQL and CCNA1. One month ago I learned C and Java. Now I am trying to learn J2EE. But it seems that I must combine everything I learned then add more into my brain (especially because J2EE is HUGE! -- XML, servlets, JSP, JSTL, EJB, frameworks(Hibernate, Structs, Spring), JDBC... and so on!!!) So I am wondering, how can programmers learn everything, then add something new without being confused of everything! Because Right now, I feel like my brain is going to explode because of information overload! And these knowledge I am trying to acquire are just the BASICS of programming (icing on the cake)! I still need to learn MORE to become a good programmer! And new technology emerges now and then that requires programmers to learn more again.. Learn.. learn.. learn... Any suggestions on how you as a programmer fit all you've learned into your brain? And how do you know which is the right thing for you to learn? Aren't you afraid that what you've learned may be obsolete next year then start learning again...?

• Viewing the full Skype chat history

  I have Skype 2.8 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. Under the the chat menu is an option called "Recent Chats". This allows me to see logs of recent chats, but not of older ones. I know the older ones are stored because they are in ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/username/chatmsg256.dbb. This file when put in a text editor has text chat information from all my previous Skype chats. It is however stored in an unknown file format that I do not know how to parse. Does Skype have a built-in log viewer (like Adium's) that I can use to access these older logs?

• Firefox freezes frequently

  Good day, The application Firefox freezes very frequently and I have to use 'force quit" to get out and hence I lose all my activities and it is extremely frustrating. Only in one occasion, there was a pop-out message saying that this problem was going to be tracked but in all other occasions there is no tracking and no message I posted this error on Ubuntu community and it was stopped and I was told to post it on launchpad. I did try to do so with no success as after reading pages and pages which i really do not understand who would read them and why so many ridiculous and tedious rules and information, i even could not find the place or the way to post this bug. And I thought of this ASkUBUNTU and so i am posting here in the hope for some useful help and I have to mention I am new to Linux. Just a few minutes ago, I opened the Firefox through the Terminal and it crashed very quickly and there are some error messages and i copy and paste them hoping they can help thank you in advance and look forward to your help and solving this frustrating problem/bug and if you wish you may post it on Launchpad or do with report as you wish as long as the problem is solved. • postfix smtp relay script

  I have a Postfix server and using it with Outlook (POP/SMTP). I have different sender addresses for an account. Now I want to configure a relay for a specific sender address. For example I have postfix for my main domain domain1.com. Now I have a sender address that is domain2.com. For that sender address I want that postfix to relay mail to a second SMTP server. I think that should be possible without problems. But the problem is that I have to create a SSH tunnel to the second server to connect to the SMTP server. But I cant use a persistent SSH connection so I want to know if it is possible that postfix executes some script before relaying the mail to the second SMTP server. I already found some information for executing a script when incomming emails but I only want to establish the SSH tunnel before postfix relays the mail to the second SMTP server.

• Breaking The Promise of Web Service Interoperability

  The promise of web service interoperability is achievable if certain technical and non-technical issues are dealt with properly. As the world gets smaller and smaller thanks to our growing global economy the need for security is increasing. The use of security is vital in the transferring of data from one server to another. As new security standards and protocols are created, the environments for web service hosts and clients must be in sync so that they can communicate on the same standard and protocols. For example, if a new protocol x can only be implemented on computers built after 2010 then all computers built prior to 2010 will not be able to connect to any web service hosts that only use this protocol in its security policy. If both the host and client of a web service cannot communicate using a set of common standards and protocols then web services are not available to these clients thus breaking the promise of interoperability. Another limiting factor of web services is governmental policies and regulations. I have experienced this first hand last year when I had to work on a project that dealt with personally identifiable information (PII) regarding US and Canadian Citizens. Currently the Canadian government regulates that any data pertaining to Canadian citizens must be store in Canada only. The issue that we had was that fact that we are a US based company that sometimes works with Canadian PII as part of a service that we provide. As you can see we are US based company and dealing with Canadian Data, so we had to place a file server inside the border of Canada in order for us to continue working for our Canadian customers.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.   I have an overheating issue on my netbook (ASUS EeePC 1015PW), which I'm trying to troubleshoot. Using lm-sensors while overheating gave me this output : acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +86.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) eeepc-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter fan1: 4089 RPM coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +82.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +80.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) But I can't hear the fan. So I enabled manual pwm controling and set the fan to full speed, and after a few minutes I got this output : acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +65.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) eeepc-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter fan1: 4016 RPM coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +62.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +58.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) And this time I could hear the fan spinning. So there's quite obviously an issue with either fan control or fan monitoring. Hence the question : what kind of physical information does the fan sensor really report? Thank you PS. I should have added that the computer is a small, hard-to-disassemble netbook, so I can't and don't want to try experiments like "block the fan and see what the sensor reports".

The problem is that I can't tell which one is a good one to buy from. How can I tell if the store has a good reputation. I don't want to pay, and then not receive the item. This has happened to me before (IvySkin). Or get conned some other way. One place I found is printerinkcartridge.us. But again, I can't find any independent information from people that they have successfully ordered products from there, and that they received what they expected. Are there any reliable sites you can suggest where I may order a kit from? Is the one I found good enough? Thanks guys.

• pfsense CARP - wan failure on firewall

  I have recently configured 2 firewall (on 2 DELL PowerEdge R210II with ESXI 5.1) with pfsense. We have several LANs and 2 WANs. Everything is running fine but i have a strange behavior: i can access internet from alla LANs but not from the firewall (itself). For example the firewall cannot retrive package information or if i setup a gatway monitor ip (like google 8.8.8.8 ) this fails. • Kickstart virtual console: No 'Shell prompt' at Alt-F2

  I am installing Scientific Linux 6.1 via kickstart, and I am trying to debug a problem. According to Tips and tricks for anaconda and kickstart, I should have several virtual consoles available: What the different terminals display Alt-F1 The installation dialog when using text or cmdline Alt-F2 A shell prompt Alt-F3 The install log displaying messages from install program Alt-F4 The system log displaying messages from kernel, etc. Alt-F5 All other messages Alt-F7 The installation dialog when using the graphical installer The Virtual Consoles Alt-F1, F3, F4 & F5 all work and show various logging information. However, the Virtual Console at Alt-F2 does not do anything. I could really use access to the shell prompt (Alt-F2), however there is no Shell prompt available at the second virtual console (Alt-F2). All I have is a blinking '_'. Can I forge Alt-F2 to show me a shell prompt?

• 13-inch Macbook Pro Battery Not Charging

  I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro. From last night on, it says 'Battery Not Charging'. The charger's light is always green and if I remove the charger it turns off(means the battery is completely empty). I tried reseting the PRAM and SMC, but not dice. I also tried using different chargers with out any success. The Macbook Pro is from the new generations and is over a year old. The Power Information section indicates 458 for the Power Cycles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Do ORMs enable the creation of rich domain models?

  After using Hibernate on most of my projects for about 8 years, I've landed on a company that discourages its use and wants applications to only interact with the DB through stored procedures. After doing this for a couple of weeks, I haven't been able to create a rich domain model of the application I'm starting to build, and the application just looks like a (horrible) transactional script. Some of the issues I've found are: Cannot navigate object graph as the stored procedures just load the minimum amount of data, which means that sometimes we have similar objects with different fields. One example is: we have a stored procedure to retrieve all the data from a customer, and another to retrieve account information plus a few fields from the customer. Lots of the logic ends up in helper classes, so the code becomes more structured (with entities used as old C structs). More boring scaffolding code, as there's no framework that extracts result sets from a stored procedure and puts it in an entity. My questions are: has anyone been in a similar situation and didn't agree with the store procedure approch? what did you do? Is there an actual benefit of using stored procedures? appart from the silly point of "no one can issue a drop table". Is there a way to create a rich domain using stored procedures? I know that there's the posibility of using AOP to inject DAOs/Repositories into entities to be able to navigate the object graph. I don't like this option as it's very close to voodoo.
